Akumi had found out that Baba had left here without her. He left a note for her, and she understood. He couldn't wait for her forever. But she was not going to follow him, instead, she wanted to go home. She had done a lot here, but she missed her brother, she wouldn't know if he would welcome her home, but she felt like he wouldn't. After the cold welcome from her father, she didn't get her hopes up for a nice family reunion. She knew that it was fully possible that she could be killed on sight.
Either way, Akumi sent a letter to Tamashii, telling him that she was returning home. It had been months now that she had left, and she felt like she had changed, maybe not grown, but she felt more eager to go home. She still felt the darkness inside of her, but most of it had grown into sadness. She just wanted to be happy now, she missed that feeling. But she was free to be happy, she could grow stronger for herself now, and for her brother, if he would have it.
So Akumi started her adventure back home, with her new eyes, seeing a new world.
