Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Coming back around for the next round of training for the staffers in the hospital, Kiri would next join the training seminar on IV insertions. This may sound easy as one can see the nurses do this every day in their line of work, but one must understand that there is a proper way to do an IV insertion in order to alleviate the patient’s pain, as well as not to cause any unintended harm to the veins. After all, there are many cases when a patient’s vein path would be too rough, too soft, too thin, or even too narrow. A wrong angle could even mean collapsing the vein and it would do more harm than good. And most importantly, should the procedure fail, it might end up leading more diseases and infection to enter the bloodstream easily and lead to fatal results. As such, it was important to have the annual seminar and training.

But perhaps, the one thing that Kiri didn’t like about this particular seminar was the practice time. Ah but for the moment, after the brief introduction of what would be done for that day, he had his hopes up knowing that he was slowly making his way into the medical field. He wasn’t adverse to needles so it was a big plus for him. Still, he would have to take extra care when manipulating the said needle upon insertion.

First off, the lecture started with the materials. The coach this time around was a resident doctor. Apparently, he was ranked as the most skilled in IV insertion by the patients, twice in the annual survey. In any case, Kiri could see the experience as the doctor was very meticulous in his explanation. He presented different patterns of insertion, depending on the type of vein that the patient has. He also demonstrated the angle of the needed and pressure needed. Again, most of the techniques requires full understanding of the type of vein that the patient has, which is why the first practical training of the lesson was feeling for veins.

Kiri was partnered with three other personnel– a tough-looking male nurse, a sweet innocent female nurse, and a veteran old man supervisor. They all took their time to press their hand against the palm of the palm to feel for the veins. It was important to know which veins were the most appropriate as well. After the quick feel, they would then apply the tourniquet. It was a large rubber band that would be wrapped around the biceps, tightly as possible while the patient’s hand is rested. Then, they would ask for the patient to clench their fist. In this case, each one took turns as the patient. Here, the veins would be pronounced as the pressure from the tourniquet would block the passage. Only then would they be able to select among the veins that present themselves best.

After that was done, the doctor in charge would proceed to showing a demonstration. They were all gathered as a camera would show a closer view on the screen what was happening. One of the nurses volunteered as the patient while the doctor would demonstrate the proper application. He explains the type of vein that was seen after applying the tourniquet, and he proceeded with the clear instructions to be given to the patient– such as clenching the fist and holding that position. Next, they would have to sterilise the area with a cotton and alcohol. Next, he would point the tip of the needle against the flesh, just on top of the vein area. He proceeds with a slanted angle (not like the ones for vaccination). The movement was swift but careful, inserting deep into the vein, before apply plaster on the IV. Next would be retrieval of the needle head from the IV by slowly pulling it out was keeping the IV in place and secure. And once that was out, the IV drip cord can then be attached. Of course, that last part did have to be shown as they knew how to place the cords.

Kiri almost paled at the thought of playing with his veins. In any case, this was part of the course and he had no way to escape from it. After the demonstration, they would go to their respective groups once more and begin. Good thing that amongst his group, two were experienced, and only he and the new female nurse were to be considered newbies. So he allowed the veteran old nurse to insert an IV into his hand, trying to remember the motion. It was difficult when the insertion was a bit painful, probably because his veins were hardened and strengthened by his trainings and his own demonic chakra. Still, he would understand the process.

The entire demonstration and practicing lasted for 3 days. Why? Because they needed to make sure that knowledge came in both theory and practice. Besides, Kiri was so terrible in the first day his group mates were scared that he would rip through their veins. He improved on the second and third, having better control with the delicate IV needle. After all, it was not like the kunai or his katana. And while he had experience with syringes before, the angle made it harder. Syringes for vaccinations required a straight insertion with enough strength to penetrate through muscle. This one needed a particular slanted angle and gentle push to make sure it breaks through the flesh and initial part of the vein, and not through it.

With that learned, he would finish writing notes on his journal once more and return home after the third day was done. Hopefully, he could survive the remaining days of this annual training workshop.
