Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

┌───────────────────────────────┐
REQUIREMENT: 600 wc
REWARD: 25000 Yen, and 55 stat points or ASP

[let me know if u'd like a 2x wc run.]
└───────────────────────────────┘

Large dual-walls of a washed sage green, they herald the entrance of Konohagakure; gates splayed wide open for the coming and the going. A young boy's post awaits him by these doors. With them, awaits a man donning a vest with the village crest. Greens on greens. Like leaves that ride on a passing breeze. The sun is high, the trees sway in dance, and — if you listen close enough — the birds practice their song in the distance. Free of worry.

"There you are," says the man upon Kino's arrival. The only other guard issued at the gates for Kino's shift. His face betrays his age, rendering him a good four of five years older. There's a clear stubble blanketing his chin, a few lines molded from experience, and a tired look to his gaze. He'd be a man of towering height if his shoulders weren't so slumped.

"Tanatsu Kino, was it? You'll be posted here; checking arrivals. Your biggest job will be checking for identification. A passport, a travel pass. If you're unsure, ask away. I'll be on the other side of the gate, but I'm always listening to the comms." Regardless of whether Kino looked worried or not, the man's arms unfold to give a ritualistic pat on the boy's shoulder. As though of habit. "Don't worry 'bout today's mission. Usually goes smooth for the first-timers." Then, he steps past him and away.

In the distance, two figures can already be seen approaching.

Kino smiled at them man giving him his orders, he knew that he was going to have a long, long, day ahead of him. He made his way to his station and got his things in order. He knew it was a fairly simple job, and there were only a few occasions he could think of in his lifetime that something happened as people attempted to enter the gate, usually it was when people tried to leave. He stood and waited for the pair to approach, looking both calm and at the same time trying to give an effort to seem intimidating toward them just incase. He didn't want to be rude, but he also was here to deter any would-be acts of terrorism. The gate duty may seem like one that is pretty straight forward, but it has purpose far bigger than just letting people in or not, and Kino knew that.

As the pair approached, he'd hold up his hand to gesture for them to stop where they were. He would then close hold out his hand and smile warmly. "Hello, your passport and travel documentation please." He attempted to keep it short and cordial as to allow them to feel more at ease once they came to his station. He would examine not only the paperwork to check for any discrepancies but also their forms, packs, the whole lot from where he was standing. In case anything was suspicious he'd have an idea to be more thorough with his check. It wasn't that smuggling was common place, especially from the main gates, but if it was going to happen there would definitely be something to keep an eye out for so he could learn to identify it early on. He would make any notes of suspicious behavior as well, eye contact, anxious movements, the works. If he was going to be letting them through, he needed to be one hundred percent certain everything was above board.

Two men of towering builds pause before the gate's newest addition. One sports a series of scars across his face while the other dresses in an even larger array of tattoos. They're dressed in attire hailing from a nearby village that Kino would easily recognize. "'Course," says the man with the scars, his smile rough around the edges. A pair of Konohagakure passports are handed over. As for documentation: "we was visiting our parents. Left some week ago." And with this, Kino is given a paper noting temporary departure with dates matching the duo's coming and going.

"We good?" chimes the tattooed one, his expression a shade darker. Neither of them seem anxious. Their shoulders are slumped — tired, if anything — and their eyes remain flat, settling patiently over the young guard.

"Hang tight fellas, just gotta make sure stamps are good and we are good to go okay?" He does just that, given all the documentation and the verbal confirmation that matched it, he only needed to double check that he was good to go on his end. If anything came back as innaccurate then he'd need to question them further, but as long as everything was stamped and sealed correctly he could let these folks head on home. The demeanor of the two was interesting but not unusual at the gate, usually people just arriving looked rather tired from the journey, so this was to be expected.

A smile gives to a nod. Meanwhile, the gruff expressioned one shifts on his feet. He looks ready to quip with a thought or two, but his fuse doesn't give out just yet.

In their passports, Kino would find nothing out of the ordinary. Matching dates, signatures, up-to-date stamps, appropriate credentials. The biggest flaw attaches itself at the corner of one passport; abused and wrinkled, but no real suggestion to trouble. In the distance, a pair of eyes train on Kino. Namely his supervisor. And, in the further distance out, another pair can already be seen approaching.

"Whas' takin' so long? We ain't had to wait this long 'fore." drums out irritation from the tattooed one.

"Relax, brother. Ain't the usual lookout." The smile faces Kino. "Don't mind my brother. Take ya time."

He stamps the approval, "Sorry about that, have a good rest of your journey and stay safe you two." He smiles handing back all the correct paperwork with a smile. He was thorough certainly with his examination, but it was better to be safe than sorry in these sort of situations. He'd much rather be caught taking too long than letting someone through if they were not allowed in country. He waved them on through and waited for the next pair to approach.

"Good morning, passports and documentation please." He said as they approached the booth. He was already getting his verification sheet ready to cut down some of the time on this next one, seems he'd found a grove. His mind was wondering though, this type of work was rather dull and given the recent beating he had taken at the gate over paper work he was pretty bored with it already. He wasn't really cut out for desk or clerical duties, not because he lacked the ability only the lack of interest in such things. He would much rather be on a mission with Sota or Anbu right now, but here he was either way.

The men before him offer their gratitude; a coarse "hm," from brother A and a quick thankful bow of brother B's head. Then, they trudge past Kino, carrying themselves into their village. The nod of approval from his supervisor is easily missed if Kino doesn't happen to glance over his shoulder right there and then. Fact of the matter is this:

Undaunted by the impatient and whining, Kino was supposed to take his sweet time. In watchful eyes, he was doing just fine. A green light.

The next pair are followed by a quiet. Birds no longer occupy the airs with their song — a stillness takes place where a mother and her daughter stand. A tall woman with bright hair, dressed in attire suggesting a farmer's wife, and a similar coat fitted to the child hanging at her side. The curve on her lips is not nearly as bright as her daughter's, but it offers the warmth of a mother's smile. "Hello," she starts. "Oh, yes. Here you go..." And what Kino is given is a set of two paper slips. Documentation. If he'd read it, he'd find a pass detailing a VISITING ticket.

"Mom, I'm sooooo excited!!!!" the girl burrows her toothy grin into the older woman's side, her giggle high-pitched. Then, she turns to Kino; "I've never been, y'kno!!"

KIno Smiled brightly, "Well let me give it all a once over and then we can get you on in so you can start your vacation huh?" He laughs, "so how long are you visiting?" He asks both as a reason for him to understand and to verify her forms. It wasn't unheard of for someone to visit, especially kids who for some odd reason idolized the shinobi or something like the hokage rock since they learned of them in school.

Once everything was checked he'd smile, "Well I won't keep you much longer, but of course I have to recommend a bistro here in town. If you wants some of the best chow you can find in any budget that is." He laughs and gives them the direction of Nao's bistro, "By the time you get to town I am sure you'll be looking for a decent bite to eat." he thought for a moment about his first trip outside the walls and how excited he was, he imagined it would likely be the same for this girl in this moment. "Hey, also.. if you want to do something fun while in town, I recommend going to the hokage rock, there's a lot to learn and see there." He hands them their stamped papers, and waved them through.

Something was off. Waning chirps, lessened to a quiet — a coldness, eating away at the air which a mother and her child invaded. Her smile wasn't bright — warm, perhaps, but something crippled the effect that the corners of her lips hoped to give. "Oh, yes. Not too long," she says, and it's a little tighter now. Like she knows something Kino doesn't.

But Kino doesn't stop there. He goes on to outline the hotspots of the village and the little girl offers him a big, wide smile. And he goes on, and she holds it, and he goes on some more, and she — blinks, tries to hold it. "Seriously??? Woooooowww!! Thanks, mister!!!!!" She tries, but he goes on. Who cares about the hokage rock, just let them

"Hold on," interjects a deep voice from Kino's ear piece. The guard overseeing him. "Passports? From their village."

The mother receives the papers, and they start in the direction of the gates, and the little girl snickers.

Kino was quick to react, he practically body blocks both before they fully move.

"Now, don't mistake kindness for ignorance please. Papers might be signed but passports are required to enter. I know that may seem unfair, but given the snicker and quickness about you.. I'm going to insist."

His demeanor was completely different than it had been, the happy go lucky child that stood before them a second ago made way for this hollow and cold watching figure that now stood in his place. He was not acting out of line, but something about the body language said exactly what he was capable of. He wasn't threatening in the direction of the child, but he was making it clear to the mother he'd happily introduce them to the reality of the world if necessary.

"So I'm going to ask, you step back to the gate and provide me with a passport or I will happily hand you a refusal slip for whomever sent you today"

Blunt and accusatory, or just cold and realistic. Either way Kino was certainly not about to mess up this early in his shift. Especially since his last gate duty made him a guest at the medical facility.

Just like the chill in their airs, Kino's own is replaced by a bite and a half. Venom seeps into his warning, and the duo flinch back — eyes twisting in either confusion or disappointment. Or both. "Oh, well... but... you'd just approved us, hadn't you?" the mother attempts, her warmth drifting, her voice souring. The little girl retraces a step, another. Then, she shoots Kino a nasty look.

"Let's just go home, mother..."

"Oh, yes. Maybe we should..."
And she begins to turn, eyes still a-glued to the guard that had denied them. And the girl follows, and —

"Tanatsu, watch out!" comes a shout from Kino's ear. Then, an explosion — one of clouds and dust, right before the gates of the village. Chakra fills the air, and the area is swallowed by a shallow mist. But it's no use. They're outranked by both Kino and his supervisor, and Kino would need nothing but a moment to catch them by presence alone. Two figures taking to the skies. Hoping to leap over the gates through their weak veil.

"Capture. Nothing more," barks the voice. "Requesting immediate backup; some kind of infiltrators at the gate."

Kino flashed a smile, 'capture only' ringing in his ear. "Fair enough.." he sprung into action.

He used his chakra jump to intercept midair. He used what Anbu training he had to maneuver and wrangle the pair in the air. He wasn't about to let something like this occur while he was here. Any resistance would be met with equal if not lesser force than required, taking the only very seriously. He held them down once in the ground a knee in ones back and elbow in the other.

"Little help here.. " he laughed holding the squirming pair, "man.. almost had me too, shame." He laughs waiting for the assistance with the two in custody. All and all, this was at least more exciting than he had thought it would be.

The promised resistance is delivered; a fist flies forward, and where it attempts to crash against jaw, it fails miserably. In whichever form Kino returns the force, the older woman cries out in pain before slamming against the hard ground below. Another puff of clouds renders a new look for the 2nd party. No longer a little girl, Kino holds down the elbow of a grown woman — equal to that of her partner.

"Damnit!! Let us go!!!!" she shrieks, clawing at the air. The first woman falls into a quiet. Sensing her resignation, the second one grows further restless.

"Good job," arrives the voice of Kino's supervisor, this time in person. Behind him is a set of two; four men & women ready to take the failed intruders into custody. "It usually does go smooth for first-timers, but..."

Alas. In the familiar distance, silhouettes signal more approaching the gate.

"I'll make a report on this later. You good to hold your post?" And if Kino was, the road would be cleared of the half-resistant women & a shift would continue as is.

Kino let it be handled by those involved more regularly. He wasnt going to comment on his last time at the gates as it didn't go well. But he then walked back to his post and dusted himself off. He'd spend his remaining shift being really methodical having messed up already once.
