Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Sora, a sprawling metropolis that has grown unchecked both skyward as well as outward. The capital of Wind Country as well as the home of the Diamyo, Sora is not only a site of commerce and political dealing but also a destination site for happy couples, curious travelers and even families. On the surface, Sora seems perfect. The streets might be narrow but they are clean. Advertisements cover every wall, many attempting to sell luxury and designer wares. The most striking observation would be the absence of poverty. There was not a single derelict building, not one beggar, no street-rats or even homeless old maids. Evidence of the community's benevolent efforts evident in the adverts on the walls, many wreathed in lights reminding the find citizens of Sora that there is help for the homeless, the orphaned and the destitute. They had orphanages, workhouses for the widows and spinsters, rehabilitation centers for the addicts, psych centers for the mentally ill. The people on the streets seemed happy or at least complacent in their lives, the busy dense streets walked in droves. There was no street-side sermon announcing that "the end is nigh" or rallied group of protesters speaking out against a new law or policy. The city was a well-oiled machine. There was one unfortunate sight. A missing poster. Hundreds in fact, depicting a young girl likely in her teens of Hyuuga heritage who had gone missing. Shiori recognized the name and the face, she had given a dossier to a group of Genin, from the looks of things they were successful.

She did not arrive in the city until after nightfall, not that it was a problem for her, she would have had to wait until after dusk to carry in the unconscious young man if she did not want to garner any unwanted attention. She entered the city sooth covered, her white dress stained dark and her long blond tresses were blackened and unruly. She would appear to be the only vagrant in the city and despite the shadows night afforded she stuck out. There was no low-life district. There was no obvious seedy underbelly. So she started to sing with her enthralling voice a lullaby. This was not a civilian city, the people fell to the ground fast asleep, that is the few that bothered to wander the streets at night. By the time they awoke, she would be gone like a ghost.

She would find a hotel, this city seemed to go from splendid to exuberant, there was no such thing as economy or budget. She would sing the same song, the white feathers would seem to fall all around them, a contrast to the dark lady that came walking in. The bellhop and the clerk would find themselves on the floor and she would shift Kaen over her shoulder as her heels clicked their way behind the large marble desk. She grabbed a spare key to one of the occupied rooms. A honeymoon suite, how romantic and how tragic. She would continue to sing as she walked away, taking Kaen with her up the stairs to the penthouse.

She did not knock, she simply thrust the key into the lock and gave the key a sharp turn. Light would filter into an otherwise dark space but she did not require the benefit of sight. She would see more than she ever needed to of a pair of lovers knotted in silk sheets. The pair would not have a chance to respond, Shiori had never stopped singing. The sweet, melodic song continued to fall from her lips and they collapsed into each other. She dropped Kaen onto the floor, his back rested against a closed door Shiori continued her song as she made herself at home. First and foremost, the apprehension of this pair of intruders. She did not kill them, she needed them so she only bound them. It was rather fortuitous that she did not need to find any bindings, this pair had some unusual proclivities and fuzzy handcuffs among other paraphernalia could be seen on the floor and the nightstand. She shook her head, humans were the oddest of all creatures she had ever encountered. She restrained them. She gagged them. Then she stopped her song and let them struggle where they would wake.

She would return to the door and pick up Kaen once more, his flesh was still burning hot. She would drop him into a tub, still fully clothed (unless you want otherwise for your response post). There was nothing remotely sexual about the encounter between Shiori and the honeymoon victims or the young man she kidnapped. She did not bother restraining him, she had used some ninja wire shortly after he was knocked unconscious just in case. She knew it would not hold him for long, she just did not want to be taken by surprise. When he finally regained consciousness he would be hardly in any condition to fight and hopefully a water-filled tub would be enough to extinguish any spontaneous fires that might erupt.

He would awaken in a tub filled with water in a place to expensive to even look at a photograph of. Dark, metal chandeliers contrasted the otherwise white walls, drapes and ceiling. A large pane of glass overlooked the city. He would find his wrists were bound behind him, it would take some effort but he would be able to break free. His injuries would be healed by this time, only the silver markings of scars from times before their encounter would remain. He would be alone in the bathroom but he would hear movement in the room adjacent.

When he was ready to leave the room and the tub, Shiori would be aware from the noise the water makes when displaced. He would find her in the next room brushing her long, damp hair. She looked to be well enough considering the fight and the fire. She was wearing something she found that belonged to the woman that was partially clothed and bound on the bed. The clothes were too big around the waist and too tight around the chest but it would do for now. "Morning," she would comment. The sun had not yet risen, however the sky was turning draw and dawn was approaching.

Shiori, or rather Suna seemed unconcerned about the distressed, bound duo on the bed. She would continue to brush her hair and gaze at her reflection in the mirror. "You're durable and strong," she would continue. "You are also likely quite famished," she nodded in the direction of the pair on the bed. "So I picked you up some breakfast." She was of course referring to the couple on the bed, not the half-eaten plate of chocolate covered strawberries, the edible panties or the corked bottle of champagne.

Falling...Yes falling, this is what he was feeling again. How long were these dreams going to last? Kaen couldn't even remember falling asleep, but somehow he knew he was dreaming. Each was twisted and strange it their own way, once one ended the next flowed seamlessly into the next. This time he was falling, falling for what seemed like hours. Everything around him was pitch black, only the sensation of plummeting to his certain doom flooded his senses. Just as he began to come to grips with his scenario, BAM, he would collide with the water like a ton of bricks. It felt like every inch of him had shattered into pieces. He would open his mouth to yell for help, but no sounds escaped his razor filled maw. He sank straight to the bottom, as if weighed down by some unseen force. He would attempt to hold his breathe but it was no use. The water invaded his pressed lips and quickly filled his lungs. Kaen reached for his throat to avail, he was drowning. The feeling of water within his lungs burned, like fire. With that thought the water around him transformed into living fire, dancing around him. The water in his lungs had also turned to fire and threatened to burst from his very chest. Kaen fell to his knees and tossed his head backwards and roared in pain as the fire escaped from his screaming mouth.

"AAGGHH!" Kaen quickly lifted his body, awakening from his slumber. Water around him splashed out from the side of the tub, caused by his commotion. His thrashing sent ripples of water cascading over one another. Kaen realized he had been unconscious and that the dream was only that, a dream. He shook his head and took note of his surroundings. "Where am I..." Kaen looked around the room utterly confused. He had never seen such extravagance, he wasn't exactly a rich guy... Above hung metal chandeliers and behind was a large window that overlooked the city below. City?! Kaen was so confused, where was he? How did he get here? WHY was he here...? Kaen attempted to get a better look out of the window, but quickly discovered he was bound tightly by some wire. Twisting his hands to and fro he eventually squirmed his way out of the restraints. He rubbed his sore wrists and realized what had happened. The woman... Everything came flooding back into his mind, the mark, the power... the rage. Kaen grew instantly dizzy, he was healed but weak from days without food or water. Kaen climbed out from inside the tub, dripping water everywhere. His clothes were soaked, still covered in scorch marks and soot. The water from the tub had also been stained black from the ash the had clung tight to his body. He heard movement in the next room... There was nowhere he could escape, the windows were sealed shut, even if he could get out it was a 30 story fall... no way.

Seemed this door was the only way out and the only path to answers. Kaen thrust the door open, banging it against the wall behind it. Beyond the threshold of the bathroom sat her. Idly and casually brushing her damp hair. Did she bring him here? Where even WAS here? He had to many questions. "Morning," She nonchalantly exclaimed, as if disregarding everything about the situation. To his left laid a cute couple, barely clothed and "parts" partially exposed. The look in their eyes were filled with horror and fear. All the while Kaen and the women carelessly stood by and paid them no mind. Yet their relentless cries for help directed towards him were incredibly annoying. Kaen was far to groggy and distracted to make a hasty reply and she would continue on without a response from him. "You're durable and strong," she remarked. "You are also likely quite famished," she would nod towards the pair on the bed. "So I picked you up some breakfast." What?! Did she mean for him to eat these people? He wasn't that cannibal that was on the loose in the village, he had never eaten people before... "Um... I hope you meant the strawberries, cuz well... I'm not exactly picky about my meals but usually I like them after they are dead and cooked. There's no way i'm gonna get those hips past my mouth, I'm no snake ya know." Kaen had begun to babble, his sentence quickly loosing meaning and verging into nervousness. Even to go so far as to make an attempt at humor directed at the women's voluptuous thighs. He was so taken aback by this all, why was he still alive, why did she bring him here, why does she think I eat people!?

She tossed her hair over her other shoulder and crinkled her nose when she looked at herself in the mirror. "Ewww... strawberries," she complained. "The people," she laughed. What a silly thing this firebug was. "Why in the world would you ever want to eat fruit, unless you are making nice with some prissy human,"</B><i></i> she replied to the jokester. Surely he jests. Fruit of all things! She could not help but chuckle.

<B>"If you want the strawberries, enjoy," she giggled and shrugged. "But your real meal has been wiggling and grunting since I arrived. It is so annoying," she complained as she seemed momentarily interested in her own reflection. She smiled at herself and studied her profile before she picked up a pair of big, dangly earrings and sized them up next to her face. Pretty. "So eat them first. please." She smiled at her reflection as she pushed the hook through her earlobes.

The eyes on the couple widened, they both made muffled protests as they struggled against their restraints. Perhaps they should not have invested so much quality in their toys. The male, clad in at least a pair of boxers attempted to force out something clear. The words for muffled but the inflection was clear - he was begging the young, soggy man for help. They were not going anywhere although they continued to wiggle and try. Shiori frowned at the continued noise, but at least they were full of youthful vigor. So much energy, they are going to be delicious, she thought to herself.

It was then that she bothered to look over at the pyromaniac. "You're soaking wet," she stated the obvious. Afterall it was her who dropped him into the tub until he became a water-logged prune. "Get something dry on, I am sure Karurosu here won't mind" she smiled. Karurosu seemed to mind. She gave the young man a stern look in the mirror as she stood up, the hairbrush clattered on the table. "Are you really complaining now," she scolded the bound man.

Seems she really did mean the people, it was obvious in her laughter. He never really liked fruit all that much anyways, but he was famished and at this point anything would do, he just wasn't 100% sure about eating a human, ya know? I mean sure he had the teeth for it, but that just seemed messy and, well... kinda gross. He had heard rumors that that people tasted similar to certain animals, that they were a little savory and salty. Maybe under the right circumstances... maybe... Kaen shook his head, even his subconscious was rambling. "If you want the strawberries, enjoy," the woman shrugged, again laughing at his slight interest in the strawberries. "But your real meal has been wiggling and grunting since I arrived. It is so annoying," Seems they had something in common, these sheepish people were quite irritating. The woman smiled to herself in the mirror while taking interest in a pair of earrings that could only belong to the woman tied up on the bed. Another quality they shared, Kaen himself often was caught posing or admiring himself in the mirror. He wasn't going to lie, he and this woman were both of a certain... caliber of people. "So eat them first. please." She smiled at her reflection once more and pushed the hook through her earlobes, hers now it seems.

The struggling intensified on the bed at the sound of her command to eat them quickly. Kaen was unable to make on exactly what the man was trying to tell him, but it was clear that he was attempting to reach out to him, a plea for help if you will. Trying to connect to him on a more personal level, seeing him as some sort of savior come to rescue them from their certain demise. The boxer wielding man's eyes took on the appearance of that of a begging stray kitten, mewing for a scrap of food... Disgusting... Their complete lack of composure was sickening. At least be a man when in the face of danger, honestly. Way to look like a fucking coward for your mate. Nothing was more unappealing than a coward. "Will you shut it! Your persistent whimpering is incredibly distasteful, get your shit together or i'll eat you first!" It just came out, the words easily flowed from his lips, what was he even saying? Something in him stirred, it was a surreal feeling, so strange. Was he really going to eat these people?

She managed to pry her eyes away from her own reflection, pointing on the obvious. "You're soaking wet," Droplets of water were still cascading off the sides of his wet attire. Kaen looked down and examined his wet, torn and heavily burned clothes. Yeah they were pretty fucked up, that's what happens when you get into a fight. "Get something dry on, I am sure Karurosu here won't mind" Karurosu huh? Kaen didn't think they would be on a first name basis, given the context.Perhaps they knew each other and he had "failed her for the last time" or something like that. Kaen gave a nod in agreement and started to remove his clothing right there. He had little to no shame, everyone here was an adult, I mean the couple on the bed were practically naked. After he removed most of his clothes and slumped them in a pile he started to rummage through the dressers in the closet. He could hear her yelling at the guy, Karurosu. Kaen didn't really care about them, he kept to his own and sifted through folded stacks of clothes searching for something that fit. What's this? "HA HA HA!" A highly audible laugh would escape the partially closed closet. A moment later and Kaen would open the door to reveal his discovery. "Man these people are into some weird shit, check this out!" Kaen struck a pose, displaying the costume he was modeling. It was some sort of officers outfit, maybe that's what the cuffs were for, a little bit of cop and robber eh? Kaen chuckled and re-entered the closet to find a real outfit.

It didnt take him much longer to find an appropriate outfit, this one was white and more white. It was the only thing that had fit him besides that ridiculous cop outfit. He had also found a black undershirt that fit pretty well too. To bad this thing was probably going to get pretty messy if he was going to be eating people... Kaen left the closet once more and stood in the doorway. He addressed the woman in hopes of approval. Better? After whatever nod of approval or comment she might make, Kaen would approach the couple on the bed. Kaen would lick the edges of his razor sharp teeth and go to the female's side of the bed. He stood there a moment gazing at the crying woman, she was so sure that her time had come. She wasn't wrong... Kaen would sigh before leaning in. "Here goes nothin." Kaen would bare his teeth and slowly inch towards the woman's neck, it would be quicker for her this way and I guess he would just keep going from there? He hadn't reached her quite yet, he only hoped he was doing this right.

It was the sounds of crying, muffled as they were. The sounds of indignant demands, while the words might have been lost it would be easy for one to determine what was being said. The male of the pair seemed to be the more spirited of the two, he tugged, wiggled and struggled against the restraints and the metal clinked and the leathers groaned but they held tight. It was likely he was threatening the pair from Shiori's perspective, something about wait until his father hears about this. That they would pay for this. She ignored them, of course Kaen heard something else, perhaps he recognized it due to his unusual upbringing. Those were not threats, they were panicked pleas. He was not threatening, he was begging. My father would be willing to pay. Please take what you want and leave. The girl was crying, her mascara had already run inky rivers down the sides of her face, leaving dark splotches on what would have been otherwise a crisp white pillowcase. The noise was grating and it would appear that the firebug agreed.

"Will you shut it! Your persistent whimpering is incredibly distasteful, get your shit together or i'll eat you first!"

He threatened and the young man recoiled. He was terrified. His arms tied tightly behind his back and his legs wrapped together, he looked more like a worm trying to wiggle away. He could not run, even on his best day he could not outrun either of them. A part of him knew that, the hopeless and senselessness of it all but distance gave a false sense of security, those few inches felt like miles. Shiori let out a half laugh as she continued to preen. She did not think the ginger had it in him. Perhaps it was all for show, this air of confidence, this lack of compassion. It did not matter if he truly felt that way or not, as long as he played the part eventually he would believe that he was the monster he portrayed.

Karurosu's gag would come lose and the newlywed would gasp for air. "Please..." He begged again. "We have no idea who either of you are, just let us go... no harm... no foul." He tried to reason. It was a futile effort, Shiori was more interested in Kaen's wet clothes and Kaen the contents of their closet. Shiori would see a pair of soggy pants fly across the room in the mirror, either he was getting changed or he was planning on joining the honeymoon couple. She could hear him rummage through the closet and the drawers. She never lost sight of him however, she could hear everything he did. Her sonar afforded her sight eyes could never replicate. He found something of interest, a button down shirt and pair of pants sound would fail to clearly define.

"HA HA HA!"

Whatever he was doing in there, he seemed to find humor in something.

"Man these people are into some weird shit, check this out!"

He would walk around the door, wearing a navy blue uniform. It was form-fitting. The badge said 'booty inspector' and the weapon holster did not have a gun but it did have another set of cuffs and another sort of battery powered 'weapon' shaped like a baton. "Should consider keeping it, looks hot," yes pun intended. "But you might want to wash it first... and take another bath," she commented as she spritzed some perfume that she immediately regretted as she choked on the noxious fumes. That perfume did not smell like roses.

Kaen would return to the closet. The bondage-duo would clam up for a short period of time. Perhaps hopeful that Kaen's rummaging reflected his interests being not in harming them but rather this was simply a robbery in progress. Still far from ideal but in Karurosu's mind they would never reach the edge of town as soon as he got hold of his father. "Just take what you want and leave," the impatient heir complained after a few moments after Kaen found an undershirt that he pulled over his head.

"I do not think so Mister Hisamura," Shiori replied. "I was not joking about the meal," Shiori replied as she got up from the stool by the vanity and approached the bed.

Karurosu did not entirely believe the woman, she was just trying to scare them. Still, there was some sixth sense, something deep down inside that screamed out to him that it was not a lie. Shiori's palm would press down on the bed near him and she would lean close to him, her second hand would reach close to his neck. Karurosu would pull away the best he could, it was a clumsy, pitiful motion. "Lady... Lady! Get back!" He demanded as he pulled again against the chains to no avail as she crawled closer. Her fingers wrapped around the gag that had fallen around his neck and she pulled him closer to her, knocking him prone in the process. He would let out a muffled yell, his face pressed into the mattress she would untie the gag before she released the pressure.

"Shh" She reminded him as he gasped for air the moment the allowed his head to rise.

"Please ma'am..." He tried to continue as her reached for his jawline with her index and thumb. "Let me go," he begged as Shiori played with the gag in her free hand. "Do what you want with her," he was referring to his new wife who looked back at him with shock. She could not answer him verbally, but she had been yelling muffled complaints and cries for help the entire time.

"We will," she was referring to the later request.

"Let me..."

"Shh," Shiori reminded him as she replaced the gag in his mouth and knocked him onto the floor as Kaen emerged from the closet.

Better?

She would look him up and down, it seemed like most clothes suited him. She would smile, the heir on the floor. "You are the loveliest thing in the room," she replied as she gave Karutosu a kick with the side of her heel as she approached her new friend... alternative kidnap victim... half-brother... Well, their relationship has not been defined as of yet. She gave him a lop-sided smile as she looked back at Karurosu. "Sorry, I was playing with your food."

Kaen would crawl onto the bed and the girl would stiffen as he drew close. Her breath would hasten, while again the words she said were lost she was begging him. She was screaming at her new husband who was knocked off the bed. It was a pitiful sight certainly. Kaen would bear his teeth, those unnaturally pointed things and she would close her eyes and scream. He would be able to feel her shivering beneath him. She would raise her shoulder and would make her neck shorter although she knew it was a futile effort.

"Whoa there hot stuff," she forgot his name. Did she ever really know it? Meh. He would feel a pair of arms attempt to wrap around his waist and pull him back. "Why would you kill her first?" She spoke into his ear as her grip tightened and she tried to pull him back. If she missed or she failed, his teeth would sink into the girl unhindered and she would bleed out within seconds. If she was able to move him only enough to shift his aim, his teeth would sink into the poor girls back, arm or chest, none of which fatal but all of them painful and she would scream, cry and bleed. She did not care if he wanted to play with his food. He might be a messy eater, humans were not always the neatest of meals to enjoy. If the would was mortal, there would be nothing Shiori could do but bring her back, she knew the threads of life well. Still leaning into Kaen, her hands in front of him and between the pyromaniac and the girl she would run her hands through a healers array to stop the bleed. If he missed her neck and his razor-teeth bit into her shoulder or her torso she would simply let her bleed. She was going to die soon enough anyways so what was a little blood loss first? "Darling, you are about to waste the best part," she would whisper as she tried to take his hand, lacing it with hers from behind after she knew the girl was stable.

There would be blood. That could not be helped. She would raise their hands if he let her and press it against his bare hand against the girl's sternum. "You feel that? --- That is her heart. Like a hummingbird."<i></i> She would start to explain. "Now close your eyes and remember what you probably learned as a child. Remember the chakra coils you learned about. Chakra is simply a reflection of one's spiritual and physical energy. We are looking for the spirit." She would shift the placement of his hand to the left. "The chakra coils wrap around every organ, just like the heart beneath your hand." She would then gently pull Kaen's hand back a few inches without ever releasing if she ever had it in the first place. Otherwise she would demonstrate with hers alone. She would then suddenly thrust both their hands into the newlywed's chest. It would break through her bones and scrape against the fractured remnants and if Kaen's hands were there he would feel his hand inside her chest cavity, It would be warm and wet, a throbbing mass in his grip. "Her heart," Shiori echoed basic human anatomy. The girl would convulse painfully and a stream of blood would escape the corner of her mouth around the gag. She would become pale almost immediately. She would not fight for long, her body almost immediately would go limp. "She does not have long. Feel the energies she has coalesce, her spirit is forming and it is about to leave. Feel it." She instructed as she possibly rested her head on his shoulder and maintained her other hand around his chest or waist. If his hand was inside of her, he would feel something: it was tiny whatever it was. Almost like a buzzing fly. No larger than a marble and it wiggled. If not, he would feel nothing as she attempted to retrieve it as her hand alone would stay inside. "It is little. It is fast." She unlaced her fingers, her blood covered hand would slide up to his wrist if they both shared that confined space. "Catch it before it runs." If it slipped through his fingers it would be gone in the blink of an eye. "It is coming out now," she would breathe into his neck if they remained close.

If he pinched it as it tried to escape, he would find a tiny glowing ball the size of a marble. It seemed to have a life of its own and would vibrate between his fingers. A pale blue oddity that glowed. It was pretty despite the red that covered his hands and the metallic smell that filled the room. "Put it in your mouth. It is good." She was relinquish her grip on his wrist if she ever had it and wipe her hand on the duvet as she parted from the young man. If it was her hand alone that retrieved the soul, she would show it to Kaen.

Karurosu let out a scream, the girl did not make a sound beyond the muffled scream, the gurgle as her lungs filled and the terrible crack her bones made when their hand broke through. If she held the soul, she would try to feed it to Kaen. If Kaen had it, she would encourage him to eat. If he consumed the pill, it would be easier than it looked to swallow. It would taste like her. Not like her skin, but her spirit. All the sweetness, all the bitterness that made her who she was. All the charity and all of the lies. Her virtues and her sins. Her unharnessed potential. He would taste it all in that single bead. It would feel like bliss and it would feel like hell, this strange diametric sense of good an evil. "Tastes... like... life..." and death.

It was also utterly satisfying.

His heart was racing, every beat like the fluttering of a hummingbird that had accidentally consumed a solider pill. Nervousness was a complete understatement in this given circumstance. His teeth gleamed in the light as his open maw inched closer to the now flinching neck. The woman attempting to cower herself into some semblance of a ball in some off the wall attempt to shield herself from Kaen's oncoming teeth. He was slow and deliberate in his approach, he didn't want to mess this up. Just.. a little... clos-- "Whoa there hot stuff," Hot stuff? Hmm... Perhaps some play on words given his particular skill set. None the less, Kaen would feel the quick but gentle embrace of the woman wrapping around his mid section, pulling him back from his "food". Her grasp tightened and she leaned in to whisper in his ear; "Why would you kill her first?" Kaen was already hesitant in this situation, she would easily pull him back as he himself was uncertain as to the proper procedure here, after all.. he had never eaten a person before. The woman would then take her own hand and interlace it with his owns. "Darling, you are about to waste the best part," It was a strange feeling... While borderline sensual it also came with a feeling of maternal caring and somewhat of a protective mother teaching her young to survive. It was all very surreal, after all Kaen didn't exactly have the best parental experience. His mother, if you could even call her that was somewhat... distracted to fully care for him or his sister Kasen. Kaen was unsure of how to respond or what to make of this stranger of a woman, whom he hadn't even learned her name, holding him in such a manner, helping him in such a way, teaching him in such a way...

I... I'm sorry, I don't know how... In a slow methodical fashion, the woman would guide his hand towards the still crying woman and place his hands in the middle of her chest. Her skin was hot and flush, a bit of perspiration had begun to accumulate as the fear and stress took over her senses. "You feel that? --- That is her heart. Like a hummingbird." Kaen would nod slowly in response to her parental like tone. She would continue in her explanations. "Now close your eyes and remember what you probably learned as a child. Remember the chakra coils you learned about. Chakra is simply a reflection of one's spiritual and physical energy. We are looking for the spirit." She shifted the placement of their hands, which were still wrapped together, slightly to the side. "The chakra coils wrap around every organ, just like the heart beneath your hand." Kaen knew very little about the specifics of chakra coils, he and his sister possessed only the bare necessities of this knowledge, enough to get by and use their abilities. Kasen, being a medical nin, would have obtained a more thorough understanding of this, but Kaen knew his body, and that was well enough for him. But this woman explained it enough, enough for what was going to happen.

The woman inched their hands back off the woman's chest, hovering just a few inches above her bosom. In an instant, the woman sent both of their hands rocketing into the newlywed's chest. Kaen could feel every little snap, crackle and pop as her delicate bone structure gave way to the coupled strength of the duo above her. The fracturing of her bones sent a sensational shiver down Kaen's back, he would let out a small groan as he now felt the insides of this woman. His had was now saturated in the deep crimson blood that had spurted out the sides of the open hole in her chest. It was a pleasant warm sensation, like digging ur feet into the hot sand at a beech. His guide spoke once more. "Her heart," It was a curious feeling, the rhythmic thump of her heart, throbbing in his hand. Kaen's stomach churned as the woman begun to convulse in reaction to her chest being punctured so bluntly. Spurts of blood exuded from the sides of her mouth gag and her color quickly faded to a ghostly pale color. Kaen couldn't tell if his wretching stomach was from the sheer brutality of this event or the exhilarating new experience he was being guided through. The convulsions quickly faded and her body lay limp. "She does not have long. Feel the energies she has coalesce, her spirit is forming and it is about to leave. Feel it." His instructor would rest her head against his own, he would not resist. In fact he would nuzzle back slightly into it, as if quietly saying "I'm ok with this". Kaen would grin, baring his teeth once more, was he... happy? Inside he could feel something wiggling around, his eyes would widen as he experienced this new and incredibly bizarre development. It was slow at first, but the small object quickly begun to move around a lot, as if trying to escape the woman's body with great haste. "It is little. It is fast." She was so right... Her hands slid up his arm to his wrist now. "Catch it before it runs." It was beginning to feel like a game for the nostalgic feeling man. He never really got to play games as a kid, so this was incredibly attention grabbing. Her head was still pressed into his own, she breathed into his neck. "It is coming out now," Kaen's spine would shiver as her cool breath lingered on his tingling flesh. Hnng... I GOT IT!!! Kaen would relinquish his blood covered forearm from the depths of the woman's chest, flinging tiny droplets of bed all over the bloody woman's body and onto the bed. Kaen would hold his prize just above his head. The tiny thrumming ball vibrated in his hands, glowing with an almost otherworldly blue hue. It was so... beautiful...

The woman let go of him and pull herself back, wiping the blood off her hands. "Put it in your mouth. It is good." The man would scream in terror and agony as he witnessed tonight's events. The deep and low gurgling noises as the girl's body instinctively tried to continue breathing but blood took the place of air in her lungs. It was a horrid noise, but Kaen was far to distracted by his prize. The woman continued to encourage him to consume the strange new blue ball, this is what she meant by eating her. What even was this thing? Evidently it was her, her soul if you would. Kaen would gaze at the small blue object a moment before slowly slipping it past his eager lips. Small trickles of blood transferred and would run down his chin. The orb seemed to almost dissolve immediately upon entering his mouth, reducing itself to a soft warm fluffy texture. The overwhelming flavors and textures that exploded in his mouth, and mind, were like nothing he could ever hope to begin to understand or explain. It was like one of those two in one candies, where the outside is hard and sour but the center is soft and sweet. Only this was on a far deeper level with more layers than just the two. At first he grimaced as the sour bitter end of her life flooded his mouth, but then it passed and slowly became bearable. He could almost see her life, or rather taste it. It was such a strange and surreal feeling, tasting someone's life essence. He came to understand her a little better, as feats of wonderment and accomplishments pleasured his taste buds, while sins and failures stung his lips. The utter sweetness of her childhood would be the last thing he tasted as the remnants of her soul slid down his throat. Kaen's head would tilt back in utter enjoyment and he would begin to feel her life energies flood his body. He felt good, no... he felt great, really GREAT. OH MAN... what was this sensation?! His muscles would contract and his blood would quickly flow as the adrenaline flowed throughout his system. That... oh man... Kaen would shudder as the sensations lingered. That was amazing... Kaen's eyes would lock with the woman's own. He was filled to the brim with unkempt energy, every feeling, every synapse firing at once. He felt like he could take on the world, he felt good... He wanted... UGH, he felt like he might explode with excitement. This woman had opened up an entirely new world to him, and he felt like this was only the beginning... the beginning of a strange but gratifying new relationship. Kaen would breathe slowly but heavily, his muscles rippling under his clothes. What now...? He would inquisitively ask his new found friend, all the while staring, admiring everything that she was... Maybe that was just the soul talking...

Death came over her, it was a curious thing. It was not that the young man had not seen death before but rather never with such intimate proximity. The life left her eyes and the difference would be immediate, not that her body would turn color but there would be this sallow pallor, this greying to her eyes. Death was a queer state, this empty shell, this relic of something utterly insignificant twisted and dead. He did not stare at the dead woman with a sense of awe or astonishment, he was still in the afterglow of his meal when her skin became hot. She would look like heated metal statue of a morbid scene for only a moment before a small flame would erupt from the well where her heart once was housed that would spread over her body.

That... oh man...

In a burst of heat the young woman was engulfed, Shiori's hands would methodically start to go through the motions.

That was amazing...

A blast of water would erupt from her hands once the array was complete. It would shoot past Kaen and soak the part of the bed the girl rested on. The blankets would be blackened and charred and now sopping wet. The woman, she would be gone. There would be no charred bones left in the flame's wake. Not even a pile of ash. She was taken by the flames. He would likely notice the searing heat to his back, but if not then the rush of water. There would be no smoke or scent of delicious cooked meat, which would seem odd if he was willing to accept the fact that the woman elected to spontaneously combust post mortem. Even if he considered the fire to be an anomaly compounded by the natural laws the fire seemed to ignore, the most curious thing was the fact the nothing remained once the flames took her. Shiori, or rather Suna did not say a word but in the moment there was a sense of certainty. She lacked a poker face and as she stared past Kaen an eerie smile crept across her face.

What now...?

The query pulled her from her daydream-like state. She shook her head and rattled the contents, "hmmm?" She cleared her throat as her cognizance returned. "Wha-- Ah, yes... Good, very good," she waved her hand answering a question he did not ask.

Flame Court Hybrid? No, not quite. Queer truly this consideration, that Ancients were being made. She could hear their cries, she knew they were dead. This was the second time she heard the voices of a dead race. The Great Courts were destroyed centuries ago by Rangers, the last vestiges of her kind scattered due to the Four Winds. That was before she died, a true death. Homura's Court was the first to be destroyed, valiant fighters each and every one they relished the heat of battle like many would orgasmic bliss. They craved battle, it was more than desire or even addiction, it was a compulsion for them. It made them violent and unpredictable. It also made them powerful as they subjugated and drove off the weaker races, tribes and courts. They created a silent arms race between the great courts and they were firm advocates of the First Law: survival of the fittest. Still, they needed to coexist with the other Courts in one manner or another. It was not only a stroke of genius but brilliant employment of a survival tactic when the Court enslaved men and allowed these men to fight as gladiators in great tournaments. These tournaments sated their bloodlust, not entirely of course but it made them tolerable. When the gladiators fought and when they died it would be to the roar of the various Courts that cheered on their champion and forfeited something of extrinsic value to the victor's owner to reward their successes but for the Flame Court it did so much more, it fueled their dangerous pride and quelled their wrath. For every creature is full of sin and strife.

She would look to the bound and cowering man in the corner of the room out of the corner of her eye and then back at Kaen. He was going to slaughter the young, newly widowed heir and he would get that momentary high but he would not be satisfied, not for need of nourishment or even bored ambition but rather a deep seated burning need even he did not know he had. Perhaps it was a mistake to determine for certain what he was or at the very least what a part of him was; there was that vexing human portion that needed to go but even if there was barely more than a sliver it was better than nothing. And also, who was she to deny them their true basic instinct... It would be a travesty for her to deny the amalgam, be it a bastard creation or a novelty hybrid fearfully mass produced. She knew nothing of the Diamyo's dastardly plans, perhaps if she did she would have done something different just now but she was playing into Nao's plan.

"Do you want to have some real fun?" She raised a single arched brow as she gestured to the one that remained. Tear-soaked and sniveling, he shrinked from her touch as Shiori pulled him to his feet. "You have one more plaything," she reminded him as she pushed the unfortunate captive forward in the direction of the budding madman. He would fall over almost immediately and Shiori would let out a giddy laugh. He would try to crawl away and as he did Shiori would let her heel catch the chain that united the young man's legs. "Watch as he tries to worm away." She would tug at the chain and drag him back several inches with her heel effortlessly. She would then step forward, her heeled shoe stomped into the back of his leg and drew blood. The man would scream and as Shiori withdrew the heel that embedded itself into the back of the victim-heir's thigh a river of blood would trickle forth and leave a trail in the young man's wake as he again desperately attempted to wiggle away.

"Do you feel something welling up inside of you?" She was watching his face, or more specifically his eyes. There was this sort of mischievous twinkle that she might recognize. It was the sort of expression one would see in a cat watching a bit of moving string. There was the compelling instinctive sense that seemed to pervade, this same sense she feared he possessed. In all honesty she did not care if he had an insatiable bloodlust, it simply meant more fun for her if their paths continued on the same road, however there was concern regarding the possibility that he would leave bodies in his wake. That he, being a true neophyte regarding this Ancient attribute she needed to tether him to her side in some fashion. "It hurts, doesn't it?" She frowned with feigned sympathy. She knew it hurt, it always hurt. "Poor baby," she let their victim try to escape, he would never leave the room and she knew it and she approached Kaen. "It will always hurt, but there is nothing wrong with pain. Sometimes it is the only way that you know that you are alive." She reached out for him. "Because if you can feel something, you can be utterly certain that you are not dead." Her hands reached for him, his shoulder, his arm, whatever she could reach and she would pull him closer to her.

Close enough that she could smell him.

Close enough that she could feel him breathe.

Feel his heart beat beneath his breast.

It would seem like the prelude to an intimate moment, the warmth... the proximity... the inferred passion. The fact that she was attempting to disrobe him without saying a word. Sex, however was not on her mind. Not that he was not handsome, but rather sex was a foreign concept to her in most regards. It was only his shirt which would expose his glorious pecs, after all there is nothing of interest on the lower half anyways. "One more gift, if you accept..." A strange, dark arcane energy would emanate from her fingertips.

OC: Sorry for the poor post, did this on a tablet in a hotelroom. Jashinism and torture sounds about right.

"Curious..." The woman had mysteriously burst into flames in the aftermath of her death. The woman had put her out with a quick fire water jutsu, leaving nothing but a charred and blackened bed. Why did that happen? Kaen knelt down by the bed, taking a bit of the soot in-between in fingers, rubbing it between his bloody fingers. "Where did she go? He inquisitively asked. Kaen had never seen anything quite like this before, not people burning to ash, but bursting into flames for no apparent reason and then leaving no trace behind. Anyways... "What now?" Kaen looked back to his partner in crime. "hmmm?" Obviously caught up in some deep thought, this woman grew ever more interesting and mysterious... "Wha-- Ah, yes... Good, very good," But... Did he ask a question? Kaen looked puzzled for a moment before picking himself off of his knees. She stood there looking back and forth from Kaen and the still sobbing man bound in the corner. "Do you want to have some real fun?" With a sly eyebrow raise, she snatched up the last survivor of this messy honeymoon. "You have one more plaything," She pushed the man towards Kaen where he then quickly plummeted to the floor, a loud thud rang out as he impacted against the hard floor. Instantly he would try and crawl away, pointless really... The woman laughed as she pulled him back towards her with her heel effortlessly. It was strange to feel normal, but then realize how infinitely stronger we were compared to the the actual normal people of this world... we were practically gods compared to them... Kaen shook his head as those strange thoughts flooded his mind. Strange... he had never thought of it that way before. "Watch as he tries to worm away." The pathetic worm would let out a girlish scream as her heel found its way into his leg, blood seeping from the wound. Still he tried to crawl away despite the clear advantage they both held over the man, his blood flowing freely from his open hole in his leg, leaving a crimson trail behind him. "Well now you're just making a mess everywhere..." Kaen muttered sarcastically to the cowering man.

"Do you feel something welling up inside of you?" Despite his earlier sarcasm, Kaen did indeed feel something quite strange. A new sensation brought on by the new taste of that woman's life force. Something inside him was triggered, awoken from a deep slumber. An internal metamorphosis if you would, Kaen's eye twitched for a moment as his gaze trailed the man before him. He certainly was a play thing, Kaen almost feeling the need to play with him in a sense before devouring him. He didn't feel like he NEEDED to eat this man, but the overwhelming want, the compulsion was certainly there. Almost like a burning desire to burn his soul from him, Kaen wondering now what the man might taste like... What do old people taste like? What do children taste like... Kaen shook his head from his thoughts, what was he saying? Kids? "It hurts, doesn't it?" She was talking to the food again, almost sounding like she cared for a moment. "Poor baby," She let the man crawl away from pair, Kaen would begin to come for the man, but was quickly stopped by the woman as she approached him. "It will always hurt, but there is nothing wrong with pain. Sometimes it is the only way that you know that you are alive." She reached out for him. "Because if you can feel something, you can be utterly certain that you are not dead." This was something they could agree on, pain was almost a welcomed feeling. For so long he fought, often wondering if he had already died along the way. But the pain reminded him that he was indeed alive, feeling the pain, the inevitable consequence of survival, that was when he felt most alive.

She grabbed hold of his waist, latching onto a belt loop and pulled him close, so close he could see into the dark depths of her eyes. Kaen would momentarily get lost in them, they were so... so... unexplainable. Their bodies were so close now, he could feel her warm breath upon his skin, her body in all its wonderment was pressed firmly against his own. A surreal feeling welled up inside him, something he couldn't quite explain. His heartbeat hastened, his temperature rose. He let out a shaky exhale as he nervously wrapped his own arm around her, his right hand firmly grasping the small of her back, pulling her ever closer against himself. She removed his shirt, exposing his toned body. Little wisps of steam could faintly be seen rising from his skin, his body heat causing distortions in the air like a mirage on the desert expanse. "One more gift, if you accept..." Kaen's body convulsed lightly as a shiver ran down his spine. Strange that he felt it despite his obvious heated body. Kaen would reach up with his free hand to cup the side of her face, running his fingers slightly back into her hairline. "Yes..." Her fingers crawling up his chest playfully like a imaginary spider, her enigmatic glow emanated from her fingertips once more. This was turning into quite the experience. Such strange sensations and intimacy were foreign concepts to him, but there are firsts for everything right?

Where did she go?

That was a good question. "She died the way we die," she answered. Death was a difficult thing to explain, even for something as long-lived as her. "We are made of our element... humans are made from every element." Any good shinobi knows that there are five main, basic elements from which all others derive. "The elements represent aspects, be them time, life, death, strength or even ascension. Elements represent the good and the bad but have no morality in and of itself. Fire is a destructive, passionate force... but that does not make fire evil or bad. Fire keeps you warm, passion allows you to express love and how to defend what is important to you." It was a common misconception, that passions needed to be regulated, that a desire to fight and test ones mettle was wrong but neither of these things were necessarily 'bad.' They were only 'bad' when they were used for evil and terrible things. Were Ancients innocent, certainly not. Not a single being, be them man, Ancient or god is inherently good or bad. "I lack the passions you feel, I do not like to fight but it is likely you relish it... at least I do not feel these things naturally. But when I take these souls, I feel theirs. I feel mine. It is just a spark but it does not dissipate." It made her and those like her more human in so many ways. "All that is left when I take is what I have in abundance. What I do not require. If she were to die by my hand, she would have turned to sand. I have no need for her endurance, her steadfast resilience, her abidance to the First Law." The First Law is survival of the fittest. "You left her passion, her anger, her pain... you did not need those things so you left them behind. All that was left was her</B><i></i> <B>fire." Her voice changed for a moment as she said that. It was an unconscious thing that occurred rarely these days. Perhaps Kaen was well-learned enough to recognize some parallels in the things she had said [Circle of Five].

She was not a hero, that was a role to be left to a more deserving actor. Was she the villain, believe it or not... Not yet. Some would see her as the villain but in reality what was a few dozen dead in comparison to the works of the military forces in Sunagakure or in Soragakure. Whoops -- Something to concern ourselves with at another time. She toyed with the lone survivor, the air was thicker because of his panic and his fear. She could have made excuses for her dangerous and deviant behavior but she had slowly stopped caring these past few years. Whatever sentiments she had for humanity had been stripped away when Sousuke left her, when Harupia rejected her, when everything that bound her to the species shattered and broke.

The man on the floor desperately tried to crawl away, she did not try to stop him. That was the problem with having such a fantastic suite, the place was massive and it was a floor dedicated to only him and his former lady love. Nobody would come for him even if he banged on the door. Even if he tried to worm his way out, he would not be able to stand, at least easily. She would find him wherever he hid. She would eventually kill him, she would have to. Not because he saw her -- she did not give a fig about that. Because Kaen needed his pain. Kaen needed his regret and his fear. Something she was building now.

They drew close. She could feel his warmth against her, she would feel icy cold in contrast but she was the normothermic one between the two of them. As she pressed into him she would dip in for what some might consider a kiss. Her hands would release something dark and terrible into him, not unlike the seal she had placed onto him earlier. Not unlike the seal she had placed on the progenitor of the Sunahoshi curse. Would it hurt - yes. The sweet agony would be bliss as odd as that would seem. A man made of fire feeling as if all he was was set ablaze. It would sting and it would burn to his fiery core, but it would not feel wrong. That is the thing about pain, pain is an indicator of distress and danger. It is a way to protect one's form from peril, but this pain was natural. At least it was natural for the Fire Hybrid. The 'kiss' - to muffle his screams? In part perhaps but not really. Nobody would have heard them and even if they did that would just mean another scorch mark on the floor. No, she was imparting something onto him. Souls or at least their passions, their anger, their hate and their pain. She was giving him hers as well. She was giving him more than a human should bear. The sum total of her losses. Of the Deep Court's losses, she knew them well enough from when she shared a part of herself with the Deep Court Lord.

She gave him something a sane man would want taken back.

But did it hurt? Yes and no. Sometimes pain is good. Sometimes pain was a part of living. Sometimes pain was glory. Homura loved pain. It did not mean he was a masochist, pain was a gift he oft shared. Pain was a release for him, a release for the pent up tensions and frustrations. Pain was a method of satisfying aggression and passion. Of reminding others that you have value, purpose and meaning. Pain also broke through the numbness. The dull sense of not being there; of only barely existing. For those that live as such, pain is a welcome pleasure. The burn... the welling ache... and then finally the release, the endorphin floodgate released. It was ecstasy in other words. That was how it felt for the Flame Court but of course this is something that she would not say, he did not need to know that the power she was giving him was not her own but rather borrowed from another Court. She bequeathed onto him the legacy of his Court, making him more like his brethren even if he was not born with their hot blood in his veins that did not mean he could not change. She, like her brothers have enjoyed a great human bounty these past few months... years in fact, hindered by only the laws of this country and the men that would wish them to repent.

So she gave him her fire and her passion. She had no need for that.

What Happened?
- You know what I did.

Kaen Joyously said yes to her invitation of her offering. He knew not what she would give to him, he only hoped it wasn't as violent as the last gift she had bestowed upon him. She pressed her own body into his, not shying away from the tender passion he implicated. She felt cold, though everyone did comparatively to him, what did he expect. As she pressed forward in her advances, she leaned in and then... euphoria. It was curious really, the feeling. Their lips locked in jubilant bliss, however her hands were hard at work. She weaved her ancient spells and released something both terrifying and exhilarating into him. It started at the ends of his fingers and toes, slowly working its way inward. A tingling sensation, at first, inevitably transforming into something much stronger. Kaen's body felt hot, though this was different from before. His own flames he could stand, but this was not him, rather countless others all balled into one. Kaen's body would naturally attempt to resist and pull away from the pain, despite however much he might have enjoyed this peculiar embrace. But something nefarious held them together in this passionate pose, at least until the transference was complete. Though the pain was great, he couldn't help but feel a thrilling and arousing emotion from all of this. He wouldn't be able to differentiate whether it was from whatever she was giving him, or well... what she was giving him...

The sounds that attempted to escape would become easily muffled by the woman's own mouth, locked in an intimate yet deliberate embrace. An outsider may have mistaken his muffled noises from something else entirely. It was difficult to distinguish pain from bliss, in this situation anyways. His eyes would roll slightly back in an elated fashion as her gifts were bestowed within his own fiery core. He would be completely unaware of what exactly she was giving him, only that his resonated with his own very nature. Somehow she was able to enhance his very nature with her own inconceivable power. This was almost too much, a mere mortal man might have imploded with power, or at least gone insane. This was testing the limits of even him. It was all a blur, really, countless feelings of pain, anger, lust or passion all flashing about inside his mind. A few more influential bits were more easily sorted from the rest, things he wouldn't yet understand. From the deep court all the way to the woman's own fiery nature. He would have a lot to sift through and make sense of, if that was even within his power.

In this moment of pure emotion, whether it be pain, passion, sadness or hate, Kaen had never felt more alive. He felt connected to this woman on a deeper level aside from pure physical association. He didn't even really know who this woman was, where she came from, why she was at that outpost, or even her name. But she willingly gave him power like he had never felt before, such intense raw unadulterated power that unlocked potential within him that he had yet to even comprehend. A change within him was already unfolding before their very eyes, or rather hiding from the naked eye. She had induced a metamorphosis that would make him much more like the sleeping Fire Ancients that had been laying in wait. With this new found power he would be reborn, not like the phoenix if you would. A new found craving for the souls of many would be awoken in this new wake, eyes struck open by the powers that be, the power of this woman... In a way he felt bound to her, for it was she that spared his life that day, it was she bestowed a curious power within him that very day, it was she that had given him this seemingly boundless font of power, it was she, he assumed, that would guide him in his understanding of his new found abilities... and it would be she that he would revere as his earthly goddess. Only a being of such unfathomable power such as a god could have given him the power she just did... it was the only explanation. Kaen was far to young and naive in the ways of her kind, or I suppose their kind now... He would not come to understand the events that took place this day for a very long time. And so he would assume that this new found power was a boon granted by the kindness of this wayward ancient, and for whatever reason had chosen him to be her champion of sorts. It may not have been this was in so many words, or even this at all, but this is the only thing he conceived in the moment.

After the process had come to completion, their lips would part leaving a almost longing sensation upon his. By now his eyes would have closed and his body relaxed as the power set it. He shivered a moment as a slight chill ran down his spine. He slowly opened his eyes a blinked a few times at the woman. He was at a loss of words really, I mean... What do you say to someone who did all of this? I suppose he might as well start from the beginning... "Who are you..." A simple question but in a sense not. Her answer would forever cement who she was in his eyes. Be it servant, ally or just another mere experiment, Kaen was indebted to this woman, more than he would ever know.

[OOC so sorry it took FOREVER, work kept on giving me dumb schedules that messed everything up. I managed to get this out by working on it in bits and pieces throughout my day today lol]

OC: No worries, my father and grandfather worked corrections as warden and lieutenant my childhood -- their schedules were more wacky than mine.

IC:

Shiori came from a time before the first men. A time when there was only earth and wind and sky. A time when life was breathed into these elements because they were what came from the mire, and the sky and the dark. But even they were not the first, they were simply what came after something even older than they and surely what preceded her flushed out what came before them. Life might be cyclical for a species as redundancies are had but not between eras, something she had only recently come to realize. She, much like the scattered few left of her kind were never intended to be here and they were out of place. Their 'magic' was replaced with human jutsu and they demanded of the elements with their energies and their hands what they would command with a word. Time and injury had stolen from her much of what made her unique over the years as she desperately took into herself elements that she was not... that she could never be in an effort to resurrect what she had lost, discarding what she had left of herself in the process. One such thing she relinquished was Homura's Flame -- that trace of him she had tasted in a human so long ago [Chikara - former PC hybrid] and relinquished that along with the fire and passion she had stolen from so many victims. But there were a great many things she did not know, for one she knew that Kaen was already some sort of hybrid but she wrongly assumed he was like Senju Kazuki, that somewhere along his family bloodline there was an Ancient and this seed lingered latent for generations before it was spied by another Ancient. That was not the case here, he was not a natural Ancient, he was created.

Kaen was a unique case, however, he was not like the likely hundreds of humans that possessed a lingering thread from one of the courts, he was more like an incomplete Soverign. Kaen was of course a child or a young teen when it happened, when they 'experimented' on him. Did he ever hear them say what they were putting in him? Why it hurt so much? Eventually that pain would have went away, it would not have become a dull ache but rather a blissful experience. Something a certain ANBU Captain had already discovered, but both were unique specimens in relation to each-other. Kaen, unlike Roku was incomplete. Perhaps Shiori was able to give him enough, enough to make him more Ancient than human. There was an angry, jealous and fearful part of her than wanted to eradicate the human parts in him and perhaps that emotion was also translated in the kiss. She held onto him, despite the searing sensation she could feel on her palms and through her dress. He felt as if he would spontaneously burst into flames but he did not even as he tried to pull away. From her lips and maw to his own so many intangible threads would depart only to impart themselves onto Kaen. She would feel him getting hotter but she would only tighten her grip despite the pain she felt until the transference was complete.

When the kiss broke and she relinquished her grip, the comparatively cold air was welcomed. She forgot how hot their fires burned. It was a dim, dizzying sensation that left a part of her feeling empty. She had given him power that was not her own from a portfolio she would never... could never use but she was used to it sitting here like a rock in the put of her gut. She did not realize how much they betrayed her nature until they were gone, how they made her feel. She was always angry, she had lost too much to feel otherwise but there was a passion behind that anger that was gone now. The world felt dull, only in shades of grey, except when she looked at him. Was he always so... red? She could not be sure. She took a step back, several in fact until she bumped into a wall. She wanted to look at him, take him all in but the heat that radiated off of him was intense.

"...brother-flame?" There was the inflection of a query in her voice as she said that. No, there is no way she would know that. "How do you feel?"</B><i></i>

He had a question of his own. "Who are you..."</B><i></i>

Didn't he already know the answer? She furrowed her brow as she gave a single word as reply, <B>"...Suna." She was nothing like the books or the legends that surrounded her legacy. Humans had a strange habit of romanticizing what she was and how she helped the first men once free from the shackles of their Ancient masters because of the boon she gave to the Sunahoshi progeny of Primus. It was centuries ago, after the fall of Homura and Fuujin at Godsfall, the turning point in the war that would seal Ancient's fate as an extinct species. Their leader, a former gladiator from the Flame Court, Primus led the slave revolt. He was a strong man by human standards but he should not have been able to face off against either Lord alone and be able to defend himself, nevermind defeat either or in this case both in a two-on-one battle. She would not realize until later that it was Shoki that Primus wielded, the great equalizer that ensured the progression of eras.

He did not know anything did he? Did he grow up in a box?

<B>"Can you control your flame?" Shiori asked, the aura of heat that radiated off of him was intense. "Your passion, speficially your aggression is what makes your flame burn the hottest." Even she had concern that he might burn her alive inadvertently. Even for an assumed halfbreed, he was rather powerful before she gave him what remnants of the Flame Court she could find within her own being. "Do you know what you are?" She would ask as she approached, even if the heat diminished the air about him would like like as if she walked into a sauna. "Your heritage can be traced back to the Flame Court, all the way back to Homura himself," she announced. She was of course partially wrong in her assessment, she did not know that he was made this way but even still the Flame Court was a part of his very essence so even if she knew the truth that would not change what she saw in him. There was of course the matter that he survived the instillation, a mystery she had still not quite solved. Why do some survive and get stronger like him while others wither and rot away? "I lived in a time before the races of men and I remember the races of the first men. What came before men were Ancients, such as myself." She took a seat on the edge of the bed. Tomes spoke of Ancients as tyrants and as gods, but they were neither. In fact if someone were to truly liken them to a mythological figure they would have been better associated with they fey.

"I am not sure when your family line came gained Homura's Court... <I>Strange in fact.." she seemed to ponder an unspoken curiosity. "I never knew him or his court to... be such sexual deviants," she commented. It was the truth, human sex was considered disgusting by most Ancients with the fluid sharing and the prolonged proximity. Well, there was that and the fact that having sex with some Courts, such as the flame sort, would be like having sex with a radiator. "It is a testament to your ancestors that they survived." She let out a sigh, "and I suppose that it is my burden to also tell you that you are the last. Whatever threads of heritage I have given you plus your own natural basic heritage is all that is left of the Flame Court. Your brothers have all been eradicated by the Rangers years ago."

If he was willing to listen she would tell him the story of what Ancients were. Of what she believed he was. Of what she did to him. By nature the Earth Court was not a Court of deception, perhaps if she was a denizen of the Deep Court she would have twisted this moment into something else but that was not the way of her court and of her nature. "Do you know what Ancients are?" Assuming not, she would continue. "They preceded man by well over a millennia and came after a time of gods," the irony of her statement did not escape her as she remembered the stories she heard of these titans they had pushed into oblivion. Comparatively they like gods to them but like Ancients probably seemed like gods to humans. "Well, beings more powerful than we were but despite the disparity in power we pushed them into oblivion in the dawn of our time. The first Ancients, such as myself all came from the elements themselves, raw and unadulterated. I came from the earth, Homura the bowels of the earth, Mikaboshi the darkness, Fuujin the sky, Orochi from a hunter's intent, and so many others. The sea and the storm, the plants and the heart, they all had life here in wind country and it was through this spontaneous creation of life we were born without mothers and immediately at odds with the titans that came before us. We destroyed the beings that came before us and these lands became our kingdom. That was until the first men came. They came from lands outside of our borders or we believe they had. Insufferably weak but numerous they became laborers, servants and gladiators for the varied courts. Some humans on rare occasion were even welcomed and treated as fellow Ancients but such was rare during those times. It was then that we discovered what humans were, that they had something us Ancients lacked. Their soul... their essence was very much unlike our own and it empowered us. So we ate our fill. We ate to excess, Lords such as myself." Perhaps she was admitting to her sins, in a way she was but she did not admit to all of them.

"Eventually there was an uprising, it was not the first but it would prove to be the last. Led by a former slave from your Court -- Primus, he rallied the nomadic tribes that were not under our rule as well as the slaves of the Solar and Flame Court as well as several lesser known Courts and declared war. They were losing until Godsfall where Primus brazingly called upon Lord Fuujin and Lord Homura to fight him in a two-on-one battle that he boasted would forever end this war. Primus mortally wounded Homura and Fuujin both and although Primus too died from grievous wounds inflicted onto him with the death of the two most powerful Ancients to have ever lived by a single hand, the tribes of men rallied and the trepidation of the warring Ancients caused their bones to quake. As the Ancients fled, the tribes of man took most of them. Those that survived the battle that day were subsequently hunted by human Rangers, an early Order fostered by humans for primarily game hunting that eventually specialized to become an order that hunted all matter of creature including my kind and even allegedly supernatural beasts. They eventually turned on neutral courts such as my own and the Deep Court, eradicating what was left of the Ancient race doing so." Obviously she survived but it was not because of humanity's misguided love for her.

How did she survive? She fought them off. She cursed the Sunahoshi line by giving them a boon much like Kaens but with a different intent. Then she died.

"I have taken it onto myself to find the last vestiges of my people, such as yourself and allow you to realize the glorious heritage within you." They were something better than human. Something that would endure longer than man if given the chance. Something that could undo the damages Shoki had wrought. She did not require a champion, her people did and she would make them one by one if she had to.

TLDR;
Shiori assumes Kaen was a half-breed Fire Ancient (like Kazuki with the Deep Court) and she is right but also wrong. Kaen was made into a hybrid through science not the procreation of his ancestors but it is likely that he has something 'special' in his blood that made it possible to survive the process but his process was not complete (Roku's was). The Soverign are more like sponges that absorb Ancient essence, Kaen is more like a hybrid whose human essence has been partially replaced (unnaturally) by this Flame Court Essence and Shiori is literally trying to burn out more of Kaen's humanity giving him Chikara's essence (because he was a hybrid direct line from Homura) making him more Flame Court Ancient than man. The only 'rule' (because all Ancients have a rule) is a love for battle but this can be sated through sparring, real fights, watching fights, etc. CREATIVITY IS KEY! If this is something that is uncomfortable, claim it did not work or whatever. I am all about everyone being happy with what they are and what they are doing.

His power radiated with intensity he had never before been capable of, so much so that it caused the woman to back up against a wall in an attempt to flee his heated aura. He would not understand the meaning behind her words, Brother-flame. But she had come to name herself, however confusing it may have been to hear it aloud. "...Suna." What did that even mean? Perhaps she was named after Sunagakure? "Can you control your flame?" She inquired, obviously in some discomfort from his general ambiance. He had not noticed, it all felt normal for him. "Your passion, specifically your aggression is what makes your flame burn the hottest." She wasn't wrong, after all of that his emotions did feel a little more excitable then normal. Everything felt as if before it was dull and grey in comparison to what he felt and experienced now. It was strange, really... He did feel angry, now that she mentioned it, but from what? Something in the back of his mind stirred, he felt it... But he needed to control it, it wasn't so different from before, however. Just a lot more intense and furious, it would take some concentration to relax his mind and temperature. With a deep breathe he would slowly exhale, the heat would recede back within himself to a much tolerable level. He would still feel feverish to the touch, but it was a far cry better than before.

With flames at bay, she would safely approach him with a question of her own; "Do you know what you are?" He thought he had already explained what he was, back at the outpost. Just another failed, or successful depending on how you look at it, experiment. He would not be aware that what they infused him with was pure unadulterated grade A Flame Court Ancient. Hell he didn't even know what an ancient was, he wasn't exactly the bookish type and everything he knew and learned came from himself or word of mouth. "Your heritage can be traced back to the Flame Court, all the way back to Homura himself, I lived in a time before the races of men and I remember the races of the first men. What came before men were Ancients, such as myself." She sat herself at the edge of the bed, Kaen would remain in place, a perplexed look about his face. "Flame Court, Homura, Ancients? All of this is new to me, I know not of what you speak. But you seem to know what I am, what am I, what have I become?" So many questions filled his mind now. He had already been curious about who she was, Suna certainly didn't explain much, now who was this Homura guy, what the hell is an Ancient? She went on to explain that he was the last of the Flame Court, did that mean he was one of these things called Ancients?! And now she spoke of Rangers, whatever they were, they hunted his kind down to extinction it seemed. All but him, it seemed.

She began to explain what ancients were, he of course knew nothing about who or what they were, so this would surely be most insightful. As she went on to explain everything, Kaen came to realize something... She was incredibly old, yet she did not appear as such. Could it possibly be that she was not named after Sunagakure, but rather it after her?! Her story took some time to tell and in the midst of her tale he would come to sit at the edge of the bed listening intently. She explained everything it seemed, from the Ancients to the courts to the uprising with Primus, from his own court no less. Rangers hunted them all down, and here we are. Though... if they hunted them all down, why was she still alive? "I have taken it onto myself to find the last vestiges of my people, such as yourself and allow you to realize the glorious heritage within you." It was not yet apparent, but Kaen had been altered by her transference. His passions, lust, hate, aggression and an unending thirst of battle would begin to overwrite his DNA and slowly etch away at his humanity. However small it may be, the entirety of his humanity would not be able to be extinguished, whether it was from only partial Ancient essence or insufficient souls, or even perhaps the obligations he held for his dear sister Kasen. He would still have those ties, for now... "I... I think I understand. I'm an Ancient, like you, but different... And now I have Homura's essence within me? " His head was still slightly fuzzy from before, new feelings and thoughts rushed around inside making it hard to think. "So... If all the rest are gone, and the Courts are scattered to the winds. That means you are the last Court leader, the Queen of all ancients... And you have chosen to awaken my heritage so that I might serve you..." Kaen's voice trailed off deep in thought. To him she was the Queen of all the Ancients. He was unfamiliar with their customs and would not know otherwise. Perhaps she would explain it, but would she want to? With this way of thinking, Kaen would feel the need to be subservient for this Queen Suna. After all, she did grant him powers that far surpassed his normal bounds, explained what he was, taught him how to feed. She even went as far to bequeath him the very essence of the Flame Court's leader, Homura. It was all beginning to slip now, his ties to humanity. He was so enthralled by this wondrous new discovery of his heritage, everything else just seemed so... unnecessary.

She was not named after Sunagakure, Sunagakure was named after her.

The heat that came off of him was intense. A lot could be told about an Ancient through their aura. Their aura was often burdened by the emotions of the Ancient, be it the roiling heat of the flame, the dire chill of the deep, the song of the wind. His aura was searing and when it finally receded to a feverish heat, only a dull ache would remain. "Ancients can be identified by their aura, something we have learned to hide... The tribes of man would hunt you if they knew what you harbored," she warned. It was the truth, even if Rangers were long extinct their sentiments persisted in the generations that followed. Peace never could be had when one thought of the other as meat -- she was told that before on more than one occasion and they were not wrong.

"Flame Court, Homura, Ancients? All of this is new to me, I know not of what you speak. But you seem to know what I am, what am I, what have I become?"</B><i></i>

She thought the answer to that was obvious. Old wives tales, historical accounts, tomes full of all the things that once were. Of a race that no longer is or so she thought. Purebloods such as herself might have been hunted to extinction but their heritage endured through people like him or so she thought. It was an erroneous assumption for her to make that because he shared the traits of her brothers that he must be one of them but even she heard the screaming. She just did not want to think about it. What she wanted more than anything was not the product of some sadist's experiment but kin. <B>"You have the qualities my brother once had... Homura, Lord of the Flame Court." She smiled, but it appeared sad. "At some point... not sure when, he must have..." Is there a good way to put it? She doubted any physical union Homura had with a human to be consensual but the evidence of a product of a union with or without consent was before her now. "Fathered a child with a human," that sounded close enough. "And you are not alone, I found another like you some time ago. A Cabalist," well a Cabal sympathizer "he was named after the progenitor of his lineage, Chikara Homura. We fought... he won but I survived and I took from him some of Homura's essence." It was not his skill that was fearsome but rather it was his blade, his blade that cut her so deeply she could feel the dull ache even still. She looked at her shoulder, she could barely see the scar because it was so faded but despite taking a new form that mark persisted. "He seemed rather adept at taking out our kind," she did not even feel his aura. Part of her wondered if he was a Ranger. "I gave to you what I stole him Chikara plus every vestige of fire I felt in the people I have consumed," at a loss to herself, their passion was their power and it was something that she lacked. Humans were funny, fickle creatures that seemed to have a bit of everything in them. Whatever the spark was that first made them, it was exceptional she had to admit but hated doing so. "With his essence, you are almost a full Ancient. There is some pesky bits of humanity that remain," she was systematically destroying what it was that made him human but the question one should really ask was -- beyond the biological differences was Kaen still the same man beneath it all? That was a query only Kaen could answer. She made no secret of the fact that the power she gave him would whittle away at what made him human, some would claim that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. But what of those that claim that there was nothing corrupt in just being, in surviving?

"I... I think I understand. I'm an Ancient, like you, but different... And now I have Homura's essence within me? "

"Yes," she affirmed. This was a lot to take in one could suppose but she was having a difficult time believing that he was oblivious to his nature this entire time. Denial was a powerful thing one could suppose. "You are an amalgamation of both human genetic material and Fire Court Ancient, more flame than man now." Yes, he was different. Even if he was a 'complete' Ancient, they would never be the same. "The Fire Court was one of the three Great Courts in this Country -- Flame, Earth and Solar. The denizens of all three have been hunted to extinction," she repeated patiently.

"So... If all the rest are gone, and the Courts are scattered to the winds. That means you are the last Court leader, the Queen of all ancients... And you have chosen to awaken my heritage so that I might serve you..."

Sure... let's go with that.

The intricacies of the Courts seemed to be too much. He reminded her a lot of Homura in this as well, very direct and straight to the point. He rarely overthought things and sought the simplest solutions he could. For a moment she forgot she was talking to a hybrid and thought he was Homura despite their wild physical differences. Homura, like all of the Lords was also a being of intense personal pride and honor; service was not something he ceded. And that fact is what grounded her. No, he was not one in the same. She wished he was, but Kaen was not her brother Homura. For a moment she felt a pain where he heart should have been if she had one. "Yes, that is exactly why." It of course wasn't, her actual goals were far longer term. She was not seeking a champion but she might have stumbled upon one. No, she was simply seeking the companionship of her own kind -- an eternity alone was a long time to endure when lonesome. The life of humans were fleeting, like that of a mayfly to her. One moment they were here and the next they were gone despite the fact that they seemed to have been only born the other day. Time seemed to move incredibly fast for them or perhaps too slow for her.

This would prove only the start for Kaen.

Humans will hate him. Rangers will hunt him. Scientists will want to study him. He will always be surrounded by people but he will have nothing in common with them. He will be utterly alone, something he likely will not understand until it was too late. He was given now an oppertunity or rather a cruel curse to discard his humanity and in exchange have a life longer than it should be powers beyond her previous mortal scope. The price was steep however, he had to destroy a part of himself in the process.

She would turn to him and place her hands on his shoulders. "Do not trust the races of men... with their Oracles and their Rangers... Humans do not have rules and most have lost their ties to tradition. Do not trust them because they will hurt you, they will study you and they will kill you." He was different and humans hated and feared what was not like them. It was a senseless, baseless fear and it was dangerous for new Ancients or those who have only been just awakened such as Kaen. "Get stronger than they are. Never let them win. And feed your voracious hunger," she instructed but there was a terrible intent in her instructions. There was but one taboo among the Ancients 'never consume your own kind' and here she was telling him to eat the souls of his brethren men. It gave the predator power beyond measure but it took from them their reason, it scratched away at what made them what they were. She wanted Kaen to feed, not so that he would go mad. No... she would not wish that on her brother, on her son, on one of the only bits of family she had. No. No. No... She wanted to rot away his humanity. She wanted to replace it with the superior race but first she needed to drive out what humanity remained. She would find threads of the fire court, even if it was only an infinitesimal thread in humans or a small pocket in someone whose legacy had a generational secret and they too were a watered-down Ancient hybrid.

"Are you hungry? I can call room service."

Suna did not deny Kaen's proclamation of her royalty, he appeared as if this were the truth. Each fleeting moment that passed inched Kaen closer and closer to the grand abyss that separated him from his humanity and delving head first into eternity as a full fledged ancient. Everything seemed to be coming together now, Kaen had finally learned what he was, who he was meant to be. With a queen to lead him on his new path of salvation and ancient-hood, nothing would stand in their way. But let's not let this servitude be misconstrued from the truth. While Kaen may be subservient to his new found leader, The mother of Suna, Queen of Ancients, he was not passive in the slightest. There would be no bowing, no groveling. It would be very much akin to how he viewed the Anbu ranking system. A single individual may have seniority and out rank him, but that did not mean the other was set above the rest on a shiny pedestal. No, he would feel as equals until otherwise proven wrong. This would only come from a test of merit, a test of strength, faith and power... battle! Suna had already displayed such power and cunning as she easily dispatched the young fire ancient. For now, she stood above him. There will come a day in the future where Kaen would again test his mettle against Suna, the Queen of Ancients.

Suna would turn to face him and place her hands on his shoulders, they felt nice, safe, caring... "Do not trust the races of men... with their Oracles and their Rangers... Humans do not have rules and most have lost their ties to tradition. Do not trust them because they will hurt you, they will study you and they will kill you." If she only knew how close she was to the truth... All his life he felt this way, humanity was cruel and unforgiving to those without power. They had already studied him, tested him, tortured him. Well it ended here and now! "Get stronger than they are. Never let them win. And feed your voracious hunger," That had to be thee most single best motivating speech ever uttered in existence. Or at least it felt this way for Kaen. His mouth parted to expose his razor sharp maw, widening to an almost devilish grin. His heart rate quickened in excitement, anything more and he might end up bursting in flames from sensory overload. "Yes! I will become the strongest, my appetite will never be sated, I will consume all that dare to stand in our way. I will never back down, they will all succumb to the will of your power!" Kaen always did have a must win attitude, but this seemed a little excessive in contrast. Seems that Flame Ancient persona was already showing through, exactly as intended.

"Are you hungry? I can call room service."[/quote] Kaen perked up at the thought of food. He was hungry, incredibly so, how did he now notice until now? He grabbed in stomach as it made an audible groan. Where was that other guy from before? Perhaps she meant for him to eat him? "I believe we have some wandering food in here somewhere, his blood trail leads that way. Or did you have something else in mind, my..." Well I guess there is a first for everything, even awkward moments where you have to establish lines and boundaries and yes, even names. Sure she told him that she was Suna, also that she was his queen. But did she want to be called any of that? Kaen certainly wouldn't want to be called "Flame Ancient", that would be weird. "Say uh, what should I address you as anyways?" Sure he could just say, "Hey Suna" every time he saw her, but was that a secret he was meant to keep? Or even "My Queen" but even that might feel a little... silly.

She did not know what was going through Kaen's mind. That he was already contemplating the next time he might test his mettle against the Earth Court Queen. It was very much a trait of a war-mongering Ancient, the pent up aggression, the idle curiosity, the drive to test one's limits in terms of strength. It made for hard times in Homura's youth. He was difficult at times to deal with, his constant aggression meant frequent declarations of war, tests of strength and victor's prize. Homura was the reason she developed a taste for men. She needed to stay strong, to at least match her fellow Lord not in wit but brawn. Without her continued vigor, her Court would have been reduced to obscurity like so many others. It was not that there were only three Courts - Flame, Earth and Solar, just they were the only three Great Courts that lorded over the other, lesser courts. In fact they were called "Lesser Courts" such as the Deep and the Wild Hunt.

She placed her hand on his shoulder. he felt warm. He was a good firebug. She gave him some good, friendly advice.

"Yes! I will become the strongest, my appetite will never be sated, I will consume all that dare to stand in our way. I will never back down, they will all succumb to the will of your power!"

She smiled, "of course you will." He was the best firebug. It was a strange sensation, this was a feeling that she had not felt in a long time. Things were finally working out into her favor, she would soon enough be a pariah but now she was strong enough as to survive. If she was not, then perhaps it was not meant to be. After all she, like all of the Ancients followed by the First Law -- survival of the fittest. Being 'fit' does not always refer to physical brawn, if it did she would have been dead a long time ago. She had her wit still. Not all wars were fire and brimstone, that was the Flame Court's lot anyways.

She offered him room-service. She was of course not referring to the food that they would deliver, rather the delivery people. There was a pretty young thing she had her eye on. There was also chocolate cake, even if it had no nutritional value, it was dam delicious.

"I believe we have some wandering food in here somewhere, his blood trail leads that way. Or did you have something else in mind, my..."

My what? My friend. Neighbor. Fellow Ancient. Fellow Wind Country denizen. My what?

"Say uh, what should I address you as anyways?"

"Good question," she admitted. She did not even know his name. She had been calling him her 'firebug' this entire time. "I will be hunted again soon enough, but I have no reason to hide anymore. Suna is fine. Or Shiori... or Rioshi" She frowned as she gave the last name, it was her alias. Well that was all of her alias' less a final one. Her hiding place among the ANBU remained unmentioned, it was her safety net so to speak but not because she was afraid of the hunt. She was seeking the Hunt. She needed another heart. She reached over towards the nightstand and slid a newspaper with the tips of her fingers closer. Apparently the kids she sent on that suicide mission succeeded. Soon enough Sunagakure was going to have a hell of a lot more to contend with than a former Ancient past her prime. Kidnapping the Otokage's wife is a great way to make a terrible first impression. "Sousuke will be rather displeased when he learns what his secretary has been doing on her spare time."

While "Suna" was enigmatic in itself, as far as referring to this woman here. Shiori was a much easier name to grasp, at least when interacting directly with her. He would of course not divulge any of this or her true name to anyone without her direct say so, after all if Kaen was to be hunted, she would likely be a far greater prize given her pedigree. For now it seemed that Kaen had everything he needed to go forth unto the world and express his free will and nature upon the lands. With his new found abilities, which he would need to thoroughly test and gauge for advantages and weaknesses, he was sure to sate even this new found thirst for battle and souls. "Sousuke will be rather displeased when he learns what his secretary has been doing on her spare time." Sousuke... Wasn't that the Kazekage? Was Kaen meant to know of what she spoke? Or was this just the passing murmurings of a contemplating ancient? Perhaps the older you get, the more often you speak what's on your mind. Kaen would approach Shiori slowly. "Yes well, before we order anything, were there any further instructions you wish to give me? Aside from the ones you previously gave me, perhaps a secret mission of sorts or maybe fetch you a cup of sugar for a cake?" Kaen smiled and chuckled at his own dumb joke, he never really was good at them, but he tried none the less. He had his previous orders, fight, never lose and feed to his heart's content. But the Queen of Ancients, the Mother of Suna surely would have a greater and deeper purpose for him other than pure destruction, right?

[OOC MFT - I again apologize for the long wait time, though I'm sure you know why and understand. Also unless you have something more planned for this thread, I kinda feel like its run its course. I'm game to wrap it up when you are, just wanted to make sure all our ducks where in order before we parted ways... for now...]

OC: Yes, I was going to say the same thing. I was basically waiting on you to be sure you were done. As for the wait, no big. Doubles come with the job. i know you are leaving the country so I am going to end this topic here for you so you can do what you need to out in Contract land.

IC:

He wanted more. A reason. A purpose beyond the gluttony of living life, beyond fulfilling the the desires that are a part of his nature.

"Yes well, before we order anything, were there any further instructions you wish to give me? Aside from the ones you previously gave me, perhaps a secret mission of sorts or maybe fetch you a cup of sugar for a cake?"

She frowned, there were a number of things he -could- do but he would simply get himself killed if he tried. He was a newborn. At least to her. He was a candle in the wind and she was afraid he would get snuffed out. Her life was full of terrors, with each gain she was simply more afraid. She feared that these fledgling Ancient hybrids would be revealed, slaughtered. She feared that they would eventually eclipse her in strength and fortitude, an old fear she had even at the height of her power. She was paranoid and the world she lived in only fed into that. His only mission was, for now to 'not die' but Kaen felt that there should be more to it than that. She could lie, she did that more often than she should. "There is something," she lied as her mind raced to stay ahead of the words that came out of her mouth. "Orders," reforming in Sunagakure.

Should she tell him to destroy them -- no, he would get himself killed or ousted.

"You should insinuate yourself with one of them," she recommended. "The Orders have the tools to destroy our kind, the best defense is knowing their offense," she recommended. It was the truth, it was why she worked so closely with that insufferable man. She knew that her time was reaching a terminal point, too many knew her face and her true name. It was only a matter of time before she was evicted and she knew it. That was why she had also found a space among the masked enforcers of the village, a place where her identity would be kept safe until she could forage a new one. Right now she was on the defensive, poking holes in Sunagakure's defenses where she could without being caught or ousted. Their numbers were still too few for her to confidently take on the consolidated tribes of man and she did not know how long it would take before she had a force great enough to subjugate these scattered, festering bits of humanity or how many humans she would have to draw into the Courts before she was satisfied but she knew that it would be many.

The Orders are actually a presently underutilized but important part in coming events. The Oracles are primarily information-based, the Rangers are hunter-based and the Journeymen are battle-smiths basically.

The Rangers, if rebuilt to their former glory would be proficient hunters capable of picking up and following an Ancients scent like a rabid bloodhound. They would know what to do after they defeated an Ancient, how to seal them away for a short time and who to hand them off to. The Journeymen, true Journeymen that is, knew how to bind an Ancient to a blade. Not only could they make weapons that were superior, but they were able to fortify it with the living essence of an Ancient. She remembered the screams of her brethren. How Sousuke greedily took Mikaboshi's power as his own. The threat of her existence being confined like theirs was if she were to die. Then there were the Oracles, a haughty bunch of sociopaths that coveted their books like some would a family. They remembered all of this, almost as well as she did. In fact, in some cases perhaps better because she was never a practitioner. Because she would never betray her own kind.

She was not about to encourage Kaen to hasten his own destruction, but rather to slow or detour their progress. "It would be a shame if some very flammable books caught fire," she reasoned. "Or at the very least, things that chronicled our existence were relegated to your memory before they became ash and soot." That was one option. "Or..." she breathed, "if you were ever to come across an old singing, speaking or screaming blade... that you snapped it in twain." Releasing the unfortunate brother or sister imprisoned within. That was yet another option surely. "Or..." There was a final choice, "you learn to hunt. You eat and you camp with those hunters. You become friends with those hunters. You trust those hunters with your life and when they trust you in turn... you eat well that day."

She stretched across the bed to the nightstand and took the corded phone off of the receiver and brought the cool plastic to her ear. "Hello, room service. Yes. I would like a maid brought up to my room. Yes, the suite. I am afraid we had a little accident in here and the room is utterly atrocious. Also, I have a hankering for something sweet. Mmmm... anything will do. Yes, please send it up right away. Thank you." She set the phone on its cradle and pulled herself up. "I have to go... people to kill, a village to undermine... So much work, thankfully it is also play. Lunch is on its way darling," she made her way towards the door. The unfortunate, recently widowed man inching still towards an exit. A futile effort. She reached down, her fingers wrapped around the tight restraints that bound his hand and lifted him by the bindings pulled his shoulders back, disjointing them in the process. He let out a muffled scream as she tossed him back into the room. "And do not forget... play with your food first. The taste is exquisite." This was not entirely true for every Ancient, but for Kaen this would be the case. The need to fight, to test not only his dominance but his prowess naturally stoked his fires. It would only make him stronger, faster and more durable.

She reached for the door. "Just be sure that you leave before this room is turned over to the hotel again and you will be fine. As for finding me... I am always in Sunagakure and i will find you if you fail to find me."

Kaen had little to no knowledge of these "Orders" or even who to ask about them. She was rather cryptic in her options, the first sounded like a librarian position, the second some sort of weapon smith and the last she grazed over recently, the Hunters. An order dedicated to the extinction of Ancients. That may be fun to play hide n' seek in the order that wants you dead,.. Books were never his forte, but perhaps he should change that? This weapon sounded interesting, but Kaen was never that skilled with weapons. Maybe he will just find this blade for her instead someday. Shiori then ordered him some "room service" A lovely sounding maid with desert, how nice. Alas, there intimate encounter was never meant to last, she had to go. "I have to go... people to kill, a village to undermine... So much work, thankfully it is also play. Lunch is on its way darling," Kaen smiled as she headed towards the front door. She stopped to pick the mangled man and tossed him back into the main room. A heavy thud and a crack rang out as his body crashed into the floor. "And do not forget... play with your food first. The taste is exquisite." Kaen's smile would widen with anticipation. "Gladly..." The man's eyes widened in panic, he must of known this was coming all along... Shiori reached for the door. "Just be sure that you leave before this room is turned over to the hotel again and you will be fine. As for finding me... I am always in Sunagakure and i will find you if you fail to find me." "I look forward to our next encounter, farewell Shiori, Queen of the Ancients..." After the door closed behind her, the room grew ever silent, save the writhing man in the middle. Kaen knelt down next to the man and brushed the hair from in front of his face. "Now now, don't struggle, you'll spoil the meal... That maid will be here soon, then we can get the party starte--" There was a knock at the door. "Well.. that was fast..." Kaen stood and greeted the maid with a lovely smile, almost as lovely as she was. He closed the door behind them, a devilish grin painted across his mug. Kaen would be the only one to leave that room from here on out, he would be gone before any others came to check on them. Fortunately for him, their bodies would be turned to ash after the "process" was completed, leaving almost no trace. Thankfully Kaen was trained in the ways of the Sunan Anbu, he knew what to do to not leave a trail. His belly would be filled with three souls this day, not bad for a newly awakened fledgling, yeah?
