It was exactly 6pm in the evening, and the sky was beginning to show traces of twilight as the sun hid itself behind the many mountains that surrounded the great village hidden in the clouds. Kumori had just arrived; he made sure to arrive -just in time-. He did not want to be late of course, but he did not want to be too early either, else his day would be spent in wait rather than in preparation. He had prepared alright. Right after the sennin had entered the village the day before, Kumori spent the entire day training hard, so that he could rest the day after, and be ready to show Kouin what he could do.
He stood just outside of Shinbatsu’s Path, which was named after the Raikage that was thought to have ascended to godhood after his life on earth. Kumori thought it all to be nonsense. For him, there was only one god, and that was The Path. Ever since he could remember he had been taught to look up to The Path, which represented beginnings, endings, keys, and doorways. To him though, The Path was also Kaoshogai, the deity of chance. Chance… that was something that he was dearly in need of at the moment. He needed an opportunity, and the luck necessary to seize it to give shape to his destiny.
He waited, but the small time he spent waiting was not thrown away. With galaxy eyes closed, he looked for the hints left behind by Kaoshogai. He had been chosen, that much he knew, for he had attained the power of the stories. He was in the process of becoming immortal, and that was only by the grace of his destiny. It did not matter if it was easy or hard, he knew what he had to do. He had to show Kouin that he was worth mentoring… he had to convince him of his power, so that he became the teacher that he needed. Today was the day his life would take a twist for the better. He was ready.
