Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

A Mucoromycotinan or fungus that can affect a variety of species including humans. It is rumored that this was the cause of Barynx's madness, not the cannibalism of its own kind. This fungus has been found in several species of arthropod and several mammals, initially believed to be a entomopathogen, or insect-pathogenising fungus due to this until rather recently. We do not know if this change is the result of a mutation or if this disease has always been able to transmit between species, however due to the zoonotic nature of this pathogen and its obvious threat to humans this is a high priority for all Medics. This disease affects the brain of an affected host and causes them to act erratically, even violently. We do not know the method of transmission but we do know that the affected exhibit cannibalistic tenancies when under the influence of this pathogen.Basic InformationSymptoms

There has been no reported human cases of Fury Blight, but the transmission from arthropod to mammal has been concerning. In arthropods we saw the affected start to devour their own kind. They became stronger than their cohorts and would lash out violently at anything that moved. We believe that they were likely suffering from a delirium that we believe to be progressive. We do not know if there is any visible physical changes in these arthropods but their behavior tended to be spastic and whatever rudimentary communication we believed these creatures to possess seemed to be absent (meaning that they were mute).

We have studied several specimens in a laboratory setting and we learned that the erratic behavior takes approximately 72 hours to develop. As for the method of transmission, we have not been able to determine how this disease spreads. Contact with bodily fluids does not seem to affect the creature but we have noted that the disease spreads when an uninfected animal is in close proximity with a dead, infected creature. We have noticed a small plant-like stalk that would erupt from the skull or rather the region closest to the cerebral ganglia that might contain spores but when this stalk erupts varies from a day to nearly two weeks so we have not been able to localize the moment or eruption. Yet it has been consistent that following this, those in immediate proximity to the dead creature start to exhibit these symptoms as well.

Recently we found a few rare cases of this in mammals, particularly dune hares which are known vegetarians.

[legend="Mission: Study the Bunnies"]Of all of the animals found in Wind Country, the Dune Rabbits are perhaps the most tragic. Sole herbivores in a land largely devoid of green plant life, Dune Rabbits manage to survive on a bare minimum of sustenance, which is then immediately utilized in locating further pockets of greenery or reproduction. Likely due to this meager diet, they are significantly less excitable than other leporidae and provide the vast majority of food for carnivorous dune life. Their survival is one of the mysteries of the sands.

However, Dune Rabbits have found a patrician, to some degree, in humanity. Their large ears and short, white to earthen-hued coats have resulted in them becoming a popular pet for Wind Country villagers; easy to keep and utterly docile.

Recently some dune hares have exhibited the symptoms of Fyury Blight and we believe it is one in the same as the disease that effects sandworms. As this assumed mutation is of great concern to us being fellow mammals we would like you to look into this immediately.

  • Rank: Variable

Details: Dune Hares are known vegetarians and rather peaceful animals that are considered to be at the bottom of the food chain. While it is unknown how this disease transmitted from such wildly different creatures as sandworms to dune hares, this is a great concern to all Medics. Study the incident and prevalence in these adorable, mostly safe creatures (they sadly now bite) and get back to us with your findings. When you turn in this mission, give a few guesses and we will let you know if you are right. This may because a future mini event if things go wrong.
    • Note: Yes, they are bunny zombies.

[legend="Mission: Study of the Worm"]These gargantuan annelids are simultaneously one of the most potentially destructive forces in Wind Country (besides man) and also one of its greatest treasures. Conventional thought believes Sand Worms to vary in size quite significantly and though this is due somewhat to age, it is also apparent that this is not always the case. It is presumed that Sand Worms are further divided up into subclasses, depending on location and/or elemental affinity and that this is responsible for size variation. Needless to say, no matter the subclass, Sand Worms are vast; between a 'miniscule' three feet tall, by fifteen feet long, to an impressive fifty feet tall and seven times that in length. Few of these larger individuals have been encountered in modern day, though ancient records state these conquerors of the sand were the cause of much destruction and woe to neophyte colonies and civilizations. The largest reported Sandworm in history was Barynx the Ancient, the sandworm was almost 100 meters in length and just under 34 meters in diameter. While the weight can only be estimated, all that remains of the ancient terror is the exoskeleton.

Sandworms are very large creatures that live an unspecified period of time, but it is hypothesized that they live for as long as 5 centuries. While not intelligent by human standards, Sandworms have a sense of self-preservation and will attack if provoked or if their spawn are threatened. Sandworms are not known to attack villages, travelers or livestock outright but the incidental death of a person or community has been attributed to roaming Sandworms in the past. For the most part, Sandworms are unaware of the present of humans and animals are not considered to be a desired food source for the worm. Sandworms are omnivores, largely subsisting upon microorganisms and nutrients gleaned from the rocks below the surface of the dunes, in a similar fashion to earthworms. They are extremophiles, able to exist for long periods of time on very little sustenance considering their mass. No reports of Sandworms can be found outside of Wind Country, for this reason some researchers hypothesize that there is an energy contained within the desert that the worms consume for vitality. While the energy is intangible and entirely unproven, it is believed to be mystical and the source of the Sandworm's enormous strength.

As mentioned previously, besides the size disparity, Sand Worms have also been known to vary in coloration (from earthen brown to bone white, occasionally with a mottled flesh thought to a result of aforementioned parasitic infection) and also in 'facial' features. Records show individual Sand Worms with large, triangular-shaped mouths and others with a more blunted visage. The Sandworm digestive system consists of 3 parts: Their maw is filled with several circular rows of They possess rows of grinding 'teeth' to wear away the earth, stone and anything of substantial form until it becomes a fine dust. Once the ground-up earth is taken into the worm, their stomach digests the sand and whatever residual nutrients they derive. Their digestive system is unlike that of most biological organisms, they do not use caustic substances such as hydrochloric acid to break down minerals but rather they use a powerful internal sources of heat that crystallizes the earth. The food-source is likely turned into a gaseous form in response to the heat that is then absorbed by the worm. Finally, the remaining crystals are excreted in the wake of the worm. These crystals are known as Carmot, a very valuable natural Sunan resource.

Research on a full-grown sandworm would be impossible due to their relative strength and size as well as the inherent difficulty in originally securing the beast alive. However, an infant sandworm is another matter entirely. Still too much for an average civilian to handle, a trained shinobi should be able to subjugate even an empowered infant with only some difficulty. We have acquired near-newborn sandworms after the Diamond Maelstrom was elimintated. These 'infants are still relatively large in comparison to a human (3 feet in height and fifteen feet in length). we have purposefully infected some of these worms in order to better understand Fury Blight and would like you to do some research on these creatures and document your findings.

  • Rank: Medical Captain and Medic Only. This can be done as a group mission but the IC Mission lead must be at least a Medic if not a Medic Captain.

Details: Study the disease without releasing it to the public. If you think you figured out something, mention it when you hand in your mission IC. If you get it right you should know about it. This will likely have something to do with a future mini event if things go wrong.

This is Considered to be a Self-Modded Solo Mission
Important: Self-modded missions may be done twice in a week, however the second mission done yields half normal rewards. Players may also perform one mission with 2x the word count in order to gain the rewards of having done two missions. This still only yields half rewards for the second mission.

What Rank of Self-Modded Solo Missions can I perform?
  • A user may only perform a mission of their current OOC Rank or lower. This mission is considered to match the Rank of the Medic or MiT who performs the mission.

What are the rewards for Solo Missions?
  • This depends on the Rank your character is OC'ly. But the rewards are as follows:
    • D-Rank: 2,000 Yen
    • C-Rank: 2,500 Yen
    • B-Rank: 3,000 Yen
    • A-Rank: 4,000 Yen
    • S-Rank: 5,000 Yen

What is the required word count for this mission?
  • The word count is dependent on the rank of the mission you undergo. The word count minimums are as follows:
    • E-Rank: 250 Words
    • D-Rank: 300 Words
    • C-Rank: 350 Words
    • B-Rank: 400 Words
    • A-Rank: 450 Words
    • S-Rank: 500 Words

Someone else has already completed this entry, what now?
  • This entry is considered to be a repetitive entry, meaning that when this mission is completed, it will happen again someplace else. That is the problem with diseases and people catching them! So it is POK for multiple players to do this mission separately.

Can this be a group mission?
  • The answer is YES. Just look-up and follow all group mission rules, this can be a modded or a non-modded mission. As a group (modded or otherwise) mission, this can be used to count towards your Captain status.

I have completed my mission, what now?
  • Drop you mission off in character (IC) HERE.

I am not from Sunagakure but I am visiting and I would like to perform a solo mission listed, is that OK?
  • YES! While you are always welcome to join our community (and we do encourage it), leaving people out of the fun goes against the out of character spirit of this community. You can serve as a mercenary or a helpful foreigner and complete these missions as well, just keep it in character and drop your mission off at the office as listed above but re-linked HERE. Just be sure that you have gotten permission from your primary community.
