Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The room had no posters on the walls and no windows, on the board were the words: "I will behave like a Shinobi should." Repeated many times. The man overlooking the detention was nearly as boring as the room itself, an older man with a wicked scowl that seemed to only get angrier with every passing moment. His clothes were gray, from his head to his toes. A leaf headband tied to his head was the sole splash of color to be found, it being navy blue and the Konoha symbol proudly displayed. There were seven desks all which were empty, but one. Tatsuo was wearing his typical mission gear, a black jumpsuit with a Konoha symbol on the right arm. Slouched in his chair, attempting to stay awake as their was nothing to do. The detention teacher was reading some old dusty book and there was nothing more Tatsuo hated than sitting still with nothing to do. On his desk was a piece of paper, a small questionnaire which Tatsuo elected to scribble on. Attempting to draw the teacher however crudely.

The atmosphere in the room was an unusual experience for Jirou, he’d never been in detention before but he seemed awfully cheery for being there. He had a piece of paper placed flatly in front of him, it was thoroughly scribbled with various crude drawings and designs clearly an attempt at passing time. Jirou looks over towards Tatsuo his right hand running through his hair as he’d seemingly be thinking about something. There would be a grin slowly forming on his face shortly after as he breaks off a corner of his paper, he’d crush it together until it would be a small ball barely noticeable at a distance. He aligns it rather well on his desk towards Tatsuo’s back, his left hand’s index finger just behind the small ball as he curls it back releasing it shortly after. The ball flings out into the air squarely hitting Tatsuo in the back softly yet clearly noticeable to Tatsuo. Jirou shows some teeth as he laughs softly into his right arm leaning back in his chair, he had nothing to do in here and if he’d be able to catch Tatsuo’s attention perhaps they could manage to have fun.

Nearby he’d notice the girl he’d seen earlier in class, a new classmate to them both he’d observe her while he’d wait for Tatsuo’s reaction.

Sitting with straight posture in her chair, Miyako watches the two boys that shared the room with her. She is sitting near the rear corner of the room, three rows down from the back wall and an entire table away from the windows. Every movement that the both of them were making, she was recording in her mind, basically analyzing the two for the next time they'd meet outside of the academy. Her eyes would follow the paper as it zipped from the tip of Jirou's finger to the center of Tatsuo's back, shaking her head as it made contact with the clothing there and losing focus on the small ball of paper. Her gaze slowly turns, likely catching Jirou in the act of observing her, for whatever reason. Miyako's eyebrows furrow and she pokes the tip of her tongue out at Jirou, as if sending him a message that she couldn't say out loud. From this point, her attention shifts to the back of Tatsuo's head where she would plant a glare that shows her feeling of distaste for him, the boy that nearly ruined one of her favorite kimonos and contributed to her loss of half of an apple.

Not wanting to be caught staring, Miyako leans back in her chair and folds her hands neatly in her lap, very carefully alternating her gaze between Jirou, Tatsuo, the proctor, and the windows, keeping this cycle going with varying times between each shift, the idea being to make this as inconspicuous as she could.

Tatsuo was clueless to the incoming projectile which hit him in the back, Tatsuo turned to see Miyako sticking her tongue out. Tatsuo made the assumption that it was her, not Jirou who tossed the paperball at him. He went to say something, but almost immediately the teacher coughed, sending Tatsuo into a spiral back to facing forward. He knew he would have to get revenge on them, but how was a better question. The teacher while not paying direct attention to him would quickly notice any attempts to leave his desk and unfortunately his back was facing the two. He shook his head deciding to wait for an opening. Tatsuo then grabbed his eraser, coughing into his arm as he chucked it backwards, aiming straight for Miyako's forehead. If the girl was going to toss stuff at him, Tatsuo would play along. At least he thought it was her.

Jirou looks over to his side where Miyako sits his eyes following the eraser as it flies through the air, just as it hits Miyako on the forehead he’d lean back a little further in his seat a awkward expression plastered on his lips. “Ouch..” He’d whisper to himself his lips forming a smile shortly after as he laughs somewhat softly, there was many things he wanted to say but as they were in detention he couldn’t his gaze switching forwards. He’d look over his piece of paper as his right hand scratched the top of his head, his fingers entangled in his hair as he’d seem to be thinking. Jirou’s left hand extends forward as he picks up his pencil he’d write down the words ‘Welcome to the class, I hope we can be friends.’ Jirou is a very sociable person this little game of blows just a friendly gesture in his mind, he’d not be surprised were the eraser to come his way soon enough. Though to him all that mattered was to make a few friends. He folds the paper into a triangle a few bits sticking out as the paper takes on a paper plane form, his eyes focusing on Tatsuo and then the proctor making sure to wait for a opportune moment to cast it out. Just as the proctor turns his attention down to his documents he throws the paper plane towards Miyako, as it glides towards her desk he’d lean back in his seat again his hands resting on his sides. The smile on his face widening ever so slightly as he wonders what her reaction will be, he'd look at Tatsuo as he shakes his head slightly thinking it wasn't surprising that he'd not realised that Jirou was the one to flick the paper ball onto him. It was honestly amusing in his mind he'd not had so much fun in a long time, Jirou had it hard at home after all but he was a happy person and his cousin needed him after all. It was quite seldom that Jirou would ever talk about it but either way, he was rather excited to be here as it was a place of freedom for him.

His left hand picks up the pencil again as he’d fold another piece of paper into a plane with his right, he’d start decorating it with various lines and details the two side folds of the paper having the symbol of konoha which so many proudly wear. As he finished he’d scratch the top of his head while looking over to Tatsuo, he knew that Tatsuo appreciated small things like this and Jirou wasn’t so good with things like this but calligraphy and pencil work was no issue at all for him. The spot in the middle of the plane was empty, should Tatsuo want to write something there. Jirou leaned to the side out of the proctors view as he’d let the plane slide over the ground. It eventually came to a rest next to Tatsuo’s chair, Jirou went back to leaning against his chair giving himself a light nod of approval as he’d wait to see what would happen next.

Miyako flinches, her head bobbing as the eraser bounces off of her forehead, onto the surface of the desk, and then to the floor with a quiet thunk that she wouldn't even be able to hear. Her hands turn over and her fingers sink into each other, binding her hands together into a single, two armed fist. She growls quietly, though doesn't react. Tatsuo could potentially be a meaningful person in her life, with the shinobi skills that he already possess. Her head simply shakes back and forth, as if she were clearing her mind of the throw ever occurring. Miyako silently sulks for now, not wanting to have any more accounts of delinquency on her personal records.

The paper plane crash lands between her arms, gliding off of the edge of her desk and into her lap, a roll of her eyes likely witnessed before she would release each finger, unclasping her hands from one another and bringing them both to the edges of the plane, noticing the writing on the inside. Miyako glances upward, in the direction of the proctor and takes a deep breath, holding it in as she unravels the plane and reads the not to herself. Quietly, she releases the breath from her nose and smiles to herself, the lifting corner of her lip the only indication to someone else that she were doing so. Her cradling hands place the paper onto the desk, where she draws a single line through Jirou's writing before writing a response; "I hope so, too! My name is Uchiha Miyako." Almost meticulously, she folds the plane back over the lines that he had originally folded. She places the plane between her fingers, aiming it with one eye closed towards Jirou. Her elbow unwinds itself and the plane soars quickly across the room, headed for Jirou.

Tatsuo turned back to look at Miyako, furrowing his brows as he hit her in the forehead. He snickered lightly, before getting hit in the ear by Jirou's paper airplane, startled he nearly fell out of his desk but managed to save himself. The protoctor however noticed this paper airplane and stood up, slamming his book onto the desk. "So all of you think this is just a time to have fun?! All of you have broken the rules and thus will be punished as such. How do you expect to ever be a shinobi if you cannot even behave in the academy." the veins on his forehead would begin to pulsate the man was nearly shouting at the poor students.

Tatsuo was immediately intimidated, his head dipping low as he went back focusing on the paper he had. The teacher then retrieved something from the desk, three sheets of paper. He went across the room handing one to each, was a multiple question test. "Until every question is correct, you cannot leave." the teacher said, a devilish smirk appearing on his aging face. Tatsuo instantly tensed up, he was no good at tests, he would never be able to leave.

On each of the papers would be the following questions:

How many classes does it take to graduate:

A. One
B. Two
C. Three
D. Four
E. B or C

Which of the five basic styles is weak to fire?

A. Wind
B. Water
C. Dust
D. Lightning

What is the majority faith within the village?

A. The Shinobi Way
B. The Will of Fire
C. Jashinism
D. Hokagism

Jirou scratched the top of his head awkwardly as he had a strained smile on his face, the paper airplane that Miyako sent held in his hand behind his back. He had taken a hold of it just before the proctor had noticed their notions, as the proctor stepped up and put the sheet of paper on his desk he’d hold the plane off to the side trying his best to hide it. Jirou could swear he’d seen a glint of disappointment in the proctors eyes, Jirou’s mouth twitched slightly as he’d seem unsure how to react the smile on his face at this point honestly looking dumb. Just as the proctor left for Miyako’s desk Jirou opened up the paper airplane reading through the lines, his smile would relax and fill with a certain warmth he always loved making friends. In honesty before starting at the academy he was nervous, what if no one would want to be friends with him? So each time he made one he’d always brim up with warmth and happiness.

He’d turn over to look at Miyako as he’d seem to be trying to give her some sort of mental message, as silly as it may look Jirou was one to express himself in many ways. He’d laugh softly as he’d turn back around whispering to Tatsuo while he had the chance. “These questions are harder than I thought…” Jirou looked over the sheet of paper the questions being simple yet some of them harder, he’d only been to class once and he’d yet to learn certain things. How was he to know how many classes they needed to take before graduating? The teacher had never explained it to him. His right hand went up to scratch the top of his head as he’d seem a little conflicted. He wasn’t too worried about failing to answer some questions, but he’d be stuck here for a long time were he to. Jirou’s eyes wondered up to Tatsuo again as he thought. ‘Well at least i’ve got Tatsuo and Miyako, maybe we can figure something out they might have some of the answers.’

His left hand reached over to the pencil as he picked it up, his right resting beside the paper as he'd be deep in thought. His tongue would stick out slightly in the corner of his mouth as though it was a natural expression for him at a time like this, one might think it would like quite funny his expressiveness a little over the top at times. He reached forward with the pencil as he started to try and answer the questions he knew the answers to.

On the front of the paper the following questions were written:

How many classes does it take to graduate:

'One too short, two? Three? Four? B or C.... what? ಠ_ಠ'

A. One
B. Two
C. Three
D. Four
E. B or C

Which of the five basic styles is weak to fire?

'When I pour water on fire it dies out.. Must be water.'

A. Wind
B. Water ✔
C. Dust
D. Lightning

What is the majority faith within the village?

'My old folk believe in this one so it should be it.'

A. The Shinobi Way
B. The Will of Fire ✔
C. Jashinism
D. Hokagism

What is the highest rank in the village?

'This one is really easy!'

A. Hokage ✔
B. Jounin
C. Chuunin
D. Academy Student
E. Genin

He’d bite down on his pen as he finishes seeming unsure how to answer the first question, his eyes would look to the other two around him as he’d really need some help right now.

As Miyako look over the quiz, a bead of sweat slowly rolled down her temple, her gaze simply stuck on the questions and her fingers resting at the edges of the paper. Her eyes close and she lowers her head, letting it fall to the desk with a noticeable clunk that seems to echo off of the walls in the room. Here she sat, imagining herself sitting in the classroom as an elderly lady, her entire wrinkled body trembling as she continued to stare at the paper for eternity and never, ever leaving detention.

After a few moments of sitting in silence as Tatsuo and Jirou scribbled on their quizzes, Miyako's hand lifts into the air, the posture of it straight and her fingers pressed tightly together. The proctor's arms folded over one another and settled on his chest, the man's furious glare settling on the girl at the back of the classroom. Her eyes widen, though she keeps her courage and her hand remains stiffly in the air out of protest of this man's authority. As the two stare at each other, neither make a sound nor even slightly shift from their firm positions. After about two minutes or so, the proctor lifts his eyebrows, "Spit it out." He growls, allowing her to speak. "Ahem.. My apologies, but how do you expect us, who are not even genin yet, to know the answers to these questions? These questions ask things that we should know at graduation and things that we should be learning right now, but instead.. You keep us inside for most of the day and deny us the opportunity of learning new things that will make us better shinobi and help us to protect the Hidden Leaf. So, Sensai, right now, you are only hurting the Leaf by quizzing us and keeping us locked up!" She ends her monologue with a short huff, her shoulders rising and falling quickly with her breath, a speech like that to someone who is of greater importance to the Leaf than her is brave, maybe stupid.. But it got her adrenaline pumping.

The proctor's arms never uncrossed during her monologue however the scowl on his face continued to get more and more intense. By the end of her long-winded response, you could've sworn that his family was just murdered by this little girl. He opened his mouth as if to shout, before closing it abruptly. He then took a moment his wicked scowl turning into a more sinister smirk. "You know what? You're right. Who would've thought that such a young girl could change my whole outlook on how we've disciplined students since I was in this very academy." The sarcasm on his words was thicker than oatmeal. He made his way over to the desks, taking everyone's piece of papers, if allowed. After a brief silence his sinister smirk seemed to reach its peak. "Alright, you're right. Let's do something that /will/ improve your skills as a shinobi. This is how it will work, two of you will leave, one of you will stay. You can leave by finding out /why/ your fellow classmates are in detention. Whoever finds out last will have to arrive here tomorrow, and perhaps lose points on their graduation."

Tatsuo seemed impressed by Miyako's little rebellion. Tatsuo wasn't one to shy from standing up to a perceived injustice, but it seemed she got to it first. Unforunately Tatsuo isn't the best at reading social cues, when the teacher began to agree with Miyako the sarcasm was lost on him. He thought she had gotten them out of detention. As the man brought up an alternative punishment he was excited, something that would actually test his skill as a shinobi? Yeah Tatsuo would be great at that, he was a decent ninja for his age after-all. However soon the pieces began to connect and he realized that one person would have to be punished for the rest to get off and unfortunately that didn't sit well with Tatsuo. He glanced back at Miyako and Jirou awaiting to see their reactions before making any bold moves.

The proctors words rang in Jirou’s ears, he could not believe what he had heard. He would never betray a friend nor interrogate them, how would he no less anyone else trust him if he did? He wanted to speak out anger building in his belly every time his mind returned to the thought of what had been said. He stood up looking over to the proctor, his hands shake slightly but he’d clench his fingers tight in an attempt to hide his fear. Jirou speaks up with a clearly flustered voice, something unusual for him the usual calm and warm appearance he carries flying out the window. “So you’re telling me to betray my friends? To be a traitor against those I share this village with? I… I haven’t words to express..” He’d gesture with his left arm to Tatsuo and Miyako around him. “No I can’t express it nor will I, if you want me to betray anyone I will never do so.” He sits right down his teeth grinding against each other as he says a few last words. “I don’t care if i’d have to stay here for the rest of my life, i’ll never do that to anyone that is a part of this village.” He huffed angrily as he stared the proctor down with a intense gaze. He was not afraid of punishment he'd take it any day over betraying his peers.

Again, Miyako's forehead hits the desk with a clunk, a sigh inflating her body before she releases it, loudly at that. Her hair collapses onto the desk around her head, spreading out almost as if it were running water. She had really thought her monologue had worked and she had hoped to get not only herself, but all of them out of detention. If she weren't so prideful, she'd apologize to the both of them after finally getting out of detention.

As Jirou speaks, her head slowly rises from the desk, her pencil sticking to her cheek as she looks at him. The boy who had just introduced himself to her was now standing up for her as well. She smiles, though only to herself. After meeting the both of these boys, they have stuck by her side, no matter if it were only in a place like this. To get the hair out of her face, she presses her fingers into it at the top of her forehead, running them down the back of her head and all the way through the length of her hair, never catching a single tangle on the way down. The pencil peels away from her face as she tilts her head, clicking as it bounced off of the desktop and onto the floor.

Again, Miyako has revealed a vulnerability. It is clear that she takes much pride in taking care of her hair, and showing it off for that matter. However, the length is impressive and it is quite the job to take care of and hold something like hair so dearly.

The old proctor looks to Jirou, shrugging his shoulders indifferent to his monologue. "I told you the rules, now you can either practice being a shinobi or fail as a loser. Since you're already here I assume the second one is more likely." he said with a confident grin on his face as he returned to his desk, retrieving the book he was reading earlier. He put his feet up on the desk and began to read, waiting for the academy students to begin.

Tatsuo rubbed the back of his neck, he got up from his desk making his way over to Jirou and Miyako. He moved a desk in between them before motioning them to scoot in closer. Tatsuo had a plan, or at least he could make one, however he'd need help. Lowering his voice and his head also. He would say "Alright, I have a plan, but i'll need some help. I know you two probably don't know any advanced jutsu but I do. Not to insult you or anything, I'm sure you guys will learn lots of amazing jutsus too I just know a few already. I hope you two don't think i'm insulting you. Sorry if I did." Tatsuo continued to ramble for a second before snapping back to attention. "Either way, I know a jutsu to help us escape here. But i'll need him to chase me. Since if he chases you guys you'll get caught, I won't though. I know the forests around here better than anyone in the whole Leaf." he says pointing a thumb back to the forests outside of the window which was slightly ajar. "I can get out the window quickly then use my jutsu when he catches up to me." Tatsuo said with a confident grin.

Jirou moved closer to Tatsuo as he’d peer over his shoulder looking towards Miyako, he’d tap the free space next to him as his face still held a serious expression. His attention returning to Tatsuo shortly after as his right hand’s fingers tap rhythmically against the desk. “Hhm..” He’d hum somewhat as he seems to be thinking over Tatsuo’s words, his left hand moving up to the top of his head as his fingers sink in and intertwines with his hair. “You’re not wrong I don’t know much now, but I need to get strong to protect everyone. But what happens after we escape? We’ll need to come back to school eventually.. Maybe if we get away from him we’ve proved ourselves good Shinobi’s?” He’d seem unsure as he thinks of a few potential scenarios, though his face calmed after a while as he looked to the both of them. “Either way whatever choice we make let’s do it together!” Jirou spoke out confidently and his face was clearly warm yet serious, he didn’t want to let any of the two down no matter what how else could they call him their friend? He was weak now but as he looked at the two of them it reminded him about why he wanted to get stronger.

Miyako stands, dragging her chair across the tiled floor and creating a screeching noise that seems to fill the room with its presence. She sighs as she sits down, offering the both of them a glance, one lacking emotion, one that comes from the girl that has been thinking carefully about the whole situation. What if this is a ploy to get her to reveal herself, or even to get her into more trouble? She plans to create her own battle plan for this 'mission', not scared or worried about the two boys, though not placing her full trust in them. Quietly, Miyako listens to the both of them speak, tying their words together as she did. At first, she doesn't say anything, just allows her head to swivel back and forth, following the conversation. As Tatsuo and Jirou come to their own personal conclusions about involving themselves in this plan, Miyako only nods, her lips sealed and her hands piled on top of one another.

"Alright well, I'm getting out of here. Whether you guys take the oppritunity is up to you." He said standing from his chair, as he stood up he shook his head. "BUT I DON'T KNOW ANY NINJUTSU!" He made sure the whole building would hear his shout before walking over to the proctor.

The proctor had flinched to Tatsuo's sudden screaming but smirked thinking that Tatsuo was going to rat on his peers. Unfortunately for him, that was not in Tatsuo's plan. Tatsuo walked over to the mans desk, a pencil twirling in his hand. As he got near enough he dropped the pencil away from the proctor. He then bent over to grab his pencil, turning his head to Jirou and Miyako he smirked before letting out the loudest, juiciest fart any of them had ever witnessed. Not just loud, but fowl smelling akin to that of rotting garbage. Instantly the proctor began to gag, his eyes watering as he turned from Tatsuo. Who then sprung to his feet, making his way for the window. The proctor however was not stunned for long quickly dashing after Tatsuo who had just yelled "LOSER!" To further entice the man's pursuit, who at this point needed no further justification. Tatsuo was out the window in a flash with the proctor in hot pursuit. Leaving the two in the classroom, alone to make their decision.

Jirou’s eyebrows tilted into a confused expression as he watched Tatsuo fart on the proctor for dear life. It surprised him quite so, the proctor made a face that was unimaginably twisted it could be said he aged a few years that moment. Jirou would had laughed shouldn’t they had been in a serious situation, he thought for a few seconds before turning to look at Miyako. His right hand came to a rest at the top of his head intertwining with his hair, his left arm extending out as his face would return to the more usual and warm smile. He’d flex his hand slightly as he spoke up. “I don’t know what’s on your thoughts at the moment but i’m Fujikawa Jirou, I didn’t think i’d ever introduce myself in a situation like this but either way Miyako are you going? Or are you starting to have second thoughts? We only have so much time to make a decision, I don’t know you so well but I still hope we can be friends.” He’d close his eyes as his smile opens up showing some teeth as, he looks rather relaxed for the situation they are in. He opens his eyes shortly after as he looks at her waiting for a response, his arm coming back to relax by his side once more.

The entire time that Tatsuo puts on his performance, Miyako watches both their proctor and Tatsuo, maybe trying to see if all of this was a set up. Tatsuo is a somewhat powerful ninja that sleeps all day, what could he have even done to get taken to detention. The entire situation was simply odd to her, and she can't decide where to settle her trust in any of the people in the room.

Almost silently, Miyako rests her attention on him, her eyebrows lowered and her lips puckered just slightly. It's almost as if she were trying to read him or his character, though the blankness of her stare may come off as startling to him.

"If you wanted to avoid being in this situation, then how'd you get here?" She asks, very nonchalantly and even with a shrug of her shoulders. "Also, I plan on staying here and not getting dragged back again next week with Tatsuo. What are you thinking?" Her expression has softened slightly, though the emotion set on her eyes remains blank, even as the corner of her lip lifts in a grin as she talks about Tatsuo spending another weekend in detention.

Tatsuo made a beeline to the treeline, as he neared, the proctor went for a low tackle to throw Tatsuo's legs out. Unforunatley for him, Tatsuo did know some ninjutsu, body switch being one of them. Which he used replacing himself with a log around the size of Tatsuo. With no time to stop himself the proctor slammed hard into the tree. He grabbed his head shouting in pain "Damn you Tatsuo!!!" Tatsuo turned for just a moment to see his two classmates not stirring from their seats. He sighed, before continuing to the agreed meeting point.
