Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

On a cliff face far away from the Shinogi Landing, trouble was brewing. A cliff face oversaw the large swathe of ocean that seemed to go on forever, but today's story was not one of exploration, but dangers of the unknown. A small band of men, were camping out the night. A collection of leather and fabric tents scattered the landscape, many people from all over the world were travelling to the Tea Country to witness the tournament that was going to be held. However for this small band of explorers, merchants, and mercenaries there day was about to get a lot worse.

The sun had just began to rise from above the horizon, hues of pink and yellow painted the landscape creating an almost painting like scene. Some had woken up to watch the sunrise and others were still snoozing away in their tents, protected from the sea's spray within their tents. Before anyone could react, a giant tentacle shot from the water, it's rapid speed catching them off-guard and going as far as slapping a few off the cliff, into the rocky shores below!

Tatsuo had been exploring the countryside and it wasn't an uncommon occurrence for shinobi's to stumble upon disasters like these. It definitely was the last thing he had expected. Within a blink of an eye he slapped his hands together, formulating the chakra around him into large wooden tendrils which shot out from the earth rescuing the falling civilians in just the nick of time.

"A Kraken!" One of the men yelled while the mercenaries of the group mobilized to make somewhat of an offensive push, Tatsuo left to dealt with kraken until reinforcements arrived. While the Jonin definitely was capable of combat, a Kraken was still out of his hands to defeat solo. Without the backup of any other shinobi this would definitely leave him with a scar or two. 'Tsk, I should've brought them along.' Thinking back to his three students, who were hopefully just still sleeping at the hotel they were staying at.

A tentacle came crashing down on the cliff face, with enough force to destroy it and send them all crashing into the sea. To prevent the death of the countless civilians in the area, Tatsuo formed a quick barrier jutsu. Wooden spikes rose up from the ground supporting the weight of the striking tentacle. Tatsuo wiped his brow and noticed the small civilian group making an impromptu retreat. Leaving him and just a few archers who were firing off rounds at the kraken, aiming for his eye. This would be a tough fight, Tatsuo was sure of it.

After a long sea voyage, Kumo's academy students and genin had finally arrived in the Land of Tea. The kids spent the rest of their arrival day sight seeing, and exploring the busy main city. Once night had fallen, most of the kids had returned to their designated hotels and gone to bed. Doi wasn't one of them.

The whitehaired boy still wanted to explore, no matter how dark it got. It wasn't every day that he got the chance to explore a distant land.

At this moment, Doi was walking through the tree-covered area of the Land of Tea's countryside. Throughout his exploration, Doi had seen numerous plants and animals that he hadn't seen before. This country was quite different from the one he called home. It was a nice change of pace.

Doi looked upwards and saw a sky full of stars. But in that sky full of stars was a large object flailing about in the distance. "Is that... a tentacle?" Not only that, but he could start to hear loud yelling and a monstrous screeching sound as he continued walking in its direction. With his interest peaked, Doi sped up his pace. It was time for him to investigate.

As the giant flailing tentacle got closer and closer, the yells and the monstrous screeching got louder and louder as well. A curious Doi was now running full speed in the tentacles direction. As the Kumo genin ran, a multitude of civilian men passed him by. Frantically running in his directon yelling things like 'Monster!' and 'I'm too young to die!' Whatever that giant tenticle belonged too must've been no joke.

After running for a while, Doi came across what appeared to be a large scale battle between a group of armed men and what looked like a giant evil octopus. At the forefront was a man that was summoning large wooden spikes from the ground to prevent the tentacles from crushing everyone. Doi immediately jumped into action and released a powerful jet of water from his mouth at the giant monster. He knew he couldn't use his coveted lightning techniques with so many people around. Any that came into contact with the water would be instantly electrocuted.

Nonetheless, Doi knew he had to pitch in despite not knowing what was going on. It was up to him and the wood release man to protect the civilians.

As the battle raged, on the Kraken grew more and more enraged. Tatsuo did his best to manage the beast, attempting to buy time for the civilians to escape. Firing off ninjutsu as if it was second nature, but he was glad to see a jet of water fly through he might be able to get out of this alive with some reinforcements. The jet of water sent the Kraken's tentacle reeling back into the depths below. Meanwhile Tatsuo prepared for it's next onslaught, turning to Doi, he shouted over to him, "Help me distract this thing, we've gotta get the civilians out of here as well." Tatsuo himself wasn't wearing anything but a headband, that would identify himself as a ninja, forgoing the typical leaf Jonin gear for a more casual t-shirt and denim it seemed he had no intention of fighting a kraken today. But isn't that the best time to fight one?

Before they knew it, another tentacle slammed into the cliff side, shaking the very earth beneath them. Tatsuo looked to each of the edges and saw that the cliff had been broken at many points and was now at risk of being pulled straight into the ocean. "Yo, kid!" he said while forming hand seals that would soon produce a large wooden barrier. "This cliff is about to give out.. make sure there's no one left on the cliff and we'll deal with this thing after!" He said, the tension in his neck and forehead visible as veins became strained, the barrier rising from the earth and blocking a powerful spray of sea water the Kraken produced. The barrier obviously wouldn't hold for long and if the Kraken decided to pull the cliff down into the water, there wasn't much they could do to stop them.

Most of the camp had been abandoned at this point. Even the mercenaries who bravely rose to the defense of their camp were sent on the run by such a devastating enemy. Though some people weren't quick enough: An elderly man, fallen in the street unable to get up, a little girl crying while hugging a teddy bear, and a young man whose leg had been broken while saving a small family from a collapsed tent. Tatsuo wasn't sure if Doi would be able to find them all, but because of his connection to natural energy his awareness was heightened. He could only pray that Doi could make it in time, "You have to hurry! We don't have a lot of time!" Tatsuo roared as he went on the offensive, summoning more wooden spikes that would smack the Kraken's arms back as it tried to wrap itself around the cliff, using it's weight to bring it down into the sea.

Hopefully with Doi saving the lives of the innocents and Tatsuo fighting the Kraken to the best of his abilities, they might be able to save everyone and send this Kraken back to the depths of hell where it came from! "RAGHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Tatsuo shouted as he truly felt the rage of battle continue on. Summoning a few wooden tendrils and slapping on some explosive notes he fired them off and attempted to scare the beast away with the explosions. But to no avail, it was thirsty for blood now, whatever had enraged the beast must've truly did a work on it.

An earth-rattling strike from one of kraken's flailing tentacles was enough to jeopardize the cliff's stability. Tatsuo quickly instructed Doi to pull all of the remaining civilians to safety once the impending danger had become clear. Any that fell into the waters below would be at the enraged kraken's mercy and that's if they survive the drop itself.

As Doi scoured the camp for people that were left behind, it became apparent that most had already evacuated. The tents were empty for the most part.
Eventually, Doi did come across an old man that had collapsed in the middle of the street. The boy lifted the old man from the muddy dirt floor and hoisted him over his shoulder. The fearful elderly man struggling to muster up words of gratitude as he did so. The genin continued searching for others with the elderly man over his shoulder; surveying all of the tents, he had yet to check. Quickly opening the entrance flabs to peak inside each individual tent.

While he looked inside one that was seemingly empty, the sound of a child's soft sobbing became apparent. A crying little girl could be seen in the corner of the tent, holding a stuffed animal. She must've accidentally been left behind by ger guardians. "It's ok. Come with me. I'll take you to safety." He then held his hand out to the child. The girl was initially cautious about going with Doi, but gave in eventually. She must've found comfort in Doi being an adolescent boy despite him being a total stranger. Doi scooped the small child up with his free arm and ran out.

Now outside of the tent where he encountered the child, the young genin could hear a voice calling out for help. He approached the location where he heard the cries and saw a young man dragging himself across the muddy floor: clutching his left leg as he did so.

"Hey, I'll be back to get you soon. I'm taking these guys to safety first, ok?" Doi said to the young man, and the man nodded his head in agreement.

Doi wasted no time and began to use a series of chakra powered leaps to get his two passengers to safety. His feet glowing a visible magenta hue from the amount of chakra he was pumping to them. Once he'd dropped off the old man and little girl with the group of mercenaries that fled into the forest, Doi returned for the young man and delivered him to the mercenaries as well.

Now back at the camp, he confirmed that those he'd just helped were the only people that were left behind. He was now free to aid Tatsuo in his battle against the beast. Doi sped through a series of hand signs while running towards the beast, and unleashed an inferno from his mouth to strike the kraken. The attack was futile, as it did not do any lasting damage and only served to irritate the beast even more. The genin then followed up by extending his arms outwards with his palms facing forward in a cupped position. Electrons gathered in-between the boy's cupped hands, and from it a bright beam of solid magenta colored energy was produced. The beam was on course to impale the beast through it's open mouth.

The cliff was beginning to give out but there was little time to seek safety. If they were pulled into the water while the Kraken was still alive, who knew how this would go. With the civilians finally saved by the ever valiant Doi, Tatsuo was free to heat things up a little bit. Letting out a roar, "SENPO: ULTIMATE WOOD GOLEM!" Slapping his hands together with a loud clap, Tatsuo jumped backwards landing firmly on a strong patch of earth. From the earth below a giant began to rose, a giant wooden golem, nearing the size of the kraken itself. Any stability the cliff once had was now threatened by the increased weight of the creation.

Tatsuo smirked as he kept his hands tightly formed together, two wooden platforms shot out from the golem, each going towards Tatsuo and Doi giving them a place to stand before the whole thing fell. The golem brought it's arms up to meet with the kraken's tentacles. Matching it in strength, but definitely quite the strain on Tatsuo's chakra. He knew he couldn't hold this forever but considering Doi's earlier lightning bolt gave it quite the injury they might just be able to send it back into the sea. Tentacles crashed down attempting to take out both of the Shinobi, however for whatever strength they have they lacked in critical speed. Giving both Tatsuo and Doi plenty of time to get out of the way. The golem putting it in a headlock definitely didn't help it's chances.

"Alright kid! There's no way in hell we're going to kill this thing.. but we might be able to send it back! I don't know what you've got, but you better use it all here! It's our only chance." he said jumping from points on the Golem as tentacles sought out both of them. It wasn't long before the sheer amount of them overwhelmed Tatsuo's golem. Wrapping it from head to toe. While the creation attempted to struggle the Kraken's grip was just too tight. Tatsuo said a silent prayer to himself, he had to hope Doi had it in him to hit this thing hard!

Finally the combined weight of the kraken, golem, and the damage to the cliff was too much and sent the mountain side crashing into the water. Jumping from rock to rock, attempting to avoid rubble and falling into the sea. Tatsuo formed a quick formation of seals. Holding his chakra until Doi himself readied his chakra. With enough damage in one hit, they might be able to scare off the beast. Just as Doi finished his last seal and prepared his attack, Tatsuo shouted "Wood Style: Great Wooden Bear!" From the falling earth around them large tendrils of wood shot out, merging together to form a larger wooden projectile. As it shot through the air it took on the shape of a great grizzly bear. It cut through the air like a hot knife through butter, crushing rock and whatever debris got in the way. Straight towards the head of the Kraken, hopefully in unison with Doi's attack.

The beam of pure light delivered a devastating blow, but the beast showed no intent of letting up its rampage. Once Tatsuo had summoned his massive wooden golem to the battlefield, the cliff began to break apart. Large chunks of the cliff falling into the sea below. The part of the cliff that Doi, Tatsuo, and the golem were on was still moderately stable at this point, but it wouldn't be long before it would fall into the sea below. Now standing on one of the wooden platforms that stuck out from the large wooden construct, Doi watched as the golem engaged the rampaging kraken.
Evading the large monster's flailing tentacles while on the platform was made easy by the monster's lack of speed. The tentacles chaotically swinging around in attempts to crush the pair of shinobi to no avail. Doi continued evading the monster's attacks until he momentarily lost his footing. With a large tentacle approaching and threatening to squash him, he quickly jumped off the top of his wooden platform and latched himself on to the golem's side with chakra. He'd managed to successfully avoid the single tentacle, but his current position on the golem's side put him in more danger. He could practically see every detail on the kraken's largest tentacles do to the close proximity.

After speedily running up the golem's side and evading a few more of the kraken's appendages as he did so, Doi eventually made it back up to the pillar he was standing on originally. Looking over in Tatsuo's direction, he could see that the man was faring quite well in avoiding the stray tentacles despite having to control the massive golem. It must've be putting a large drain on his chakra reserves. "I've got just the thing!" Doi replied to Tatsuo just before their portion of the cliff began fall into the sea due to the excess weight. Jumping higher along the falling debris, Doi used a final chakra powered leap to launch himself high into the air; all while speeding through the hand signs for his next jutsu.

Once he'd reached the peak of his jump, Doi stuck a single arm out; palm facing the kraken bellow. "Raiton: Raijū!" he yelled as a massive beast made of lightning sprouted from his palm and made way for the monster.

Two beasts, of wooden and lightning creation crashed into the unsuspecting Kraken. A shrill roar was left the Kraken as it unleashed it's tentacles from the cliff face and began to sink back into the water below. Off to lick it's wounds and perhaps find another unsuspecting camp to attack. Tatsuo took the chance to finally catch his breath, after the Golem assisted both Doi and Tatsuo to the land, Tastuo stop providing it chakra. It then sank into the sea, a relic of a fight lost. Letting out a huge yawn and a stretch, he looked over to Doi, "Thanks for the help, not sure I could've managed that by myself." He rubbed his back and smiled flashing his pearly whites.

Walking over to Doi he extended his hand and asked, "So what's your name?" Tatsuo hadn't figured out where he was from yet but anyone who would aid him in battle like that was a friend. No matter where they were from. "Man that was pretty cool though, your lightning style is really strong. What village are you from?" He asked before crossing his arms and awaiting a response from his newfound battle buddy.

Tatsuo was always quick to relax immediately after a battle, he never stayed serious for long. Now that the people were saved and the Kraken was defeated he could show his true colors. Which tended to be pretty warm and upbeat. He glanced over to the sea, wondering how many more monsters inhabited the waters below. That was his first time fighting a Kraken and honestly had Doi not shown up he would've probably had to push himself to the point of death to prevent those civilians from dying. There definitely was something looking out for him.

Doi could only smile as he saw the kraken retreat. It's large body swimming off into the distance. They'd done it. They'd actually defeated a kraken.

With the intense battle finally over, Doi was finally able to catch his breath. This whole situation was pretty wild. Would any of the other kids believe him if he told them what had just transpired?

Probably not.

"No problem." Doi replied to Tatsuo thanking him. Reaching to shake Tatsuo's extended hand, the genin introduced himself. "I'm Doi, nice to meet you."

He then brought his hand up to rub the back of his head while smiling in a cheeky manner. "Thanks, lightning jutsu are my strong suit. I'm from Kumogakure."

This man had proven that he was no push over, so it made Doi quite happy to have his proficiency with lightning jutsu acknowledged. He still didn't know the man's name, though.

"So what's your name? And what village are you from?" Doi wasn't aware of any wood release users in Kumo. Konoha seemed like a more likely place to have people that practiced this particular advanced element.

At the end of the day, Doi fought an amazing creature on his first night in a foreign country. He could only hope that the rest of his stay was as eventful as it was so far. The genin still couldn't help but wonder if anyone back at the hotel had noticed that he was missing....

Maybe they just didn't care?

Oh well. It can't be helped.

Tatsuo grinned when he heard he was from Kumogakure, "They really do produce good ninja over there, don't they." he said as a wave of nostalgia washed over him. Tatsuo had spent a large portion of his youth in Kumogakure and the place would always have a special place in his heart. Few things would make him happier than seeing shinobi of such a caliber being produced from an allied village. "Nice to meet you, Doi. I'm Ranna, Tatsuo. I'm from Konoha."

After introducing himself, he lifted his arms and stretched a bit overhead. "You know what's the worst part of this? I don't think anyone will believe us when we say we fought a Kraken! Though it'll make for a good story." He laughed a bit to himself. "So what rank are you, Jonin? Chuunin? Sennin maybe?" he said adding in the last one for jest. While it was true that the students and Genin of the villages were definitely getting stronger, he would never expect someone so skilled to still be Genin, but times were changing.

Doi was right in his assumption that Tatsuo was from Konoha. His use of Mokuton was a dead giveaway.

"Yeah, this was kinda' over the top." he agreed with Tatsuo. Doi didn't even know krakens really existed until now. The others wouldn't take his word for it unless they'd seen it themselves. "Nope, I'm just a simple genin. I only graduated from the ninja academy a year ago." Doi replied while turning to look out to sea. The only scars that remained on the battlefield were the fallen cliff and a couple large tentacle shaped indentations in the grass.

The kraken's roaring was very loud throughout the battle, so it was a bit strange that no one else had shown up to investigate yet. There was a lot of shinobi from all over the world in Tea country for the tournament after all.

"Well, it was nice meeting you, Tatsuo. I'll be heading back to my hotel for now. I'm pretty tired." Doi bid adieu as he yawned. "I'll see you around, alright?"

With that, the Kumo genin began walking back in the direction he'd originally come from.

All in all, Doi thought it was kind of fun fighting the kraken despite his life being danger. Maybe he'd be involved in some other spectacular event before he had to return home with the other Kumo kids.

Tatsuo was happy to have met Doi and just as happy to have saved all of those lives. Letting out a sigh he surveyed the area for a bit and wondered how long before they came to reclaim the camp. Shaking his head and rubbing the back of his neck he made his way home. Hopefully there paths would meet again and many more adventures to be had!
