Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Shiryu kept his pace, letting the rain pitter patter against his face willingly. A terrible haze had blanketed the entirety of Kumogakure today, although it was not too much of a surprise. Thunder had played out across the village since the morning, and dark clouds had been gathering overhead for a while now. That was why he had prepared a cloak for himself for the day, and why right now, he was feeling pretty warm despite the rain pouring down.

Meanwhile, denizens of the Cronopolis was rushing back and forth, clearing up their wares or simply seeking shelter. Some bumped into him during their hurry, although none cared enough to acknowledge it in any way.

Shikyu continued on his path, and soon the streets were mostly clear of people. The scene had now changed to what one may even call post-apocalyptic. Now that there was not a single person in sight, the worn down, teariness of the Cronopolis had beame even more apparent. The street was littered with trash and rubble, and above Shikyu many of the signage were either cracked or were at odd angles, oftentimes both.

Suddenly, Shikyu felt something against his back, and thus stopped walking. It felt pointy... like a knife.

Here we go...

"Gimme ever'thin' ya got." Came a burly voice, which without even looking, Shikyu assumed was of some young adult whom truly, on the inside, was far more fearful than would be let on, at least initially. A lot of bullies in this place relied on perceived superiority to get by, and thus will reliquinshed if suitably challenged. "Everythin', or I'ma stab ya!"

Silently, Shikyu manipulated his hands to form chakra strings. Invisible to the naked eye, they slowly slithered their way around his cloak towards the knife...

"Want to try, my friend?" Shikyu challenged the thug mockingly, giving him a chance to back away. Let see if the thug has...

Before Shikyu could finish his thoughts, he could feel the knife trying to move further into him. Despite any force exerted on the knife however, the knife was not actually moving any further than its current position.

Smiling, Shikyu turned around to face his aggressor and immediately felt satisfied at seeing the surprised face on the thug. Then, as the thug's eyes were drawn towards Shikyu's face and realization dawned on the thug, Shikyu smiled even brighter. Right about then was when the thug realized that he was dealing with a Shinobi.

Manipulating his chakra strings, Shikyu forced the knife out of the thug's hands without even touching it directly. The knife rose upwards, turned around, and pointed itself directly at the thug's face.

"Let's do this again. Want to try, my friend?" Almost immediately after Shikyu finished his sentence, the thug turned tail and ran.

Shikyu's smile faded as he sighed outwardly. He let go of his chakra strings, allowing the knife to fall on the ground with a clatter that was mostly lost amongst the sound of the rain.

Shikyu turned back towards the direction he was walking in, and continued on his path - still not really knowing where it was leading.

About right now would be good, if someone wanted to help him get out of here effectively...

Cronopolis. The dark underbelly of the village's criminal world and the home for the poor and poverty. Yuu doesn't like to return here after what happened a few weeks ago, yet with some of the districts were on high alert for any more terrorist attacks, he knew he can't sit still and wait for that man and his group to attack his loved ones again. Knowing this, he volunteered to patrol around the village just to prepare himself for any future attacks not only from that man but also from other bandits and Missing-Nin criminals.

So here he is, walking down the semi-empty streets and looking around for any signs of threat and danger while wearing his hooded blue raincoat over his usual outfit. He was hoping to find an explosion or someone who tries to kidnap others, but he didn't expect to see a muscle-build man running towards his direction. Realizing what he is about to do, Yuu reaches towards his sword that was stored on his hip sheath, only for him to bump the runaway man, causing both of them to fall on the wet concrete floor.

"Move it, you brat! Can you see I'm getting away from that monster?!" The man shouted as he tries to get up from the ground. However, his anger is slowly replaced in horror as he sees the Chuunin's raincoat hood fell down as he gets up, revealing his whole face towards him. "T-T-The Blue Demon! G-Get away from me! I already had enough monsters to mess with!"

But just as he tries to run away again, he notices that both of his legs are unable to move, causing him to fall on the floor as Yuu approaches him with a glare. "You know, running away without an apology is a very rude way to respect any shinobi." He then reveals his right arm away from his raincoat sleeves, revealing that he was holding several wires that were wrapped around the man's legs. "Speaking of which, what kind of "monster" caused you to run away in the first place?"

However, upon seeing the wires, the man screams in horror and shouts, "Y-You can use strings, too?! No, please get away from me! I don't want to die with those things!"

Upon seeing how hysterical this man has become, Yuu became a bit conflicted about this. He wants to ask more questions, but he doesn't want to traumatize him any longer. Even if he tries to correct the man, he is still trying to back away and keeps calling him a monster. Realizing that he's unable to reason with him, he just releases the wires' grip on the man's legs before he runs away, screaming and crying aloud as Yuu watches him in confusion.

"Okay... That's completely weird. I know I'm a bit vicious, but not that much." He was aware of his reputation for defeating some bandits and criminals through dark means, but he never expects a guy like him would be completely horrified just by seeing his wires. However, he wonders why he ran away before he bumps into him. Did he encounter someone who he accidentally provoked for some reason? Seeing he can't tell why or how he just turns around and continues his patrol.

But as he walks down the streets, he notices a red-haired teen wearing a jacket and an armlet on his right arm wanders around the streets. He would have ignored him, but the Chuunin stops and notices something from that young man.

"Hey, you!" He called out to the teen as he slowly approaches him. "Sorry about that, but do you have a minute? Don't worry, we can talk under in ramen stand around here. If I can find one though..."

Yeah, he really doesn't like Cronopolis's atmosphere one bit.

Shikyu turned around to face the person who called out to him, a teenager much like himself - although clearly younger. As the stranger slowly approached Shikyu, the stranger invited him to talk. For a second, Shikyu was cautious, but after seeing the forehead protector wrapped around the teenager's torso, he became a lot more relaxed. So far, he had yet to had reason to suspect Shinobi of any un-toward motives. He also had yet to have a reason to not assume a person wearing a headband protector is not a Shinobi, either.

When the teenager finally arrived directly in front of Shikyu, he realized that the teenager was quite the bit shorter than he was. Shikyu was at least 30cm (12"-ish) taller than the teenager, and that gave him a bit more sense of security... not that it was supposed to matter.

"Greetings, stranger. Yes, I have a minute to talk. I am trying to find my way out of the Cronopolis, but it is not an urgent matter. Shall we find a ramen stand around here then?" Shikyu addressed the stranger. If the stranger was happy to stay exactly where they were to talk, Shikyu would oblige. If instead they were to go find a ramen stand, or anywhere else to talk, Shikyu was also more than happy to oblige.

As he thought, this young man is wearing a Kumogakure forehead protector, a sign that he's one of the shinobi of this village. While he can't tell if he's either a Genin or a Chuunin, he does find it odd that he's even in Cronopolis in the first place. Regardless, he is relieved to see a fellow shinobi after a day of patrolling. "I see. Then if you like, I can show you around some parts of the village after we find ramen stand nearby."

Just as he escorts the young man around the rainy slums, he begins to wonder about him and his skills as a shinobi. From what he knows so far, he looks a bit older and taller than him. He would have called him his superior or "senpai" if he even knows what rank he's in. Upon checking him with his Rinnegan, he can sense a bit of chakra around the young man, a sign that he's a bit stronger than he looks to be. However, the bigger question is his experience, like how long he was a shinobi or what kind of jutsu and fighting style he's specialized in. Regardless, he can see this as an interesting lad.

After a few seconds of walking in silence, Yuu decides to break the ice and learn more about this shinobi. Besides, if he tries to talk to this young man, he might able to bond with him as a friend. "By the way, I never saw you in Kumogakure before. Are you a new shinobi?"

Shikyu followed Yuu, meandering their way through the Cronopolis. He had also accepted Yuu's offer to show him around the village, after they would be able to escape the Cronopolis, after all, as Shikyu communicated to Yuu: "Yes please, I think it would greatly benefit me from learning how to navigate the village." Of course, given Shikyu's... newness to certain etiquettes, it was not immediately apparent to him to elaborate on it any further, and for a while the two Shinobi had walked side by side in silence. That, was until Yuu broke the ice with a question that Shikyu had now become very accustomed to answering.

Realizing his rudeness, Shikyu turned towards Yuu and offered a smile, before shifting his gaze back on the route to focus on dodging all the obstacles on the way. "It's... a long story, but the gist of it is I am not sure if I am new or old to Kumogakure... let's just say I was previously a Shinobi, who suffered trauma and lost all my memories."

Shikyu held up his arms, forcing his cloak to spread a bit, as he looked from one arm, to his body, to the other arm. "And... apparently, my body may be an amalgamation of multiple bodies. I had to receive emergency transplants, and I am not sure which part of my body is the real me, and which part might belong to someone else." He lowered his arms and turned to Yuu. "That, is also why I have been training hard recently, trying to regain any skills I may have previously had. What about you? What rank of Shinobi are you? I am a Chuunin, by the way. What type of techniques do you specialize in? I heard Shinobi tend to specialize in different skills, techniques, capacities, and so on, right?"

Yuu is surprised at the young man's background as well as how he explained it to him. It's even more shocking when he sees what happened to his body. Sure, his reasons to train in order to regain what he lost was commendable, but he can't help but worry about his wellbeing. While he is using a cloned version of his own original body, it's not very traumatizing in his perspective as he saw it as a bit of sacrifice to help Yuri bring his memories back. But as for this young man, his body is an amalgamation of multiple bodies and just living to this fate makes him sympathize to his current situation. While he wants to talk more about this, he decides not to dwell on it too much since it might be insensitive of him to do so.

"I'm also a Chuunin. Well, one of the youngest Chuunin in this generation, though. I'm very skilled with a sword and rely a lot on Lightning and Storm Ninjutsu, though I am learning and mastering other elements even to this day." While parts of his explanation were a bit exaggerated, there are some forms of truth to it such as his constant training with his Ninjutsu and his swordsmanship skills. "Although, I didn't spend a lot of time training and taking missions. Sometimes, I teach some classes at the village's academy as well as taking gate duties and spending time with my family and friends just to make sure not to overwhelm myself with my duties as a shinobi."

"That's... that's indeed impressive." Shikyu offered, in response to Yuu's announcement that Yuu was one of the youngest Chuunin in this generation. Shikyu himself was not very old, but Yuu was clearly younger than he was. So if Shikyu was 15, then Yuu would be... 14? Maybe 13? Either way, that was indeed truly impressive. To be frank, Shikyu's Chuunin assignment was not a sure thing - there was debate as to whether he should be a Genin, or maybe even an Academy Student. At the end of the day however, once his skills was tested, the Mednins that supervised him had deemed his skill level to be at Chuunin rank. The only caveat to him receiving the rank, was that he would find out more about himself and see for himself if it was truly suitable. If he found himself to be lacking, the request was that he would seek out his supervisor to request any necessary changes.

To date however, he seemed to have been able to discover quite a bit about himself and so far had been able to keep up with his responsibilities. Much like Yuu, he had also been asked to teach the new generation of Shinobi at the academy, although he himself never had to do any sort of guard duty. Although "Hey... so you just mentioned that you are proficient with the sword, and rely on Lightning Ninjutsu... that's really cool! One of the first thing they discovered about me was that I for some reason innately knew how to perform Taijutsu with my sword..." With that, Shikyu removed his overly-bulky cloak, revealing his sword sheathed behind his back. Shikyu removed it and held it in both his hands, showing it off to Yuu.
FTFgtHi.png

"Pretty cool eh!" Shikyu exclaimed, clearly excited about his weapon. It was actually pretty large, almost the length of Shikyu's body. Yet, it was also pretty flat - perhaps the reason why it was not really noticeable with Shikyu's massive cloak covering it. With one hand under the blade of the sword, Shikyu used the other and gripped the handle - and immediately, the sword began to glow. "I was given this when they discovered my capacities... although soon after, it turned out I only knew how to use exactly one specific Taijutsu... what was more impressive I think is that I found I have significant affinity to Lightning. I was told by Monzaemon Sendatsu that at this stage of my physiological development, I should have an affinity to another element as well... but when we tested it with chakra paper, nothing else turned up except for Lightning. Kinda odd..."

Shikyu paused as he glanced to the side a bit, then back at Yuu. "You said that you had proficiency with Storm Ninjutsu too, right? Does that mean that you also have affinity with... Water as an element of your Chakra as well?"

The Chuunin's eyes widened when he saw the large glowing blade in front of him. Comparing to his usual weapons, it's size made him a bit overwhelmed to the point that he won't able to carry it due to its weight. "Huh, that is odd. My sword seems to be the same as yours." He then took out his Newborn Blade from his sheath located on his hip and showed it to Shikyu. "Yet for several years, I never able to bring out its full potential until that day. Though that's a long story for another time." It might be for the best since he was still reeling after that Phantom incident during his mission with Yuri.

Yuu then nodded at Shikyu's next question. "Yeah. It took me about a year to master Water, but my training with it made a lot easier thanks to my friend's advice and some new abilities I got along the way. I also learned Fire, which I also learned some Advanced Elements related to it such as Magnetic and Plasma."

Shikyu's eyes widened at the mention of so many advanced elemental affinities. "Wow... the more I hear about ya, the more you seem like someone truly impressive. I find it hard enough to master just one element, and yet here you are with... six elements? Lightning, water, fire, storm, magnetic, and... plasma was it?" Shikyu pondered for a moment. "If... I want to do the same, can you teach me? Or is it something that's a bit more difficult than is said?"

Yuu hummed and scratched his chin as he wondered about Shikyu's question. "That's a bit of a trick question for me. As I said, I had some help when I was mastering these advanced elements. Water was the easiest element I learned due to its relation towards the Lightning element but as for the Fire element, it's a bit difficult since its flames were a bit dangerous for me to wield. And trust me, I had to go to the hospital several times after training until I get the hang of controlling it."

He then shivered at that memory as he remembered how he has to run into the hospital, trying to avoid his sister from distracting her medical studies because of his recklessness over his attempts to master the Fire element. He even remembered how his parents chastised him about this when she found out and told on him. Regardless, that was a small price to pay to master it and thankfully, his training paid off in the end as he also slowly developed his advanced elements related to it.

"But in any case, I'm just happy with the results. Every mistake I've made is like a mark of progress. I have to learn from them to get better." He then stared at his hand, which he imagined as scars that he obtained over the years as a shinobi. It was a bit appropriate since he endured several harsh training sessions and difficult missions as well as the changes within him physically and mentally.

Just as the young man asked him if he could teach him about advanced elements, Yuu's eyes widen at that request. "U-Umm... sure. But I have to warn you, you need a bit of patience if you want to master these elements. Other than my friend aiding me with the training, most of my jutsu training is self-taught and I had to study several times at the library just to learn more about them."

The library eh... might be a good spot to head to, then, for some individual self-reflection, study, and discovery. By now, the pair had escaped the Cronopolis, and Shikyu was eager to find out exactly what could be done. He had never felt any true emptiness or loss since his awakening, and subsequent realization that he had forgotten his past life... or lives, potentially. However, he had always been curious of what he could do, something that Sendatsu had told him was pretty unique. Many others who had went through what he went through simply wanted to move onwards with their lives, or feared finding out about their past.

Shikyu turned towards Yuu.

"Thank you, kind friend for helping me find my way out. If you do not mind, I must request a raincheck on the ramen. I find that I am, right now, inclined towards heading to the Bibliotheca Conscientiae in search of knowledge. If you do not mind, I will want to request your aid in the future in perhaps mentoring me, depending on what I find out at the Bibliotheca Conscientiae. Once again, thank you for your help." Shikyu bowed politely, awaiting Yuu’s response, before he could leave.

Yuu sighed as he saw many residents running through the rain to get to their destinations or to try and get back home, something that he didn't see in Cronopolis. As much as he wanted to continue his patrol there, he did need a break after the storm rolled in. And while he was a bit disappointed that the amnesiac Chuunin requested a raincheck regarding their ramen hangout, he did understand the reason behind it as he also went through the same ordeal with Yuri years ago. He wanted to learn more about jutsus and his past, so there was no way he could stop him over ramen.

Upon he heard his reasoning, Yuu gave a big grin and said, "No problem. I'm just happy you managed to find something that may help you in the near future. I wish you luck and be careful out there." But just before he could leave the Chuunin, he quickly stopped as he realized something and turned back around to face him. "By the way, I didn't catch your name. If you don't have one yet, I can just give you one. And just so we get the same page, I should give mine as well."

He then offered his hand to the amnesiac Chuunin for a handshake. "I'm Kashino Yuu, but you can just call me "Yuu" with no formalities. I hope we can meet again very soon!" It might be a bit rude if he gave this advice to a stranger he barely knew, but to him, he could see him not only as an ally in his future missions but a good friend who he might help him regarding his past soon.

Ah yes, how rude of Shikyu. "Apologies, I am still trying to get all the correct etiquette sorted. This really should have been the first thing I do, introduce myself." Shikyu reached his hand out and returned Yuu's handshake, introducing himself in the meantime. "The name I chose for myself is Monzaemon Marushijūkyū. However, I am happy to be referred to as Shikyu. It is a nickname that I gave myself based on the other patients' recommendations."

With that, Shikyu released his grip of Yuu's hand. "It has been a pleasure to meet you. I look forward to meeting you again." With that, Shikyu bidded Yuu adieu, and left.

Apologies for the raincheck on the ramen. I just felt so much has happened to Yuu and Shikyu during this time that it was gonna be hard for me to RP Shikyu. Next time we meet, Yuu is a sennin and Shikyu is, well, different. :p

"Same here. See you soon, Shikyu."

It was a bit disappointing for him to let him leave just before he can ask more about how he found himself in Cloud. But again, he didn't want to butt in his problems regarding his memories and he might want to go alone to the library. So all he could do was to wave his hand goodbye as he saw Shikyu left the streets.

"Huh, other than his amnesia, he is an interesting guy. I wonder if we can meet again in a mission or so..." But as he wondered about that possibility, he looked at the entrance of Cronopolis and remembered about that man he ran into before meeting Shikyu. He looked like he was scared of someone before he even caught him since he mentioned he was getting away from a "monster". After that, he encountered Shikyu and helped him out of Cronopolis. What if...

"Oh, snap out of it, Kashino! I'm starting to think like Yuri again. I need to stop judging anyone based on his history." He knew that despite his eccentricities, he knew he was a good Chuunin. He just hoped the next time he met Shikyu again, he might able to learn more about his past that he discovered before he can judge him.

For now, he walked through the streets towards his destination back home where his family and friend were waiting back home. After all of that, he did need a good long rest and a delicious warm meal waiting for him.
