He was back where it started, in a way. While the complex was on the other side of the island from here, this was still the island. It seemed a lifetime ago that he was imprisoned as a child, poked and prodded and tortured for science. All because some people wanted to make a super soldier of some sort; something he was fairly certain had never failed to backfire on the people behind it, ever. He had his suspicions that the Shrine, the leading authority here, was fully aware of what was going on if not directly involved. So coming back was likely a suicide mission should anyone recognize him after 20 years.

And yet he was back here, smiling and shaking hands with people after a show. Orouro keeps the smiling up as he moves through the small crowd, accepting praise and making sure the ushers kept people from getting too rowdy. Finally he breaks free and steps through a side door into the dressing rooms, laughing as the energy of the moment flows free from his form. He didn’t shake with fear or nervousness, but from sheer excitement at a job well done. Fists rained on the door as the crowd begged for an encore.

The show had gone on an hour longer than it was supposed to, the crowd calling him back on stage each time he tried to leave. He lived for them in a way, for it was this work that let him do his true calling on this planet. And he had to admit that when it came to performing the music and the shows, he was good at it. And he thrived in this business. There was nothing like it. The rush of being on the stage, the elation at people screaming his name and praising his talents. Their talents.

Well, at least you recognize what I bring to the relationship.

A bittersweet smile comes across his face as the woman’s voice enters his mind, or perhaps more accurately exits it. He could feel her coiled in his subconscious, a bright spot amidst the darkness of his thoughts. Megami. His one companion. His one love. The only person he had who knew what he went through, for she herself did also. Of course. How could I not recognize your talents? Your impeccable sense of style. Your presence. Your…..everything. A warmth flowed into him from her, the woman who lives within. She liked compliments, especially cheesy ones like that. After two decades together, they knew each other like no other couple could. Sadly, that knowledge could never become physical. The man gives a wistful sigh before pushing the somber thoughts from his mind and looking at himself in the mirror.

This would not do. He looked like a fop, which sure the crowd loved it, but he was wanting to make a good impression on the person he was to meet soon. Not make them think he was just a clown from the circus.

Orouro slips out of the fancy show-costume, gold and green and frilly. And slides into a pinstripe suit, charcoal black with ivory lines. He quickly brushes what hair he had to the side, straightening his outfit out a bit and putting the silver harp-shaped cufflinks in place. A quick shine to his shoes and he was set. Sliding out of the back door and heading towards the office of the one he was here to see.

As he makes his way through the village, one hand wanders to his inner breast pocket and pulls out a metal case, gold with a silver inlay of a violin. A flick opens it and he withdraws one of the items within before placing it back. That’s going to kill us one day, you know. With a wry grin he places the cigarette between his lips and lifts a finger, a flame popping into existence at the tip to light the blasted thing before vanishing. Yes but I seem to recall you being the one who got us hooked on these.”

A quick inhalation and his nerves settled, letting his focus a bit more. He knew the lack of such was due to the lack of these things, and not that they offered any benefits to his health. But as he said, it was Megami’s fault they were smoking in the first place. She was always willing to experience new things, and when she was in control he would often find his body along for some insane rides that he’d never have gone for.

He finishes the smoke before arriving, stomping it out on the sidewalk and tossing it into the trash as he enters the building for his appointment with destiny. Megami wondered idly if there was some symbolism between that cigarette and whoever he needed to reach his current goal. He could feel her worry and hope that this wasn’t the case, and reassured her he was here for business.

Perched at her desk, a mousy receptionist with short-cropped brown hair dressed in Moon's traditional red and white garb for their normal personnel flipped idly through a small booklet.

Boring boring boring.

Given the speed at which Aimee could do paperwork, one would have thought she would be the perfect receptionist. In practice, however, when there were no calls to make, she generally had roughly ten minutes of work a day before the Shrine started paying her to do crossword and sudoku puzzles. It was a poorly-kept secret that ninety percent of a receptionist's paperwork was filing, after all. Usually, it was other people filling out the things she had to put away.

Okay, sure, she could do it by hand, but what was the point of going slower than she had to just to pad ten minutes a day out to maybe twice that? Besides, she had a system.

Unfortunately, that system meant she was now flicking her way through a new sudoku book, utterly bored. When the door swung open she looked up, relieved. She wasn't a huge fan of people in general, but right now a person requiring her help was at least something to do.

She pushed the puzzle book aside with a thought and set down her pen. The man entering smelt vaguely of cigarette smoke but hadn't one on him, so that was fine. She adjusted the nametag on her chest so it was definitely visible.

"Shrine reception, how may I help you today?

Orouro lets his eyes wander the room he was in for a moment before settling on the woman behind the desk with a smile. The white half-dome covering his head did not reflect much light, thankfully, but it definitely made him stand out in a crowd. He steps closer to the woman and stretches slightly, a miniature gust blowing the scent of smoke off him even as it catches the satchels in his suit and envelopes him with the subtle hint of cinnamon. He holds out a half to the woman. ”I am Anjeru, I have an appointment today with one of the healers of your establishment to see if I could perhaps take up the art.”

Laying it on too thin love. Thicken the cheese up on her.

Hush you. Orouro steps back once the handshake is complete and stands at a comfortable rest as he waits for his contact to arrive, or directions on where to go. Should the receptionist look his way without speaking he would, as suggested, give her his cheesiest grin. Overly so. Just to mess with Megami more than anything.
