He sat up with a sudden jerk so sharp he could swear he heard something snap in his neck. He rubbed the sore area while yawning heavily. His eyes, still red from waking up too abruptly from his sleep, darted around, screening the warehouse he had been assigned to for intruders. Nothing. At least, nothing he could detect. Perhaps he could sneak another power nap into the schedule before the shift manager came in the early morning to check up on him. After a few short moments of consideration, he decided to drop the idea, and rather make an attempt, no matter how futile, to stay awake for the remainder of the mission. As he looked at the huge watch on the wall, he could see that he had already been sleeping away nearly four of the twelve hours for which his task was supposed to last. Oh well, perhaps some patrolling would do him good, help him stay awake. Not that it was much to patrol. The entire building was about the size and structure of a regular barn, allowing for pretty easy outlook over the whole area. With a defeated sigh, he stood up from the chair he had been leaning so comfortable towards the wall, and climbed the ladder up to the second floor of the warehouse. As expected, nothing suspicious came to catch his attention. A second yawn in a short period of time burst through his mouth, indicating that he was in desperate need of some sleep. When he got home, he would most definitely indulge the urge. But that wasn’t until another eight or nine hours. Oh, how he dreaded the coming hours.
