Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

When Ryu finally came to a stop in front of his meager family home, it was the deepest hour of night, stars were beginning to disappear along with the moon which had already long since hidden from their sight beneath the ocean's horizon far beyond. In his arms he held a strung out Jaguar cub and his recently adopted daughter while across his back he'd strapped the pack used to contain the girl's scant belongings. He hadn't mentioned the dive to them until he had arrived at the point where the landing platform was far below, he was used to the adrenaline of the fall and able to produce a small tornado to catch his momentum and fall, settling them down easily enough and safely. He wished that he could have come and made space for the young girl before bringing her but he would have to simply work with what he had for the time being.

Not pausing for long, he stepped across what constituted as the small yard and fumbled open the door with the clawed fingers of his left hand, bumbling for a moment before he finally bumped the door open with his hip and strode into the dimly lit foyer. It was just spacious enough for two people of Ryu's shoulder width to stand abreast one another but the step up into the home was also shallow and only far enough away from the door to allow the door to open fully before being flush with the rise. Which meant that the footwear was set off to the side in the small, compartmentalized shelf that was built into the wall, with room enough to fit a pair in one compartment and a half-dozen pair all total inside it. The home bore a faint smell of cleaning oil, tea, and a hint of metal. "I'll clean out my old room. Will take a moment." He set the girl and feline down, unburdening the pack from his shoulders so he could untie the boots on his feet with the fingers of his right hand, folding the canvas tops down so he could tuck them into one of the recesses; it left one wondering just how he tied them with just one hand. With his footwear tucked away, the towering man strode forward, patting Shizuko on the head before flipping a switch that kicked on a light deeper in the home. The entry foyer opened into a wide, barely furnished living room; it had a small, dark wood table that was high enough off the ground to accommodate Ryu's impressive height even while sitting with his legs folded, and over the stone floor was a huge woven rug with a tall pile that was gentle and warm on the feet with a pattern that was all dark brown whorls with light grey hard angled lines along the edge of the rug. The light came from an overhead fixture with two small bulbs that were hidden beneath a semi-translucent glass cover that softened the brightness to make the room feel just a bit cozy.

Ryu looked left and right as he strode through the room, a frown of thought crossing his face for a second before it vanished and left him with the neutral mask once more. "Nala will need to learn to pick up her claws." He muttered as he took a right and headed into a hall to the right of the family room that was separated by a smooth, five inch thick wall of stone with circular windows filled with rice paper screens depicting various nature scenes in vivid colors. The sound of footfalls was muted through the entire house between the rugs that were down over the stone floor and the solid stone walls; the clicks of light switches could even just barely be heard when there was silence and the light the towering man had kicked on in the hall light the five rice paper screens from behind and made the colors even more vibrant.

He ventured down the hall and took a sharp right into a room with an open door, turning on the light to reveal a room that had tatami mats covering the floor, two rice paper screened closet doors that were blank, and a desk that was against the wall directly to one's right that was covered in cases full of jewels, gems, and metals that were both in bands, wires, and strips of various sizes, lengths and thickness. The only other furniture in the room was a dark, plain rocking chair sitting beside a window that overlooked the night time landscape of the village and the ocean beyond with what looked like a potted thistle plant with a red red petal flesh peeking out the top of the closed bulb. His single hand flickered through a short set of seals and two clones burst into existence beside him; the three tall men quietly set to work collecting up the case of tools, the cases of gems and metals, the potted plant, and the chair. Systematically bringing the objects out and depositing the plant into his room, the chair and cases into the family room to be set beside and on the table respectively. The two clones bearing the chair and cases vanished in a plume of smoke as soon as their tasks were complete, leaving Ryu in his dim room setting the flower on the window sill before returning to the hall and closing his door. It was all done in a matter of minutes and Ryu once again was returning to the room that was just down the hall from his own. "Shizuko, Nala, in here." He slid open the closet doors gently, revealing a wooden double door cabinet inside beside open faced cabinets bearing the futon and comforters that Shizuko would be sleeping on. He hauled the futon out, undid the tying strings and kicked the futon so it unrolled across the floor while he lifted the pile of what appeared to be just the comforter, but when he dropped it onto the futon he flicked it aside revealing a pillow sitting on neatly square sheets. Everything was neat and possibly disturbingly organized for a man who lived alone, one might think a bachelor would live in squalor and chaos but the towering man's home was clean, even the futon which would normally go unused in this room didn't so much as smell musty. He looked thoughtful, staring out the window for a moment, waiting for Shizuko to drag her belongings into the room.

The question he chewed upon now, was if Shizuko would be able to keep up with just how strict he was. The man grew up simple, his father having been a former priest of the Temple believed that a modest life was a happy one; but that also meant maintaining one's life with a neat, orderly, methodical, and habitual routine. The girl was young, and Ryu was very certain she would learn just as he did: Very quickly.

Shizuko had been very excited. For the second time in her life, she was going to leave Maruishi and she wanted to see and experience it all. However, it was very late (or perhaps early) considering even the moon had left the beautiful nightsky and the young girl was very tired. Saying she was comfortable in his arms would be a stretch, but it was comfy enough for her to actually fall asleep during the walk to her new home. She had been holding her big kitty tight to her as she was being carried and she leaned her head against Nala's head, and Nala in turn was leaning against Shizuko's chest. Nala had been woken up as Shizuko came home to fetch her, so the kitty was pretty much yawning as much as Shizuko was in Ryu's arms. Eventually they had both fallen asleep and slept leaning against each other in Ryu's arms.

How much time passed she didn't know. She had no clue where she was, she had no clue how far away they had walked... All she knew was that she was abrubtly woken up when she was suddenly forced to stand on her own feet. As she was put down on the ground, she almost tripped over right away as her legs gave away, but she managed to wake up fast enough to force enough support in her legs to keep herself standing. Nala yawned loudly and stretched har long sleek kitten body, smacked her mouth and then slowly followed Shizuko around the house, who in turn followed Ryu around slowly like a zombie. Honestly, she was too tired to really realize much of what was happening around her and the sudden burst of light as Ryu turned the lights on actually made her whine loudly and cover her face with her hands. She even forgot to grab her things that he had put down as she stalked him into the very well-organized apartment.

While she was indeed really tired, the contrast his apartment brought her was enough to make her wake up more and more rapidly and take in her new home. Needless to say, her old home hadn't been nearly as organized as his was. Heck, she couldn't remember it ever having been as clean and tidy in her entire life as Ryu's house was on a daily basis. Not even when her father had been alive had her home ever looked nice because he was sloppy, careless and drunk most of the time so there was cans, bottles and clothes all over the place and she had never been able to keep up cleaning up after him. After he died, she had been in such a bad place in her life that she didn't care and Ryu had probably been very surprised to see just to what extent her home had fallen. At least she had been good at throwing out trash regularly so it hadn't smelled terrible but it certainly would be hard for her to readjust to that kind of organized and tidy life.

Lots of things happened as the clones cleaned and moved things and Ryu kicked open futons and lead her around the home, but she tried to keep up. She hadn't really taken in what he had said about Nala and she wasn't really talking. She was anxious about being in a new home, she was super-tired still and it just didn't make her very talkactive. As Ryu told her and Nala to come into that specific room though, she nodded, yawned and then said ''Uhu...'', then quickly walked back to the entry to fetch her things and then zombiewalked with Nala (who was still stalking Shizuko's feet) back to Ryu. She dropped her bag on the floor and then just tunnelvisioned the prepared futon and threw herself onto it and yawned, indicating she wanted to just sleep again. But it would probably not be that easy for her knowing how organized Ryu. Surely he'd have her put away her things right away or do something else, perhaps go over rules before she was allowed to go back to sleep. Either way, she tried to just pretend to sleep hoping he wouldn't.

Ryu finally started moving when the girl dragged her belongings into the room, opening the double door cabinet to be able to place her things in the drawers provided; he was turning around about the same time as she was doing a full on belly flop onto the unmade bed and lunged to catch her across the stomach with his forearm so that she wasn't face down on the pile of bedding. "Rewards come from work, be diligent, swift and efficient and you claim your rewards all the sooner." He spoke another pearl of wisdom his father had bestowed unto him, passing it along to his daughter despite how tired she was. "Translation. Make your bed correctly before laying in it, do so correctly and you'll sleep sooner." He felt that breaking it down even simpler for a tired child would make things go a little more smoothly and help the learning process along, as well as helping her make the bed guiding and showing her just how to fold and tuck the edges of the sheets around the futon so it would create a smooth, comfortable cocoon for her to sleep in that would be easy for her to make when she got up by simply tugging and adjusting the folded ends. That allowed her to simply roll her Futon to be put away and ready for use, and her comforter the only thing to really wrestle with. If she complied and listened, it would be done and over with in just a couple minutes, arguments would just beget more stern advice about learning to do things properly as good foundation to grow as not only a person but as a better shinobi, which seemed to be her dream.

After the bed was made, the man would let her and her cub tuck down into her cocoon of safety and warmth while he put her clothes into the cabinet drawers organized and easy to find and coordinate, and any other belongings or decorations would be set aside on the desk for later placement once the girl was rested and of better mind to be able to function. As it was, she seemed to have a long day and was fairly content with rest in her new home; which, Ryu had no problem with allowing, the real work began once she was up and after she was fed. With the girl down, tucked in, and an awkward, gentle head pat from an adoptive father to send her off to sleep, Ryu exited the room quietly turning off the light and closing the door most of the way behind him, taking a few steps to turn on the inner bathroom light and slightly closing the door so the girl could find it if she rose in the night.

He spent an hour or so preparing a the fixing for a breakfast with use of a clone to assist and cut down on time before retiring himself to get a few hours of rest before the day started once more.

Ouf. All the air in her lunges was pushed out as her stomach collided with Ryu's quite muscular and hard forearm. She turned her head to look back up at Ryu, who was already spouting valuable wisdom and lessons to her, not that it made much sense to her foggy and tired mind. Sure, him clearing it up certainly did help her, but that didn't motivate her to do it, nor give her the energy to really engage in such an activity. She stood sleepily besides the unmade futon and yawned quite absentmindedly while at least trying to follow along with what he did to the bed. In all honesty, she had never had that much organization in her life, not even when her father was alive, so it would surely be a complete one-eighty for her now that she lived with a new parent in a new lifestyle. One thing was for certain: she'd need to be shown how to make the bed again when she was far more awake.

Once the bed was done, she was almost sleeping while standing. Nala had already curled up on the floor next to the futon, breathing quite peacefully. Shizuko looked to her and felt quite envious, but luckily she was finally allowed to go to sleep. So she undressed quite haphazardly without really showing any kind of shame or modesty, since she hadn't been raised to feel any. Once she was down to nothing but her underwear (which also seemed to be a few sizes too small on the girl), she took Nala carefully and curled into the cocoon Ryu had just shown her how to make. It was comfortable and it was new. She liked it. Thing is, she almost fell asleep the second her head touched the pillow and she just barely noticed he was still moving around the room. She finally fell asleep completely once she felt his warm and caring hand on top of her head.

A new day dawned. Shizuko didn't actually sleep that much, but she felt refreshed anyway. Perhaps it was the new scenery that helped her, now that she didn't have to linger in bad and traumatizing memories, or perhaps she just had gotten a good night sleep. Either way, she got up and stretched. Nala wasn't quite as ready to get up and the cub groaned loudly when Shizuko was moving around the futon and eventually the room. But even the cat got up and stretched for a while after getting enough time to wake up. Now, she wanted to explore. She had a feeling Ryu wanted her to do things though, like with the bed. She had already formed an opinion about Ryu that he was very nice and kind, but also very strict and demanding. So her plan was to go away before he could order her to do anything.

She and Nala went to explore the house first, since she had been way to tired when they arrived during the night, and once she was done she just gently pushed the door open to Ryu's room. ''We're going out to explore!'' she said and quickly shut the door and made quick way for the door, hoping he wouldn't stop her.

The few hours that Ryu got to rest, he spent in a restful meditation that his father had taught him. It seemed that he had been using it quite a bit more these days, and got a sense that he would be doing so in the days to come; although he knew full well it was no substitute for proper sleep it would do just fine for a busy man who had not only a daughter to tend to but work as a shinobi as well. As soon as the first few rays of light spread through Ryu's window, he broke his Vigil to commence his morning routine, though he delayed his usual martial exorcise for the moment.

A few minutes filing down the spines on his left arm, dressing carefully, and quietly moving to the kitchen he finished the preparation of the meals he'd started to put together the previous 'night'. Rice was steamed and rolled into small balls topped with strips of juicy cuts of meat he'd set to cure and chill overnight along with a hot cup of green tea to get everything down nice and smooth. He'd set the table when his newly adopted daughter's voice sounded from the hall, quietly he stepped around the corner of the partition wall and arched a brow as she smacked into his solid frame from her apparent rush for the door. "Not before Meal, you're not. Table is set." He planted his right hand on his hip, looking down at her with his face as stoic and blank as ever but a stern feeling rose off the set of his jaw and shoulders as he stepped to the side, in the direction of the front door, to reveal the table with the meager meal. "New life, new rituals. You don't leave the house without being fed in the morning. As well," He looked at the table for a moment, picking out his words carefully so as not to give the wrong impression. "If you would rather explore the village, I understand. But I hoped that you and I would train together before hand." The young girl's enthusiasm was admirable, he was fairly energetic himself at that age at least until his Father's training had him worn out for the day.

Ryu had grown up hard with some of the overly extreme training his father had put him through, but he'd grown up well. While he certainly wasn't going to put Shizuko through the insane training he went through, he most certainly would do all he could to instill the dedication, respect, and humility that he had learned in his own childhood.

Shizuko came to a sudden stop. Her nose hurt a bit and as she looked up she just saw a huge muscular body towering in front of her. Her eyes wandered from the well trained waist up past the chest and eventually all the way up to meet Ryu's eyes as he looked down at her. She moved a hand up to her nose to lightly rub it without really thinking about it as she listened to Ryu, who clearly had a different idea of how to start a morning in a new place. See, the redheaded girl had really looked forward to exploring new parts of the village where she hadn't dared to go before, and now she had such an excellent opportunity to do so, not to mention that her feline companion seemed just as excited.

Her first reaction to him stopping her was a bothered and loud sigh. While she was in fact a very polite and kind girl, her father hadn't really taught her many manners. He had mostly taught her to be afraid of him as a person, and not for any specific reasons meaning she didn't realize that such a loud sigh would be considered rude. Especially when welcomed into a new home. Her eyes went to the table as Ryu's did, and she looked at it for a few moments. On that table were more food than she had eaten for several days at times, and her stomach actually began growling at the sight of and smell of all the delicious treats plated up.

She took a few steps back so it'd be easier to look up and meet Ryu's eyes. Truly, he was a tall man. Even more so considering her own height since she was already shorter than most kids her age. She shrugged in a carefree kind of way and turned to the table, ready to eat when Ryu said something that sparked an excitement in Shizuko. An excitement that made the excitement from the night before seem like a mild grin. She stared at Ryu at first with absolute silence and her jaw dropped to the floor. It took her a few moments to actually gather what he had said, as if it was no big deal. ''Train?'' she asked as if to confirm. But she never gave him an opportunity to actually respond before she bolted towards the table and sat down properly on one side of it, Nala sitting down just next to her. Shizuko just wanted to get food over with so she could get to training. Nala... Well Nala just wanted food, because big growing kitty. ''M-mister Ryu! Come on! I wanna train!'' she kept urging him and didn't even wait for him to say it was alright to start. Again, lack of manners.

Ah, the zeal of an eager youth. He couldn't help the small smile that came to his lips, remembering his own reaction when his father announced that they would train together. "A leg up on the Academy!" he said, "It'll make you an excellent student, and a fine man!" he said. Of course, his father never really mentioned that it would also leave him sore, strung out, and dazed during class either. Ryu somehow managed to pull through, but barely. Granted, the training he had in mind was going to be much less intensive at first for the girl but it would hopefully limber her up a bit and get her ready to blaze through the physical challenges put forth by classes. He walked past her and patted her head before sitting down. "Don't scarf it, you'll cramp up. Eating quick is fine, but at least taste it, hmn?" He set the monstrous left hand in his lap while his right hand went to work with a set of chopsticks, smooth motions of his wrist and fingers had him putting food away at a comfortably brisk pace only broken by tips of tea to help things go down.

In the mean time, he looked over her small form, taking measure of her movements both from having watched her so far; she definitely wouldn't be an obvious power house so he'd have to show her how to strike effectively with what strength she did have. Quick, brutal placement of blows was just as devastating to a man as a more powerful, possibly slower one. "Teaching you how to stretch will come first, nothing fancy yet. Then we'll talk about strengthening your strike points: Hands, elbows, knees, feet, the works." She was going to be sore, but the results would be worth while. Depending on how much effort she put forth and how well she learned, she could possibly progress to impact training and light spars; he would have to figure that into a schedule though, he didn't want all her free time to be taken up when he was sure studies and friends would take up some of her attention.

The means of eating wasn't a particularly big concern for the young girl. While she certainly had grown somewhat adept using chopsticks during her few years of noodle-only diet, she still ate in a lot of different ways when there was such a bounty of food before her. She ate the rice balls and the meat both with her chopsticks as well as her hands alone, and occasionally she dropped a ball of rice down to her side so that Nala had something to scarf down. Already her kitty had grown to such a size where they almost ate just as much as each other, meaning that the adoption was more than a streak of luck for her when it came to accomodations and training; her economy wouldn't never lasted with a growing, carnevorous feline in her care. Once she felt the pat on her head she just barely glanced up at him while he passed her and sat down, and while it barely had connected in her the night before, her eyes quickly fell to the very strange hand Ryu placed in his lap.

Shizuko was a lot of things. Curious was one of them, but polite was another. It was hard for her to not stare and not ask about the arm during breakfast, especially since her eyes never seemed to really leave it with the exception for whenever she had to give some new food to Nala. She simply nodded and slowed down her eating when told to, and kept half-staring his way while she chewed (and tasted) the riceballs. His idea of training didn't really equal her expectations of the coming training session, but she nodded. Even though he probably wasn't going to show her anything super complex already, training was still training and just the fact that there was someone kind enough to take time off their own schedule to teach her was worth more than gold to her. Besides, he had already shown her how to throw a shuriken, together with Silence, so that was something she could practice on while alone or when Ryu was too busy. Of course, her petite physique might not have been the best in order to handle physical practice, she'd still take that anytime seeing as how she didn't actually have any friends besides her cat, Ryu and the mysterious Silence which meant that timewise she was pretty much available at his convenience, with the exception for classes at the academy.

It took her a while since she had been told to slow down a bit, but she eventually finished up eating and drinking her tea. She remained quiet for a while as Ryu was eating, but for each minute passing her entire body started to shake nervously and anxiously; she wanted to start and she could barely contain her excitement, yet she was scared he'd think she was nothing but a total failure like apparently all other adults did and then leave her on her own again. Lots of emotions raced through her, but she chose to only listen to the excitement, which eventually took over. ''Sir, uhm... C-can we start soon?!''

Once his meal was finished and his chopsticks set aside, Ryu picked up his glass and bowl and carried them to the sink to wash them out and set them aside on a rack, motioning with his chin for Shizuko to do the same. "In all honesty, we already have. Forming new habits is part of training, I'm not teaching you simply to be an excellent fighter or esteemed scholar, but I attempt to teach you how to be a complete you, Daughter." He wasn't as big a zealot about the path to Teleos as his father was, but it was still something important to him. To be a master of anything, one must first be a master of them self. "But yes, wash your dishes and we will start the exercises." He dried his right hand off on a towel and strode over to the door, putting his boots on after removing them from their cubby, some how managing to tie them with minimal use of his left hand before opening the door and waiting for Shizuko to join him.

This wouldn't simply be a matter of training Shizuko either, it would take him over the basics as well; it would remind him of all the building blocks to the foundation of what he was taught growing up not only by his father but by the Academy as well. The Academy would teach Shizuko many means of how to fight, but they wouldn't always teach her the why or the when. The philosophy of combat was up to the parents so their child didn't simply become a meaningless thug. Shizuko would be better, he would hold her to a standard of course, but he hoped that maybe she would hold herself to a standard higher than his expectations. The way to find out would most certainly be to get the girl training and see just where her talents lay.

Shizuko remained seated at the table as Ryu got up and grabbed his dishes. She watched him wash them, and before he actuallu motioned for her to do it as well she was already on her feet with both bowl and glass in hand. At the sink she repeated the exact same procedure he had just performed while listening intently to what he had to say. But in all honesty, she wasn't at an age where it was very easy to focus, and even less so when you had never been taught to do so. Her attention kept slipping, which forced her to constantly force her attention back to his voice until she finally finished her dishes so she could truly put her entire concentration on listening and hopefully learning. It was already becoming quite obvious to her that she and Ryu contrasted each other quite well. He had quite a philosophic stance to life, whereas Shizuko was more of a chaotic person; she lived by impulse and little to no organization skills. She didn't understand the meaning of most of what Ryu said, although perhaps one day she would be able to talk to him as an equal. At least in her own eyes.

Once her dishes had been placed on the rack she came to realize that she was still wearing the same clothes she had been wearing the day before. Not that her wardrobe was particularly big, but she could still afford to put on a more expendable outfit for whatever training he had in mind for her, stretching or no stretching. She excused herself quickly, and with Nala following tightly behind her she rushed off into what was now her own room. It didn't take her long to rummage around her big backpack she had brought with her and pulled out a pair of tights donated to her by one of the nicer ladies in her old neighbourhood, as well as a very basic tee-shirt. She would certianly need an upgrade in her wardrobe if she were to train daily. Once dressed again, both girl and cat joined Ryu by the door as she put on her sandals, then stood ready for him to introduce her to the world of shinobis. This was the minute her real and happy life started.

The girl followed through in her actions, he watched as she repeated what he did before running off to her room for a moment, her little cat in tow. He chewed on the inside of his bottom lip as he paced out the door slightly. He was intending a lesson only about philosophy and stretches, but now he wondered just how far the girl could go if he pushed her a little. How much more could she excell if she did just a bit more? Ryu paused, blinking and stared off over the morning horizon; maybe that is why his father was so off the wall with training. His father pushed him in many ways, not only physically but mentally, constantly testing Ryu's resolve. Maybe...that was what made him into the man he is now.

When his daughter and her little companion joined him, he looked down at her in a new way. He looked at her not as untested potential, but a girl that would be shaped by her youth into a woman. He let out a sigh and dropped a hand on her head, ruffling her hair. "We'll get you some training clothes after this. I hope you're ready, my Daughter." He took his hand off her head and started a long stride towards their training ground, a pace the girl was going to have to jog hard to keep up with. He turned slightly to watch her, a slightly jovial spark in his violet-blue eye, as though he couldn't wait to see what kind of woman she would become.

Shizuko just barely drooped her head as his hand came closer, and closed her eyes while he ruffled her red hair. As his hand returned to his side, she just barely opened her eyes to look at him, both slightly confused and massively happy. The action itself meant nothing to her since no one had done it to her before, but him just touching her and playing with her hair made her feel liked, at the very least, and she could tell he'd be good to her. Or at least so she hoped.

As she finally came to realize she was meant to follow him, she quickly got into a quicker jog so she'd catch up, then just barely slowed it down as to keep up with his quick-paced steps. ''They better be pink!'' she demanded as she jogged by his side to whatever location the Tsuchikage deemed fit for her training.
