Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

She had an assortment of weapons set-up, like she did last time. However, this time she had more than just ranged weaponry on display. All manners of weaponry from swords, to chained weapons, to heavy siege weaponry were put on display for a class that she was about to put on. Sure, she might be stepping upon the toes of another sensei, who was also hosting a similar class, but this was part of her rotation for shinobi basics. A short while had already passed since her last class with the child who felt pain controlling chakra. She made a promise to make a strong shinobi out of him; playing to his strengths rather than covering for his weaknesses.

Her standard weaponry was on her person, even bringing out the massive Gatekeeper Canon with her on it's cart. She walked around to examine all of the weapons to ensure they were in tip-top shape. Any bit of rust and she was willing to throw it out into a bin for refurbishing. A large bin full of weapons could be seen tucked away in the back filled with sub-par weaponry; those that have been poorly maintained throughout the years of the shinobi academy -- a responsibility that she would undertake herself. Nozomi had her Anti-Material Rifle strapped upon her back, holding the strap with her right hand while holding a cup of coffee in the left. She blew upon the hot brew as the steam bellowed thick into the frigid cold weather of the Kumogakure winter. Thankfully, her parka was thick and heavily padded so she couldn't feel the cold upon the most vital parts of her body.

She took a little sip from the coffee cup, decorated with smiling cat pictures. There was a little wiggling coming from her Bag of Holding as a black cat, named Sakura, poked her head out of the bag and squirmed her way out. She stretched her body, extending her tail and gave a big yawn. Nozomi's lips tugged a bit at the sight of the creature. It constantly sneaked it's way into the bag and exits at the most inopportune times. It was endearing that it wanted Nozomi's attention so much, but it was also infuriating and had almost got her in a lot of trouble when it came to sensitive missions; for that, she'd normally leave the damn bag at home. Nozomi watched the creature walk around a bit while she waited for the students to appear in the training grounds.

Ren had been looking forward to this next lesson ever since the last one ended. After all he'd made a promise to his sensei that he'd come to it and he wasn't about to be made a liar. The young shinobi had spent all his free time working on taijutsu from a manual, learning all the basics to wielding a knife and earning himself quite a few nicks on the fingers in the process. By the time the class came around his fingers were so wrapped up in bandages they looked like mummy hands. He didn't care one bit. Nick and cuts were far better than the alternative in his mind.

When he reached class he was surprised to see all the weapons out on display. Of course it might make more sense given that most academy students didn't bother carrying weapons at their skill level but one would have been hard pressed to successfully remove the small combat knife Ren had been carrying since his last class ended. It'd been a gift from Kanagawa-sensei, a sign of her belief in him and his ability to become a proper shinobi through his own path. The normally gloomy, reserved boy couldn't help but split a grin when he spotted her leading the class, even going as far as to lift a floppy sleeved arm to wave at her before taking his spot near the front of the class. For once he wanted to be spotted and picked for a demonstration.

Rinko clattered down the stone pathway, holding her leafy hat so it wouldn't blow away in the wind. A shout came from behind her. "Put some pants on young lady! You're gonna catch a cold!" Rinko waved a hand at the distant voice of her father and shouted back. "I'll be fine! Later Pops!" She turned a corner, her destination set to the academy. It was a new year, and after a pleasant experience at the forest shrine, Rinko had a new vigor to complete her schooling. If she was lucky, she could finish with more friends than not.

She reached the school grounds shortly before the class was to begin. While she'd already taken a class dealing with swords, Rinko hadn't quite clicked with that sort of fighting style. So maybe a more general class could give her insight into the kind of weaponry that suited her best. She checked the bulletin board within the school to find where the class would take place and made her way to the training grounds.

Rinko knew she'd found the right place when she saw a giant cannon amongst an assortment of weapons. The girl let out a light whistle at the firepower on display as she situated herself next to a hooded student. Now that she was stationary, the chilly air finally caught up with Rinko. She wrapped her tail around her exposed shins and transformed her hat into a green, downy jacket. While she slipped on her makeshift coat, Rinko's eyes fell on a small black cat. While she certainly wasn't the kind to start squeeing at anything cute, the tanuki girl's eyes softened as the feline left adorable paw pad prints in the snow. Finally Rinko brought her attention to the teacher. She was relieved to see that an actual adult was holding the class. While her previous teacher had done his best, it's rather difficult to take someone seriously as an authority figure when they are your age. While she waited for class to begin, Rinko leaned over to the other student and placed a hand over her mouth. Her voice was a whisper, but she wouldn't be surprised if the teacher heard her anyway. "A hundred yen says the teacher shoots off her giant-ass cannon as a demonstration so we'll think she's cooler. I mean, it would work, but it would be pretty typical."

It wouldn't be wise for Ren to take that bet! While Nozomi had superior vision, she didn't have the best sense of hearing so the bet made by the tanuki-girl went unheard. She didn't have too many opportunities to show-off the Gatekeeper Canon and she had the urge to actually use it. The urge was great, but the more calm side of her resisted the urge for now. Her trigger-finger itched, even twitching as her eyes shifted from the students to the massive weapon on display. No! Right now isn't the time. She also had the urge to 'squee' upon seeing Rinko. It isn't every day that you saw someone with bestial features, especially those as cute as her's, every day. She had to remain calm and professional. Being an adult sucked sometimes.

Clearing her throat, Nozomi started to speak. "Good morning, class. I am your instructor: Kanagawa Nozomi. Today will be basic weapons training. While the majority of people will lean towards Ninjutsu or even Genjutsu as their main method of attack, due to their devastating nature, some people usually second or even main Taijutsu. Normally, Taijutsu doesn't expend chakra to use and is a powerful tool, whether up-close or at a range. While it may be deemed 'unsafe' or even 'barbaric' to those who seem to only dish out jutsu after jutsu, all great shinobi need to know the basics of martial combat. The objective of today's class is to teach you all the basics of different types of weaponry," she said before turning her eyes to Ren.

"Ranging from knives," she said with a short pause before refocusing her attention to both in the class. "to even the most deadly of firearms. What you see before you is a generic grouping of weapons. I, myself, excel at long-ranged combat. Particularly with a rifle," she said as she unstrapped the massive rifle slung over her shoulder and held the weapon at parade-rest. "So, for today's class, I want both of you to select 3 weapons that interest you and I will go over how to use each of those weapons and even give you a chance to try them out. Make sure that all 3 of your weapons are different; so don't go picking 3 knives, alright?" she said with a warm smile upon her face.

Ren was so focused on his sensei and so ready for the lesson to begin that he was actually a bit startled when somebody leaned in from the corner of his vision and began whispering to him. Not only had he not been paying attention but he was not very use to other children from the academy talking to him. When he glanced over to actually see who it was he found himself a bit stunned. She looked to be around his age with short brown hair and glasses. Her clothes weren't exactly something he'd expect a shinobi to wear what with the dress and skirt and whatever weird thing she had on her legs. Despite all the oddness he also found himself feeling just a bit nervous by the sight of her. Not in a fearful way, just in a hard to explain fluttering in his stomach. Once he realized what she'd said he scoffed, turning his head away to hide his slightly flushed cheeks as he told her, "Kanagawa-sensei isn't like that. She's cool headed and smart, she'd never be so rash."

His eyes focused forward as the lesson began, his gaze set dead on his teacher as she began to summarize what they were there for. It all made sense to him -- a big reason he'd come to the lesson was because he wanted to learn to fight without having to focus his chakra -- and when their sensei's gaze fell on him for a moment he couldn't help but beam. Kanagawa-sensei was so cool and great! He was genuinely excited for a lesson for the first time in ages. That was quite a feat all by itself given his history.

What took him by surprise was the actual lesson itself. They were to take 3 weapons they wanted to learn and practice with those. He'd spent the last week just learning how to wield a knife properly, now he was suppose to try two other weapons as well? It made a certain amount of sense, variety and all. Still it meant he had to figure out what else to take. Ren was quick to step forward towards the weapon collection though hesitated when it came to his actual picks. Eventually he decided upon a single edged sword and a rather modest baton along with the dagger he had on loan from sensei.

The student turned away from Rinko, defending the cool factor of their instructor. The girl pulled away and smirked. "We'll see." She listened to Kanagawa-sensei's introduction and instructions before trotting over to the array of weapons. Rinko saw some shuriken and slipped them into her pockets. Her father had taught her how to control coins with metal jutsu, to use them as makeshift weapons if the need arose. However, his instruction was rather basic, so she figured she could get better training with thrown weapons here. She scanned the arsenal again, seeing if anything else caught her fancy. She wasn't particularly muscular, so the heavy weapons were out.

Rinko wandered to the table that held the firearms. Her dad and grandpa were old-fashioned sorts and hadn't taught her anything about guns. They seemed so foreign, despite her watching Takaki-san showing one off during their mission. The tanuki girl's hand reached up to rest on the side of the large cannon. If I choose this, she'll have to shoot it. Rinko shook her hand, retracting her hand and balling it into a fist. No, if I do that, the kid will just say I forced Kanagawa-sensei to shoot it. I've gotta be more subtle. She let her eyes linger on the cannon a bit longer before looking over to the hand guns. With her minimal knowledge of firearms, she had no idea what gun was best, so she simply took a pistol that looked similar to the one Takaki-san had with her.

There was one more weapon to go, and Rinko was stumped. Daggers, swords, clubs, and axes all required a level of skill she wasn't sure she was willing to learn. Not to mention they were pretty obviously weapons. She wanted a discrete weapon that no one would bat an eye at. She paced in front of the tables a few times before her eye caught something a bit more unique. She reached up and held a small piece of wood that looked like a closed fan. She pulled it open and analyzed the supposed weapon. She saw small holes in the ends of the fan, which were blocked off when closed. After a few moments more, she realized it was familiar. She had seen such a fan in one of the Bear Country dramas she'd recently gotten into. They were often used to store gaseous poisons, which would then be blown towards an enemy after opening it and waving it at the foe. She had also seen one with razors on the edge of the fan, hidden by feathers so no one expected. I didn't think it was an actual thing. I thought the director just made it up because it looked cool. Excited to see if Kanagawa-sensei could fight like her favorite actress, Rinko stood behind the other student and waiting with anticipation.

The two had selected their three weapons. Ren had selected the knife she gave him, a single-edged blade and a baton. Three very similar-to-use weapons. She nodded upon seeing the selection made by the future Taijutsu Monster. Her eyes then turned over to Rinko and her eyes widened in anticipation. The fact that she showed interest in that monstrosity made her heart jump a few beats. Pick it... Pick it... Pick it...! A tug at her lips showed to disappointment in her lack of picking her most fantastic of weapons. The Gatekeeper was a fun weapon to use but due to her inability to lug it around swiftly, she had to keep the weapon at home most of the time; saving it for siege engagements. Maybe some other time.

The weapons she chose were a group of shurikens, a pistol, and an exotic weapon. She raised a brow and nodded her head at the choice of weaponry chosen by the adorable tanuki girl. Clearing her throat, she began the lesson. She walked over to Ren and held her hand out for use of the dagger. Upon him letting her have it, she inverted her hold on the weapon. "Most thugs and new people have a bad habit of using knives like a sword. They would hold the weapon," she said as she returned it to a standard grip, one similar to how they'd use it to cut a steak. "Never wield a knife like this. It's stupid and you won't have much strength, at all, with it," she said before inverting her grip, having the blade poking out from the knife-edge side of her hand, the blade of the knife pointing out in the same directions as her knuckles.

She held her hands up as if she was 'putting up her dukes'. "When using a knife like this, you will have to use it similar to using martial arts," she said punching the air with slight variations. Her punches seemed to drag across her body with some of the attacks while other 'punches' snap to the punch and there being a twist of her wrist to add in the slash at the end. She did this a few more times, slower so Ren could see her movements. "Basically, in order to really do well with something like a knife, you'll need to learn hand-to-hand taijutsu," she said as she pinches her fingers upon the flat of the knife and hands it back to Ren.

"But if you're using a longer knife, they you'd probably be better off using it similarly to a sword. I'll get into that when we move on to your sword. Now please practice movements I've shown you. Remember, sweeping strikes or snappy movements with your wrist," she said as she handed the weapon back to Ren. She left him to his own devices, letting him practice the movements while she went over to Rinko to teach her how to use shuriken. She held her hand out to wait for Rinko to hand over the shuriken that she pocketed. Yeah, she saw her pocket them. If Rinko handed them over, she started to show Rinko several different kinds of grips that you could use when using a shuriken; first being the pinch grip.

She pinched the pad of her thumb and her index-finger's knuckle together, holding the shuriken by one of the points. "When you use it in this grip, you'll want to throw it in an overhand-fashion. When using it like this, you will," she said as she pulled her hand back and pointed her elbow in front of her and stopped there. "Your elbow will be pointed to where you want to throw it. Once you get here, take a step forward and throw," she said pantomiming the movements necessary to throw the shuriken. Pull hand back, take a step forward, move hand forward, release; without actually throwing the shuriken.

She then modified her grip to the 'palm grip' most notable with the anime or manga that she read. "This grip isn't very effective. It looks cool but it's not a very strong way to throw a shuriken. You don't have much control this way. The only way this is relevant is if you're dishing out multiple shuriken at once. But if you're doing that, you're better off using another weapon Shurikens are nice short-ranged weapons and don't normally do a whole lot of damage. It can do a lot of damage but it requires a lot of energy to throw it as hard as you can. There are much more energy-efficient weapons out there. But there is one jutsu I do like involving shurikens," she said as she stepped towards one of the targets near the far-end of the training range.

"There's a Ninjutsu that, if you use Shurikens, you'll have a lot of fun with," she said as she grabbed the shuriken and threw it towards the target before quickly flipping through handseals causing the shuriken to a blanket of steel, completely covering the target in shurikens with a whole lot more landing around the target. "The Shadow Shuriken Replication Jutsu is pretty fun. When you get strong enough, I suggest learning it," she said before handing over the rest of the shurikens back to Rinko. She started to make her way back towards the middle of the training area, where she was originally.

"Alright. I'll give you both 10 minutes to practice the techniques I have taught you. If you have any questions, I'll be sure to answer them for you," she said as she holds her hands out as if to tell them 'go for it'.

Ren couldn't help but watch the raccoon-tailed girl pick out her weapons as he did the same. It wasn't weird to have innocent curiosity in what someone else was doing at the same time! He just wanted to know what kind of things she was picking just in case their training turned into a duel to give them both targets. And even if that wasn't the case he couldn't help himself. Nobody wouldn't have their eyes drawn to a girl with a big ol' fluffy animal tail. It wasn't that she was cute as well. Why... was he trying to justify this all to himself in his head...?

Thankfully sensei's attention was able to clear his head a bit as she approached and held out a hand for the knife she'd given him. Of course he pulled it out and handed it back to her, his eyes already shining with excitement as he got ready to cling to every word of advice she had to offer. And what words they were. She wasn't fooling around or exaggerating when she said she was going to teach them how to use these weapons. She went over the proper way to hold them, how to do so differently for longer blades, showed the right ways to swing it around. Ren did his best to absorb every single word she had on offer before accepting the knife and watching her go over to the other student before forcing himself to focus as he held onto the knife tightly.

He'd gotten down some of the basics at home but now he was determined to put everything she'd shown him to the test. He kept the knife held in a reverse grip, finding it much easier to maneuver and swing it this way. It even felt like he was less likely to cut himself. Before long he was getting very into it, trying every way and angle he could manage and even switching off to his left hand to see how well he could wield it there.

Rinko watched Kanagawa-sensei teach the other student how to fight with the knife he had. While she hadn't chosen the weapon for herself, it didn't hurt to learn second-hand how to wield it. However, she found herself glad that it wasn't one she picked. The thought of slicing someone up right in front of her face made Rinko a bit queasy, but she swallowed such fears and focused on the lesson at hand. When the teacher came over and held her hand out near Rinko's pocket, the girl gave up the shuriken. "Hehe. I just wanted to warm them up before using them." Truthfully, she was hoping she could slip one or two extra away and sell them off to civilian collectors, but it was probably for the best she was caught. Kanagawa-sensei explained the different grips and Rinko nodded occasionally to show she was listening and understood. When Nozomi performed the Shadow Shuriken Replication, Rinko was caught off guard. The last class she went to scolded her for trying to mix Ninjutsu with the swordplay. She was relieved to know that she could use her other talents and not just rely on her physical strength. She hadn't caught the handseals the teacher made, so Rinko said the name of the jutsu over in her head to try and remind herself to look it up later.

Kanagawa-sensei left the children to their own devices. Rinko took a peek at her classmate to gauge her competition. The hooded child was quick to pick up on the lesson, slicing this way and that at the dummy. I...should probably take this seriously too. Rinko lined up with the training dummy and pulled a shuriken to her ear. "Align my elbow. Rock with the throw." She threw the shuriken and it bounced off the arm of the target. She blushed a bit, hoping that at least the other student didn't see her lame toss. She positioned herself again and made another strike. The weapon imbedded into the wooden stake holding the body of the dummy. Her face grew even more red, now with a mixture of embarrassment and frustration. Without thinking, Rinko pumped her last shuriken with chakra and chucked it at the dummy. It hit into the left shoulder and continued to spin in place with a shrill buzzing sound. Still perturbed at her lack of accuracy, Rinko used her steel jutsu to gently pull the shuriken back to her so she didn't have to walk to the target. She mumbled under her breath. "Stupid arm. Stupid shuriken. Stupid dummy." With the weapons gathered, Rinko chose to spend the last few minutes throwing them using her steel jutsu techniques. Her flinging was more powerful and accurate now, but it was obvious that it wasn't through her own strength and dexterity. Once the ten minutes were up, Rinko was happy to switch to a new weapon. She held the pistol in her palm, keeping her fingers far from the trigger, and awaited new instructions.

"You two seem to be picking this up quite nicely. You'll still need more practice in using these weapons but you both show some promise. Yes, the dummies are stupid and the difference between training with a dummy and training with a person are very different. Dummies don't move and fight back, people do. But that's a lesson for another time. You two are free to keep those weapons to train with. The academy has plenty, plenty more. Most of which are in questionable condition anyway. If not I'll just buy new ones," she said with a shrug.

Her eyes darted towards Rinko's weapon and her eyes lit up. "A Fuuma Armory 9 millimeter single-action pistol," she said while glowing with excitement. The craftsmanship of the handgun was something to admire. She walked over to the weapon and asked for it. She held the gun in her hand, holding her finger outside of the trigger-guard while looking over the weapon. "Going over operation and maintenance of this weapon would take a class of it's own, so I'll explain to you the basics," she said as she clicked a button to the side which released the magazine. She displayed how to put the magazine in, bullet point facing towards where the weapon will be targeting and shoved it in as a clicking sound could be heard. She showed her the hammer which needed to be pulled back and pulled it back. She then turned to aim it at one of the distant dummies.

"Cover your ears, it's gonna be loud," she said as she gave them about 5 seconds to cover their ears, took aim and shot the entire 16-round magazine, pulling the hammer between each shot with the bullets going straight into the dummy's head; almost as if each bullet was going into the same tiny holy over and over again. After dumping her ammo, she clicked the button to release the magazine and let it fall to the ground. Keeping her eyes on the target, she retrieved another magazine from her side and tried to put the magazine in only to hear a 'clack' noise as the magazine size was a bit too big for the gun she was using. This 'clack' snapped her out of the zone and focused her attention to the weapon.

"Right," she said as she pocketed her personal weapon magazine and turned the weapon back over to Rinko. There were additional magazines by where Rinko got the weapon. "Alright, you try. Just make sure you don't point it at anyone alright? Every time you point your weapon, expect to kill that person," she said. Sure, she points her weapon at Maru, her partner, all the time. Does she sometimes mean to kill him? Every single time. But she doesn't and these children don't know that.

"Be careful and don't shoot either of us, okay?" she asked before turning over towards Ren. He didn't present his second weapon. "Well, let me see that," she said before he handed over the weapon. She held the blade exactly how she instructed and with a swift flick of her wrist, a blade of chakra extended from the weapon, itself. "This is called the 'Chakra Extension' jutsu. Otherwise known as 'Flying Swallow'. This extends the length of the blade using pure chakra and can deal damage with the pure chakra blade. You can also add a Chakra Draining effect to it which none of us can see unless we attack something which chakra; which I won't do in this class," she explained before flicking her wrist and cancelling the jutsu. She held the weapon back for Ren to take.

"Continue practicing with this weapon for a bit more and then I'll wrap up the class," she explained.

Kanagawa-sensei's comment about live targets being quite different from dummies make Ren's stomach flutter nervously. He felt he'd improved quite a bit but what if the first time he had to try in a real fight he couldn't land a single hit? Perhaps practicing with immobile targets wasn't the best idea. He knew of some moving practice ranges but those were all for shurikens and other ranged tools. He supposed he could find a practice weapon and try sparring with someone that way. Live training wasn't safe given how the weapon was made for stabbing at the center of mass, unlike a longer slashing weapon that could go for the target's corners.

On the next round of training Rinko got attention first. Despite how nice the girl seemed he couldn't help but make a face as the next weapon came up. Plenty of his clan members did not think much of it as a tool and that feeling had rubbed off on him long ago. That's not to say the Kagetsu did not respect gunpowder. It was a fine explosives tool and something like sensei's rifle required quite a bit of skill, accuracy and strength to use properly. A handgun though was... simple. Too simple. Point and shoot. Some elders claimed it was an omen, a sign that some would rather replace their dwindling shinobi numbers with rank and file soldiers who could get results without effort or discipline. Ren wasn't sure about all of that but he didn't like the idea of them. So loud, so passionless. He plugged his ears during the demonstration, his expression vaguely somber until sensei returned to him.

He was excited to learn more from her but he tried his best to hide his disappointment as she showed him her next trick. Not that it wasn't amazing. It compensated for the dagger's length and then some, no doubt a useful trick. But just imagining himself trying to perform it made his palms sore. There was no way he'd be able to pull off the technique with the state his chakra was in. Perhaps even she knew that as she simply instructed him to keep practicing rather than attempt the move himself. He practiced even more fervently than before, taking vicious gashes out of the dummy to the point he was having to stop to get his grip on the weapon.

Rinko blushed when the teacher made a comment about the ‘stupid’ dummies. It wasn’t surprising that Kanagawa-sensei heard, but it was all the more embarrassing that Rinko couldn’t even handle a non-movin target. But that just gave her the determination to do better with her other weapons. Rinko got the attention first this time as she was taught how to properly use her firearm. She nodded her head with each step, watching Nozomi’s hands with intensity. When instructed, Rinko covered her ears before the first shot rang through the training area. Despite her attempt to block out the sound, the gunshot still rattled the tanuki girl. Okay...maybe a loud weapon wasn’t such a good idea after all. Kanagawa-sensei kept firing, almost as if she were in a meditative state. She was precise, so much so that Rinko wondered if her teacher was using chakra to manipulate the bullets. But it didn’t really feel like she was channeling anything, so her accuracy probably came from years of practice. Rinko glanced to the other student and cocked an eyebrow at the kid’s funny face. Her classmate didn’t seem too pleased, but she couldn’t really tell why. It was probably all the noise the gun made. She felt bad that she was going to have to continue shooting it for a couple more minutes. The best she could do was take her time aiming to stall for time.

And so, after Kanagawa-sensei gave the other student advice, Rinko faced a clean dummy and held up the gun. She shifted her hands a bit, trying to perfectly match Nozomi’s grip. While she aimed the barrel at the dummy’s chest, a thought occurred to her. I can’t close my ears if I hold the gun. This weapon was becoming more trouble than it was worth. But she didn’t want to back out now. Even if this specific weapon wasn’t her style, the knowledge of its use could one day save her. Her gaze flicked to the large cannon on the cart. I bet I wouldn’t need precision with that massive hunk of metal. And I could probably slap on some ear guards and not feel so vulnerable. Rinko blinked a few times to pull herself back to the task at hand. Her father had taught her how to shift chakra in the body, using it to lessen an attack or power a punch. So perhaps it could be pushed to her ears to deafen the blast of the handgun? The sound around her quieted as her chakra flowed upwards. She pulled the trigger of her weapon, flinching a bit at the hard kickback. The shot hit into the left side of right side of the dummy. Rinko smiled, happy that her chakra idea worked, but quickly realized it wouldn’t be practical in a real combat setting. Either way, she fired a few more aimed shots, hitting random locations on the body of the dummy. Once the allotted practice time was over, Rinko walked over to the table of firearms and placed the pistol down, as she didn’t feel comfortable with it sitting in her skirt pocket. She pulled out the fan and looked inquisitively at Nozomi, ready for the tail end of the lesson.

Nozomi watched the students practice their arms once more before holding up a hand to wrap everything up. She cleared her throat, reached into her pockets and tossed Rinko a small item; a shallow, cylindrical tube with a top on it. Inside were rubber plugs meant to go inside of the person's ears. "You'll want those," she stated. She wished she had the luxury of ear-plugs when she was younger. It's a bit of a luxury item when all you were was a vessel for a rifle and your life meant nothing in the grand-scheme of things; let alone your ability to hear things. As long as Nozomi was capable of firing the rifle and killing other people, her mental and physical health didn't matter.

Clearing her throat, she took a step back away from the weapons. "You both did a very good job for the first time wielding those weapons. Those first weapons, you are welcome to take home and train with. The handgun, however," she said as she turned to look towards Rinko. "That one stays. Can't have you holding something dangerous like that without the proper training," she mentioned. She hooked a thumb to the bin with the weapons in it as if to signal to them that that's where it belonged.

"Well, now that this class is over, I expect you two must be ready for a Genin exam? I wish you both the best and hope to see you two sprout into strong shinobi," she said before looking around in a suspicious manner. She waved them over, as if to follow her, and walked over to the cannon that was sitting on the cart. With Herculean strength, she picked up the weapon and hefted it up upon her shoulders. "Cover your ears and stand back" she said as she planted her feet firmly, aimed the weapon straight up into the air and fired. A massive explosion could be heard coming from the canon as it shot her straight down into the ground. She quickly recovered and ran like the wind away from where the canon-ball was supposed to land. "Move or die!" she shouted out. It didn't seem like it would come down any moment now, but it was still better safe than sorry.

The shell wouldn't land until after he students left. But damnit, shooting off that canon was cool as shit, right?
