Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Aria sighed deeply as she rested idly in her wheelchair with an elbow propped on the arm rest as she held her own head in her palm. Today she had been brought out of the hospital once again however this time with permission only to be brought to the stands of Kitsune park to watch Keniwa and Mitsuha have a stare down with each other while she was forced to watch. The guards at the gate had quickly shut down the girl's attempts to join the battle because of her obviously unwell state. Aria had become painfully skinny in the last few weeks her torso seemingly withering leaving her face gaunt as a result of the first few experimental procedures doctors had tried with her but each had just left her frailer and sicker until finally she had been referred to a specialist, Someone called Keiji who everyone held a lot of respect for not that Aria knew why but it did leave her in this sickly state much to the girl's annoyance as the only thing that hadn't bee affected was her mind which still burned brightly for battle. Eyes drifting up and down the stands Aria could see a decent amount of observers here to watch what the civvies called ninja magic but not anyone Aria cared to talk to was there so she just sat and hoped the fight would be interesting at least.

Take was sitting right behind her. No matter how down Aria felt in these times past her coma-like state at the Byoin… he swore he’d be by her side. He’d support her, even if she didn’t want any of it. It was a silent decision of his, one that he hadn’t disclosed with her just yet… for it felt like if he did so, then his entire life would change. He needed time… nay, he needed courage.

He could tell what she desired even without meeting her face. Her leaning on her arm rest like that made it painfully obvious to the swordsman – Aria was a girl whose blood boiled for battle at all times, a true behemoth of a shinobi. Being unable to let loose of her strength and skills in this injured state must’ve been a living hell to her.

That was why he rose up on his feet, glaring down towards the combatants of today – Keniwa and Mitsuha. Aria would’ve wanted to fight them both at the same time, if she got the chance… so without warning, Take rested a hand atop her head and made his presence known to her. He wanted to comfort her… in any way he could. “I’ll fight the winner, Aria… in your stead,” he promised wholeheartedly. Upon standing next to her, his Cursed Seal – or rather, the flame-patterned birth mark crossing his face and neck – began glowing like lava and rocking around his flesh.

“Then you can take over my battles after your absolute, certain recovery. That’s a promise.”

Ishi looked at the others that were here, it seemed that a few of them already had the opinion to come and watch the fight, that was a rather interesting take on the situation but he wondered if it was just people wanting to get experience. As he moved to where they were, he listened to the words being spoken by the others who seemed to want to get involved in the fight, it seemed that he had just walked in as the fight was starting, an interesting situation to be in right now as he would get to watch both of them perform fully.

"Well looks like I am not late, mind if I come in and watch as well, seems that they are just getting started, let's see what this ends up looking like."

Ishi moved in and stood around the others, as he allowed himself to grab a front row seat a couple away from and put his feet up on the edge, the mask never moving as he allowed his eyes to focus on the two combatants, and of course, he knew full well that Keni would have something to prove since their last encounter, he wanted to know what the situation would look like and how the fight would go. It seemed neither of the two that were fighting was going to be holding back, and he understood that. After all, it was all about pushing yourself to make sure you achieve the very best out of yourself and the other person. That is what learning would all be about.

'Keniwa certainly carries himself with the confidence of someone who could handle themselves' thought Hayashi as he shuffled into the stands. Although he'd never actually seen Keni fight before (let alone any fights at all since the academy) he had heard whisperings of his fights and he seemed to be... quite good at it? Hayashi wasn't totally convinced and could still only really see Keniwa as the young boy from years ago who had left to train at the academy. The roaring crowd as the two combatants appeared made him a bit uncomfortable, it filled him with a sense of bubbling anxiety. 'Why couldn't they have a less violent initiation?! Like a best of three noughts and crosses?!' he wished. As the fight began he clasped his hands over his eyes, only able to see glimpses of the action from in-between his fingers, but it was more than enough for him and he accidentally let slip an astonished "Holy crap"

Aki leaned back a bit in her seat and smiled. "What a good day for an arena match..." Sure, the combatants looked interesting, the weather was nice and everything, but most of all, the timing lined up just right with her older brother Sanjiro's recovery- when she'd told him this was happening, she knew for a fact that he was just well enough to come see it with her, as well as extremely bored of staying around the house all day. He was seated next to her, clad in a wide-brimmed hat and smiling just as wide as she was (still with a heavily bandaged left side).

She watched the match begin through the roaring crowd, the fighters being two younger shinobi, one graceful, one headstrong. The first created an armored shell of some kind, and immediately several copies of her handiwork appeared beside her; her opponent was quick to respond with a Devastating Aura technique to engulf both her and her clones (and much of the arena below too). That was a pretty strong jutsu... she wouldn't have immediately expected someone his age to have mastered it, although she supposed both ninja did look tough for their age. It really was nice to watch the next generation improve...

...and speaking of the next generation, a boy in the row in front of them suddenly stood from his chair and began speaking to the girl in the next row with conviction, a curse-mark-looking-thing spreading across his skin as he did so. Aki raised an eyebrow, but turned her attention back to the match below- that was, until she noticed her brother craning his neck to see around the kid, who had stood up directly in front of him. The Chuunin sighed; he'd never speak up for himself, he was too polite. "Hey, 'scuse me..." she called to the younger ninja. "Hate to interrupt, but could you two please continue your conversation sitting down?" She gestured to her bandaged brother, who shot her a look but said nothing. "We're having trouble seeing the match."

Kiriyomi rushes into the stadium, running late today. He has been busy practicing his new jutsu that he has been able to recently acquire, but he has to do them privately so that nobody runs the risk of being harmed by them. Being a Dark Sage, he has to take great care to use his skills carefully to protect the village rather than harm it. But, after his conversation with Takeshi-sama, he now knows that it is how the techniques are used that matters. Jutsu are not inherently good or bad; it is all dependent upon the person wielding them. Kiri decided when he first began down the path of a shinobi that he would take great care to protect his loved ones, and that included the village as a whole.

As he reaches the stands, Kiri looks around for anyone he knows and his eyes land on Aria sitting in a wheelchair. Rushing over to her, he places a hand on her shoulder and smiles. "Hi Aria-chan! It's good to see you out of the Byoin again, hopefully with permission this time. Are you excited to watch Mitsuha and Keniwa fight today? Perhaps it'll give you some insight into their fighting styles, so that when you get better, you can beat the both of them at the same time!" Kiri winks at the Senju girl before taking a seat beside her as the fight quickly begins. The first bout goes by quickly, with Keniwa unable to land a hit on Mitsuha and her causing his brother to bleed. Kiri clenches his teeth, unsure of how the battle is going to go. His own experience fighting Keni was still a sore subject, one that he greatly regrets. But they have put that behind them and moved on.

As the two fighters prepare another barrage of attacks against one another, Kiri recognizes that Mitsuha is using a Genjutsu against her opponent and smiles. She was smart to use such a technique! That was Keniwa's weakness. She also had a cute little turtle that she had summoned to aid her as well, which turned out to be beneficial this round because Keni landed a few good hits on her as well. "Good job Mitsuha! Keep it up! Don't let your guard down Keniwa! I believe in you!"

Aria almost wanted to grind her teeth in frustration as the fight began to warm up but a hand on her head cause the girl to jerk out of her thoughts of battle and look up at the smiling face of Take as he spoke about fighting on her behalf as his tattoos took on a fire like appearance and began to move in an agitated manner as if showing how ready Take was to fight causing the Senju girl to smile good naturedly at him even as her golden hued chakra began to weakly leak natural chakra in the air almost in an instinctual response to keep Aria safe from the more corrupted chakra within Take. "I'll try not to keep you waiting too long then." Aria spoke simply and despite her withered state her eyes remaining unbowed and broken by her body and right now they burned with an intense stare and hunger for future battles she may have with Take as she enjoyed this new warrior spirit the boy has seemingly cultivated after the trails and tribulations they had undergone. Unfortunately the moment was ruined by a voice behind them shouting for Take to sit back down causing the girl to chuckle as her eyes drifted back to the battlefield as Mitsuha wounded Keni with her bones.

It wasn't long before Kiri made his appearance and he seemed much better than the boy she had found crying in the woods but that only went for the boy as Aria had steadily been getting worse and could no longer go only jaunts around the village. Infact she lacked the strength to walk on her own terms anymore much to her frustration. Kiri words however did get Aria to refocus on the fight as he made a good point but the wink from said boy passed straight over Aria's head as her attention focused more on the appearance of Crush on the battlefield.
"Hi Kiri. You gonna have to ask Keni if I have permission as he brought me here. The fight is good so far but that sparking moment where they truly unleash on each other hasn't come yet. "

… Keniwa’s stance. So fundamentally different from Take’s – the swordsman was trained to go for blood, but Keniwa’s was so much more reserved and… defensive. Limbs kept close together, legs widened, and surging chakra rising up around him… was that sound crackling thunder?

Mitsuha’s form, too… bones protruded from all over her body, akin to her techniques used at the poor log at the Academy where they met. She had now covered herself in a smooth armor of bones, appearing like an angel of death on the battlefield. Hopefully, she wasn’t out to kill Keniwa… but a certain shock hit him. Something made his feet tremble, although he was a mere spectator… one of them had done something to spread this sensation across the battlefield. Mitsuha responded by running in with a flurry of attacks, showcasing how she was able to model the bones digging out from her own arms to aid in her combat. First polearms slamming at Keniwa, who was capable of evading most attacks and brute his way through Mitsuha’s defenses with sheer power-

But some had managed to injure the unarmed combatant! Mitsuha’s clones weren’t able to slow Keniwa down either, but how would her bone armor fare against any direct hits from Keniwa’s unforgivable punch-

“!!!” Take’s body shot up, his back straightening and his face widening in horror at the sudden ‘Hey, scuse me…’ told to him from behind. Listening to the voice, he did as told before the Chūnin had even finished their sentence-

And sat back down, back straighter than a bullet. His face sweating, burying it in his hands in embarrassment. Not in front of Aria… not in front of Aria… his Cursed Seal quickly retracted back into the faint, flamey mark that Asuka tolerated.

Kiriyomi had joined them, in high spirits seeing Aria out of the Byoin now. While Aria hadn’t even paid attention to the wink… Take grabbed the armrest of hers much tighter than before, widened eyes staring through Kiriyomi for one reason or another. Take didn’t say a word, but for a brief moment, his own hostile aura had exploded… and died out just as quickly, showing that his face was red as a tomato.

“… Gengetsu no Mai.”

Take recognized that Taijutsu performed by Keniwa, the pattern and its arcing characteristic. Keniwa had snapped and went fully on the offensive, making Mitsuha’s clones disappear like waving away dust in the wind. It looked like Mitsuha was in trouble, but she also got another hit through Keniwa that looked like it hurt. That must’ve been a vital spot…

"D-D-D-D-D... D-DO YOUR BEST, M-MITSUHA! K-K-KENIWA, YOU T-TOO!!!"

Ishi continued to watch the fight, as he was looking around at those joining to watch the fight, he couldn't help but frown under his mask, it seemed that Keniwa was always pushing himself, even when it may not be needed, sometimes doing the fancy things would not pay off but it seemed that Mitsuha was holding her own as the fighting continued, he didn't understand this generation of new kids, but the potential was clear for all of them, and even he had to admit that right now the situation as it stood they should both be proud of the effort and pure determination that they were putting into this fight.

Listening to the others cheering on that had turned up for this fight, he allowed himself a little bit of time to consider how he held up at that young age, though honestly he couldn't really advise on this as he was trained in stealth for most of his life, and only now was he being out in the public eye, though it seemed that Keniwa was at least taking on the experience that he had learned previously and making sure that he used this key skills in this fight, so he learned by doing, that was something that Ishi had to note down with himself.

"Interesting to see how the longer they go on for, it seems the struggling between one side and the other is effected, the real situation is can Mitsuha hold her own for another round"

Mitsuha kept the offense on for quite a while, and it looked like Keniwa was burning through all of his reserves. However, as if fooled by his own vision, Keniwa’s stamina persevered, bringing Mitsuha to a wall that ultimately sealed this match. It looked awfully violent, as if Keniwa… had strength to spare.

Could Take take him on next? Once again on his feet, the swordsman leaned his hands on the edge of the bricked fences, his eyes clenched shut in deep thought. Why not… why not keep his promise to Aria, then? Think about that and nothing else, Ōtakemaru.

And thus, he had decided. Turning back to face Aria once more, his face revealed not the bubbling energy of a man eager to fight, but the drained look of a boy who was enamored by the entity in front of him. Yet as chair-bound as she was, there was something… oddly dainty- wait, dainty? Was that the right word?

… Nay. Something irresistible about Aria that beckoned Take to swallow his fears. His doubts. His hesitations. He’d never felt like this before – usually, a boy chained by scars of the past would be kneeling before those terms. Fear would drown him, and hesitation would bend his every bone to its whim. However, as if a miracle, those powerful self-inflicted adversaries were swept aside.

Because of her.

“It’s my turn, Aria. Watch closely,” was all he said before his form blurred away in a phantom-like fashion, a mere leap amplified by his yet exhausted chakra supplies.

Kiriyomi watches in surprise as Mitsuha manages to make Keniwa bleed, keeping him on his toes and even pushing him back slightly. He recognizes her dance, this time, similar to the one that she had used to escape from Shusuke's clone back during their Genjutsu class. She has also summoned clones and her ally, Crush, a cute little turtle summon. Unfortunately for Mitsuha, the clones don't seem to slow Keni down very much and he continues to pummel her, until she manages to put a barrier between herself and her aggressor. "Oh, that's a good idea! She can heal up behind that while Keni tires himself out trying to hit her! What do you think, Aria? She's gonna be a pretty strong competitor when you're feeling better." Kiri sets a gentle hand on her arm, using Mystical Hand to send some healing energy into her body. Surely being here had to be tiring, so he was just trying to alleviate any discomfort she may be experiencing.

As he turns back towards the arena, Keni rushes forward and bursts through Mitsuha's barrier, punching the girl and her summon in the head, knocking them flying backwards. Well, that was a little rough... I don't think he needed to be so violent in a fight like this. He certainly wasn't that mean when we fought back in the forest. What's going on with him? As he is musing over this, Take stands up and turns to Aria sitting between them.

“It’s my turn, Aria. Watch closely." Kiri cocks his head to the side as Take jumps down into the arena, seemingly to be Keniwa's next opponent.

Ishi watched the fight, the two going backward and forwards though he knew that this fight was over, with the two seeming to be closing on their own abilities, one from the damage they had taken, the other from the chakra that they were using with each second that ticked by, an interesting tactic from one, the other trying to rely on brute strength. He knew full well that this fight was other with the last connection, directly to the face, it seemed that Keniwa was not going to hold back, maybe he had managed to teach him something, only if small, as he listened to the others speaking around him.

It seemed that they wanted to continue sparing, which was within their own rights to do so, but Ishi had seen what he was required to see and was done for now at least, as he allowed himself to stand up, making sure he had his belongings with him, he turned himself away and headed to the exit of the arena, it seemed that there was still work to be done and training that could be improved upon, but for now he had witnessed what was required and could say that between the two it was an actually quite even fight, regardless of power difference one of them trying to play the long game.

"Seems this next generation of Shinobi does indeed have potential, not even that but this could be considered a golden age once more inside of Knonoha."

With that last words to his own thoughts, he was gone from sight.
