Looking down at the mission debriefing in her grasp Kumiko knew things could be worse. No matter how trivial a mission might seem the Uchiha girl never complained about what was assigned to her. A mission was a mission. Someone had to do it and that someone was her today. During the holiday season there weren't very many missions anyway. The higher ups tried to keep as many shinobi home for the holidays as they could. Emergencies were, of course, an exception. Kumiko didn't hate the holidays but she didn't love them. Maybe this was a way to get her more into the holiday spirit.
With her backpack strapped upon her back Kumiko set out to complete her mission. Considering how many crystals she had to replace the weight wasn't too bad. She'd easily be able to maneuver about the residential district. The closer she drew to her destination the louder the faint hum of Christmas music fluttered about. At first not many people heeded her actions but once a few noticed the change in lighting to a red here or a green there, more smiles were sent her way. Even a few ' Merry Christmas' greetings. Before she knew it most of the tunnel corridors were already festively lite. All that remained were the street lights on the main streets. Luckily it was a simply process.
As Kumiko retrieved one of the chakra crystals from her backpack a small child tugged on her jacket sleeve, drawing her attention away from the task at hand. " The lights are different. " The child exclaimed, pointing to one Kumiko already switched. " I don't understand. " Now Kumiko had little patience for children but she was on duty. She'd have to appease the child. " Well, that's because it's Christmas. The village council decided to make things a little more Christmas-y around the village to get people in the holiday spirit. So that is why I'm changing the lights to green and red. " Maybe that would satisfy the child. " Oh. " For some reason there was still a quizzical look upon the child's face. " How does that work? " How did Kumiko explain this to a child who probably knew nothing of chakra. " Well you see these crystals, " she removed the previous chakra crystal and brought it down for the child to look at, " are clear. So when they are lite up with chakra they glow a natural light. When I replace them with these crystals, " Kumiko took out a bright red crystal and placed it into the street lantern, " the light shining through will glow a red colour once it is reconnected with the chakra circuit which runs from light to light. All I need to do is place a littler fire chakra into the crystal to reactivate it. Like this. " Concentrating a small amount of chakra into her index finger she tapped it against the crystal. It flickered slightly before fully illuminating a bright red hue. " and that's how it works. " A couple seconds passed by. it didn't really look like the child understood but he nodded anyway. " That's cool! merry Christmas! " He shouted before running off to do whatever little boys did. " Merry Christmas!" Kumiko shouted back as she placed to previous chakra crystal into her backpack. A smile slowly crept its way upon her face as she thought about the little boy. How innocent and naive children were. So ready to believe anything told to them. But then again this was Christmas where everyone believed in generosity and giving. Not to mention a big fat man dressed in red who broke into peoples homes to leave them presents.
