The shimmer of the hot desert sand made everything in front of the young boy look hazy and watery. Almost like a dream, it was sometimes hard for Takeyashi to convince himself that the desert mirages weren't real. He pulled on the tan cloth he wore around his neck, unraveling it from his shoulders and neck. Quickly tying it with practiced hands, the young boy used the cloth to cover the top of his head and face before wrapping the remaining material around his neck for additional protection. He wanted to keep this heat from melting his brain, and this cloth was the best way to do so. He wasn't as worried about getting burned as he was about getting dehydrated; after all, his skin was more than dark enough to handle the rays of the sun. His six arms hung on either side of him, with no effort made to conceal them. On his back he carried a small bag, holding essentials such as clothes, tools, and other supplies he may need on his short excursion. He was looking for a respite, a chance to enjoy himself away from the constant thrumming of the drums of war. Maybe he'd get the chance to sit down somewhere late at night, and watch the stars while he wrote some haiku. It would be a rather relaxing experience, indeed.
