Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Twin girls about age 6 were looking at a younger girl who was sitting in a chair and coloring at their alley front stand between a tea shop and a pizza place. With expressions of deep thought the twin with white hair pulled out a set of adult sized glasses with Secretary style frame, and placed them on the younger girl.

The twin with black hair nodded in approval. “It was a good decision to borrow these from daddy’s secretary. Are you sure she won’t miss them though?”

“It’s fine, the lenses are just regular glass. She only wears them to try and flirt with daddy, lucky for her neither he nor mommy have picked up on that. More importantly, the fact they are very oversized is cute on Meko-Chan.”

They had borrowed Umeko from granny Kiyo’s place after telling her that they wanted to take her out to play. They also left some paperwork with her to officially sign Umeko up for Kunoichi Scouts as a member of Troop #450, asking her if she would consider acting as Umeko’s guardian for the signature since they knew with how much Umeko’s Mom hated their dad it would be unwise to ask her directly.

Today, they were at their “¥¥¥ Unofisel Mishons for Ninjas, Akadmy Stewdants Welkom. ¥¥¥” stand that they had kept up as a hobby to trick big kids and grown-ups, but today they were done with that activity early as they gave out the only two missions they had to give currently, neither of which they expected the morons who took them on to finish today heheheh.

So they were a big stumped on how to enjoy themselves after they played with Umeko’s hair a bit and made her look more like a secretary, secretly scratching at her hidden set of ears.

““What else can we do for fun…”” the twins wondered while pouring then sipping tea from a set they got from the tea shop next to them.

“We could sell cookies but…” Yukiko, the white-haired twin started.

“Just not really in the mood for it today.” Karasuko finished with a nod and a sigh.

The pair looked up at their sign and thought for a moment before they went further into the alley for a few minutes and brought back another sign that hid the base one, reading “Afordible Terrapy 4 Browk Ninja - Psychiatric Help and Counseling - Accepting Walk-Ins.” They had asked one of the big kids for the last part.

They didn’t really expect someone to stop by and hand them blackmail material and a bit of cash, but they still rearranged their alley furniture, gave Umeko a clipboard with more blank pages of paper and crayons, and waited patiently to see if any suckers… clients appeared.

Umeko giggled raspily as the glasses slid onto, then down her small nose. she pushed them back up through the sleeve of the button down collared shirt that was much, much too big for her, then flopped her sleeve wildly as they fell again. They would stay up, she realized, trying again, if she tilted her head back, which really worked just fine. Umeko was small after all and had to look up at everyone.

The nearly six-year-old didn't really understand the game they were playing. The twins had tried several times to explain to her that they needed to get money for their Kunoichi Scout group and that adults had that money, and that adults needed to be coerced or traded for it but it had all made her head hurt. They'd taken pity on her eventually and just called it 'playing pretend', which had made a whole lot more sense and explained the strange things that the Twins did. She had been very interested in the way the big kids came and took missions from the black and white haired girls and spoke to them as the big ninja spoke to her mommy. She liked that, she liked that a lot.

So when they suggested a new game where Umeko could pretend to be like her mommy's secretary, who she adored, Umeko had been all for it. Thus the glasses, and the hair- which she also enjoyed, the ear scratches were amazing- and the clothing. They argued a little about if the shirt needed to be unbuttoned at the top- Megu didn't do that but their daddy's secretary did- but the twins won in the end because she couldn't button it back up. Then they changed their minds when she started to cry.

And so now Umeko sat, legs swinging from a repaired chair she'd had to climb into, and scribbled on her clipboard exactly as she had watched. She hoped there would be clients soon, whatever that was.

The chaotic hustle-bustle of the Susukino District was, for one kunoichi walking its streets, completed drowned out by the sound of the awkward silence that hung in the air like a bubble around her and the person walking next to her. The last time she'd seen him had been in Yuii's office that day, the day she showed up at Danii's door looking for a couch to crash on. She'd left an envelope at their apartment with enough money to cover the full rent for a month, the entirety of the bonus she'd been given for her service at the gates, with a note saying they would talk later. Since they'd been splitting the rent, she figured she'd bought herself a little less then two months before needing to talk to her boyfriend.

A solid plan, if he were still a medic. With the two of them in the same division, it had been a chore trying to make sure they didn't end up on the same missions, and near impossible to avoid running into each other in the assignment office at the Torre. And so occasionally, as they were today, the two would leave the office together under the pretense that they were actually going to talk and figure things out until one of them inevitably got cold feet and excused themselves to visit a shop or run back to the Torre for something they 'forgot' to deal with. Sighing, Rei wondered how long it would be this time before one of them broke, beginning to eye up the different wares and goings-on to craft her own back-up excuse.

That was when it hit her. The pins and needles sensation radiating from the mark beneath her collar bone, drawing her toward a certain presence. Her eyes flitted toward Maikeru, to see if he was getting the same sense. Well, of course he was. As the two finally approached the trio's makeshift set-up, she spotted her. "Well hey there Umeko. What are you girls… doing here?" She gave a smile and a little wave, hiding her concern as her grey eyes scanned the area, obviously looking for whatever adult was supposed to be looking over the Sennin's daughter.

"Wait.. I actually get a paycheck?" He asked, raising an ivory eyebrow at the woman behind the desk at the Main Branches mission collection office. "Like.. I can collect this money.. right now? I don't have to wait for a grant to be given or anything?"

The woman, a few years older than Maikeru and a civilian, just looked bemused at the young shinobi before nodding her head slowly. He was still a Genin, but he had done several missions for the monster hunter division, how was this something that surprised him? The simple concept of money being exchanged for services should be something he was familiar with. Still, the look of excitement and gratitude on his face was refreshing if nothing else. Waving her hand she dismissed the Uchiha, who just now noticed the queue forming behind him.

Waiting for him at the exit was Reicheru, causing a sense of dread to wash over Maikeru. It was true that they had been walking together in a pointless attempt to discuss whatever was going on between the two of them. It wasn't that either of them didn't want to talk about it, though that was partially it, to Maikeru at least it was more that he just didn't know what to say. Their last actual conversation hadn't gone well, or any synonym of the word that could be constructed in the common tongue. Still, the fact that they were attempting communication was something, even if nothing ever came from it.

As the couple walked next to each other, silently, Maikeru like Reicheru looked around the streets and stalls for any excuse at all to push this off, he silently cursed his luck for his left eye containing Amaterasu and not Kamui. With a sigh, he finally came to a stop as Reicheru did, looking to the girl for a brief moment, before biting at his lower lip in thought.

"Rei I-" As if in sync with the sensation Reicheru felt on her mark, his own on his arm burned and 'pulled' him towards a nearby alleyway. It was Reicheru who moved first, quickly recognizing Umeko-chan and approaching the small girl.

Maikeru hung back for a moment, looking to the two other children with her. Did they look familiar to him? He wasn't quite sure, but, if they were with Umeko then they had to at least be the children of another Shinobi, especially considering the stand they were attempting to run. Therapy? These children? Maikeru simply shook his head as he walked next to Reicheru, crouching to get down to eye level to the daughter of the Main Branch Sennin. Giving her a soft smile, he ruffled the girls black hair.

"Well, if it isn't Umeko-chan." He said, looking from the girl to the stand she was sitting behind. "Are you playing receptionist today? The glasses do look awfully cute on you, I've always had a soft spot for girls in glasses you know."

Leaning in to Reicheru, he would whisper in her ear in Fuego, trying to not let the girls understand or hear him.

"Look, do you think we should play along with... whatever is going on? You know, for Umeko-chan? We were planning to talk anyway, so, our night should be pretty free. We can always talk another day, how often do we get a chance to make children smile?"
