Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Re: Knowing... (Class/Arata, Aya, Miyako)

Miyako genuinely couldn't believe what she was hearing. At first she just looked confused. No, no way. Nobody was that stupid. Nobody sane held their own well being in such little regard as to say something like that over something like this. But nope. It was sinking in. He'd actually had the nerve to threaten her right in front of everyone over his crummy little map. At first she just looked confused, not quite able to believe what she was hearing. Quite frankly Miyako thought highly of herself and the Kagetsu and even they weren't bold enough for such threats -- so who the hell did this nobody think he was?

That's when the anger set this. This ignorant, talentless, filthy blooded hack! He'd heard the reputation of the Uchiha's arrogance in their homeland. Did they think so highly of their cursed eyes that they thought they should be treated the same here?! For a minute she just stared at him, a look of unfiltered hate in her eyes -- before their sensei gave him a firm smack upside the head not one but twice. At that point all tension she had built up broke and was replaced by her making an active effort to cover her mouth and try not to laugh. Ha! Guess he shouldn't have been so cocky! He was better off to sticking with something in better taste.

Of course she got a bit of shaming herself but that was just natural. Sensei wasn't about to give her a good thwack over telling what was mostly the truth. Of course then there was the final lesson for today. As much as she wanted to be offended by the implications the truth was most everyone had been at least reasonably critical of each other's work. After what had just happened Miyako would have loved nothing more than to put this mongrel of a ninja even lower than he already was but as Uri-sensei had said himself if she couldn't get over her spite then she'd never be a capable leader. That was an unacceptable position for a Kagetsu to be in.

She accepted her map back without so much as a glance towards the girl, less than impressed by the 'advice' she'd gotten as she focused on her mark. After a moment of hesitation she stood up and took a deep breathe, holding the map close to her chest before she stepped forward towards Ryuchi, offering a sweet smile and a bright look as she spoke to him.

"You seem to have trouble properly scripting specific details but your ability to calculate variables and theoreticals is impressive. I bet if the two of us worked together on such a project it'd be the best our village has ever seen, no question~!"

The moment it was handed over she turned back and took her seat, internally brooding over that display. The trouble with being of higher standing is that you had to prove you were of higher standing on occasion and sadly that just as often meant humility instead of dominance.

Re: Knowing... (Class/Arata, Aya, Miyako)

Aww… essentially, he missed completely on the objective of drawing a map for shinobis. However, Orca’s words did tell that Hon’s drawing was splendid for investigation and analyzing. Heck, the Uchiha lad was even jealous of his drawing, and that turned the scene upside down from the ‘uselessness’ of the map in the beginning. Hon couldn’t but scratch the back of his head adoringly, replying: “W-Wha, really? It was nothing… I’m used to 3D more than you think.”

At this point, he had an idea that he didn’t fill out the requirement for a good shinobi map. Uri would elaborate on what they all lacked in their maps to reach the terms - raw data. That was something that didn’t pass his mind when he was drawing it - the time of the day, the amount of people that he passed by, how long they were in a specific area etc.

Perhaps Aya could use some data on her map too. Upon handing back her map, Hon would say: “You could note down the number of doors and/or rooms that you pass by to get here. In a huge building like this one, that could help a lot.”

Re: Knowing... (Class/Arata, Aya, Miyako)

Ryuichi thought he had the last, most impressionable word in that situation. He felt no pride over what he had done, or really any ill will towards the girl since they were ally kumo ninja, yet he received a chop on the head from his sensei.

He didn't speak a word, or hardly even flinch at this disciplinary action yet he still nodded in acceptance at his words, feeling the sting of Uri's hand on top of his head.

When he went on to explaining the next part of the lesson, and gave Ryuichi a slap on the back of the head he would get much more of a reaction than the head chop seconds prior. When the force of the redheads hand planted itself square onto Ryuichi's skull he jerked forward with a twitch of one eye. He was trying desperately to maintain a cooler composer, but doing so made his whole body look stiff.

"Yes sensei." He said in a strained voice, scanning the room. He straightened himself up once Uri left him alone, and picked up the paper of the only other guy inside of the classroom.

However he was interrupted by the girl who had gone and insulted everyone currently in the classroom who was wearing a sickeningly bittersweet fake smile and twisted excuses for 'cute' eyes. When she went on about his map, Ryuichi simply took it back with his expression not being exactly clear. It was one of both annoyance, and sadness. How could someone who claims to be a ninja still try and divide themselves? It's people like this that made Ryuichi glad he was an ANBU trainee. With the ANBU mask on, who you are doesn't matter. Only your actions.

This girl desperately needed a mask.

"Look, thanks for the charade, but I know what I did wrong, and I can outpace you now that I understand my mistake." He grabbed the paper back from the girl's hands and his eyes began to run red, signifying his heritage once more. "But that was a serious warning that you should consider. Not everyone is held back by laws, or ties like the people in this room."

With that he walked towards honnou, unaware that for the first time ever he had summoned forth his third sharingan tomoe, signifying his near mastery over his gift.

He deactivated his crimson eyes to meet with Hon, brushing off his unnerved expression for one with a smile.

"Hey. I never caught your name, but the map you made is impressive! All ya gotta to is remake it on a 2 dimensional plane, and take what Aoi-sensei said into account and you'll do just fine." He said with a thumbs up.

He returned to his own chair with an extra piece of paper, closing his eyes to try and vividly recall his trip to this place.

Regardless of whether or not he could get every detail, this would take some time.

Re: Knowing... (Class/Arata, Aya, Miyako)

Aya nodded to Hon and took her map back, and gave it a look. "Okay." Aya stated, then smiled. Ryu Ocha came over to talk about Hon's map, and to give him some advice. Before that, he was making sure the little girl knew he was serious about what he said. She looked like she was going to laugh at Ryu Ocha when he was hit by Aoi-sensei so she doubted that little girl would take it seriously.

Aya looked at Ocha and leaned in to whisper to him. "You know her kind won't listen to anyone. But its sweet that you tried." Aya whispered, at a tone, so only Ocha could hear, she covered her mouth to prevent anyone from reading her lips. She then backed away and headed for the door. "Anyways I'm going home, see Y'all later." Aya stated and gave Aoi, and Ocha, and anyone else who cared.

Aya unlocked the door, then exited the room, closing the door behind her. She stopped to look at the boy in the hall, probably late to class. "Good luck with Aoi-sensei's extra work." She said with a smirk then walked past him. If he tried following her or asking her anything she'd just shrug, and respond with "I'm going home." She wasn't going to help a kid who was late, if he wanted to know what was going on he should have been on time, simple as that.

Once she was out of the building she'd use her Seikon warping abilities to get home faster.

Re: Knowing... (Class/Arata, Aya, Miyako)

Something came dangerously close to snapping in Miyako when the red eyed, good for nothing, filth blooded deviant had the nerve to make a repeat offense. He didn't even realize the irony of his own words, did he? She wasn't the one who should be worried about saying the wrong thing to the wrong people. And what right did he have to act so self important?! He had nothing, he was a nobody! He was as lowly as a ninja could get! This was why their kind shouldn't even be allowed in the Cloud village. It was clear the Uchiha hadn't left their ego back in the Leaf.

She forced herself to stay calm and not retort. A Kagetsu lady shan't do something as undignified as having an outburst in public. All she could do was dig her nails into her palms as she gathered her things without another word.

Commoners... what good were they for conversation anyways?

That little thought plugged up the black hole was the disappointment of today. Her expression was difficult to read as she fiddled with her own map upon it's return, staring into space her thoughts drifted away from the then and there. She took her seat, not even aware of the blonde girl's departure as she stared towards the corner. This whole thing had been one big mistake. She should know better than to try and learn among commoners like this.

Re: Knowing... (Class/Arata, Aya, Miyako)

The kids all seemed to be able to answer the next challenge properly... as properly as they could. Even the Kagetsu child was able to put on some effort into this. He still felt it was forced and almost rather spiteful, but he'd let it slip away. The important thing was that they learned that there was more to the simple skills expected of them. Map-making wasn't you're simple direction go-to data, as it needed references, purpose and value. Anyone can just purchase a map for landmarks, but getting all the information for possible raids and infiltration requires more details of the mundane.

In any case, the class was just about to end, but not before one more hurdle. Uri got to the center of the room and then spoke, "Alright. Good job in giving critiques and feedbacks. That's an important trait for a shinobi. Remember, while the idea of working alone is assumed, we all still fit in the larger picture that is the village. Thus, it is paramount to be considerate and aware of others as well as how you can yourself in these situations."

At that point, he then walked to the bank of the study room where a door was at, before opening it to reveal a large archive inside with shelves and books and maps and other things. "Your final task today is to research on Kumogakure. Find anything about this village that you would consider as a hazard or threat or weakness, especially in terms of village mapping. Make sure your state your claim and defend it. At the same time, you must propose means to counter it or to enhance it. For this, you'll be using the rest of the black papers on the desk. A minimum of ten pages of a report per student, sketches not included. Think of this as your scouting and recommendation mission for the Raikage himself, so you better make sure the report isn't childish."

He stood by the open doorway and would then wait for them. "Also, as this is an individual work, you'll first introduce yourself as you stand, included in this introduction is your future prospect and plans, as well as what you intend to do for this final report. It can be anything, and it can also be totally different from what you discover based on the records. The point is, when you declare it in front of everyone in the room, treat it as if it was the mission description given to you. Then when you write your report, you have to state it there as well to show what your initial plan was. Whether you discovered something new or not, you'll then have to detail it there. Furthermore, as I've instructed in the invitation, you'll be stuck here until sunset. I don't want half-assed jobs. So you better take your time and use it well to compose your report. Hand it over when your done and I'll dismiss you. That's all."

Re: Knowing... (Class/Arata, Aya, Miyako)

Ryuichi's train of thought went on for a few seconds longer, only interrupted with Aya when she moved close to his ear. He flinched at the sudden presence of a hand beside his head along with, not really knowing what to do, only listening to what Aya said. When she left he simply sat there frozen, holding his pencil in the same place it had frozen at when stopped in the first place.

"She called me....sweet." Ryuichi said to himself under a whisper as his face lit up a bright red. This wasn't like him! He was all flustered and nervous after a compliment from someone he's been living with for nearly a year. Was is the way she went about telling him? Right, that must have been it.

Ryuichi straightened his outfit, and rubbed his reddening cheeks, trying to get those thoughts out of his head. This was just like the combat class when he was just a student...no doubt Uri would tease him again if he had noticed.

Speaking of Uri, Ryuichi had finally cleared his tomato face he heard the instructions given, and quickly flipped the switch. Now was the time to show that smug girl up. Unlike that pampered princess, Ryuichi had been on a few missions already, a few being solo. He already knew exactly how a mission log, and report should be formatted and written after being scolded twice in a row by superior ANBU for not doing as he was told. These complaints stopped once his reports became clear, precise, and accurate.

Ryuichi nodded with a toothy grin. This task was easier than stealing candy from a baby...well, perhaps not that easy....a ninja baby. One with a kunai. Yeah....

The white haired boy snort at the image in his head before walking into of scrolls and maps, collecting what he needed before sitting back down at a table a distance away from the rest. He had work to do.

Once he had finished his ten of work he grinned. This was it. No doubt the pompous excuse for a ninja would try and outshine everyone by being flamboyant and overdoing her work, but here....nothing but the facts. Cut, cleaned, and polished exactly as it should be. Exactly how a shinobi writes their reports.

He awaited his chance to speak about his papers, tapping his finger lightly on them to give a clear smacking sound with his fingernail.

Then he stood in front of the others with a grin, staring down Miyako specifically. 'let's go.'

"Date of Entry: XX/XX/XXXX
Subject: Mapping issues, insecurities, and possible hazardous layout
Location of report: Cronopolis"

His voice was monotone, and sharply pronounced, not wanting anyone to mishear his words.
"Several locations within Cronopolis have been subject to many complaints by the residents for years as of writing this entry. Faulty pipe systems, terrible smells, heavy crime activity, and countless other complaints are listed on page 8 of this report.
It is my belief that several issues are at play. The twisting alleyways of Cronopolis are an easy place to hide, and are sometimes overlooked by ninja scouts due to the need to rummage through so much, leaving it mostly untouched. This leads to several illegal interactions and confrontations that can lead to injury, property damage, and lack of a desire for business to be done in the area.
It is my belief that this is also the reasoning for exterminators, electricians, and plumbers avoiding areas and making it harder for the public.

These affairs may also seem unconnected to us shinobi, however if this keeps up there could be major problems. Massive fires, crime gangs, infestations. The early signs of these can already be seen within the isolation of the shadows of Cronopolis to some extent, however the growth of these negative effects could easily become uncontrollable, and force the hand of the village ninja to fix, using/losing valuable resources in building and/or time.

It is my suggestion to quickly finish the district rumored to connect the more financially endowed citizens of the village to the lower class peoples. This could also encourage more funding for common needs such as street cleaners, and the before mentioned electricians, plumbers, etc. making it an overall safer, and more easily maintained place for the people of Kumo.

My second suggestion is to decrease the pathways given to the criminals that hide within the shadows in between the buildings. Concrete blocks too tall to climb in between most houses could suffice. "

With that he set the rest of the papers down, showing drawn maps, detailed descriptions of each individual problem, and how his summary of solutions could solve the issues. Growing up in the place for so long tended to give the boy some ideas.

He walked back away from the rest of the group to sit down, making sure he was still in earshot from Uri so he could hear any kind of advice, or criticism. He was all ears.

His ears were gonna get it. He had completely misunderstood the goal of this lesson...

Re: Knowing... (Class/Arata, Aya, Miyako)

Hmh… hmh… Honnou needed a good chunk of time to come up with a good location in Kumogakure to write his report upon. In terms of village mapping, perhaps the many vertical layers could be addressed? He remembered his route to the bibliotheca from his home, and it involved a lot of ascension and descension. For a shinobi, it was nothing to complain about - he enjoyed the free style parkouring - but what about the other citizens of Kumo? Wouldn’t they find it rather difficult to keep up with the maps that were highly laid with shinobis in focus?

Especially one avenue… and now that they had until sunset, he found it suitable to check out that avenue again. “Well, if we have to sunset, then excuse me; there’s an avenue I need to check out again,” he informed Uri before making it to the window where the younger boy was seen. Opening it widely, Hon would step up and focus a little, pinpointing the exact avenue from his present position. 950 meters at 2 o’clock, 50 meters higher. It was like simple dimensions…

He would return a while later, determined to finish his papers on the research that he did on the specified area. It would take longer than normal papers, since he had to give it an extra ‘oomph’ to make it appeal like a professional piece of research from a high-standing professor. It would take almost until sunset where he was finally done - his original plan on what he wished for the enhancement, what he concluded in the end after having looked at the avenue (there were many avenues like this one) as well as the basics; his name on top and his evidence below accompanied by his methods. The methods that he used to deem the avenue suitable for upgrading felt just as important, so he wanted to include that in his final delivery.

As the sun began to turn slightly orange, Hon would lay his 13 papers and three sketches at the table in front of Uri. Hon’s face would look a bit deprived from energy, but his overall expression appeared the same. Depending on who else was present now, he would take his leave upon Uri’s permission and perhaps chit-chat with someone on the way out…

Miyako was hesitant to get up and get started with the final step of the lesson. She was frustrated and upset and on the verge of losing her motivation altogether. Why couldn't anyone respect her like they should? What was wrong with all these people outside of her clan? She was so sluggish that she was the last student to get up to declare what they planned on studying. At first she could only stare up at the archive, her mind conjuring little more than white noise at first as she tried to think of a matter that needed covering. After a long moment and taking a deep breathe she forced herself to stand up a bit taller. No, this wasn't something that should let her down! If she was going to let them all know how much better she would do so by proving it.

With a look of sheer, stern determination written across her face she turned to Uri and spoke firmly to him. "I am Kagetsu Miyako, kunoichi of the Kagetsu clan. I plan on becoming one of the greatest spies our village has ever had and my plan for the project... is to give my analysis of the entire village, not just one piece of it. Ignoring any part of the city is ignoring all the factors that section can have on another. As a noble lady of the Kagetsu I wish to help maintain the land my family helped settle!"

She wasted little time after that, quickly focusing chakra to her fingers to form strings that snapped in different directs, snagging a dozen different scrolls before one yank pulled them off their shelves and into her arms. She practically stomped back to her seat, stumbling from all the material she had with her before putting it down with very little grace on her table. She knew she'd just set herself up to do something impossible. There was too many factors to be able to connect and relate all of them -- but she knew she was smart enough to peg most of them. She just needed the time.

There wasn't a moment of rest for her. She went through the contents of the scrolls at a break neck pace, jotting down with one hand as she kept track of her place along the text with the other. When noon came around she rolled out multiple scrolls as far as she could, letting her eat with one hand as the other kept writing. Her wrist hurt from the effort but she knew if she slowed down she wouldn't get anywhere near her goal. So she just didn't stop. By the time the sun was starting to set she was physically and mentally fatigued, scrolls covering all of the table not occupied by the scattered papers she'd written on. She didn't know how many pages it was. Well over ten, covering everything she could think of. Aerial blind spots. Water ways, structural weaknesses, the foreign refugees within their very walls. She'd formulated dozens of different scenarios and how to handle them. As best as could be expected from a young woman of her intellect. Of course she didn't have the energy to gloat, already half asleep with her arms on the table and her head rested soundly in the crooks.

There was so much to process. He knew of the time constraints becoming a challenge for the kids. Limitations would always be present in real time scenarios. Whether they be about the current information available, time, and even circumstances. So he would watch how the kids adapted to the challenge and make sure they were all in line and following the instructions, though some did deviate. By the end of it, they would finally show him their work.

Looking at Ryuichi’s, Uri’s eyes squinted with a seriousness to them. He let his gaze fall on the report before him and didn’t take long to process the written information. After all that was done, he looked up to the boy, and said, “That was impressive and rather detailed to the point of the specific area reportage. However, you forgot the first part of the instruction which was to introduce yourself and stating your objectives before you laid out the claims. It is important that in every report, you need to state out the original intent and the scope of the information you want to retrieve before laying out the details. This way, your report can show what was the initial information limited to and what was the information you added on upon completion. I’d give it a B+.”

Next was Hon, the soft spoken boy he had encountered not too long ago. He had already known that the boy had gotten a recommendation to be admitted to the anbu but he was still out there to be tested in certain ways. The report was rather brief, and much to Uri’s disappointment, wasn’t at all a breakthrough. He placed the report down and then spoke, “We’ve got a lot of grounds to cover, and being simplistic may not be the most ideal. I say this, even if the report seemed like a detail blueprint, because it only serves a good deal for an architecture and not much for infiltration. Remember, you were supposed to hand in a report that not only was good enough to be a recollection of the location, but a means to update and to give recommendation to the Raikage about the flaws. C.”

Finally, Miyako gave her report. She managed well to introduce herself and her goals but then there was the obvious divergence from the original content. Nevertheless, Uri made sure to let her finish before he gave his critique. It would be rude to interject so suddenly. “From the looks of it, you have the passion and the spirit to be a good shinobi. That’s important. However, the mission was to select one certain part, not the whole. Your choice strictly shows your personality, and if I’m not mistaken, you’re bound to always go for the greater piece of the mission. That is a problem. When given a mission, you must stick to the limitations and scope fo the mission. It is not so much as ignoring any other part of the city, rather, you are limiting the efficiency of a good report on one place to accommodate for the whole. There’s no way you’ll be able to pull off a comprehensive report to cover all of the areas in just half a day, especially with your capability and access, so never assume that. Instead, you should always focus on what is given as a task to you. If this was a serious mission, a supervisor would rather have a detailed and comprehensive report on the selected matter, than a generalization, because you tend to choose the latter when you begin to involve other parts of a location, choosing to compare and analyze within that realm. C.”

With the sun setting in the distance, Uri would pile up their reports. It was unfortunate that Aya had to leave earlier, but he had already given her the task for her to commit elsewhere. Again, most of the tasks for this class was based on their abilities, and Aya would have something else intended. And he’ll have to talk to her in the apartment that night.

“Alright, class is done. You’re all allowed to leave now. Remember what you learned here and don’t slack off. We’ll be meeting again soon,” said Uri as he began to leave with the reports in tow.
