A bird circled the air, looking down at a piece of meat dangling from a tree branch high in the mountain range over the Moon Country. It was a large bird of prey and a creature that was notorious for attacking and driving off people from the higher parts of the cliffs where untapped mineral mines yet lied. Zoning in on the piece of dangling wet meat it let out a screech of defiance before swooping off around the otherside of the mountain. In a nearby bush, hidden away with ANBU camo, Shinjo swore softly before readjusting his legs under him.
He had sat up here for a good two days, nearly, unmoving and it was starting to really drive him nuts. However, the pay for this little bounty would set him up with enough funds to keep his…lurid tastes, and travels banked for at least another few months. It was a hit job, and the target was that damn bird that had drove off everyone who came up to this point in the mountains so far. Not even a hundred yards away was a cave glistening with precious minerals that must be a tease for any mining magistrate in the area as the cave could clearly be seen from the ground with proper equipment. The avian was large enough to ward off pretty much everything, including most shinobi, but they didn’t have the special card that Shinjo had up his sleeve.
The bird cried out once again, and Shin’s eyes darted right for it. Again he stopped breathing and waited as the creature circled around the overly obvious free lunch hanging from the tree, for two days now. Finally, it gave in to its appetite and swooped in with speeds exceeding mach 2. Yet as its talons dug into the red meat time froze and stopped the bird right in mid flight before starting again with a kunai in its chest. The predator screamed and careened right into the cliff’s face killing it instantly on impact.
“Finally!” the ex-shinobi screamed as he stood up, fell over because his legs were asleep, and then got back up to check on his target.
“This’ll set me up nice for awhile…”
