Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Takeshi allowed himself to walk to the gates he had brought the group this far as per the instructions though he found it annoying that he had been caught up in this, but life was life and his job was to guard the leaf village. Knowing full well that he probably would have to get this work done on himself. He knew full well that right now he had to be careful around the situation as he had escorted them this far. He didn’t want to be seen doing anything that could compromise the situation that they had with cloud.

Takeshi arrived at the gates once more, the wind catching his robes as it fluttered in the small breeze that was around them, it was clear that he had work to do today and once more he found himself in a situation that probably wouldn’t please the Hokage. As he allowed a small sigh to come from his lips he allowed his hand to reach into his pocket as he picked out the head set in that few seconds. Placing it on the mask he allowed himself to pause for a few seconds before speaking into the headset in that split second.

“This is reaper, requesting Yomi at the gates………..”

He paused as he allowed his mind to wander, wondering on the situation that he would get himself involved in if he held the information back in that split second. Though it didn’t matter to him he had his job and was doing it.

“Baba has been brought back to us by Cloud”

He allowed himself to click the headset off in that split second as he waited to hear the answer, Takeshi turned to those that came to the gates waiting for them to arrive under the escort of the ANBU of both leaf and cloud as he waited.

Shuusei Touma - NPC (ANBU Captain)

It was an arduous journey, but with the guiding of the ANBU from Konoha, it was faster than it could have been most likely. Touma was somewhat tired, but used to exerting himself like this so it wasn't anything new. The ANBU all breathed a sigh of relief as the convoy came to a stop in front of the gates. Next was the awe in looking up at the unfamiliar gates. They were similar in nature to the gates that protected Kumogakure, but at the same time different. While the gates of Cloud were wedged between the cliffs on either side of the passage leading inside, the gates of Leaf were instead a part of an even larger manmade wall surrounding the village. The emblazoned Konoha symbol left little doubt that they had arrived at the correct place. This was the first time any of them had ever been to Konoha, after all. Touma stepped forward to wait near the front of the group as Takeshi pulled out a headset and attached it to his mask. After a moment, he spoke to request a specific person, a name which Touma had not heard before.

'Yomi?' he thought, raising an eyebrow. 'I thought the Hokage was to meet us.' He was, of course, unaware of the recent change in administration and the circumstances surrounding it. By the last word Kumogakure had received, Umashi still remained the Hokage of Konoha, so this would prove interesting. Whoever this Yomi person was, he hoped they would have the authority required for the various things that needed to take place. The announcement that the missing-nin had been brought was next to come. Baba had been returned to Konoha and was now at their gates as was the obligation Kumogakure had accepted. The delivery was complete, and what they did with him now was their business. When they were ready, he would be turned over to their custody to be administered whatever justice they saw fit. What mainly remained was for Touma to deliver what essentially amounted to a permission slip from the Raikage for Saito's field trip to Leaf.

“This is reaper, requesting Yomi at the gates….”

Maki perks up as Takeshi’s voice hits his headset, looking straight ahead and down at the man as he approaches the gates. Currently, he was standing on the wall of the village gates, keeping an eye on the comings and goings of the people trying to get in or out. He’d not had to get involved yet, but it seemed now he would. Maki grins and simply cuts off the chakra to his feet, gravity instantly gripping him tight and pulling him down. As he nears the ground, he uses both his kinetic and gravity talents to slow his descent, making himself lighter and pushing off the ground slightly. The hazardous drop turns into a controlled landing as his feet softly touch down just ahead of the group coming up.

Before the group was what looked to be a samurai. Black boots were covered by red suneate, black pants that had matching red haidate over the thighs for protection. Up top was a black shirt with a red jacket that ended at his waist. There were red han kote to protect his forearms. He had no headband or helmet, no gloves, and his jacket was mostly bland. There were two katana at his side in their sheathes. One was slightly longer, but matched the norm for the weapons. The other looks a bit thicker and had a parrying ring built into the hilt for some reason. Indeed, if one didn’t know Maki they might mistake him for a Daimyo loyalist.

”Reaper. Welcome home.” His eyes move from his leader to the man beside him. For the briefest moment, between blinks, his brown eyes would seem to shift to gold before shifting back. ”And a welcome to our guests. Though it is not my place to give such.” He could only assume they were from Cloud, as Takeshi mentioned Baba being returned from there. He’d never been to Cloud, and indeed unless things in Konoha changed likely wouldn’t for some time.

Alas the day would come as Baba would stare directly at the soil beneath his feet, the winds of change were upon him much like the will of fire, a philosophical piece of notions and beliefs, there were not something that could be seen, but they were felt. They were things that people believed in the winds of change coming about during times of deep stress through dramatic feats, something that made people look towards how things were the days, months and years prior, only to know that thing would never be the same, never like they were before. The Will of Fire, the idea that what made Konoha such a strong force was the burning will that could never be doused in waters, never be overtaken with smothering. The will that burned in the darkest days to light a path for the future... to light a path for the generations to come. It was these things that Baba understood but never grasped especially the Will of Fire. He had no tenacity for this village. This wretched place that turned him into a monster, took away his childhood and drove him to become the insane man that he'd shown the ANBU in Cloud.

'What have I become... I sweetest friend... every one I know goes away in the end...' thinking on the edge of reason about every transgression he'd done, but how he was justified in is own right. However, no one would see it this way. They were shinobi. They were an army for the Hokage, footstones and barcodes for his bidding. Simple numbers aside from the ones hand selected to be his own guard, for the leaders of man did not care about anything else aside from their own narcissistic attitudes with the aptitude only to care for those who cared about them enough to worship them. Call them Lord Hokage. Baba was ready for a swift death at the hands of the 'Lord Hokage' known to him as Umashi, and even though he could easily silp through these chains long ago, he would decide with his final light, that he would bite the jugular of the man who ran this place... caused him to feel the pain he did. Or even worse... turned a blind eye to it all. Baba wasnt afraid of what would come after that... it was so bad that he didnt even pay attention to the ANBU Leader calling the Goddess to the gates? No... Baba was in his own world now. Even the air around him began to shift. Who knew though... Maybe it was the jitters of being home..

One of two things was happening. Either someone was dying or someone had appeared. This was the only time she was summoned to the Gates. The fact that it was the green-haired Uchiha that called to her, the former seemed more likely. As she listened to the Sennin she straightened at the mention of Baba's name. Takeshi was vague in mentioning in what state Baba was brought back in and she felt like he purposely left that tidbit out to mess with her.

Pressing her headset she responded with a mere okay, preferring to see what was going on for herself. Before leaving, she pressed her headset again, calling for the Kage Guard to escort her. It was really unnecessary, but, the further she got along in her pregnancy, the more strict everyone became around her. They wanted to know where she went, how long she was going to be there, and the reason she was going. If she looked liked she blinked too hard people would fret around her. It wasn't as upsetting as it was annoying, but, she never voiced her complaints at people who were just doing their job.

As she and Kenshin made it to the gates she realized there were more people there than she had anticipated. She looked at the Reaper, the Cloud ANBU escort, and...Maki? This was the first time she had seen him outside of a picture and it was the last place she expected to bump into him. Unfortunately, what she wanted to say to him would have to wait because Baba had returned.

"Welcome Back" She said as looked to the Uchiha. Raking her hair behind her ear she looked to the ANBU from Kumo and gave a small smile. "And thank you for bringing him back to us, I trust he didn't give Kumo too much trouble. " She knew of all the things Baba was capable of, but, the fact that they had not killed him led her to believe that he didn't cause too many problems, at least problems that they knew about. Or perhaps killing him would destroy their friendly relations and it was not worth it to them. "Either way, if this is your first time to Konoha, I am Yomi, and I welcome you." Normally Yomi would leave off titles because she hated that sort of thing, but, right now, she hadn't had a chance to properly update Cloud on what was happening in Leaf and she really didn't want to have this conversation right now, if she could help it. Knowing how things had been going lately with her, she was sure that she would be forced to have this conversation right now anyway.

Yomi looked over at Baba as he gazed at the floor. Shifting her weight to her other leg, she placed a hand on her burgeoning belly and looked at him for a long while.

"Please remove him from those chains. They're for show anyway. If he wanted to be free of you, he would have done so long before you got to these gates." Yomi spoke to the Cloud ANBU. Whether or not he acquiesced, was up to him, but, she then spoke directly to Baba.

"Won't you look at me Baba Gagoze? I've missed you..." Yomi's tone was softer than Baba would remember but it was even just the same. There were many things that had changed since he had been home and many things that she would need to fill him in about, but, first things first....

Kenshin was called to escort Yomi to the gates. He left his office, which was still being worked on to be fixed since the incident so he was happy to get away form the extra noise.

Kenshin would meet Yomi. It appeared a Cloud ninja was sending someone back. Kenshin would remain silent behind Yomi for a while before a simple introduction.

"The name is Yuu Kenshin. Pleasure to meet you." He would say with a small smile.

The fact Yomi did not introduce herself as Hokage was clue enough for Kenshin to not say he the Kage Guard. Her tone while soft was hiding more than one thing as far as Kenshin was concerned. Still, he was there to observe and protect.

Tatsuo had spent most of the time talking to Saito on the way back, but it was easy to tell the boy was getting more and more excited as they approached the gates. It had been so long since he had been home, years had gone by but the village didn't seem to change all that much. The massive gates, the thick forests, how the sun settled behind the mighty Hokage Faces. He was finally home. The boy had a smile on his face that death itself couldn't wipe off. The whole way up the path he would be cracking jokes and generally being even more personable than usual.

"We're finally here, Saito!" Placing both of his hands behind his head as he stared up to the symbol of the Leaf above the gates. "Man.." with a deep breath he smiled once again, "Just smells like home.." the look on his face wasn't just one of happiness but of content. While he loved his experiences in Kumogakure and met friends he would never forget, sometimes it was good to just be back on your home turf. For the most part he ignored the musings of all the old people, political nonsense bothered him little. ANBU would be ANBU and Sennin would be Sennin, but.. there was a certain face that he was more than glad to see. At first it took him a minute to recognize who it was but after he introduced himself Tatsuo grinned and leaned over to Saito, a quick point with his finger in Kenshin's direction. Whispering as to not be heard and not to interrupt all of those folk, "You see him there? He was my first teacher at the academy, i'm surprised to see him here. I'd think he would be making unsuspecting kids run laps around the village." his whisper broke off with a hearty chuckle as he would attempt to walk past the group into the village with Saito in tow. "C'mon kid, i'm starving lets get some Ramen."

It took everything in Baba to keep his composure, he felt her coming from afar, but no sign of Umashi, he would not be able to do this infront of her. He couldnt have her see him as the monster of his mothers creation. Though, but it was too late as she would arrive on the seen with another man who was not Umashi, Baba would lower himself more. He would not get a reprieve on this day. No notion that he could change his stars. No ideal within his mind that would allow him to believe he was anything but the monster he'd slowly become since leaving... nay, since birth. Since that despicable mother of his made him into this, and then called him a monster because of what she'd seen amidst her creation. Was it fair that he could not live with a personal vendetta against himself but at least with a mother's love? No. He was not going to be granted that... aye as the woman was selfish.

And there she was, Yomi, the Goddess, The one who could free Baba and make him reborn into anew. However, could he accept her blessings? Was she here to bless him? Or was she here to cast him out forever, to understandably rip every heart from his chest with the admission to his wrong followings. It didnt matter because, before she even reached him he would fall to his knees, tears swelling up in his eyes. The eyes of a broken man would be all she would see as she speak his name...

Everything stopped... she didnt say monster, Enemy, villain, destroyer, nothing of that sort. She called him by his name. And it caused him to stop everything crying halted only tears would slowly fall from his face as he felt more chakras coming from her. "I've missed you to... Goddess." he'd look into her eyes. Those eyes that didnt want him dead, those eyes, they didnt want him to cry, they wanted his devotion. She would have his undying loyalty. Without a second guess.

Saito accompanied Tatsuo along with the Cloud ANBU escort and Baba, and for the first time in a while, the 9-year old cloudie had fallen speechless. The reasoning, quite obvious and shared by those of the Cloud, being the large and wondrous Konoha gates. An impressive feat of craftsmanship, the strong fortifications looked able to withstand most any sort of siege; certainly a large part of the reason for the realm's stability. And then the Hokage Stone Faces... The dark-skinned child pushed shaggy white hair out of his face, his blue-green eyes wide with stunned awe as the village's principle wonder of the world made a strong first impression. Each of the village's Kage had been immortalized in stone as eternal guardians over their people. The architectural and cultural impact of what went on around him had absorbed his attention, firmly keeping his mouth shut until they'd actually arrived. At which point his mouth stayed closed for an entirely different reason: action! He watched as Reaper summoned three more Leaf ninja, one of them evoking images of samurai from the drawings in the books Saito read in the monastery, a second one, beautiful and undeniably pregnant, and a third one her clear attendant.

”Reaper. Welcome home.” Maki's eyes move from his leader to Touma, and as the young boy watched closely, the samurai-ninja's brown eyes quickly shifted colors, from gold back to brown. SO COOL! I wonder what THAT was? Saito silently enthused over the samurai. Is HE the Hokage? ”And a welcome to our guests. Though it is not my place to give such.” I guess not... Saito determined, since the Hokage would certainly not need to say such a thing.

Then the beautiful pregnant ninja spoke."Welcome Back," She said as she looked at Reaper. She then looked to the ANBU from Kumo and gave a small smile, pulling thick hair back behind her ear. "And thank you for bringing him back to us, I trust he didn't give Kumo too much trouble. Either way, if this is your first time to Konoha, I am Yomi, and I welcome you." Unlike the first one who greeted them, Yomi felt no need to defer the privilege of greeting the Cloud party to someone of higher rank. She's the one Reaper called to meet them in the headset... aaaaand Reaper had said earlier that they should expect the attention of the Hokage, that the Hokage found the matter with Baba to be very important, and that the Hokage would be waiting at the gates.... Since Tatsuo's former sensei was clearly Yomi's attendant, and because the child knew nothing of Umashi in any case, Saito figured Yomi to be the Hokage.

So when Tatsuo tried to walk him past the adults for a ramen bowl, Saito frowned. "Wait, Shinrin-sensei! We have to get the Hokage's permission for me to be here, remember?" Saito responds, his boisterous 9-year old voice piping up in audible resistance as he gestures to Yomi, struggling to bow to her as Tatsuo pulls him away. The boy would then hook Tatsuo's arm in an attempt to pull him to stand before Yomi with Touma. Doesn't Shinrin-sensei recognize his own Hokage? the boy thought. "We can't keep her waiting -- plus she's pregnant!" he continues to protest, with the potential for a small scruffle breaking out between the two rambunctious youth.

Yomi looked down at Baba who the ANBU had graciously released from his chains. As she looked at him he uttered her most infamous title with little care of those around him. Smiling a bit she would wipe the tears from his face and not chastise him for it. It was clear that he had been through enough already to remember proper decorum. Besides, the people who needed to know what she was already did, the rest would probably just think it was the ramblings of a man gone mad.

"I'm glad, Baba, however our reunion will have to be on hold for a bit." Looking at Takeshi she motioned for him to come over. "You know what the law says about people who flee the village..." Of course she didn't have to elaborate, because, no matter how he viewed himself or how whatever crap his own mother tried to convince him of, he was intelligent and knew right from wrong. One of the reasons she had Umashi have Takeshi look for him, because, a doctor with his intelligence, expertise and skill should have been at her side.

Looking at the ANBU Sennin and then to Maki, she gave her instructions. "You will escort him to be properly processed. Make sure he's cleaned up and fed as well. I will be there after I've tended too our guests." Because she was in front of guests she couldn't give the instruction that she knew she should have given to Takeshi, but, she hoped that she didn't have to seeing as they were trying to have a better relationship these days.

As she looked back there were more people joining the fray. She thought this party couldn't get any bigger, but, here they were. A shinobi with a Leaf Headband that she failed to recognize at first glance. After all it had been many years since he had been back and the only reason she knew it was him was because her husband kept his paper work in perfect order.
Unfortunately for her, it seemed she would indeed have to have this conversation now.

"Tatsuo..." Yomi called to him. "Might you wait on that Ramen with your friend for a moment? You need to be updated on some things that are important for you to know. It cannot wait." Yomi looked at the Cloud ANBU and spoke to him too. "Can I ask you to stay for a bit? I have something that I'd like you to bring back to Cloud."

Before Tatsuo asked she thought she should answer his question "I don't know if I mentioned it earlier..." She knows she didn't. "But I am the Hokage. If you are here for the first time, welcome, and if this is your home, welcome back." Giving a small smile she then set her sights on Kenshin and addressed him.

"Let's get back to my office."

Kenshin would watch the talks with a wary eye and ear. It seems like they had been found out, or at least the Hokage had been.

However there was one shinobi who pointed and Kenshin had to think for a moment. It really hit him when Yomi said the name and it clicked with Kenshin. That young man was Tatsuo? It had been a long time since he had seen him. He seemed to have grown into a fine shinobi. Kenshin would simply smile at Tatsuo.

At the word from Yomi, Kenshin would walk beside her back to the offices. It was time to have a more private conversation it seemed.

Takeshi listened to the words that had been spoken to the orders of the Hokage it was clear that they still had a lot of work to be done, but she was leaving Baba into his custody as he allowed a small smile to creep under the mask. It seemed that he would get his time alone with the man after all, Takeshi allowed his eyes to wander to the others as he thought about what the best reply to this situation would have been. Though he kept silent till the orders had been completed and the words had been spoken knowing full well that his job here was nearly done.

“Understood, we will take him from here. Maki, if you would please escort Baba with me, we will take him to a better suited location”

Takeshi allowed himself to turn to the man that had escaped leaf, as a small part of him was annoyed that it had come to this. That the fact he had been brought home was a miracle at all but to stand at the gates once more was something that Takeshi found infuriating though he wasn’t going to speak about it in front of the Hokage, and wouldn’t need to say it in front of those that had come from outside the village. He glanced at the shackled man in a few seconds as he nodded his head slightly.

“Let’s go, follow me, I have a few questions that I want to ask you and I am sure that I will have to get answers for.”

Takeshi turned back to the gates and begun to walk, taking both Maki and baba to the location that he had set out to have this conversation. Knowing full well that right now they had much to discuss he pondered in his mind how this conversation would go.

Tatsuo furrowed his brows, looking to Yomi as she called him by name. He had absolutely no idea who she was, for a moment he wondered if he was in trouble for being gone for so long. He kinda.. forgot to keep updating Umashi on his comings and goings. When she delayed his meal he frowned just a bit before nodding, "Yes ma-" but he was cut off by her statement of being Hokage. In to which Tatsuo rubbed his chin and stared at her for a long while. But Umashi was the Hokage, he thought, I suppose she kind of looks like him? Is he using a transformation jutsu? If so why would he choose a pregnant woman.. not exactly an intimidating form.. but those were questions for a later time. He would follow the group to the Kage office, sort of annoyed he has to deal with the beuracacay immediately on his return but this is what being an adult was all about. "C'mon Saito, looks like the Ramens gotta wait." he said flatly.

And the orders were handed out. Yomi arrived, much less angry than the last time he saw her. The prisoner was unchained at her command, and handed over to Takeshi. She appeared to be treating the man like an ex boyfriend she hoped to one day get back with instead of a traitor who had fled the village that trained him. His face did not change in the least but he couldn’t help but feel this was wrong. People who fled needed to be made an example of, otherwise no one would hesitate to give into their baser instinct of freedom. Konoha spent time and money training these people, it would not be able to survive if they all fled after such a thing. This man should be executed, quite publicly.

Instead he was being given over to be ‘properly’ processed whatever that entailed. As they’re dismissed, Maki bows his head to the Hokage and follows his leader back into the village. They needed to talk.

With the moments to come he would feel her warmth, something he longed for and with this he knew everything would be alright. "Yes Goddess. I will take my punishment without one complaint.", nodding once again he would find himself being hauled off by the feds. Nothing else would come of this but the allowance to re-enter the place from which he fled. Processing him... did that mean more doctors? Who knew in all honesty, but Baba would surely find out soon... Alas he was home.

There was a wait, as was to be expected. Before too long, a man dropped from the gates before the group seemingly on course for a dangerous collision with the ground before using his abilities to instead perform an impressive super hero landing. He greeted the one known as Reaper before turning his attention to the rest and extending a welcome. For a moment, his eyes seemed to change color, but Touma paid it no mind save for noticing it.

"Thank you," Touma said, bowing his head slightly in greeting. There was no introduction, but he could only assume that this man was present because of the unknown factor the arriving group represented at this point in time. A short time later, the one by the name of Yomi who had been called earlier arrived. She looked to be with child and what Touma suspected was a guard followed closely behind her. As the one before her, she welcomed Takeshi back before turning her attention to Touma and the others. She expressed her gratitude for returning Baba to them, hoping that he did not trouble them too much. She welcomed them and introduced herself with a name but nothing more. Touma didn't question it too much, as the Konoha shinobi seemed to treat her with respect.

Much like Takeshi had before her, Yomi bid them to remove the chains, feeling them to be of no use. Touma wasn't sure if it was a cultural thing, but the Konoha shinobi seemed to have some sort of stigma against restraining their prisoners. Perhaps Baba could have broken free of his bindings at any time, but in the time it had taken to do so the guard would have had more than enough time to react. That was their purpose more so than holding him indefinitely.

"Of course, as you wish. We turn him over to Konoha now," Touma replied before looking to his men. He motioned with his hand and the ANBU surrounding Baba would remove the chains as requested and step away from the man as Yomi approached. He was Konoha's to look after now. Touma watched as Yomi addressed the Missing-nin in a gentle tone, telling him that she missed him. Touma squinted his eyes in light confusion. This was a strange greeting, was it not? Was it just him? Perhaps there was something they had not been informed of regarding Baba which would explain this reaction to seeing him. It contrasted drastically with that of the other shinobi whom had guided them to the gates.

"I... was not directly involved in his apprehension when he arrived at our gates but I am told that aside from initially lying about his origin and identity, he was cooperative," Touma spoke, to give a little more information about how they had come to take him into custody. It seemed almost from the beginning that he wanted to return to Konoha, which led one not knowing his circumstances to ponder why he had left in the first place. Perhaps it had something to do with this woman.

"Once we discovered that he was one of yours, we elected to make sure he was returned to you. He never resisted. Of course what you do with him now is up to you, however I do have a message for your Hokage regarding him," Touma continued as he began to look around. No one else had arrived since Yomi. Though Takeshi had mentioned the Hokage would meet them at the gates, Umashi seemed nowhere to be found. Perhaps they had decided that the return of Baba was not worth having the man come to the gates. That was their prerogative, of course. The explanation would come soon. After the strange exchange between the woman and the prisoner, Baba was taken away by her order, leaving the woman to focus her attention on the rest of them. Tatsuo was in a hurry to get inside, but Yomi slowed him down before Touma had the chance to do so himself. She requested that the boy and the shinobi from Cloud all stick around, which suited Touma fine as he had messages to relay.

Apparently, she also had something to give them, but before that she had one piece of interesting news to relay. She was the Hokage. Touma was surprised for a moment, it may have even registered in his eyes. He didn't say anything yet as he processed the information. Umashi was no longer the Hokage? What did this mean? He was the man who had brokered the alliance with Kumogakure. This change of power had occurred without any word to Cloud. He needed to find out what was going on now, so meeting with the new Hokage suited him just fine.

"Ah... yes, it seems like there are some things to discuss. I had some things I needed to relay to the Hokage, as well," Touma replied in agreement. Following the Hokage's lead, Touma would enter the village and head towards their next destination.

Happy that he didn't have to otherwise wrestle his sensei into submission in front of his Hokage (given how awkward that would be), Saito tagged behind Tatsuo as they entered into the city. The boy stayed silent, completely absorbed in his first experience in Konoha... it was very different from Kumo. The architecture, with buildings mainly built from the ground up as opposed to from the mountains out, or otherwise in spite of the mountainous terrain. The weather, so temperate! And the trees, so plentiful! The child felt relaxed and happy in a way he'd never felt before, as he took in all that he could... The journey to the Hokage's offices could not have been more fascinating.
