Physical Description: At first glance to most people, the most striking features that are immediately noticeable about Tomomi are the traits inherited as one of the Byakko, namely being her fluffy feline ears, tail, and slitted pupils. She's certainly on the smaller side of things for her age, standing at just four feet and four inches, with a rather petite frame to compliment this; she does however have a surprising degree of lean muscle development. Tomo's hair is a light honey brown color, the same hue continuing along her ears aside from their black tips and the white fuzz along the inner edges. Her tail is a significantly darker brown, nearly black, with stripes along it of a lighter hue closer to her hair. Oddly enough given her sun soaked home, Tomo is fairly pale, her otherwise smooth skin flecked with nicks and scars here and there from training and admittedly rather reckless play. Her eyes are quite large and expressive, a bright gold-amber color, and certainly belie her emotions to an extent. Tomomi tends to gravitate towards baggier clothing for the most part, and is very infrequently seen without the slightly oversized red jacket given to her by her mother, with black fur around the collar and wrists. She favors boots over sandals most of the time, and in general is fond of neutral and earth tones. She has two gold hoops in her left ear and one in her right. She typically either has her nails painted black or not at all.
Mental Description: Tomomi could be most concisely described as quite the feisty kid, almost perpetually full of energy and ready to take on any fight she finds herself up against, be it a battle of wits, a trading of friendly jabs at one another, or an actual spar, often in circumstances that she knows aren't tilted in her favor. A boundless and unquenchable curiosity to explore and learn pervades her day to day life; and though she certainly has a tendency towards laziness from time to time, she won't shy away from working hard toward her goals as long as she believes she'll grow as a person along the way. Tomo has a fairly significant fear of showing weakness of nearly any kind, and as such constantly strives to prove herself to her peers as well as her elders; even though she's become reasonably skilled at masking her true emotions, those that are fairly observant are typically able to see through this when she's in a genuinely bad mood. This compulsion to present herself as stronger than she truly is has only grown recently with the loss of her parents, the wall that she's built in her heart between the persona she projects and the grief that she's tried with only partial success to bury growing thicker as time goes on.
History: Tomomi was born as the first and only child of Byakko Ikumi and Byakko Gen, two ANBU that were quite skilled, though not particularly well known outside the clan, all things considered. Almost as soon as she was able to walk, Tomo displayed a great love of fighting in many forms, practicing taijutsu especially with her parents as frequently as she was able to. Known throughout the clan as a bit of a troublemaker and most certainly a handful as far as keeping an eye on, she admired both her parents greatly and aspired to be just like them, or as close as she could manage, for as long as she could remember. That said, she didn't show a particularly vested interest in her father's medical knowledge, preferring any and all physical activity that she could fit in. Over time, some people throughout the village became aware of her tendency to go around challenging people to all manner of contests simply to prove her own perceived personal strength, anything from who could count and eat some bizarre, exact number of grains of rice first, to very elaborate games of hide, seek, as well as simply sparring.
All signs pointed toward Tomomi entering the academy without incident for quite a while; she had been keeping up in her preparations as best as she could, and she was planning on going when she turned ten just as both of her parents did. However, things simply don't always work out in the idealized way that Tomo still viewed the world, and her entrance was put on hold by an unseen but heart rending event just a week before her tenth birthday. During a mission to assassinate a missing-nin that they had been tracking for a fair amount of time, things quickly took a turn for the worse when two more enemies abruptly joined the fray, resulting in both the missing-nin and Gen and Ikumi's deaths after a drawn out and very close battle. It goes without saying that Tomomi was devastated by this revelation, and after an initial and shockingly brief period of openly grieving, she became closed off to the entire situation, at least externally. Her care has since fallen to her clan as a whole, and she has tended toward bits of mischief to distract herself from the wound left by her parents' departure. Turning all of her focus singularly to her training, Tomimi entered the academy a little over two months after the had initially planned to, with a simple but firm vow to become even stronger than her parents had hoped for her, and to do justice to the memory they left behind.
