Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

He properly stacks the papers and documents among the many that had been stacking up in Osu’s office. He had a feeling his teacher wouldn’t be liking it when he gets back from whatever he’s up to, so before any bedpan duty begins, Kiri slips past the office doors, easily maneuvering his way through the hospital and out. It wasn’t even dawn yet but he had already began his day, and the rest of it was already planned. Thankfully, his leave of absence from the hospital was approved last night…. though a little too late for comfort, but it would have to do.

He arrived at the designated training grounds of the Academy, the place having been setup prior and all ready for the exam. He beamed with pride as his chakra engulfed his body and the light began to revolve with a soothing glare as he approached the platform at the center of the open-space training grounds. With each step, bits of the chakra glow would trail as his height increased, until he reached what would be his full adult height. And in the wake of his transformation, his wings would give a few flaps before tucking right in behind his back. It was always a strange sensation to feel them as part of his body and he was still in the process of getting used to it. Nevertheless, Kiri the proctor was very much prepared for today’s ranking up exam, and unlike the previous one he held, this would not be so much of a classroom setup.

In the middle of the wide-open space of the training ground, a flat surface of around 30 feet wide in all corners have been raised and mounted with a wooden platform. At first glance, it may seem like a normal platform, a stage for some event, but maybe on a second look, it could resemble more of a ring where battles took place. He’d leave the interpretations to the candidates as he took his place at the head of the platform where dais was propped. He made a few seals and then let his chakra surge, summoning two slug friends to appear, one orange named Tyki, and a blue one named Tomo. They were about 1-feet tall each and seemed to be wearing armors, and had determined looks on their faces.

“Now, we just wait for the candidates to arrive,” said Kiri as he sat on the ground to carry the slugs onto his lap and snuggle them as if they were plushies. Yawning, he added, “I wonder if one of them could share a bento while at it. I forgot to bring mine. Aaaaaaa…..”

Looking down, Kiri pulls out a notebook from one of the pockets hidden in his white robes and began flipping through the pages. It held in it the dossiers he made for each of the candidates. He was quite interested in the people listed, probably more so because he was interested in meeting the new generation of Kumogakure’s elites… would-be elites. He just hoped that he would have a higher passing rate this time, with his last exam only really passing half of the class. But that didn’t mean he would be lax. He still needed to make sure the candidates were worthy.

Ryu spent another sleepless night on the roof of the teahouse he called home, staring up into the cloudy skies of Kumogakure. While the rumors of this place being a bloodthirsty, military-crazed state were pretty common, Ryuichi saw it for how it really was. Just another ninja village.

One that rested in the mountain tops to see around for miles, one that always had the fresh smell of rain lingering despite the actual act of raining being a rarity, and one that e called home.

Recently he was given word that he was to take part in a chuunin exam, to test his metal and see if he was worthy of donning the official title of Mempo ANBU...it was a bit of a surprise to him in all honesty. He was expecting to be a trainee well into his twenties, or even thirties as many others were. However today, and possibly several days into the future, would help set his future in stone.

Contemplating as to if he should actually go through with it, Ryu eventually noticed the sun rising in the distance and figured it wouldn't hurt to go to the exam location to size everything up. With a sigh, and a hand seal he focused chakra into his legs and feet and began to dart along the rooftops towards the academy.

Being back here brought back some memories for the white haired youth. Memories of endless studying, training, and near-death exercises, but still memories that he held dear. In time he found himself walking past his old classroom, and an empty closet that he hid out in whenever he was mad at....his father.

Not wanting to linger on wounds left behind, Ryu walked to where he was needed. Eventually he found himself in the designated area with kiri sitting around with a couple colored slugs, and wings....

'why him...' Ryu thought to himself as he gained an expression of pure dread. After getting his summon "injured" two fights in a row (despite any battle damage being nothing but cracks in the stone whale's skin) he was given a serious, and constant talking to by the white-cloaked nin.

With this setup most likely hinting at a battle test, all Ryu could do was hope for the best, and with Kiri didn't rig this for him...

"Yo." Ryu said out loud simply, not letting his stone solid expression shift.

Celebrating too early was one of those classic mistakes heralded as one of those standard, well known sins in competition. Nonetheless... Nonetheless, ensuring that he was loose and capable of acting in a spontaneous manner was, Tetsu believed, the surest way to earn himself a victory in the trials that awaited him. He stood in the forest, outside of his dirt hut, staring at a bottle of bourbon. He was probably going to ace this exam. Fate had marked him as a child of destiny, as he was coming to realize with greater certainty with each passing day. So why not have a glass of aged bourbon to celebrate? A little now, a little later; aim to make the whole day consistently amazing. Even though he hated bourbon, he had to say, but he wanted so desperately to be the type of person who loved it. Yes, this mattered even as he stood by himself in an empty forest; the truth was the truth even when no one was looking. He would force himself to love it.

It was probably a bad idea to keep relying on these kinds of vices to get himself through difficult moments, he had to admit.

Oh well, down the hatch.

He would have to learn the hard way, after he received some kind of negative feedback from the outside world, and what could that be, anyway? Losing his wife? Ending up homeless? Don't make Tetsu laugh. He walked to the stadium feeling invincible as the sun slowly crept up from the depths of the trees and mountainous peaks.

Was it a stadium though? Some might simply call it the training grounds, but the raised lei tai style platform certainly set the occasion for a big fighting event. Could this venue be for some kind of elaborate misdirection made to have it's contestants believe and prepare for a battle, only to have their expectations subverted at the last moment? No, I mean, who would do that, and what would be the point? So, knowing that, who would be the fighters? Well, there were two little slugs dressed in what looked like armor. They looked ridiculous and nonthreatening, which, if Tetsu knew his anime, meant that they were going to be disgustingly powerful, because that is what's going to make the defeat of their opponent's all the more humiliating. Life imitating art, seems like.

God, Tetsu felt the dread bubbling up in his stomach. Was this really going to be part of his legacy? Having to suffer a humiliating and slimy defeat at the prolegs of these disgusting chibi creatures? No! He wouldn't stand for it. "Hey," He called out to the other boy standing and looking at the creatures. "It's so funny, I was just talking to this friend of mine about the slug dishes we used to eat in Tea Country. Did you know it's a delicacy down there?" Obviously, Tetsu had never been to Tea Country or eaten slugs (despite being occasionally tempted by budgetary concerns), but it was important to do everything you could to put your enemy on tilt. "It's pretty gross to think about, but actually they taste pretty good once you can get past appearances. Anyway, very weird to see some as part of our exam here." The boy now looked amiably at the slugs and the other boy cradling them. 'Yes', He wanted to say with his glance, 'If you fight me and lose, I'm going to eat you.' "I'm Tetsu. Which one of you is leading the exam here?" He probably should have considered that question a little more seriously before antagonizing the boy with the slugs, but oh well, it's not like he was sober enough to be held accountable for his actions.

It had been a cold winter day when Inugami Akira and his canine companion Kuro had received orders to return to Kumogakure to take part in the next promotional exams for the future elites. Perhaps his successful missions and tasks had impressed his superiors as he was quite often the youngest in his generation to accomplish these tasks. The duo had been taking part in mountain training as well as hunting and learning the beasts of the mountains as their nomadic life dictated. In his right hand was a leather-bound journal which was an Inugami bestiary for any encounters that were unknown to him and his clan. He stood up upon receiving the letter as he dusted himself off. Kuro leaped upon the boys head, not an overly impressive task considering his short height at his young age. Taking one last glance at the mountains, he made his way back towards Kumogakure.

Upon nearing the obstacle courses, his eyes, as well as Kuro's, studied the area with awe and fascination. It had been quite some time since he was last in this area for training. The last training session he could recall was with a much older and more experienced Inuzuka descendant such as himself. A mentor of sorts, though the man did have a habit of scaring off the rest of his class. Albeit the energetic and overly optimistic young Akira was too oblivious to the signs that the cannibal could have been dangerous.

The wooden platforms, however, were new, as if emphasizing the events that would take place. Instead of being nervous about the examination, the young Inugami was excited at the prospect of doing something exciting with his boundless energy. Though "exciting" for the young one often meant life-threatening and dangerous as he wasn't precisely the cautious type, perhaps time and experience could change that.

Once arriving at the noted destination, he saw other students, an unknown older shinobi, and two slug-like creatures that took the field. The slugs were unfamiliar to both Akira and Kuro, something neither of them had experience with despite their nomadic lifestyle. Their eyes studied the creatures with fascination as they took mental notes for their bestiary notes. Seeing and meeting new creatures and animals always fascinated the Inugami's after all.

The two other students were unfamiliar to the young Inugami. Both of the shinobis seemed significantly older than the young Akira. He was but a child in their presence and markedly shorter as a result. One of the boys snow-white skin matched Akira's own as well, possessing strange eyes as well to counteract Akira's golden wolf eyes. The other looked even older if possible, someone Akira would mistakenly identify as an adult. Lastly, there was the last shinobi who surpassed them all in age. Kiri's reddish hair drew attention to the duo. It was an assortment of odd and strange characters after all. Not a single one looked normal though the currently only child in the group carrying a black wolf on his head didn't help the situation either.

Akira was free-spirited and seemingly comfortable in the situation, as if not realizing his status as the only child there was a bit odd. With childlike innocence and joy, he happily spoke to the group, "Hi! Inugami Akira and Kuro reporting for duty."

It was a nice moment, all the students showing up, eager to advance in life with varying amounts of excitement and/or etiquette about it. Digestive tract threats were typically not the ideal way to make new friends outside of some very specific, very unique circumstances that probably were best not spoken of around nuns or men of the cloth. Typically, this was the kind of group that Ikko would usually jump right in to with an attempt to inject his personal brand of humor, fun, and energetic joy into proceedings to make certain elements not such grumpy downer pantses. However, unfortunately for Arakaru Kano, he would remain the only aspiring Chuunin present to be trying to have a good time.

'Fwoosh'

From the side, the group would hear a steady whistling noise for but a moment before a small metal box would burst onto the scene, hurtling straight for the side of Kiri's head and laden with rice and cute little ornate looking shrimp nestled inside, fully with the intent of clocking the proctor on the side of the head without a hint of pity or remorse. Whether or not Kiri was currently covered in fried rice and seafood, Ikko would fly into the area from the direction of the box as if he was fired out of a cannon, skidding to a dramatic stop right in front of Kiri and the slugs, dramatically kicking up dirt and muck behind him as he slid to a stop right in front of his old teacher, inwardly proud of his accomplishment, and quickly turned to Kiri to state his case, seemingly oblivious to the three people behind him.

"KiriKiriKiriKiriKiri, so, I know, you told me to be here within five minutes of Twelve o' Eight in order to keep a brisk and prompt timeline and...hey it's like two o' one maybe, jeeze Kiri why are you still here? You're so late...oh hey Tyki and Tomo, how are y...anyway, not important, what is important is that, stay with me on this one, Eishi totally just started trying out this new sleep aid so he can sleep while I'm talking and I really really really really wanna go draw doodles on his face but I dunno when he's going to wake up. So can I go Kiri? Please Please Please Please Please Please Please?"

Ikko seemed to be bouncing excitedly with each word that came from his mouth, which was more akin to trying to physically punch his body into the ground as the boy barely spared any time to breath as he rapidly vocalized every thought that seemed to come to his face, up until one of his bounces turned him ever so slightly to the left and he noticed the three people behind him. Slowing to a stop and with a slight tilt of his head, Ikko took in the three behind him for a few moments before seeming to come to some realization.

"Oh...right...exam...wow Kiri you keep making them wait. That's super irresponsible of you. So can I blow off the exam and go draw on Eishi's face? Can I Can I Can I Can I?"

No, Kiri hadn't been able to kill Ikko's childishness.

Waiting on the propped platform, Kiri watched the approaching participants one by one. For the most part, he didn’t want to sound judgmental but he was. One look at Ryuichi and he immediately remembered the boy’s case from before (one where the boy was sparring with his friend, or so, and ended up getting beaten black and blue, which also resulted in being brought to the hospital in an untimely manner) and so he would only nod at the boy. Next, he looked to the other side as another participant would come up to him. This one seemed to be all heart, though, as he wanted to show his confidence with the way he talked. But of course, there was no need to actually talk back to the man if he wanted it be that way. Instead, Kiri would just look down at his slugs and then back to the man and say, “Don’t worry, the bigs ones also tend to eat humans. It’s really just natural to be eaten if you’re weak.” Of course, he smiled after saying that and then looked to the side to find another one coming their way, and he seemed quite polite for someone who was… Kiri had to pause his train of thoughts as he took out the notepad once more and looked at the list for today’s participants before looking back up. “Ah, the ANBU kid. Nice to have you join us.”

Just then, something flew towards his head, right until a cloud of smoke puffed and the sad lunch box fell to the ground along with a log. Kiri was seen standing right next to the boisterous boy, sighing. “You never change, do you?” Kiri said while still carrying the two slugs in his arm as if they were plush. Well, they might as well be. “Right… Eishi… who’s that again?” He said before placing Tyki on top of Ikko’s head. “The name sounds familiar. Wait for a bit.” He then walked towards the arrogant man and threw Tomo at him, with the slug acrobatically turning in the air before landing on the Tetsu’s face, ooze and goo seemingly helping to keep the slug say put with a grin on his face.

With that done, Kiri would burst out from the scene, making his exit of the platform before a dome of black shadows covers the entire area of the platform, with everyone inside, except for Kiri outside. And he then shouted, “Okay, listen quickly. Ikko, you’re with Ryu, and Hungry-tetsu, you’re with Kano. Make a team and protect your slug. The team that loses their slug will be regarded as the loser, and automatically fail the exam, while the team that manages to get hold of the other team’s slug will automatically be the winner and pass with special recommendations. Also, if you attempt to leave the dome, you’ll fail.”

Just then, an eerily resounding sound filled the platform as something would form amongst the darkness, rising tall in pure black humanoid form carrying a long sword that dropped and jagged the wooden platform with no problem at all. It blended well within the darkness of the dome with only its red eyes alerting its location.

“In addition, there’ll be a surprise. If you get knocked out, you lose as well. If you die… well, that’s the shinobi life for you,” added Kiri. “You guys have fifteen minutes. Mission, start!”

It had been a turbulent couple of weeks since his departure from the ANBU and into main branch and the most stressful thing for him was the gotdamn paperwork. You would think of all branches that the ANBU would have the least amount of paperwork but Mishiku was completely wrong in that logic. It was an adjustment period to be sure but he had enough of following the family line of becoming an ANBU in his family and he wanted to forge his own destiny without his Father telling him what he should and shouldn't do. The universe, however, seemed to think otherwise as once his admission into main branch had been complete he was told that they had no record of him ever taking the Chuunin exams four years ago and that he would have to take the exam all over again in order for his rank to be restored. Mishiku knew this was the work of his father in an attempt to bring him back into the ANBU but going as far as removing his Chuunin exam records? That was fucked up. Over the course of the past week, Mishiku tried to do all he could to gain his Chuunin rank back but he had no other choice but to sign up for an exam that was approaching and do it all over again.

The date had finally arrived for Mishiku to take his exam, even though it frustrated Mishiku to the core that he had to retake the exam all over again he knew that there was no use in complaining about it, "Just get it done and keep it moving." He thought to himself as he made his towards the Coliseum in where the exam was located carrying a midsize package, one of his new superiors who happened to retire from the ANBU, which could not be a coincidence in the slightest, had handed him the package and told him that he was to deliver it to the exam proctor. Once Mishiku arrived he realized that he was late to the party and it looked as if the exam was just about to begin, "lucky timing." he thought to himself as he approached the exam proctor and handed him the package, "I was ordered to deliver this to you for the exam and that you would be expecting me, my name is Mishiku." Mishiku looked at the other participants and only recognized two of them, one was the man who looked like a mummy that he had met in a mission that required a team of ANBU to traverse the dark caverns near the ANBU HQ. The other was Tetsu, which was a complete surprise in seeing him. Mishiku had invited him to his clan's feast a week ago and once he started to eat and drink, Tetsu became much friendlier than when they had met in the kiosk but maybe it was just the alcohol in them. Mishiku did recall that they both got way too drunk and went into the city to meet up with a group of women that Mishiku knew but after that everything was a blank. Mishiku walked over to Tetsu but suddenly some sort of slug acrobatically landed right on Tetsu's face. Mishiku busted out laughing as he could see the ooze from the slug trail down Tetsu's face which only prompted Mishiku to laugh even harder.

Tetsu couldn’t help but let a smile creep up his face as their teacher brushed off his veiled threat by making some quip about the strong eating the weak. Looks like he wasn’t going to take the bait. So much for putting him on tilt; and it looked like the slugs weren’t going to fight anyway, so he guessed the attempt at ruffling a few feathers was a meaningless gesture in the end.

Well, except that it seemed to result in a face full of slime as the slug was hurled at his face. It really was as disgusting as he thought it would be. That nauseating feeling his current predicament was inducing in him would soon turn to a deviously early celebratory mood as their proctor listed out the rules of the game.

The boy knew he had to act quick if he wanted to bank on his advantage, but his mind did a quick double take of those rules just to make sure he wasn’t hearing things. If you pass out, leave the ring, or lose the slug to the other team, you’ll lose the game. Was it really that simple?

As a Hashigaki, recognizing different colours was never exactly the boy’s strong suit, but light, light was a different matter. As the dome of darkness fell on them, Tetsu could feel the slight drop in temperature that resulted from sunlight no longer passing through. The fact that their examiner said that they weren’t allowed to leave the ring probably meant that that was something relatively easy to do, meaning that if they were encased in some form of darkness, that it probably wasn’t a physical barrier. He quickly threw a few hand seals together to produce three Elemental Clones, and one of them promptly ripped the slug off of Tetsu’s face and attempted to burst through the darkness and proceed to run out of the stadium. The others were probably still prodding around the darkness looking for theirs, but he’d have to act quickly if he wanted to make sure that he was the only one gaining this clear advantage.

As soon as his clone fled, he’d make sure no one plagiarized his brilliance (not that they’d be able to see it anyway) by throwing up his Nature’s Guard around the arena so that his slug and clone would be the last thing to escape it.

This was, however, just one of the four win conditions. He and his partner could still be beaten up, knocked out, or killed, so it was time to immediately consider next steps. This Kano kid (or was it Akira?) was the only other participant present who would have obviously had an advantage in the dark. The only kids who ever seem to get a pass when it came to bringing pets to an exam seemed to be those in the Inuzuka clan, after all. So, that was certainly a nice additional advantage. Ikko looked like he was going to be someone troublesome to deal with. Maybe he just hated the overly bubbly and energetic type, but that kind of boundless energy can be problematic in a fight too, and he seemed to act boisterously without a lot of thinking or hesitation; same issue. Then there was the first one there, Ryu, so far a giant mystery, and Mishiku, who Tetsu suspected might be decent in a fight, but he was irrelevant for the moment. Well. Let’s see how they all handle themselves in the darkness.

Actions:

1. Create 3 Elemental Clones (Mastered) for 2 AP.
2. One of those clones grabs the slug off of Tetsu’s face and attempts to leave the training grounds with it using it’s own AP.
3. Construct Nature’s Guard (Mastered) around the borders of the platform, keeping everything within it for 3 AP

Conditionals:

If my clone is unable to leave the platform, I would like to instead have it return the slug to Tetsu’s head, and Tetsu will form the barrier around himself and his slug alone instead.

That was playing dirty. If Kiri had made it a free for all or anything of the sort where Ikko was responsibly solely for himself, he'd have just left. He didn't really care about this stupid exam. The ranks were rather arbitrary to begin with. The sole benefits were getting to leave the village when he wanted and he could teach little kids...ignoring that no one in their right mind would let Ikko take on students, he didn't actually want to leave the village. He spent enough time outside the village as it was. But no, Kiri now tied another's fate to Ikko's performance, so now abandoning the exam would punish someone other than Ikko, and the boy simply wasn't callous enough to do such a thing. Damnit Kiri. That and he "forgot" who Eishi was despite having more classes with him than with Ikko, which deserved a right quick bop across the bonce for Kiri, Damnit Kiri strike two.

Ikko let out a heavy sigh as Kiri went off explaining the rest of the exam and reached up to pet the slug atop his head before cradling it down into his palm. The rules were simple enough, but Kiri was playing to something that was specifically in Ikko's advantage, he was setting up a finite arena. Perfect for Ikko. He barely reacted when the shadows had begun to envelop the area, that was the most "Kiri" setting imaginable so blackness being added barely even registered on Ikko's radar. Kiri did what he expected to. As such, he already had his course of action set. If everyone needed to stay within the confines of the arena, that meant nothing was going to be escaping his either. As the shadows finished blotting out the rest of the light, Ikko made the last few calculations on the size of the area Kiri allotted.

"Hang in there little guy...this might be a bit chilly. I've never tried to bring anything else in with me before. Let's see how it goes."

As he spoke to the slug, the open area of the arena was progressively becoming not especially open. The air around them, temperature dropping slightly in response to the light shutting off, now seemed to drop precipitously. All around the arena, water vapor in the air was mixed with the chakra pouring out of Ikko, forming a dome of loosely forming single panes of sheet ice, perfectly reflective if there was any light to reflect. All the while as they formed, Ikko kept petting the small slug, apparently not needing to use his hands to form these panes of ice, but that'd be fairly difficult to notice in the pitch darkness as the boy tucked the slug into his coat before stepping into one of the panes, melding seamlessly into the ice itself. Now he just needed to find what to hit with his stick.

As Ikko drew his weapon, it would seem that something was coming his way. Following the sound of the footsteps, as the clone's foot slapped the ground, Ikko's form would shoot out of the mirror in its way and, with a pair of quick swipes of this staff, would attempt to crack the meat of the weapon against the legs of the oncoming enemy, aiming to hobble it or push it back toward the center at the very least before he would then quickly retreat back into the mirror behind him, aiming to maintain his perimeter. Box and confine first, destroy second.

"It's Ocha, actually." Ryu said plainly to the proctor with his ancient-kumokagurian accent. He didn't feel the need to say much more, so he instead directed his attention to the instructions, the setting, and the rules. 'So it's like a retrieval mission. Get the package with little care for the lives of the holders, with the other team having the same goal. Nothing much else to worry about, and little fear of Kiri trying to make it harder for the rippled-eye boy.

Glancing to the one he assumed to be 'Ikko' who was holding their slug Ryu gave himself some time to think up a plan. For now? Wing it.

When the fight started, ryu held up two hand seals and began to channel chakra throughout his body. A lot of chakra. A ton of chakra. enough to cause loose debris to float from the ground due to the sheer density of the surrounding energy. The darkness surrounding them didn't even cause Ryuichi to halt when he had gathered enough to slam the floor, and shout "OFUDA!" as all the surrounding pebbles and dirt fell back to the ground. Then, a huge rubble would be felt in the area, followed by a mighty bellow. "I AM HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE!!!" He yelled as if singing.

"IT'S FAR TOO DARK IN HERE! WHO SUMMONED THE MIGHTY BOGULAHANULABUGA, THE GREAT ARMORED WHALE?" Said the voice. Ryu was quick to get a headache, and say in a much quieter voice "You probably gave away your position. We're here to defend a slug, and take someone else's. I want you to cause some damage while I come up with a plan. Don't give the enemy any wiggle room."

"CAN DO, SIR/MA'AM OCHAICHI-NI!!" "Just Ocha." "RIGHT!"

With a sigh, Ryu prepared himself, and cracked his fingers. "Bogu. As of right now, consider this mission as a protocol: ingot" He said, flexing through more handseals

"And how do you expect me to move in the dark on land?" Bogu said, calming down and starting to think rationally for some reason. "Already got it covered."

with that, the entire ground began to twist and warp into nearly knee-high mud that was hard to even shift around in, aside from two small pieces of solid land. One below Ryu, and another below his team mate.

As if on queue, Bogu began to slide and rampage around, avoiding the shiny ice mirrors as he assumed Ryu's protection of it meant they were an ally. "Now, I have an idea." Ryu said, as he began moving towards the mirrors to talk to their team mate...

Kiri had to admit that this bunch was rather creative, if not, altogether daring. Just then, there was another exam-taker that appeared. He greeted him casually as he took the paper that the boy had reached out. Before the boy could get close to the dome of darkness, however, a long oozing slime would have wrapped itself around Mishiku’s body, stopping him in place, before quickly pulling him back, like an elastic band, situating him just next to Kiri, and probably to his surprise, to a giant blue slug that has now appeared behind the said exam proctor. “Don’t get too hasty, kid,” said Kiri as he folded the recommendation paper he was given with. “For now, just observe from here.”
TgO5ZvS.jpg

Standing up from where he was earlier seated by the ground, Kiri’s chakra would focus all around him. He could sense the various entities inside the shadowy dome, and he almost chuckled when one of the examinees had apparently made clones with one of it fleeing towards the edge of the dome, only to be stopped by an invisible solid surface, like a lizard squished agains the surface of the obsidian dome. He snickered. “Don’t try to escape. I’m being patient as is,” he said, hoping the clone would think of a different way, and so the clone did run back to its master.

The other boy wasn’t so loud – chakra-wise – so, Kiri wondered if this Tetsu would be put into a disadvantage. But as for Ikko, he knew better than to expect the boy to be reckless. For once, the ice-prince was showing promise and responsibility. Defensive– thought Kiri, but it wouldn’t be long before the offensive happen with Ryu taking the helm to attack. And just like that, Kiri’s eyes were treated to a wonderful display of summoning a large stonewhale. He had the honor of meeting strong whales before, especially the lovely Dayuu – the preferred summon of his mentor, but this whale seemed uncommon as well, enough for Kiri to take a liking. Still, he’ll see how the rest would fare. Some

“So, Mishiku, was it?” He began to say, as he waved his hand in front of him, as if orchestrating something, before stopping with a fist clenched. “Question number one. Who is the weakest link among those inside the dome? Tell me and why. Your assessment will be tested.”

Saying so, there was an ominous roar from within the dome. Inside, the tall humanoid shadowy being began to move by expelling a veil of black flames that spread across the area, meeting and fracturing some of the mirrors, if not breaking a few. Then, in it’s wake, he rushed across the surface swing it’s large blade at Ryu’s body.

(RYU:please roll to see if you dodged this. Roll 1 dice: 15 or higher means you’ve dodged it; if not, you are hit by the blade and 1/3 of your HP is depleted. If you plan to retaliate: refer to the instructions at the bottom of this post, the target is the Shadow Entity).
8juPG8x.jpg
But that wasn’t all there was. Something else was about them. Something almost inhuman. A grin crossed his face as the entity began to walk clearer into view. Tall, muscular, whose yellow garb drapes from his waist, leaving a touch of black armor across his shoulders, and long white hair, pale skin with mesmerizing red eyes. Feral teeth with a mischievous glance that looked at Ikko’s direction from behind the boy. This was Hogosha, not one to hide his presence.“You’ve grown, boy. But let’s see if you’ve improved. Then again, I don’t think you’ve met me personally.” At those words, a dark hue would begin to surround the mirrors, like a mist that thickens. But this particular mist is quite dangerous once exposed to human skin.

(IKKO: when leaving the mirrors, roll 1 dice: if 12 or below, you are afflicted by Red Haze [Master rank])
(RYU: if you stay within the vicinity of the mirrors, roll 1 dice: if 12 or below, you are afflicted by Red Haze [Master rank]).

Before it was over, there was another presence within the dark realm. It felt calm, though it had a humanoid shape if someone was trying to see through the chakra. It stood just behind where Tetsu and Akira (not Kano- sorry about that earlier). But without warning, a strange hollow sound would echo across the field. Innocent at first, but soon enough, there was strong colliding force against Tetsu’s erected shield. One, two, three, four, five, six… In quick succession, the sound was a barrage that seemingly did not care until it would break shatter the barrier. “Don’t forget your partner,” said a calm voice, seemingly alluding to the distracted Akira as the latter was about to be struck by something sharp.

(TETSU: if you plan to interfere, roll 1 dice: if 15, you can step in between a large blade of the shadow entity and Akira; if not, you fail to help.)
(AKIRA: if you want to act in time, whether to dodge or retaliate, roll 1 dice: If 15 or higher, you can move in time; if not, then you are struck by a blade that can deplete 1/3 of your health and deal bleeding. If you plan to retaliate, please refer how to the instructions at the bottom of this post, the target is the Shadow Entity.)

“You seem reliable.” But that wasn’t enough it seemed, as the calmer entity still unknown to most, and standing closer to Tetsu and Akira was just beginning, with a sudden surge of chakra before it disappeared.

(TETSU: roll 1 dice-> if 17 or below, you are struck by Spiritual Anguish Rank 2)

Kiri scrunched up his nose, furrowed his brows and then dropped down to a sit and a loud exhale. He panted for a moment before he recovered and then smiled when he felt a gentle ooze of healing goo from Piucca the large slug. “Thanks. I knew it would be problematic to do this, but you’re helping me, so that’s fine. Now, let’s see how they’ll handle my ancestors.”

  • Same thing. You have 5AP worth of actions. Invest wisely.
  • Since I don’t want this to rely solely with stats, hence I encourage you guys to be creative in what you do, some of the damage represented here are not exactly as is during official bmod. However, whenever you see actual damage numbers, just try to imagine how that would be in a descriptive way in terms to your characters.
  • I have given rolling instructions within the post for you, that will help determine if whatever course of action you take will be successful or not. They are colored green to be easily spotted, with your individual names listed for each specific potential action. Take note, the rolls are from the perspective of you reacting to said targets. You won’t spend AP unless you are directed to refer to the instructions at the bottom of this post.
  • For questions, please contact me, DM or PM

When making actions against targets (other than the opposing team):
  • In attempting to locate and attempt to hit the Shadow Entity: You will need to spend 1 AP, and roll 1 dice -> must get 15 or higher to hit.
  • In attempting to successfully hit Hogosha: You will need to roll 1 dice and must be higher than 13 for range/nin/gen or 16 for melee. (He is not hiding his presence so no need to spend AP to locate him.)
  • In attempting to locate and attempt to hit the mystery Calm Entity still hidden in the shadow behind Tetsu: You will need to spend 2 AP and roll 1 dice be higher than 16.

The Weakest Link

Mishiku attempted to go to the rest of the examinees to get well acquainted with who his peers were but before Mishiku was close he was suddenly constricted by some type oozing slime that held him in place and pulled him back to the proctor’s side, like an elastic rubber band. “Don’t get too hasty, kid, for now, just observe from here.” The proctor said as a giant blue slug maneuvered behind him as if they were the best of buds. The giant slug may have thrown Mishiku off from the sheer size of it but he was more concerned about the slime that had gotten all over his clothes, not to mention how gross it felt.

“Ughhh, I really liked these pair of clothes too.” Mishiku said in frustration as he tried to free himself from the oozing slime but it was no use, the slime felt as strong as iron and no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t get free. He sighed and looked around to find his peers group up in pairs and prepare to defend their own miniature versions of the slug or so that’s what Mishiku thought he heard the proctor to say but then again he did arrive late to the party and there could of been some important pieces that he had missed.

“So, Mishiku, was it?” The proctor began to say, as he waved his hand in front of Mishiku, as if orchestrating something, before stopping with a fist clenched. “Question number one. Who is the weakest link among those inside the dome? Tell me and why. Your assessment will be tested.” Mishiku looked over to his peers and watched as the two mysterious fighters were kicking their ass for the most part, especially Tetsu’s group as the mysterious fighter utterly shattered the large wall that Tetsu created with ease.

“Who is that?” Mishiku said, astonished by how this figure was able to destroy Tetsu’s massive chakra wall with relative ease. He looked back over to the proctor, “I would have to say Tetsu’s team due to that thing shattering his barrier like it was a stick. Are you satisfied now? Cause they could use some help in taking that thing down.” Mishiku said as he attempted to break out of the slime yet again with his own physical strength without wasting chakra.

Ryu was moments away from alerting his team mate within the mirror dome of his arrival, with a plan in mind before something stuck him as....odd. Perhaps it was just the chaos happening elsewhere, with a massive stone whale flailing like some kind of tuna or perhaps it was a part of the jutsu casting the whole area in darkness. Ryu held his suspicions as he tapped on Ikko's ice several times. "Ikko-san. Open up, I got a plan." He said before his hunch was justified.

A blade swinging at Ryu was all it took for him to duck below it and watch Ikko's dome get a heavy blow on it's outer plates. Ryu, not wanting to dwell on why this man was here, decided that whatever the rising mist was could become a problem. However, he didn't exactly have the ability to avoid the stuff so he tried to think as his skin seemed to become loose and thin at the touch of the stuff. with a wince, Ryu held one hand into the sky

Afterwards, Ryu took an offensive stance, and a swirling ball of chakra appeared in his palm. with enough concentration, it began to swell to a massive size that quadrupled that of his entire body and seemed to shake with raw, hazy white chakra with a dull blue core. The ball of raw chakra had given off enough light for Ryu to get a grasp on where everything was, and went in to try and cause some mayhem. Ignoring the feral-looking man, he faked out an attempted melee range attack on him before ducking and throwing it towards the clashing group of Tetsu, Kano, and the attacking figure. "ODAMA!" he shouted, as the thrashing Bogu noticed the attack and began to bellow.

As if singing, the whale let out a series of long and deep wailing noises before bolting towards the group. With a sweeping slide in the mud, Bogu was about to ram all of them at full force. The literal force of twelve semi trucks going 80 miles per hour, in fact. As well as having an orb of spiraling death chakra from another direction entirely.

With some panting, Ryu leaned up against the mirror dome as a grin formed on his face. He had put in nearly five times the chakra that a rasengan normally would in order for it to give off the light to make this possible. His only hope right now? That Ikko would let him in so he could catch his breath. The white haired sword-man isn't exactly helping his nerves either, as now he has to hold up his arms to defend.

Chaos seemed to be the name of the game here. It wasn't enough that they were shrouded in darkness (not that that affected Tetsu anyway), there were new monsters appearing, and not just those produced by the boy's opponents, or so it seemed, anyway, and all of this on top of the fact that the instructor introduced a rule that you were not allowed to leave an arena you couldn't apparently escape from even if you wanted to, or at least it would take a little bit of work to get to that point. What was the purpose of all of it? Was it to see how well the examinees could carry out their duties surrounded by distractions? Was it to hide some important piece to the puzzle of this test among the noise? To see how well the teams could work together for victory? Maybe to all of those, but Tetsu suspected that the real objective was nothing more than a test to see how well the troupe could get distracted from their very simple goals. As if in response to this quandary, the small, dark universe around them seemed to conspire to make the boy act on the level of confidence he had in this assumption.

One of the monsters in their little hellscape, after rudely smashing through Tetsu's shield, would proceed to attack his partner. The monster must have been able to tell that Tetsu could tell where his partner was (although that piece of information seemed somewhat useless), it didn't seem to be something produced by his opponents, especially given the thoughtful reminder not to leave his partner to get beaten, which he was imminently at risk of. Tetsu didn't even have a second moment to respond, which, on a practical level, meant that he couldn't do anything but use his own body as a meat shield to deflect the attack. If the monster didn't belong to anyone in the fight, it must have belonged to the instructor, which meant that there was a fairly good chance that the message urging Tetsu to protect his partner was some secret moral imperative that Kiri might be testing the boy for. Maybe he seemed selfish, and so the instructor wanted to make an example of that selfishness, and how shinobi need to work together to survive. Of course, the boy didn't have time to think of all of these things, it was more like an impression he was beginning to digest as he started to move. Would he protect the other boy?

No.

While it was true that teamwork was important, there was no added value to the team that could be gained if he took the brunt of the damage aimed at his partner, unless he thought his partner was better able to finish the mission, which he didn't. More to the point though, they only had one objective here. It wasn't to work together, it wasn't to fight these interfering beings, it was to capture the slug, and Tetsu didn't have time to get distracted by petty nonsense. His target was Ikko, the slug holder. As he ran toward him, however, he found himself suddenly overtaken by a paralyzing fear. He didn't exactly know where it came from, perhaps out of overconfidence in his ability to reject Genjutsu. Suddenly he felt that his actions were useless though, the the very outcome of this exam was meaningless to a young man who had not yet, in all his seventeen years, been able to gain a single look of recognition from the people in the world around him. Wasn't he just kidding himself by entering into a test like this? Once he got out of it, pass or fail, it wouldn't make difference, because the universe had already conspired to determine that he was just going to end up as one more deadbeat loser littering the sidewalks. He could never climb out of the forest he had allowed himself to become lost in. These thoughts seemed to have a paralyzing affect on his limbs too; they felt heavy.

What did he have left? No way of clearly thinking, and even if he had this, he wasn't so sure that it would make much of a difference, so he would do the obvious. Only the obvious, namely, stealing the slug, didn't seem all that feasible at the present moment, with the man holding onto it seemingly capable of teleporting all over the place. Not exactly a technique to be trifled with. Well, in lieu of that, the second best option was to turn the battle into a two versus one sort of affair, and so he turned his sights to the landwhale and it's rider. "ALRIGHT, EVERYONE INTO THE PIT."

Ikko watched as Ryu told him to come out of his rather comfortable hidey-home before, moments later, the sharp edge of a blade thronged off the frozen mirror, apparently doing its best to convince Ikko that he should do anything but listen to his partner at this point in time. The boy's head tilted to the side in puzzlement as Ryuichi proceeded to continue not to actually tell Ikko his plan, something that in a less tense situation, might have elicited a few pouts from the boy. But things changed quickly, new elements were added and for the first time in this exam, Ikko was suddenly very very excited.

It was hard to make out in this darkness, but even just from his silhouette and the fact that Kiri was here, Ikko knew exactly who Kiri had brought out to play. Ikko, with a grin, burst out of his mirror, following Ryu's advice at last as the giant Rasengan flew out and toward the mass of people making noises on the other side of the arena. That should...hopefully, keep that side of the encounter busy while Ikko focused on this one.

"Oh no, I met you, I'd remember that stupid hair anywhere. You were just bleeding a lot more than you are this time...let's fix that."

With an increasingly menacing grin, Ikko's eyes shimmered in the darkness, a brilliant blue as the cloak of chakra began to solidify; a whispy, frigid cloak enveloping Ikko's form and immediately making his typically goofy and excitable features...less so. Ikko with but a twitch of his arm, struck out at Hogosha as the water droplets in the air condensed, froze in to fifteen identical senbon of ice, and then hurled themselves down at Hogosha's form, at the same time, Ikko's other arm swung along the ground and, from the excessive amounts of mud, scattered around the arena now, Ikko hurled another batch of fifteen Senbon, now comprised of frozen mud, straight for where Hogosha would move to dodge or straight at him if he attempted to block them, hoping to start wearing him down and making him bleed with utter relentlessness. Hopefully Ryu's Rasengan was enough of a deterrent that Ikko could keep Hogosha hung up long enough with dodging him that he couldn't go after Ryu.

Things were moving rather fast. Each of the participants were able to take note of their situations and proceed accordingly. Ryuichi and Ikko were displaying quite the camaraderie that was to be expected from a team mission. Kiri nodded as he remembered the significance of team work in an actual crucial mission. Though the current situation may seem rather simple, it was enough to prompt the two to move and help each other to survive this situation. But would it be enough?

One, two, three... multiple ice-needles endless rained upon the feral warrior known as Hogosha as soon as he was in range. He waved his sword around in hopes of deterring the assault, but was quite unlucky. Multiple cuts, a few of them rather deep and letting out the blood, now gave color to his otherwise pale skin. He pitied his clothes, but his feral eyes remained on Ikko as he grinned. “See? If only you showed the same tenacity back then, you'd have been my best pick of the bunch. Well, I’m just glad you’re no longer a shorty. Even a couple of centimeters is a victory for a growing child,” he teased before he glared at Ryuichi’s rampaging stone whale. “That thing seems to be sad somehow. I’m sure Kiri would love to tame it when he can. And seeing how my time is up here, I best go straight to the next act.” He then disappeared and reappeared seemingly on top of the stone whale’s head. “Hey, Big Guy. Why don’t you calm down? It’s not good on you to be doing this. My boy, over there, Kiri would pamper you instead if you calm down. Okay? Especially since you seem to be ailing. He can treat it if you want.” He then turned to look at Ryuichi and grinned, “Your current master doesn’t know you at all.” No sooner would he begin to fade into thin air.

(RYUICHI: Roll 1 dice: if you get 12 and below, you won’t have control of Bogulahanulabuga until the end of the thread.)

Meanwhile, at the other end of the field, Tetsu was having a momentary difficulty against Yakujou’s charm. It wasn’t long before the raven-haired swordsman revealed himself. A sound barrier was erected to protect himself as the battlefield became one big jumble of a mess. He sighed when he felt Hogosha's chakra dispersing and began to worry if Kiri was overdoing it again with this plan. He'll have to trust the boy.

Then, at that point, he saw that the Shadowy Silhouette was going straight for other participant who wasn’t going to make it in time to avoid it. His caring tendency took over and he dashed for the boy and parried the flying blade before it drew blood from a mortal wound on the boy. Then, with a reprimanding stare, he looked down at Akira. “If you’re not ready for this, you shouldn’t have come.”

Back to Tetsu, as he was gathering his composure, he attempted to capture the stone whale with his jutsu, but the timing was off and the summon contract perfectly manages to escape him with a breeze. And at that point, he was off to a rampage of his own, completely forgetting the team mate, and going after Ryuichi and Ikko. Perhaps his idea of a victory was one of a solo-mission after all. Luckily, however, Ryuichi would managed to avoid his frenzied kick. But it turned out that this luck allowed Tetsu to strike the Shadowy Silhouette and the figure fell into the strange pit. An eerie roar was heard at the aftermath of it all.

(Shadowy Silhouette strangely poofs)

From outside the shadowy dome, Kiri listened to Mishiku’s assessment of the situation. He saw the facts in the boy’s words, but it was obvious that it still lacked the necessary information to completely give a complete report. “You need more depth if you want to convince me, boy. At this rate, you’re not ready to be passed your Genin stage. And trust me, I’ve failed people in the past,” said Kiri.

Things needed to come to a conclusion soon. He didn’t want this to drag on forever, but he wanted to make sure that there were more to these set of aspiring shinobis than what was currently shown. As he stood up, his chakra surged around him, blowing a gust of wind before it dispersed. Almost immediately, the shadow dome broke apart and revealed everyone inside without the annoying arena to stop them from overflowing outside. At the same time, the two slugs – Tiki and Tomo – would explode into a poof of paint, covering the heads of their currently latched individuals, giving them momentary stun and their chakra disrupted to the point that all current or maintainable jutsus would be instantly stopped. And at that very moment, Puicca the giant slug next to him whirled the boy Mishuku before throwing him to the air, almost reaching a couple of hundred feet up in the air above the destroyed wooden platform turned arena. The thing was, he was still very much stuck and paralyzed with all the slime around his body.

(MISHIKU: You may roll 1 dice: if you get above 14, you can free yourself from the slime but will be slightly paralyzed and can only cast 1 jutsu worth C-rank and below.)

Then, Kiri brought his hands over to his mouth and shouted, “Emergency Broadcast! The enemy has played you all! Your real objective is to protect the flying boy…” And then, there were suddenly a rush of black flame dragon heads that appeared behind Kiri. They surged of pure chakra energy as they stared up to the sky, before shooting up, “… from Me.”

NOTES:
At the climax of the exam, a new objective is given. Everyone has 3AP worth of actions to cast at this point. Think of this as a split-second decision from your characters on what to do. When doing so, please roll 2 dice.

All dice rolls are d20 dice.

EDIT:
- Hogosha is defeated.

That was a resounding miss for the whale, a miss for Ryuichi, his kicks in both cases striking nothing but the air around his targets. Was this really only a Chuunin exam? He was glad to see he wasn't the only underachiever in the village, although the thought did strike him that if these were really genin level shinobi he was squaring up against, and if he couldn't even manage to lay his boot on a giant whale, he may have overestimated his preparedness for this test. It was a shame too, since he really wanted to show everyone else up quickly and grab his reward. More than this though, looking at those ice mirrors, the boy found himself trying not to mesmerize himself by the power of a technique like that. To be able to teleport instantly across a battlefield... Unless there was some limit to how often something like that could be conjured, he couldn't even imagine anything in his repertoire that could even hypothetically answer a technique like that. If abilities like this existed in the world, it seemed like he was going to need to really meditate on his ability to meet them. What was left from his attempts, sadly, was the loss of nothing more than a monster that, by all accounts, might have just as well been an antagonist to both sides of the fight, but at least he could play it off as a heroic act of vengeance for his ally, who was about to be torn up quite a bit by the thing (if he hadn't been saved by someone else).

In an instant, and without warning, the slug that was perched on Tetsu's head burst into some sort of liquid goo, or paint. He was shocked, not only because he hadn't heard anyone approaching, not just because he had dead animal material sprayed all over him, and not just because he was now made truly blind by the thick liquid dripping down into his ears, but because he realized that having essentially been responsible for the teacher's pet, and having it exploded under your care, didn't exactly bode well for a finishing grade. The boy frantically wiped and swirled the... material out of his ear. On the bright side, it didn't quite seem chunky enough to be anything like slug matter. He didn't quite have time to think of what something like this could mean as the paint was immediately being blown away in scattered droplets off of his face as he heard the sound of the dome around them being shattered. Just what was going on?

As he was clearing his ears out, he finally caught the form of Mishiku being launched far up into the air. Since the boy wasn't in the dome before the fight, this must have been an act that their proctor was responsible for. Tetsu was not pleased with this situation at all; it was nothing like the missions he had gone on, where you could find some throughline for the logic of your enemies. Kiri seemed to want to simply immerse them in the chaos of a battle, and Tetsu could barely catch his bearings before a new element was thrown into the battle. The teacher would announce that their new objective was to protect the ragdoll of a shinobi flailing through the air, and it wouldn't be long before that command was followed by a very real attack. Tetsu could have considered that Kiri, as evidenced by the thwarted attack on the boy's battle partner, probably wasn't going to allow flying Mishiku to really be injured, but that hardly mattered and Tetsu only had time to think of that as a brief impression in his own thoughts. Regardless, he had to win against the other team, and do it quickly. In an instant, he would make a number of judgments, largely emotional and instinctive, before moving into action.

Akira seemed at least somewhat capable, and Inuzuka clan members were at least somewhat known for their physical dexterity. Essentially, the boy was considering this fact because he made an immediate judgment that he was not going to chase after the falling boy, partially because Kiri gave no indication that the fireballs were the only attacks that Mishiku could expect, but also because he simply had no interest in jumping into the line of fire that any opponent of his was laying out before him. Whatever your enemy wants you to do, you should do whatever you can to avoid, and Kiri, in this moment, had aligned himself as the boy's enemy. He started humming a little melody to cast his genjutsu, Tree Binding, on their proctor. He yelled out to Akira, "Go get him!" He didn't exactly mean to bark at the dog to go fetch, but necessity would dictate here. The thought had struck him, even in this brief space of time, that it might have benefited him to target Ikko or Ryuichi with his attack, if he really wanted to accomplish the task laid out before them, but he wasn't naive enough to think that the goal they had here was actually to save Mishiku; it was to pass the exam. There was no time to do anything else, and he had to simply hope and pray that Akira and his dog could rise to the occasion. There was, however, one small gesture he could try in an attempt to hedge their bets. "Mishiku!" He yelled out to the poor boy, "Dodge!" It wasn't much, but it would have to do.

“You need more depth if you want to convince me, boy. At this rate, you’re not ready to be passed your Genin stage. And trust me, I’ve failed people in the past,” The proctor said, visibly disappointed with Mishiku's lackluster answer. He provided all the facts of the situation but it looked like the proctor wanted a deeper explanation of the situation inside the dome. Mishiku activated his Sharingan (R3) and took another look inside the dome, now enhanced with the visual prowess of his Sharingan to give a better assessment of the battle that was taking place. Mishiku watched as Tetsu created some type of pit that brought the shadowy figure that they were fighting down to it's apparent doom as Mishiku could no longer see it's chakra and all that came from the pit was a dark smoke. His plan had worked either by his tactical prowess or by sheer luck, never the less, Tetsu's team had successfully beaten their foe. Mishiku glanced over at the other team to see them working together superbly against their common foe. One of the participants quickly flung a volley of ice like needles that pierced through the warrior's defenses, creating gashes all across his body. In the beginning, it seemed as though the once invincible enemies had lost their advantage and the balance of power had shifted towards the examinees.

The last enemy that was left disappeared and appeared on top of the giant stone whale that was flailing about inside the dome. The warrior then began to use some sort of jutsu that was unknown to Mishiku but it looked as if he was somehow trying to gain control of the animal. Mishiku turned back over to the proctor, growing slightly more uncomfortable being bounded by the slug's slime. "Tetsu's team was able to successfully defeat their opponent and now has the opportunity to help the other team. The other team is slowly turning the tide and using their teamwork to overwhelm the warrior which is why I think he is trying to gain control of that large whale but I can't tell for sure." He figured that his response this time was more sufficient to what the proctor was looking for but the proctor didn't say anything, he wasn't even paying attention to Mishiku what so ever. The proctor stood up and his chakra surged around him, blowing a gust of wind before it dispersed. Almost immediately, the shadow dome broke apart and revealed everyone inside without the annoying arena to stop them from overflowing outside. Before Mishiku could respond to the proctor's actions he was hurled hundreds of feet into the air by the large slug.

Mishiku cursed aloud by the slug's sudden action as he flew high into the air, still bound by the slug's slime. Mishiku was now falling towards the ground, desperately struggling to break free from the bind that he was in, to his dismay he noticed that the proctor created multiple dragon heads that were made up entirely of black flames and then shot them up towards Mishiku. "Shit! This asshole is really trying to kill me. Ok, enough fooling around" Mishiku yelled out as he focused his chakra inside of him and once again attempted to break free of the slimey bind. He continued to push harder and harder, yelling outloud before he finally broke through the slimy prison, tearing it to shreds. Mishiku exhaled in relief but there was no time for celebration as he could feel that his body was slightly numb from the slug's bind. Mishiku quickly formed a set of handseals and suddenly it looked as if gravity barely affected him anymore as he was able to move freely and quickly in the sky as if he was Raiden himself. Mishiku slowly descended towards the ground and waited for the fireballs to draw closer and attempted to dodge them due to his now quick and free movements.

The whale was quick to simply look over the battlefield and see that one of the enemies before him had gone missing, only to have him reappear on Bogu's stone head. "Get down from there!" He said, trying to shake the beast man off.

“Hey, Big Guy. Why don’t you calm down? It’s not good on you to be doing this. My boy, over there, Kiri would pamper you instead if you calm down. Okay? Especially since you seem to be ailing. He can treat it if you want.”

"You know nothing of me, and Ocha-Shonen's relationship, fool! We've been through tough times, and rely on one another. TIS A BOND OF TRUST!!" Bogu said in protest, thinking back on the missions they'd done in the past, as well as the playful contests that they'd do when Ryu did his training.

“Your current master doesn’t know you at all.”

"Again, Lies!" Bogu said, giving one more flail in protest. The whale then looked down to Ryuichi as the following events escalated the situation onto one that he could no longer assist with. "Ocha-Shonen. I cannot assist anymore, as I believe this is your test of might. Simply summoning me most likely helped your case. Best wishes. TA-TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" He would sing, vanishing in a puff of smoke.

Ryuichi simply sighed at Bogu, both glad that he didn't get all mad for whatever reason and upset that he refused to help any longer. Regardless, the purple-eyed boy had to make a split-second decision. And that he did. WIth the welling of another massive surge of Chakra, an open palm, and his other hand making some single-handed seals, his next words resonated with a booming noise and intensity.

Ryuichi's hair began to float while on top of his head, and his eyes glew a violet shade of purple from his surging chakra.

"SHINRA TENSEI! OFUUUUUDA!" He shouted, as a massive wave of gravity chakra flew threw the air from his palm, and towards Kiri. While the initial impact of the jutsu didn't cause much damage, the after effects would...as anyone who made contact with the wave of chakra would be sent flying with extraordinary force. Enough to make even the largest, and mightiest foes topple to their knees.

Ikko didn't really stop to think, the further and further he tapped into that spirit inside him the less and less he was even capable of thinking. One on hand, this was quickly becoming a destructive drawback for the boy, critical thought had always been a strength of his despite his general demeanor and the lack of it could hardly be considered a strength. In addition, the general lack of internal monologue made it very difficult to occupy space with humorous self-dialogue. However, it did carry its own advantages. For instance, Ikko didn't pause to wonder what the hell was actually going on. Their mission had changed mid-way(again) and Ikko didn't bother asking why the conditions seemed to change so rapidly and arbitrarily. At first, they had to beat the other team, then they had to beat random summons, then they had to beat Kiri. Rational Ikko would have noticed what a mess that was, but rational Ikko wasn't here right now. Here now was borderline animal Ikko, more so than their doggy compatriot, and the switch was very easy to flip in his mind. Kiri bad, weird haircut kid good.

Ikko tore off from the point he was at, his foot splashing in the small masses of the zombie's blood as he ran, his glowing eyes fixated on the pair in the air above him. Curiously, with each step he took, the water around him began to follow him. The fluid residue from his now defunct mirrors, the blood on the ground, the water from the mud they all treaded on, began flowing to him, pooling at his feet as he skidded to a stop at a spot on the ground, positioned between the airborne pair above him. The slug in his clothes exploded and splattered against Ikko's chakra cloak, but other than fizzling against the chakra, nothing seemed to really happen. Smirking, or the feral facsimile of one, Ikko slammed his foot on the ground and the water pooling around him began to rotate and shot upward, forming into three spiral "bullets." These bullets launched into the air and sought to crash into the impeding fireballs, intending to batter them out of the air entirely

Then Ikko's eyes shifted down to Kiri, aggression is in his eyes as the water continued to pool around his feet, swirling again as if to create further bullets still if Kiri wanted to push aggression any further. The was assuming however that Kiri managed to handle the attacks coming from Tetsuo and Ryuichi. If he didn't then Ikko probably wasn't going to have much a chance to really put too much aggression of his own out.
