Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Gathering set materials across a classroom, Suika laid out several glass cups filled almost to the brim with water. Besides each cup sat a single, green leaf. After everything had been set, the kunoichi returned to the front of the classroom and awaited the arrival of academy students. Her planned lesson today was a bit unorthodox compared to what she normally did, but she learned it to be fun for some. While she took her job of molding the future shinobis of Kumogakure, the girl found no real issue in having a lighter lesson every now and then. Besides, today may even prove informative and beneficial for some.

Rehearsing herself what she was about to teach, the weightless leaf sank into the bottom of the cup as she focused her chakra over it. The glass then cracked. Grinning, she hid the cup behind her desk and stretched out her arm. “Perfect. It appears this might work out well.” Shifting into a one-eighty, Suika grasped a piece of chalk and wrote some simple instructions on the board.

Black Board said:
Welcome, students:

Please take a seat anywhere you’d like, preferably filling the front of the classroom first. Each person will be equipped their own water glass and leaf – DO NOT fiddle with it prior to instruction. This is a three-part course, so sit tight and be ready to learn.

Suika

Satisfied with her showcased message, the girl continued to wait for her students. Soon enough, some students began to trickle in. Once the seats were filled, she’d begin her little lesson. The twelve-year old Chuunin, wearing her Kumo headband loosely around her neck and a Chuunin vest, opened up a cup of pudding and plopped a spoonful in her mouth. Class would soon commence. “Let’s see what potential these young buggers have.” she mused with another heaping spoonful of pudding ingested. Mm.

[OOC: WELCOME TO SUIKA'S CLASS! Here are some rules, regulations, and notes about this particular class:
1. Please provide your post count, word count, and total word count after each post. By the end of this lesson, we should all have at least 5 posts each and 1,500+ total WC.
2. This lesson is open for both Academy students AND Genin! Anyone can learn from this lesson, although may vary in difficulty depending on rank.
3. There will be an enforced 48 hour posting limit. Since this is a class, most people want class/tutor rewards on a timely basis, which is why in joining this thread you should adhere to this (lest you be skipped). If PM/DM'd, there can/will be leniency, and one can always make up any needed posts toward the end.
4. Message me if you have any questions. I'm here to help ^^
5. HAVE FUN!!!]

Yasu began walking up to the academy building, passing a few packs of other students and (he was pretty sure) a few Genin. Approaching the doors, he wondered who his teacher would be. He had spent some time in the library reading and talking to other students and Genin, trying to learn as much as he could about the currently employed Chuunin and Jounin that might be teaching classes in the future. He had researched about five hundred different jutsus and techniques- who used them, how they were used, and what they did. He didn’t think he had ever spent so much time in one building before.

Still deep in thought, he realized that he was staring at the end of the hallway- he had missed the classroom he was supposed to go to. Turning around, he strode back down the corridor until he came to the right place. Sliding the door open, he stepped inside, glancing at a few of his classmates who were already seated. He took a seat in the front row off to the side and directed his attention to his instructor. She looked only a few years older than he was, but she sported a Kumogakure ninja headband and the iconic vest of a Chuunin. Sliding his gaze slightly to the left, he read the blackboard. “A water glass and leaf, huh? Doesn’t sound like a combat exercise; it’s probably something about chakra control.” the boy reasoned. He shrugged and sat back in his seat, waiting for the lesson to begin.

A class usually wasn’t the type of think a person at his rank would be attending but with the opening offered to C-Rank and below it became a possibility for him, although in all honestly there wasn’t a very high expectation regarding its contents. In keeping with that mindset he entered the room with Tsurara slung over his back and the remainder of his puppets kept in reserves, waiting inside their scrolls until conjured as he hardly expected to need them. Classes were very rarely of the combat variety and as the snowy haired Yukiin entered the room and took his position in the front row, taking another seat for him to set his puppet into, he also set down the book he’d been reading. Worst came to worst he could just use this class as a reading opportunity to brush up more on human anatomy and better position himself within his branch, he wasn’t certain when he would be eligible for promotion but he liked it to be sooner rather than later.

Normally he’d have positioned himself much further away but the instructions that were scrawled out made that an impossibility and while it was a discomfort, a request from a superior was almost always one he heeded. Tsurara’s cracked its head and then rested it in one hand, animating as the controller subtly moved one hand while the other picked his book back up, held it open, and seemed to capture the attention of the puppeteer while he waited. The glass had caught his attention but only momentarily, likely a divination to determine elemental aptitudes...something he’d done before and was accustomed to, when the instruction gave the go ahead he’d just crystallize the thing and be done with it.

The other one, student judging by the absence of a headband, was a bit strange considering the coloration of his skin in a country that was not renowned for its sunny and pleasant weather but he supposed if one ventured out of cloud cover long enough you could develop a tan. The general outfit struck him as disrespectfully unkempt but that wasn’t exactly his problem. It just told him that the boy wasn’t interested in putting his best foot forward and thus Yukiin would be hard pressed to care about him. That sort annoyed him...people who took what they had for granted.

Maybe the graduation exam would change things, killing a few of your peers does tend to change one’s outlook on life after all…

As the last of the students trickled in, the girl motioned her hand and closed the door using a basic kinesis ninjutsu. She then took her last spoonful of pudding, tossed the cup, and faced the class. Although as young or near age of a good chunk of students within the classroom, Suika carried herself with a professional demeanor. Her posture and tone were authoritative, yet, she still kept a calmed coolness to her.

“Welcome, class.” The kunoichi grinned lightly as she walked over to the front of her desk. She then hopped back and took a seat on her desk. “It doesn’t take a lot of imagination as to what this assignment will be. Once used as a type of divination, shinobi adopted a similar practice to identify the nature of their chakra. The leaf in the cup of water, that is.” Suika reached to her side and held out a glass of water with a leaf at its center. Focusing her chakra over the container, the water began to bubble and boil as the leaf swirled chaotically within it. After a few more seconds of showcasing, she retracted her hand from the cup and set it aside. “Essentially, if you’re a student in here, you’re assigned, at this moment, to focus your chakra into the cup to identify which of the three ninja arts you excel in: ninjutsu, taijutsu, or genjutsu. Each will have its own effect, and those that are particularly talented or experienced will have an extreme one.” Pushing herself back to her feet, the girl pointed at her own Kumogakure headband.

“If you’re wondering, ‘I’m a Genin, this kinda stuff is easy!’ Then do not fret. Your jobs will be to pair with one of the students in the room and ensure their success in this three-part exercise. You will act as their tutor. This is part one…” Suika stared up at the clock and then faced her students. Her expression was half-amused. “…and your time starts now.” The students and Genin in the room began to pair up. It was then that Yukiin and Yasu would find themselves as the last ones unpaired, as fate would have it.

“Oh yeah,” the kunoichi asserted as she plopped open another cup of pudding, “you have until I finish these few servings of pudding to have accomplished this. Good luck.” Fortunately for the students and Genin in the classroom, Suika’s pudding cup was larger than most. It was about the size of her head, but man, did the Ghostwalker have a sweet tooth. Now, with their task at hand, how would the students and Genin in the classroom do?

[OOC: The assignment for Yasu is to discover which of the three shinobi arts he is most talented in using a type of chakra/divination. Feel free to use your creativity in how this is expressed (but try to make it relevant). Yukiin, on the other hand, will have to guide Yasu through this three step process. He may use his own cup to demonstrate, give pointers, etc.. Yasu's success is Yukiin's. Have fun.]

Teaching? Already? He could count off the amount of time he'd been graduated in months, not years, but here Yukiin was expected to take someone else through an educational course that seemed entirely different than what he was used to...it wasn't like they'd given him anything to work with and there were no doctors around, so he certainly couldn't conduct any teaching the way he had recieved it. It seemed, based on what he saw and what he knew, that Kumogakure had changed portions of its teaching methodology or else the other students and Genin he knew wouldn't be so...easy to dispatch. How they expected to get through and eliminate the competition in the graduation test, he didn't know but it also wasn't really his problem at the moment, for now it was a matter of condensing years of knowledge into a few key points.

How much did the little street rat even know? Just looking at him annoyed him.

The puppeteer reached over to his weapon, pulling the cloak off of it and tossing it to the student in front of him. "You are encouraged to wear this, what you appear to be is an opponent's first impression and an employer's only impression. You shouldn't want the ones who contribute to your stipend to think less of you or of us as shinobi, please take that into consideration when choosing your attire in future."

Tsurara, laid bare, made its horrific mechanical nature much more visible and its slender form, vicious ice-formed claws and teeth, and its excess of limbs cracked and twisted into animation at the puppeteer's command. Yukiin gave it no real mind, he was used to it, but anyone unfamiliar with the style of Kugutsu most puppeteer's employed and their aesthetic choices in weaponry would likely consider it grotesque. Using the excess brainpower spent not even considering the issue he retrieved a powdered substance from one of his pouches, setting it on the surface between them.

The puppet spoke on behalf of its wielder, "He is offering you what is legally considered a poison, however Stardust is non-lethal and will dull your sense of pain if you find the production of sufficient amounts of chakra to be difficult. Since chakra is physical and spiritual energy, and the spirit is much more difficult to train than the body, it may be helpful to make the process of extracting heavily from physical reserves less agonizing. If you require no such assistance, leave it be."

Tsurara moved one its arms to the cup in front of Yukiin, lifting it and holding the substance in front of the student as the strings animating it were made into visible trails of ice by its controller. He held out a hand to be easily observed as he made a series of slow, deliberate, one-handed seals to direct the icy flow of chakra through his fingers, through the string, through the puppet, and finally into the cup where the contents released the shrill crystalline snap of ice as the cup shattered and the water hung in the ice, an ice block containing the leaf inside it suspended by two of Tsurara's claws.

"He makes it look simple, and you will require both hands, but the idea is the same, using a puppet and strings you can follow the motion - chakra originates from the body, fusing will and stamina into raw energy that is transported through your internal network, much like his strings, until they reach the target point and enact the effect. However, the key step is manifestation which, like the physical form of the puppet, is a barrier to entering the physical world - even if you can channel it properly if you can't push it out through the metaphysical into the physical then it accomplishes nothing. Its a flow and then a push, until you've mastered it and it all becomes just flow as reality becomes more flexible to your desire to impose new rules upon it.

"He assumes, based on your clothing choices, that you are preferential to Taijutsu and thus these ideas should be simple for you to grasp. Energy comes from the body the same as throwing a punch or hurling a shuriken, but the final point of release is the part where it either connects or it doesn't and this is where most people struggle or hurt themselves. You are 'punching' the glass, so to speak, with your will...you impress upon it that you wish for it to react and, if you follow through correctly like a trained boxer, you will connect. State changes, such as from liquid to solid or gas, are more of a Ninjustu thing, he is preferential to both Taijutsu and Ninjutsu and thus 'punching' the glass both shatters it and changes the contents physical state to match his elemental influence...this one couldn't even begin to imagine what Genjustu is supposed to do, the habits of conjurers and illusionists are typically things they keep to themselves after all."

Tsurara's jaw stopped chattering momentarily with the cast voice of its controller and both wielder and weapon gestured to the 'poison' and glass on the table. "At this time, control may be inexact and you may damage yourself in the process of this type of 'punch' and thus you have the option to dull yourself out of that pain, as a Medic-in-Training an antidote is easy to administer when the task is complete. These are the types of methods employed in my training, but things have clearly...changed...so do as you wish. Is the task clear and the methodology understood, student? If so, proceed."

Yasu took the cloak given to him but set it aside; if this Genin was going to force him to change his outfit, he wasn't going to dress like a puppet. Glancing at the puppeteer- Yukiin was his name- he could tell that he wasn't the type of person Yasu could tolerate as his superior: the type of person who greatly enjoyed casually displaying their power and skill. The unusual clothes, the concise attitude, the double move of unveiling his weapon and offering him the cloak all made it clear that he obviously thought teaching Yasu was far beneath both him and his time. The boy sighed and listened to the puppet explain the Stardust between him and Yukiin. The puppet didn't need to explain that its master expected him to fail.

The boy watched in silence as Yukiin spread his chakra through his strings and puppet into the glass, shattering and freezing it. Listening to what the puppet said about how to achieve what the Genin made 'look simple,' Yasu glanced at the water cup in front of him on which rested the success of both him and his instructor. As Yukiin's thoughts were narrated by his weapon, Yasu wondered where his specialty lay. Although he did have a certain affinity for taijutsu, he didn't like the idea of following the older boy's instructions exactly, especially when he didn't even bother to say them himself. The frequent references to his clothing choices were beginning to bother him as well, as he was sure was intended. The puppet indicated that its instruction was complete, and both it and its master waited for the boy to make a move.

Yasu stood in front of the glass and though about the instruction Yukiin had given and the Genin's demonstration, noticing something that bothered him slightly. Glancing around him at some of the other students, Yasu noticed the same thing: most people were shattering or breaking the glass in some way. Remembering his earlier guess as to what the class would be about, the student decided that he would conduct his chakra through the water in the glass without breaking the glass itself. Thinking of the instruction given to him and modifying it for his own particular style, Yasu closed his palms around the water glass and tuned out of the world around him. He remembered the earlier comment about chakra being a fusion of will and stamina, and in doing so, mustered up his will to prove his superior wrong. He let a smirk cross his face- he couldn't tell if that was what the Genin had intended or not.

He envisioned his chakra flowing outward from his chest to his shoulders to his hands, all the while keeping his desired result and will to maintain the flow of energy at the forefront of his thoughts. He could feel Yukiin watching him, but he didn't let this hinder his concentration. Yasu let his chakra flow into his palms, then slowly closer to the glass of water before him. He recalled that the final point of release was the most difficult and dangerous part, and kept his determination and repeated reminders to stay in control centered in his brain. Building up potential energy in his palms and the chakra connecting with the glass, he released it and let it flow through the water, careful not to damage the glass in any way. He felt his chakra almost explode inside the glass, desperately trying to escape the boy's grasp and shatter its glass prison.

Yasu kept a firm hold on it, slowly retracting the energy from the glass back into his palms, where he dispersed it throughout his body until his fingers stopped tingling. Without realizing it, the boy had closed his eyes, and upon opening them again, he saw that his palms had turned bright red and were starting to burn slightly- apparently he wasn't able to maintain complete control. He saw with relief, though, that the glass remained nearly untouched- a small, sharp crack decorated the side of the cup where Yasu's left hand ached the most. Shifting his gaze to its contents, he noticed that the leaf had been shredded somewhat, with pieces of it drifting through the clear surface of the water. The water itself appeared to almost crackle with electricity of some sort. Sighing with a mixture of relief and sudden exhaustion, Yasu looked up at the blackboard at the front of the room, and he felt his hands slowly stop throbbing. As he reread the instructions, he wondered what the next part of the class would be.

Looking over the multitude of students attempting the exercise, Suika realized she may have made a small miscalculation when formulating this lesson. Being a prodigy herself, she was sure many students would find chakra control easy, especially when it came to a task as simple as concentrating your energy into a cup to test its nature. Unfortunately, many students shattered their cups. As shards of glass and water splattered every which way, the look of dismayed or impatient Genin filled the classroom. There were many failures in the Chuunin’s classroom that day, but there were also a few success stories.

Eyeing the puppet master Genin and the young student besides him, Suika’s eyes glimmered with anticipation as the boy focused his chakra into the cup. While the kid appeared deeply concentrated and somewhat struggling, he managed to successfully complete the exercise with a mere crack in the cup. However, the leaf inside the glass was somewhat torn. Suika grinned as she took her last spoonful of pudding.

“Alright, class,” she interjected as she crunched her cup of dessert and tossed it in a nearby trash bin, “time is up. Let’s see how you all did.” Scanning the classroom once more, only a small batch of students and Genin were able to complete the first part of the lesson. About 70% of the classroom failed. “If your glass shattered or you were unable to manifest anything, please exit the classroom now. My suggestion for students is to rehearse your chakra control over the next few weeks. Genin, if you strive to qualify for Chuunin exams, learn to lead better. Enter more opportunities where you can impart knowledge to lesser shinobi or students. Now, go.” With that, most of the kids in the class left. Suika didn’t really feel bad – the harsh reality of shinobihood meant that most weren’t fit for the job. Perhaps, this would be a wake up call for some.

“Part two,”
the kunoichiheld out two fingers, “some of you already have jumped the gun a bit, but students, I now want you to focus that chakra and channel the element that comes most natural to you without destroying the glass. Genin, you are tasked, yet again, of guiding the student in this. Good luck.”

This one seemed prideful, difficult to lead, like a stubborn horse and seemed to refuse any of his assistance on these matters despite heeding his advice whether he enjoyed it or not, knowledge was always useful whether it came from someone you loved or hated after all. Still, he insisted on being himself and Yukiin had very little trouble allowing someone to hurt themselves of their own volition...just so long as it wasn't within his sight or obligation and, in this case, it was both. The student had damaged his hands but made no indication of pain from the matter, which was good because he didn't much like the weak ones who hadn't learned to bite their tongues yet, but it appeared only surface level at the moment.

Skin damage most likely, likely Katon or Raiton related as both elements could produce these types of burning effects, but if the student didn't want his insight then he wouldn't offer it and so long as his hands were functioning and he passed on the use of his medicinal offerings he wasn't in need of medical attention. Though Yukiin was well aware that if this was the result of employing raw chakra and having it emerge with an elemental tinge, something he was familiar with intimately, then the results of channeling the actual element intentionally would likely cause far more internal and external damage for an amateur. If he tried to push it out like he had before and lacked the finesse to ensure it left his skin before it was released then he suspected he'd probably fry his nervous system and lose feeling in his hands with Raiton or burn them into dysfunction with Katon.

"Elemental chakra is produced by applying and kneading one's nature, one's type of spirit so to speak, in an inert state until it reaches its intended destination, typically outside of the body, and then blooms. If it is an advanced element it requires both elements be present and then both to mix properly when created as chakra and to mix properly again when they form outside the body, an imbalance in either element in any step of the process will cause dysfunction at best. At this point in time you are seeing which element you are attuned to so you are only applying it to the container to see a result, you will be pushing chakra out and releasing it on contact with the water. If you release it too early you won't breach the skin and you'll damage your body beyond the point where this one can sit idly."

He sighed, exhaling a plume of crystalline smoke from his lips. "If you hurt yourself any further in this exercise this one will have no choice but to fix your hands, considering your disposition you would prefer that he not touch your hands and fix them so consider it some incentive to do it harmlessly."

Yasu watched as a good portion of the students and Genin that had, for a brief time, been his classmates, exited the classroom, most either upset with themselves or their partner. He again looked down at the water glass in front of him, taking note of the spot on his slightly damaged hands that corresponded to the crack in the cup. He wasn’t as upset with himself as the students who hadn’t managed to produce anything, but his performance hadn’t been perfect either. He had barely managed to control his chakra enough to keep it from shredding his arms apart, and even then he had ‘jumped the gun’ as the instructor at the front of the room had said.

Yasu listened carefully to Yukiin describe elemental chakra and how not to burn his hands off while applying it. Although he wasn’t too fond of the Genin, he had to give him credit for his complex knowledge of chakra and how to use it. It was only with his help that he had been able to manage the first exercise- then again, the student’s will to defy him and keep the glass intact helped almost as much.

As the process for identifying the element of chakra he was naturally attuned to was described, Yasu sensed that the precise timing for releasing chakra was essential to continue this class and his career as a shinobi. He pictured the water in the glass as a tree, his hands clouds and his chakra the lightning, ready to jump from the two points. Perfect and complete control over his chakra was mandatory. He turned to his glass and positioned his hands close to it, but not touching it directly. Focusing his chakra on his palms once again, he saw the tree, clouds, and lightning clearly. His hands began to tingle again, then burn slightly. He couldn’t hold on to the lightning forever.

Remembering his instructions and the injuries he had received last time, Yasu tried to push it out of his hands without letting it manifest directly. He felt the burning ebb away, being replaced by the tingling. He could sense a small field of chakra growing around his palms, and again willed his control over them. They stopped expanding outwards, instead becoming a single thinner strand of energy that connected his hands through the glass. He manipulated and condensed it until there was a large concentration of it in the water, with small areas of about a fingernail between the chakra and the leaf and sides of the glass. Thin strands connected the central mass to his hands. Concentrating, he remembered his tree analogy one last time, then released his energy, letting the chakra ‘bloom’ in the glass while keeping it away from the surface of his skin.

The water crackled with chakra that behaved almost exactly like the lightning the student had imagined. The only difference was that this lightning was staying in the water, away from the leaf and the cup like Yasu wanted it to. After a few moments, the chakra vanished, leaving the glass, water, and leaf behind exactly as they had been a minute before. Yasu stepped back, unable to suppress a bit of pride from his expression. He looked down at his hands: they were still bright red, and the further exertion of chakra hadn’t helped to heal them, but they had barely been affected by it negatively, either.

Both the students and Genin in the classroom began to work together to ensure the success of the student’s chakra control. With a keen eye and a subtle attentiveness, Suika listened in on the advice and instructions given by each Genin. Some were a little off the mark, but quite a few were sound. One of the most notable explanations was from the puppet user. Taking a few mental notes about the boy’s maturity, the way he explained chakra control, and the way he carried himself, Suika’s focus was then captured by Yasu’s attempt at channeling a type of element into the cup.

“Ooo, lightning.”

As the boy was able to successfully conjure sparks of lightning into the cup without destroying it or further damaging his hands, Suika grinned to herself. As the last of the students performed their attempts at conjuring an element, the Chuunin called out to them. “Nice work!” she exhorted as she finished her second cup of pudding. Trashing it, she continued. “As you can see, chakra manipulation and control is no easy feat at first, but with practice and a willingness for guidance, you can accomplish that and more.”

Pulling out a clipboard, she went down the list of students and Genin present. It was time for the third task. “The last part of this lesson is much more simple. I will call your name in the pairs that you chose. Students, I want you to tell me one aspect you’ve taken from this lesson, and I want you to give me your opinion on your tutor’s teaching methods. Genin, I’d like you to do the same, but instead assess what you thought of the student’s performance and receptiveness to your guidance. I urge every single one of you to be honest – we’re all here to learn, after all.” With that, Suika began to name out students and Genin. Each gave a report, whether positive, negative, or a mix. It wasn’t long before she called out Yukiin and Yasu. What would be their response?

Yukiin waited, not that he had much choice, until himself and his freshly acquired student were called forth and gave a reflexive glance at the instructor for using his name which he spent most of his time deliberately not offering, mentioning, or discussing with anyone who didn't need to know it. Still, if it was their prerogative to share needless information he wasn't in the position to do much about it, though he made it quite obvious in his eyes that he was displeased about it. He returned the cloak to Tsurara's frame, wrapping it once more before setting it over his shoulder which began chattering away in the place of the Genin as normal.

"The student performed adequately, damage to the flesh appears superficial and within the boundaries for self treatment without chakra assistance. Damage is minimal, production is sufficient, control is sufficient, and instruction was followed within an acceptable degree, with further guidance they should be easily capable of graduation requirements. Whether or not they are prepared for what that entails is hard to say, the process seems to have changed substantially in this one's absence from the academy program, so assessments on that front are beyond his scope."

Yasu waited as the Genin's puppet delivered his final assessment of the boy's performance. Somewhat unexpectedly, there were very few negative comments, and the student understood why his hands were pointed out. He was more than a little proud of himself for a demonstration adequate enough to merit the confirmation of his ability to graduate, especially from someone he had just met. As the puppeteer remarked that he had been out of the academy for a while, Yasu noticed that he was, once again, giving the impression that he was somewhat bored with this class, probably thinking it below him. This also meant that he had been a Genin for a while- he must be older than he looked. The boy made a mental note to do some research on more accurate immediate analysis of others.

When he had finished speaking, Yasu stepped forward slightly and reported the Genin's performance: "My tutor's instructions were informative and useful to completing the assigned tasks. He shared additional shinobi advice when he saw fit, provided clear instruction suited to his assessment of me, and passed on core knowledge of chakra and how to correctly control it. I do feel that, with continued training, I can meet graduation requirements and I feel ready for what lies ahead."

It was a bit odd that the boy insisted on using his puppet to speak for him, but Suika wasn’t one to judge. The shinobi world was full of oddities, so his means of communication wasn’t completely out of the blue. The boy did a fine job in teaching, so the kunoichi jotted some positive notes down as he gave his assessment. Next, was the Santaru boy.

The student showed great promise, especially within the realm of chakra control and lightning manipulation. Nodding her head in acknowledgement, the Chuunin asserted her own observations after Yasu was done speaking. “You both did excellent. Although unorthodox on some parts, you showed great signs of leadership, Yukiin and… puppet.” The girl set aside her clipboard and continued her spiel. “I’ll surely notify fellow superiors of your progress, especially as potential Chuunin exams near.” Facing toward Yasu, the girl grinned lightly. “For your level, you have above-average Chakra control capabilities. Keep training, as you said, and you’ll have your headband in no time.” With that, the class was over. Suika swung the door open with her kinesis jutsu and gestured goodbye at her students.

“Class dismissed. Remember what you’ve learned today and keep pressing on.”

Chunnin Exams huh? He hadn't really given it that much thought but he supposed another opporunity to excel and to display his abilities wouldn't be too bad, though if they were keeping track of performance in such a fashion then he was aware of several of his superiors that should be giving him high marks. That worried him a bit as the heightened expectations would be harder to meet but it was a relatively small concern compared to his own self confidence so it did little gnawing on his conscious and introduced an even smaller amount of doubt. He'd never seen an exam of that type executed so he wasn't sure how he would prepare for it but it would be something to look into when he had the time apart from his normal studies, missions, and training. Having a head start on future exams would be a great boon for him and hopefully give him another edge to exemplify the Kumogakure shinobi's way of life.

Unorthodoxy was a small slight, and he had no doubt it was intended as such, but it didn't phase him much. Yukiin's status as a shinobi was not hindered or harmed by his eccentricities, so long as the mission was completed, laws were not violated, and deaths were kept to a minimum. Utilizing Kugutsu was already well past the oddness threshold so any additional strangeness wasn't especially important, diminishing returns of strange shinobi and whatnot. He gave the instructor a bow as they departed, offering his respect and waiting a moment, before departing himself and retrieving his 'poison' in the process. He gave a parting glance at the student as he exited.

"Things may have changed but you should be prepared regardless to fight, break, or kill even your allies should they fall astray or you be given the order, the strength of a shinobi is not only in their chakra but in their force of will and resolve to do what they are ordered to do. Internalize that mindset and nothing and nobody will prevent you from success."

And with that, he was on his way home.

Yasu returned his instructor’s grin as she commented on his chakra control. He watched as she casually used some sort of invisible jutsu to flick the door open and left the classroom. Facing Yukiin with his entire body, the boy said nothing as the puppetmaster delivered his final piece of advice. As the Genin left the classroom as well, the Tsubasa/Santaru boy smirked defiantly- as a last passive-aggressive one-up to his former tutor, he was going to follow only half of his suggestion. Yasu vowed to keep his willpower the strongest part of him, followed by his loyalty to his village and resolve to follow orders. The older boy was right- nothing would prevent him from success.

Yasu looked around, noticing that the room was empty. He shrugged, and absentmindedly wondered what time it was. He thoughts were elsewhere as he closed the door behind him- future missions, training, and the tests of his willpower that were yet to come.
