Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

When someone is cornered with only one path to take, they generally take that path. For Ryuichi, and almost anyone who knew the wrath of Eru Uri, this was an obvious 'corner', so to speak. Being told that he should do a class is one thing, and he planned on it once he ranked up. However as time went on and his rank never changed, the expectations towards him seemed to increase as a way to force growth.

So now here Ryuichi stood, glancing over some files in hand while leaning against the chalkboard in an empty classroom, with the seats all placed on top of desks accordingly as if it had been cleared and never touched again. Simple reason for that? Well, because the room had been cleared and cleaned then never touched till this point. Imagine.

Ryu's rippled rinnegan orbs jut back and forth to read several notes on the file, eventually closing it, and setting it onto the teacher's desk. This room was commonly used for lectures, and mental training but Ryu had the time to do as he pleased. With a shrug, and a shift the boy tarted to prepare for the solo lesson for a 'Sinoka Nisorumu" or something along those lines. On the chalk board he made five symbols. A lightning bolt, a rock, some waves, a flame, then several lines to mimic the wind all with arrows pointing to one another to indicate strength.

"Water beats fire, fire beats wind, wind beats lightning, lightning beats earth, earth beats water." Ryu repeated, writing appropriate kanji next to each line to indicate this.

Next was his actual student, who was informed of the lesson via the academy itself. A sort of "extra curricular test".

Ryu held any judgement for when he could actually meet the person he was practically forced to teach. So for now he just leaned against the chalkboard, and twirled the chalk between his fingers like a pencil while also being careful not to smear the white lines he had just written. This was about to get interesting.

Ninura was actually doing very good in her classes. Maybe a bit too well? One of her teachers had recommended an "extra curricular test". This actually has her kind of interested. Though, she did expect this to be different from the run of the mill tests that she has taken so far.

Today, she was wearing her usual sleeveless white shirt with red tie and black jeans. The unadorned canteen latched into one of her belt loops, no design on it at all. No decals or even any initials. The Sunaku girl walked through the hallways of the Academy until she came across the door in which held the classroom to her extra curricular test.

She opened it with ease, as she looked around. The first thing she noticed was that all the chairs have been placed neatly on top of their respective desks. The next thing, or should she say person, she noticed, was a boy? He was obviously several years older than her, but he seemed to be leaning on the chalkboard. He had white hair, kind of like hers. And then she noticed the eyes. Purple ripples. She kind of wanted to fan girl just over the eyes alone. Purple was her favorite color. It always has been. Her canteen started to shake on its own, reacting to her earlier fan girl moment, the sand inside the canteen seemed to almost mimic.

After calming down, she noticed what was written on the board. Or rather drawn out. Lightning, rocks, water, fire, and arrows. It took her a few seconds to realize it is a ninjustu chakra nature chart. And those arrows, thats wind.

She looked back at the boy who was older than her, "Hello. I'm Sunaku Ninura. Where's the teacher?" The girl wondered if whatever this extra curricular test was, only two people were chosen for it, her and the older boy, then it must be one of those tests made to be hard, right?

Hearing the door handle rattle to begin with, followed by the sound of the slightly creaky hinges that held everything together, Ryu noticed the arrival of Ninura with little to no effort. Anyone could, really....this wasn't some kind of high-level operation where every tiny detail mattered. It was just a girl walking into a room.

With a glance, Ryu began to size up Ninura. Her chakra? Small. Her outfit? Impractical, but it could be casual wear. personality?....to be decided.

Ryu got up from the chalkboard, and without a word he went beside Ninura to close the door, and lock it with a small key.

"I'm the teacher." Ryu said plainly, throwing the keys onto the middle of the classroom.

"Let's keep this simple, Sunaku-san. My name is Akaime Ocha, and this is a lesson on elemental properties. Not exactly a 101, but a step or two above it." Ryu gave the girl his false genin name, as he usually did for people he didn't know well. After his talking, he snapped a finger, and the keys in the middle of the classroom began to float.

Then, as if it were a light show, several bubbles of different colored chakra gathered, and swirled over the keys, eventually layering themselves over each other in layers around the key to prevent anyone from simply grabbing them. Ryu walked over to the bubble of chakra he made, then looked to Ninura. No time to waste in situations like this, usually. When he was put into ANBU training it was similar to this situation as well, with a simple greeting before starting the lesson right away.

"This here is an advanced jutsu known as 'Nature's guard'. Well, at least five really weak versions of it." He said, pointing to the frail bubble-like barriers all inside one another with the keys in the center.

"If you can tell me what element a barrier is, their weakness, and why they have that weakness I'll dispel it. Get the keys inside and you can leave, and effectively pass."

With that he simply stood still, and silent. He gave the lesson, and enough knowledge up on the chalk board to do this. He saw no need to continue talking until need be. The outer layer of the barrier was a ruby red, and burned to the touch with swirls of an even darker crimson within it. The barriers within that one were all shrouded, and couldn't be seen well, so this would need to be done one step at a time.

The little Sunaku turned around to see the boy lock the door and throw the keys to the center of the room before claiming that he was the teacher. Somewhat skeptical of the situation, Ninura raised an eyebrow at the boy. Sure he had purple eyes, her favorite color, she won't be swayed by the beauty of the eyes.

Then the boy introduced themselves as Akaime Ocha, going with what today's lesson will be about. Elemental properties. But from what he's saying, probably not 101, but higher than that. He then snapped his fingers and the keys floated up and colourful bubbles enveloped the keys, making multiple layers.

Ocha then talked about what he just did was performed a justsu called Nature's Guard. But then went on to talk about how this is a weaker version of it. Five separate weaker versions of it to be exact.

He then said, if she can answer a simple question of what element a barrier is, what their weaknesses are, why they are like that, and then he'll dispel the justsu, thus letting her get the keys and get out.

Ninura walked over to the orb. Sand came out and gently touched the orb, in which case, her sand started to smoke a little bit and darken. Willing the sand to go back into the canteen, the Sunaku turned back to the chalkboard, studying the drawings.

She might have a hunch. "It really depends." Ninura said. "There are a lot of different types of barrier justsus full of different elements, whether they be base or advanced. But if we are talking about the original Barrier justsu, the initial answer is nonelemental. Why I say that, is because there are people born with the ability to manipulate chakra to make the element of a justsu, turn to something different. Like I can turn wind slice, its base element, into sand."

Second question, "Weaknesses with barriers. Well if we go with the ones that are elemental, they could be cancelled out, or more damage dealt to those barriers if a justsu that they are weak to hit them. Like a fire barrier justsu won't do well against a water attack justsu. And then there is the fact that some types of barriers only block certain damages. Like some can only withstand physical damages, will just let Genjustu pass it. Or a Genjustu based barrier, will let some physical damages through. Then there are techniques that have the power to deal a lot of damage to barriers, or even outright destroy them on some occasions. Techniques that have the special qualities of an off chance to do that kind of thing to barriers. Then there are some instances in which having a certain barrier up, will not allow you to do certain things. Like fight enemies up close, or having to use Genjustu instead of Ninjustu and taijustsu."

And third question... Hm... This one was actually one in which she really didn't know a valid answer to. "And as for the third part of your question, I honestly don't know. Maybe because there's only so much a person can focus in terms of trying to make it protect them, that if they focus on all the small things to have a perfect barrier to block all types of damages, it will ultimately be weak in of itself in terms of how much damage it could actually take?"

Ryu watched the girl control sand as if it were some kind of extra appendage, and raised a brow. Usually people with such power resided within Suna, or a tropical land with plenty of beaches. But cloud? That wasn't exactly an everyday power to see. Granted this was coming from someone with the rinnegan, but that didn't change his judgment on the situation.

Then, when she went on her tirade he just stood still, and stared at her in the eyes whenever her gaze went towards him. Her composure, and attitude when put on the spot lead Ryu to believe that she was more of a studious and knowledgeable type, which was always a good thing to see. Knowledge IS half of ninja art, after all.

When she finished her speech, Ryu gave it a think before taking a deep breath. "Okay. Not what I meant." He deadpan said, flicking his wrist, and using kinetic release chakra to have some chalk write a big F in the corner of the chalkboard.

"However, your knowledge of barriers is great. You just seemed to forget the point of the training. You remember me saying 'This is a lesson on elemental properties' don't you?" With that, the first layer of nature's guard vanished at Ryu's will, revealing that underneath the crimson barrier was a neon blue one, making a consistent humming sound and giving anyone who touches it a static shock.

"You'll be given extra credit for understanding the methods of barriers themselves, but for now I want you to focus. The first layer of nature's guard was a fire element. As you mentioned in your example, water beats fire and is one of the most obvious ones. However, Fire's reaction with water is an...interesting one. If a fire jutsu is strong enough it can nearly ignore water in it's entirety due to the water vaporizing before it can even get close." Ryu said, looking down at the ground to see stray grains of sand.

"Also note that none of the barriers holding the keys are an advanced element, Ninurana." He said, mispronouncing her name semi-intentionally to try and direct them away from the point of all this. Always a good thing to try and add some more trials, he always believed.

Ninura let out a small sigh as the older boy made a big F mark on the chalkboard. Meaning she failed. Something in her stirred, a little bit of frustration. But then she also remembered in one of her earlier classes. Miss Nozomi had told her to never give up. Never let one mistake be what defines her.

The Sunaku listened as the boy spoke. He talked about how the lesson is about elemental properties. The first layer of the orbs dissipated, leaving a new outer layer. Blue. And it was making noises, as if threatening someone to try to touch it. Lightning.

Even though there are elements with weaknesses, if one that is weak to another, but is a higher justsu, it could just ignore or even overcome the element it is weak to. He then talked about how none of the barriers in this nature's guard had any advanced elements.

Ninura walked up closer to the nature's guard, keeping her distance so that the electricity doesn't reach out to her. Slowly, she made hand seals, and moved her hands towards the sphere. Air was cut by an almost visible wind as it made its way to the electrified sphere.

Ryuichi looked at the neon blue bubble, and nodded as Ninura's wind jutsu caused it to fragment and fall apart like paper. "Good job." Ryuichi said, not even needing to dispel it himself.

"Wind jutsu is known for it's ability to shred enemies, and objects. Lightning's best trait is it's speed and precision. However, when a jutsu of that speed is used, one thing typically has the power to overwrite it...tearing it apart." Ryuichi said, holding up a one handed seal as lightning filled one hand.

"To demonstrate why, watch how this lightning jutsu acts once it starts to fall apart." With a flick of the wrist, the lightning covering his hand flew apart in all directions, careful not to harm Ninura. As the lightning began to separate, and be left alone, each piece of chakra fizzled, and eventually vanished like sparks. Once all were gone, Ryuichi continued.

"That's precisely why wind can completely negate the lightning element. With wind's ability to slice the lightning chakra, they start to diverge from the source, or the rest of the jutsu, effectively destroying it completely with minor effort."

Then he gestured to the bubble once more. The next barrier was a tough brown, and had the texture of stone. direct touch with it would notice that the sensation is much like touching moving sandpaper, and could cause harm with the enhanced jutsu.

"Just three to go, Ninura." He said, waiting to see if this girl had the means to destroy this barrier on her own.

Ninura had watched as the wind slice tore through the electrified barrier. In her eyes, it was a success. A small one, but still a success. And it seemed the older boy was at least somewhat happy with how she handled the barrier.

She watched him talk, as lightning filled his hand. He mainly talked of why lightning was weak to wind. And then, electricity filled the air around her. Instinctively, her sand came out of the canteen to protect her. And then the lightning hit her sand, but then vanished. An eyebrow was raised, until she remembered back to reading about the particular sand element. And what it was made of.

She kind of missed what he had said, but caught on that he was still talking of why wind was lightnings weakness. He then gestured to her back at the sphere, this time, it was brown, and rough to the touch. Almost like it was stone... Ninura thought back at only a few moments ago, when the lightning, that didn't seem to go her way, suddenly did when her sand came up. But also mainly left her sand unharmed. The part of the Sand element that makes lightning weak against it is wind... And the part that is weak against lightning... Is earth.

The Sunaku turned her attention back to the stone orb, making the necessary hand seals. Electricity ran through two of her fingers as she pointed them at the stone orb. Releasing the Storm bolt, she watches as it hits against the earth orb.

"Again, well done." Ryuichi said with a small nod. The next orb was a much more soothing blue than the lightning one prior, looking much smoother and calm. At a glance one would think that this orb was full of water, yet the last bubble and the keys would clearly be seen inside.

Before Ryu let her continue, he went to the teacher's desk and sat on it as if it were a chair, with his long coat covering most of it's surface. "The interaction between lightning and earth may not be as complicated, but as you would expect it's still important. One thing earth prides itself in is it's solid defensive stature, and rock solid attacks..." He paused, feeling his left arm using his right hand, as if remembering something. Not wanting to linger much longer he continued. "The lightning element, however, is excellent at piercing attacks. Because of this, something like earth which uses solid material, would get cut through with ease, while more....'fluid' elements could theoretically warp around the lightning's piercing attacks."

With a nod, he gestured to continue. Nothing more needed to be said here, so he simply didn't.

Again, Ninura was right. The lightning shattered the earth orb as if it was nothing. only two left, she thought to herself, looking at the blue orb, one that seemed more... Nice. There was yet another bubble, and she could finally see the keys. At least this could mean that she'll be getting out of this room soon. Granted, the boy had beautiful purple eyes, he's somewhat a bit weird, and locking her in a room with him isn't all that good of a first impression.

She looked and listened as the boy talked more. Still kind of hard to wrap her head around the fact that this boy is supposed to be a teacher. He almost casually, almost too comfortably sat on the teachers desk. But since the boy seemed to be at least trying to help her learn more about not just barriers, but elements as well, it'd be best to listen on.

There was a slight pause, almost like an awkward silence, before the boy found words to speak again of teaching her. After talking about how lightning is perfect for cutting through the earth element, he then gestured her to continue.

She thought of a reason to try and tackle this situation. From what she can see, they already went through three elements that have already gone through the barriers. Water, wind, and Lightning. Which only leaves two left. Earth and fire. And like the boy talked about how fire is weak to water, it will mainly lose. Unless of course, it is a strong enough fire justsu.

And from how the orb that she is seeing now, it seems like a water element orb. So... If she is correct... "Once I get rid of this orb with Earth Element. What is left is the wind orb, right? And it will be destroyed by the fire element."

Making hand seals, Ninura let the shards, from the destroyed earth orb, float up, and pierce into the Water sphere. Stone bullet. She only stopped, mainly to see if she was right about if the last orb was indeed the wind orb. Or if the boy had pulled a fast one on her and changed the final orb to be different than what it once was.

Ryu didn't move much at all while the girl threw him a question then split the water orb in two with a stone bullet. He simply closed his eyes, and thought for a moment before snapping a finger.

"You aren't entirely wrong about fire beating wind, but also...not entirely right." He said, opening his violet eyes again. "To start, water has trouble against earth because it's a liquid, and instead of warping around the earth, like fire or wind, it's sent flying in all directions...think of it like blocking a sink's running water with the curved part of a spoon." With that, Ryu gave a flick of the wrist to use kinetic infusion on a piece of chalk to demonstrate by drawing a stone, and a high-pressure water jet hitting it's side, flying around it in a cone shape.

"That sand you use. With enough focus I have no doubt it'll have the same effect on water, by compacting the sand hard enough. However, be careful because if a water jutsu IS strong enough to break through say, a barrier.....you wouldn't be nearly equipped enough to handle whatever's left of it."

Next, Ryu used the chakra-infused chalk to draw a flame at the bottom of the board. "Next, fire's interaction with wind, and why it's one of the most favorable elements for heavy balistic specialist ninja." He paused, before standing up. With a few hand seals, and a hand on the ground, the room was soon filled with smoke.

When it cleared, a small blue otter was standing in the room with them, with a facial expression that was far from happy. Annoyance, perhaps?

The otter looked to Ninura, then Ryu. "Say, boss. What did you need?" It said with it's high-pitched, but rough voice.

Ryu spent a few seconds to explain to the otter about the lesson, and that they needed to demonstrate the interaction between fire and wind release. With a slightly upset sigh at the idea of being summoned for something so boring, the otter used the only fire jutsu in it's arsenal, thermal maw which was generally used to start fires. At the same time, wind began to surround the rikkudo boy, and spun at an alarming rate while somehow not affecting the area around him.

"You see Ninura, while the other elements are very cut and dry, fire is an exception to most rules. One could say that the elemental interactions don't matter with enough skill, like how a jet of water can become so strong it cuts through earth, or how electricity can have a chakra amount that leaves it unaffected by wind style's cuts. However, with wind and fire....no matter the power of the wind jutsu, it will always be fuel for the fire. This means that in some cases, it can turn enemy fire jutsu against them, or....just make the fire stronger."

With that, the otter, named Mizuko, blew the fire towards Ryu, and the wind chakra around him ignited, swirling and creating a burning pillar in the middle of the class while somehow preventing any actual fire damage happening to the room. While Ryu's body could no longer be seen in the fire, his glowing purple eyes made a faint outline that could be seen from the outside.

Once the fire cleared, the chalk began to move again. The F on the board was marked off, and was replaced with an A- with an underline. Ryu let the chalk drop back where it belonged, and the final green bubble of wind vanished, letting the keys drop to the floor.

"But, you passed regardless. Good job." Ryu said, as the otter nodded. The thing walked towards Ninura, and held out a hand. "The name's Mizuko! Pleasure to help!" it said with a joyous, and loving smile.

"Don't shake it's paw."
"Boss!"
"It's a trap."
"It's....not..."
"No doubt it's covered in permanent ink, or a electric buzzer tag."
"NO! IT'S NOT!"
"..."
"..."
"..."
"It's itching powder."
"right."

With Ryu unsummoning the rodent, he simply reached into his coat. "As a reward, take this." He said, pulling out a slip of paper saying "Free pastry good, and tea refill!"

"There's a great teahouse beside the colloseum. Check it out sometime. Ignore the rumors of it being an ANBU hideout, though. It's all completely baseless." He said with the lie at the end. No doubt if either of his team mates, or teacher were around they'd slap him for making a comment like that.

Regardless, the boy made a bit of a glorious exit as he had another path outside the door reverse-summon him to leave the room with a poof of purple smoke.

Now Ninura was left in the locked classroom with the key, and a coupon for a teahouse on the floor....

Ninura listened once more as the boy made a little speech of the whole thing of why the conflicts with the fire and wind elements are different than that of the other conflicts with the other elements. He then proceeded to summon a blue otter and made it basically shoot fire at him, as he had gusts of wind surrounding him.

Flames engulfed him, making it look like one of those flaming tornadoes Ninura has seen in movies. But the heat. It was real, and it was intense. She instinctively brought a hand up, as if to try to block, also bringing up her sand to protect her. But in the middle of this mini fire tornado, she seen the boy's purple eyes.

The otter was funny, and she wanted to shake its hand, but the boy recommended otherwise. Good thing too. She did not want to be all itchy and scratchy after this class. The boy then proceeded to give her a piece of paper, a kind of coupon to go to a place for free food. Then the weird part happened. He said that to ignore rumors of the place being an ANBU hideout, because it is baseless.

"Excuse me but..." Her voice trailed off as the boy poofed away in purple smoke. "Such a weird boy. Beautiful eyes. But weird boy." Ninura said to herself, as she picked up the keys and unlocked the door to go out.
