Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Nozomi walked to the Vespasian Colosseum wielding all of her usually gear; the massive Anti-Material rifle upon her back, the Starbringer sword upon her left hip, a pair of pure black throwing knives in her parka, and a large revolver upon her right hip. Again, she left the massive canon at home as that has nothing to do with a genjutsu lesson; well, neither did any of her other weapons, but she usually remains fully-decked out and ready in the event something stupid were to happen in the village. This is Kumogakure! Nobody dares to do anything stupid this high up in the mountains, right?

Clearing her throat, she moved around towards the center of the ring and simply waited. She let out a groan when she heard a light humming coming from the Starbringer Sword. She unsheathed the blade and noticed the eye had shifted to the ancient device with cryptic writing around it. The disc in the middle began to spin and with a rumble, a massive hole appeared in the center of the colosseum, forcing Nozomi to roll out of the way before a creature of great hatred and hunger stepped out of the newly formed hole in the colosseum and let out a mighty roar.

With a little sigh, Nozomi reached for her headset and simply stated, "Stand-down, it's only Anna Rose. She's hungry again. I will be escorting her for food after this class," she said into the headset.

"Affirmative. She doesn't have a taste for people still," she said as she nodded her head as she spoke into the headset as Anna Rose, the monstrosity let out another roar. "Correct. She doesn't like the consistency. Don't worry, she won't run amok, I'm at the Colosseum," she said into the headset, turning her eyes to look at Anna Rose, raising a finger up to her lips to tell her to keep it down. Instantly, Anna Rose looked at Nozomi and instantly silenced herself.

"Did she just go quiet from you hushing her?" asked the operator.

"As I said, I have things under control. Alright. Nozomi, out," she said as she clicked off her headset and turned to look at the massive creature and pointed at her. "Now isn't the time, Anna Rose! I have to teach people things!"

Anna Rose looked down at the sniper, her teeth being as tall a Nozomi was. She leaned in to get a good look at Nozomi for a moment, huffing out of her nose, blowing Nozomi's hair and parka around, forcing her to hold on to her hat. "Fiiiiiiiiine! Oh mah gawwwww!" she said as she walked over to one of the edges of the arena and parked her behind against the wall, causing the wall to groan from the stress.

Nozomi turned her eyes towards the entrance to the arena and let out a little groan.

The habits of Kumogakure shinobi to subject any and all students they adopt to one form of physical assault or another seemed to be less of a habit and more of a divine edict, something that was encoded into reality as the only way to handle the process of teaching a shinobi a skill. This was Yukiin's first impression upon entering the area and seeing the designed purpose of the locale, flicking his wrist so that one of his weapon scrolls tumbled out and unfurled, the accompanying smoke revealing the floating form of a puppet. The puppet-like thing attached to his back was allowed to deactivate itself, the cycling pumps of blood and chakra concealed under the creation's body halting their process as dividing his attention between two machines was a difficult task to say the least.

The icy creature manipulating the icy weapon approached in a deliberate but cautious fashion, while his eyes stayed on target it was clear that his other senses were gathering what they could from around him without giving that awareness away. If this was another game like that womans' then not getting caught off guard by an iron ball was high on his priority list, he was tired of mending broken bones over training exercises and he was especially tired of it after coming back from that excursion with other wordly plants. A win would be nice for once.

The medic's gaze came with an accompanying attempt at a smile in the same way that a lottery ticket is an attempt at investment.

"You'll have to forgive me for coming here armed, Kumogakure seems to have a tradition of bludgeoning students when they're unprepared or unaware."

He finally arrived and was the boy armed to the teeth in weapons. This didn't bother Nozomi so much as she, too, was armed to the teeth with various implements of war. She uprighted her posture and returned to her usual neutral expression. She kept a close eye on the child as he approached, with the massive dinosaur known as Anna Rose sitting against the wall of the arena just eyeballing Yukiin as he entered. "Don't mind her, she doesn't like the taste of people. But welcome to the class. You are here to learn Genjutsu and the basics behind it. As you know, Genjutsu has 4 principle senses that it affects," she started immediately pointing to her eyes. "There is the sense of sight," she said as she then moved her finger to her left ear, "Sense of hearing," she then stated before pointing to her wrist. "Sense of touch," she said before finally placing her finger upon her temple. "Sense of self. Or simply Visual Genjutsu, Audial Genjutsu, Kinetic Genjutsu, and Will Genjutsu. These can be great tools during missions as screwing with someone's senses can give you a great advantage."

"Like most chakra-driven jutsu, it requires the use of handseals -- unless you are one of those special types who don't require it, such as the singers and the Uchiha," she mentioned, giving the nickname 'singers' to those who take up the Cadency skillset. "However, this can be easily remedied by having an unarmed weapon equipped, which will allow you to perform basic handseals unhindered," she said looking around. She turned her gaze towards Anna Rose for a moment and thought that would be too cruel for someone so hungry. She looked towards Yukiin for a moment and the fact that he's armed at the teeth could mean one of two things: He's just always prepared or things were rough, which prompted him to be armed to the teeth.

"Any of those senses interest you?" she asked, readjusting her cap.

"If she's tried enough to have a preference that isn't exactly reassuring."

Yukiin's weapon stayed in position, machinery moving like the creature it was emulating, looking around without the ability to see, flexing and stretching body parts that had no muscles or such need, as the puppeteer went through a series of deliberate, slow, handseals in his free hand. The question regarding seals was easier to answer that way then to explain bloodline, there was no assurance she knew all of their abilities off the top of her head after all and even if she did, gaps of knowledge were still common. That he could perform handseals, armed or not, was the only relevant thing to note.

"Its a wise shinobi that sharpens all his blades, even his cutlery, so while Genjutsu is something that I abhor, its in my best interests to ensure that even my blind spots have been honed. To that end, I'm here. I know a little something on the topic and Audal Genjutsu work best for me, they follow similar principles as Wind techniques after all..."

He performed another series of slow seals, going through the motions as the wind around his gathering hand picked up, swirling as it was beckoned and catching the tone from the movement of his fingers until the quiet whistling became loud enough to catch the walls of the area and bounce. Once that step had been reached, gathering the waves that bounced back just like the wind was easy, twisting them back into the source until it was a notable chirp of noise. Not a jutsu, per se, but a way to show that he could at least do this much.

As it had been called it was much more easily dismissed, the shinobi ceasing the movement as the noise and its carrying winds scattered in a shrill pop.

"I don't think popping ear drums is the full extent of the jutsu category though."

She didn't have any real preferences for genjutsu as they all have their uses; some better than others anyway. She thought of an audial genjutsu that she wanted to show him how to perform for a moment, having her concentration break from his monologue about 'sharpening a shinobi's tools'. This bit of monologue broke her concentration for a moment, before turning her attention to look towards the child. He looked 14, even if he was just a year younger than she. She finished listening to him talk and then formed the handseals slowly. Good, if one is learning how to use handseals, it's best to do it slowly to begin with. Form is better than speed when you first begin.

There was a wind that kicked up and a loud whirring noise that started to irritate Nozomi and even the massive 40 meter tall creature sitting next to the wall of the arena. This ear-piercing sound was more than enough for the creature to stand up, dig it's feet into the dirt and release a loud, glass-shattering roar to try to cover up the loud, shrill noise coming from Yukiin. Nozomi instinctively covered her ears but the illusion had already taken effect, crying out into her brain. While the noise wasn't really THAT loud, it was enough to cause a bit of irritation within the two. It seemed the two of them were a bit more sensitive to audial genjutsu that normal. Sound was quite the important thing to Nozomi so even the faintest audial illusions would bother her more than most.

She shook her heads and rubbed her ears therapeutically. She knew it wouldn't help her ears, but it made her feel better anyway. "It's a viable strategy though," she said as she began to regain her bearings. "Let me show you one of my favorite audial genjutsu, real quick," she said before flipping through a series of handseals slowly, so Yukiin could see. She didn't put any chakra behind the handseals as this was merely a demonstration of the jutsu. "This jutsu is called," shes aid before clearing her throat. "Autotune. This is designed to ensure people who do actions too quickly to perform them at regular speed. Which is a good way to control a battle. And it also makes your opponent sound like an idiot," she stated before readjusting her cap. After this, she will teach him the basics on using genjutsu and things to look out for if one is to use genjutsu.

"Apologies, I didn't intend to cause harm, if it's caused any lasting damage I will reverse it."

Yukiin spoke curtly and calmly, holding a finger out with the warm green glow of medical chakra to clarify what he meant by reversing it. He found the reaction strange but not excessively alarming as he probably lacked the exact kind of control he needed to curtail the effects he created and may have just slipped on the control aspect. He wasn't exactly a monster of chakra reserves but it didn't take much to cause damage, as a medical shinobi he was intimately familiar with that fact. It unnerved him slightly as he hadn't the goal of harming Kumogakure allies, uncomfortably cracking his knuckles as his pale white eyes watched the response.

Doing things too quickly? That was a strange idea to him, who decided what was 'too quick', if he did then he would make a lot of decisions that everything was too quick but he doubted it worked that way. Did that mean chakra-assisted speeds? Shinobi were almost always using small amounts of the stuff to function to the supernatural capacity that they did, even Taijutsu used chakra to make them more human, so perhaps there was an amount of chakra that prompted the limiter...it sounded odd and probably worked oddly. These were the things that annoyed Yukiin most about Genjutsu, its refusal to operate in a fashion that one can understand and its shortcuts to achieving the impossible.

He wasn't a Uchiha or anything though so maybe there were things about Genjustu that just didn't click innately with him in the same fashion that Ninjutsu was as easy as breathing, sometimes the same thing as breathing. He could follow their lead however and as the teacher went through her signs, Yukiin followed with his own one handed versions, repeating the motions a few times to try and imprint the knowledge and try to grasp the distinctions. Without chakra however, these things seemed the same as him performing Ninjutsu and even with it, kneading the chakra in this way was presumably different even if the handseals were similar.

"It's fine, don't worry about it," she commented. The best way to understand a genjutsu is to have it performed on you anyway. She would have performed her genjutsu upon Yukiin if she knew he was strong enough to take it. However, due to not knowing a single thing about him, she chose the wiser path of not testing the waters. She stood by and waited for him to perform the handseals only to notice him using single-handed handseals. She might have underestimated this guy's potential; being able to form handseals using only a single-hand is a very complex and a very advanced technique. Besides, seeing single-handed handseals was just bizarre to her as she couldn't tell the accuracy of the hand-gestures, considering half of the hand-signs were missing.

It took a few moments to calculate; the white hair, the icy demeanor, the one-handed seals -- now it started to make sense. Once he finished with his handseals, she nodded her head in approval. "Well, it seems handseals aren't going to be a problem for you to learn. So we'll get into some more advanced lessons with Genjutsu," she said as she moved her hand to her left hip and pulled out her Starbringer Sword, brandishing it in her left hand. Her mastery over this blade, even after obtaining it fairly recently, was quite astounding; almost treating the blade as an extension of her own hands.

"If you wish to perform a genjutsu upon someone, there are some things you need to know," she said as she quickly formed together handseals with the blade still in her hands, summoning 3 clones made entirely out of wind. A burst of wind chakra formed around her as the clones finished materializing. "Genjutsu has several weaknesses, one of them being clones. If you don't have the ability to cleave multiple opponents, I'd suggest doing an Area of Effect the moment you see clones on the field. It's difficult to land a genjutsu on the right target if you don't know which one is the real person. Affecting a clone with a Genjutsu does absolutely nothing but waste your time and chakra during a fight," she said.

As she brandished the blade, the massive 40 meter tall monster stood up on it's legs and prepared itself for battle. Nozomi held a hand up to the one named Anna Rose and nodded to her. With a low grumble, the monstrosity sat back down on her rump, watching this lesson. It's stomach rumbling loud enough to be audible. "Another thing you'll have to worry about when using genjutsu is," she said as she formed together a set of handseals before her body completely vanished. A little ANBU jutsu she picked up during her time here in Kumogakure.

"Stealthed opponents are also an extreme detriment when it comes to genjutsu usage. Though, I'm sure an icy person, such as yourself, is capable of dealing with both stealth and clones in a single blow. If you see anyone entering stealth or using clones, you MUST correct that before even attempting a genjutsu, otherwise you will fail," she explained.

"Now, find a way to dispatch my clones and drag me out of stealth and use a LOW rank genjutsu that you know," she instructed. She didn't want her mind to be rent for the sake of a single lesson.

"No, handseals aren't the problem." Yukiin confirmed.

Observing the weapon in use with narrowing vision he found it odd that someone involved in the use of firearms, weapons largely considered out-of-style for a shinobi, would also employ a blade despite the wide gulf of differences between the two types of weaponry. At least with himself, it was understandable as having claws was more of a genetic consequence rather than a deliberate arm he had crafted, in her case this was an intentional choice. As was keeping the company of this strange creature that he didn't much like as his experience had taught him that beasts were often a great deal of trouble to deal with and less prone to making sensible decisions or responding properly to coercion or manipulation. They were a lot like rolling dice, unpredictable and wild to a fault.

Performing her seals with the sword in hand was also a strange thing to him but he supposed most shinobi didn't have the option to do otherwise, although it looked like a bumbling effort of mismashed fingers that couldn't possibly have been comfortable. Looks could be deceiving however, most of his finger movements for Kugutsu were deceptive after all, so he didn't put too much stock in that impression.

He was more interested in the animal and what it would do when it was caught in the blast as there was no request that he exclude it from his attack and there was no way for him to command the quantity of ice he intended to summon with the kind of skill that would sculpt it away from the creature. It had no legal protections as it wasn't a human citizen and it wasn't a shinobi citizen either unless they started allowing animals as citizens and told no one, so it didn't really slow him down or weigh on his conscience any to include it in the blast.

Yukiin recognized the jutsu, or so he thought, as elemental clones and was even familiar with the element in use but it didn't help him much considering his elemental restrictions included the element in play. He'd just have to overpower it, nothing any more tactical than that.

Neither of his hands went through any seal motions as his puppet was pulled closer to his own body, the wind shaprly picking up around him and carrying with it the forcibly chilled water that he extracted, a fine layer of wind and liquid forming around him in a dome that crackled in a split-second freezing.

"The problem for me is only hitting one target."

The shinobi within it swept his free hand forward as the entire construction was blown out with a boom of air from within, erupting like a shattered window to pierce through everything that wasn't himself on the battlefield. If the instructor had not yet figured out what he was, the steel-like icicles that would be punching into everything and redecorating the arena would be a large tip off. People often thought of Hyouton as a weaker element, that was fine, because mistaking his ice for whatever your average shinobi was throwing around was enough of a miscalculation in density, force, and penetrative power to let him punch through and land a devastating blow. Unfortunately the body's instinctive reaction to that sound, of glass shattering, was to shield vitals like the face and neck, but it couldn't be a perfect technique.

Since it didn't matter if he could see her or not, hiding wasn't an effective way to prevent him from landing his blow and once there were shards stuck in someone's skin it became a lot easier to find the target. Yukiin used the shower of ice as a covering sound while his seal hand went through the motions from earlier, but at his actual seal speed as there was no need for him to be coy with his abilities. The blast of sound repeated itself, the same Gong technique from earlier, as the caster searched the battlefield for anything that hadn't 'popped' and was human to target the Genjutsu towards and focus the sound into. He couldn't be certain that they would pop as the ability of the instructor was an unknown value as was the strength of their replications but these were the kind of risks one took in planning. Only once had that gone poorly enough to have him thrown through a house so it was probable that wouldn't happen again.

He briefly considered that it was going to be a mess to clean up, healthwise, but when a superior gives an instruction? Well, he'd be a very poor shinobi not to follow it, as instructed....he had not been instructed to take it easy or to play games so the consequences of such were not his to be concerned with...unless that animal got aggressive about it and tried to eat him but self-defense and removing a beast from Kumogakure was a winning ticket anyways.

It doesn't seem Yukiin understands the idea of restraint. Creating a storm of razor-sharp icicles around him to cut everything it comes into contact into shreds was something she would admire for an actual battle, but for something simple as instruction on how to properly use a jutsu felt like excessive force to Nozomi. With a quick flurry of handseals, Nozomi released an area of intensified sunbeams around the dome of ice before summoning a beam of sunlight down, clashing into the dome of subzero razors. The massive beam of light only nullified the ice damage dealt towards here while it completely decimated the clones around her. At this time, Anna Rose noticed the wall of ice headed her way and just stands there, letting out a terrible roar as the ice enveloped her. It wasn't nearly enough to put the beast down; on the contrary, it laughed at the boy's efforts. What didn't kill her only made her stronger.

It was then that Nozomi heard a strange gong-like noise in her ears. She knows this genjutsu. At least this one wasn't something that would actually harm her much. The sound punched through her skull, growing louder and louder and more and more annoying by the moment. She shook her head and formed together some handseals to quickly cancel the genjutsu. After reeling from the jutsu, she turned her eyes towards Yukiin for a moment, a look of disappointment in her eyes. "That's how you target down people with clones using Genjutsu. You did that well. However, that creature," she said as she pointed towards the massive dinosaur for a moment, "wasn't a combatant," she finished, readjusting her cap and hair in the process.

"Unless you want people to see you as a monster, I would suggest never attacking non-combatants. You are dismissed," she said sternly to Yukiin, turning her eyes to Anna Rose for a moment before looking at the hole that she popped out of. "I'll heat up the next cow you hunt a little bit later today," The creature let out a loud huff before diving back into the hole it came from, sealing it and returning it to it's original state. She turned her attention back towards Yukiin, still quite disappointed with his lack of discretion. She would give a one-liner as she walked passed, but someone like him didn't seem to be worth her time. With that, she simply walked out of the arena.

Wasn't a combatant but was on a battlefield....a strange idea. Even the medics such as himself were combatants, they were expected to be able to fight and defend themselves after all, so involving other parties in a conflict made them, well, part of it. Whether or not the creature struck out at him first it was capable of harm, was there, and had apparently had a taste of human flesh before so considering it anything but a threat would be unwise. It wouldn't die from it, it certainly didn't, and without the restraint of the law there wasn't much telling Yukiin that he had to regard the creature in a favorably fashion. It was the way of things, he wore the law as his yoke and complied with all of its demands but to expect anything else from him? Excessive. If they considered him a monster well...soon they would be correct in a very literal sense.

That transformation process was coming along after all.

He shrugged and took his own leave, whistling a tune as he made his way onto the greener pastures of his life more confident in his abilities with this jutsu type. Though the training largely seemed to be a confirmation that he the right idea and just lacked the finer control over it that would become a critical part of the application, something he could refine in his own time until it became yet another tool to employ. If he could manage to learn and perform surgery then he was certain that a simple matter of chakra control wouldn't escape him...well, not for long as it was, currently, escaping him.

That was assuming he got the free time, this whole 'new wife' business was shaping up to occupy a much larger portion of his life than anticipated and they hadn't even gone through with the arrangement yet...quite the chore.
