Physical Description: Shiori is your typical girl, a background character in her own story if you will. She has a lean build compared to the other girls her age, weighing in at about 29 kg(~64 lbs), and standing at 133 cm(~4’4"). She has black-brown hair, being opposed by her bright blue irises. Her skin is light from her genetics and burns easily, so it isn’t much of a shocker to spot her with red marks and wrapped bandages during hot days. And because of it, she often only wears form-fitting clothing that can cover most of her body along with a hat. On the abundant number of cold days, however, her thin body is wrapped in many layers to keep her from freezing(courtesy of her older sibling).
Mental Description: Shiori is never one to approach new people unless she truly feels like it, or is pushed to. But when she gets the whole part of introductions over with, it’s almost like winding up a toy: it never stops until it runs out of energy. She tries to please everyone around her and is afraid to speak her mind if she knows it will do more harm than good. She’s a proud goody-two-shoes, and will never break rules without a good reason to. She has a slight distrust to those who hold immense power but is slowly turning around.
History: Shiori was born into a poor family in a small two-room home, but never truly minded since not having many things was her normal. Her father was constantly working in the mines to assist the ever-growing economy, while at home she was looked after by her beloved sibling, Kaede. Her mother was never in the picture, but because of her age, she was ignorant of the fact that a mother should have been in her life. Shiori is the youngest of four, with her two eldest brothers already off to pursue their own desires in the seemingly limitless world of opportunities. They both ended up in the Imperial Navy in the end and fell out of contact with the Moriko family, and thus she never truly had a proper relationship with her brothers.
Shiori was always a curious child, and when she was allowed outside with her older sibling, she often liked to stop to talk with passing strangers. Of course, it wouldn‘t be long until Kaede would drag her off, very wary of those passing by. And when her skin started to grow more sensitive to the outside, she couldn‘t afford going out unless it was necessary, and Kaede would restrict her outside time anyway. The most interaction she would get was from schooling, Kaede, and letters from her father. Her sibling Kaede was an average student, often working hard to balance both their studies and caring for Shiori. And as Shiori got bigger, she started to take on responsibilities along with Kaede. She is used to household chores, mostly folding clothing and sweeping since Kaede wouldn‘t trust her with more dangerous tasks. And as Shiori got bigger, Kaede finally thought it was best to take on a job while still caring for their younger sister. Shiori wasn‘t quite comfortable with all the time she had to herself, but slowly grew used to being on her own. Kaede got a job at a local toy shop, making them the second source of income along with their father. They both were excited for the life ahead, even planning on opening their own toy shop, until everything turned around.
Shiori always thought of herself as a regular civilian just like the rest of her family and expected to follow the footsteps of either her father or Kaede, until she started showing signs of the rare ability to control the energy source that her city seemed to constantly crave: Chakra. She tried to hide it at first, but the Academy’s CPSS found her with little problem. Kaede, heartbroken, came home to her sister discovered, and the two have a heated talk, with accusations of abandonment being thrown about. Kaede had always suspected something and always feared this day. But after it was all over and promises were exchanged, Shiori went willingly, knowing that she might never see Kaede for a long time. And thus began her journey as an academy student.
