Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

It had been a long time since he had set foot inside the Fire Country. His job was to serve as an Ambassador to Leaf, representing Sand and its people as the Peace Treaty was signed by the Hokage. Manzo, a Leaf ANBU had safely escorted the Senju Overlord during their journey from the Wind Country to the Fire Country, but Reaper could not go immediately toward the gates of Konohagakure. He had to make a stop somewhere else first. The last time he had been inside the borders of the Fire Country, Leaf was being evacuated by all living shinobi, fleeing for their lives due to the Red Rain Kinjutsu and the Fire Daimyo's samurai armies. Many valiant men and woman fell during that skirmish, many Senju were also slain back then. Unfortunately, given the manner of how he had exited the country last time, the White Wolf was never given the chance to properly honor all those lost lives, especially those of his own clan. After being left alone, the Shadow Sword would search for a secluded place among the forests near Konohagakure. He would kneel and he would place both hands on the grassy ground. He would shut his black irised eyes, but his remaining senses would remain fully alert. His connection to the natural environment would also, hopefully, give him decent warning if someone was to approach him while he was occupied.

Mustering his chakra and using his earthen and wooden affinity, the Occult Sennin would begin weaving chakra in a masterful way. Inch by inch, a construction that was both parts stone and wood, would begin to grow in front of the Death Court Lord. Little beads of sweat would gather up on his forehead, something rarely seen. He would eventually stop channeling his chakra and with a tired sigh, he would stand up to admire what he had crafted. In front of him stood a tree made of obsidian rock. The branches had hundreds of leaves made of imperishable wood. While the trunk and branches had no markings, each leaf had an inscription. Each one had a different name, one for each Leaf shinobi that had fallen at the hands of the Fire Daimyo. Among the leaves, there would be a several that were different, being crimson red. Those belonged to fallen Senju. "Finally! It is done."

She was looking for him. The Sennin Senju Kazuki would not be difficult to find, not because he has done anything foolish but because he was unique and well-known. There were few that were so pallid and stern dressed in such formal, traditional attire. Once Michi and Senju Natsuru passed into Fire Country they would stop in the towns that dotted the countryside and the Oracle would ask if there was a man matching the Sennin's description in addition to the fact that he may or may not have exude a terrible chill as he passed through. She was occasionally given affirmation that he did indeed pass, after all he had nothing to hide. It was a foolish sentiment but she felt a tick of resentment towards him. She had learned a long time ago that she had to fear everything and everyone. Friends are made only to betray and there was nobody she could depend on was her masters and their mercy was rare. This did not seem to be the case for the Senju clansman. She could not lie but she could cover his jealousy and anxiety by telling stories, one after another of various kings and gods. They were old tales from books it was unlikely Natsuru had read, it did not matter as the former Cabalist had caught onto the fact that Natsuru was not listening some time ago but speaking gave her an odd sense of comfort.

Michi and Natsuru eventually caught up to him, they were only a few hours behind according to the last one that confirmed his passage. They were making good time in the wagon and he was on foot. What they gave was an imperfect description but it was never perfect. It was right enough that she knew that they were on the correct path. So they would travel on, through the narrow and dusty streets and the open countryside until they reached a true curiosity. It was a tree. The symbolism would be lost on Michi. Kazuki had never shared his family legacy, in fact he never shared much with her. All the same, she could see it growing. Was there a curious battle on the horizon? She knew that Kazuki was near, perhaps there.

"Something is happening," she would draw Natsuru's attention to the tree if she had not already noticed or if she was sleeping. She would snap the reins and the team of sandrunners would enter a brisk trot.

"They might have already found him," she reasoned verbalizing her fear. She snapped the reins again.

Her eyes would watch as the branches would extend and black leaves would burden the massive creation, blotting out a portion of the sky. What was it? She wanted to know. She would take a notebook from her bag as the sandrunners increased their pace to a gallop. She would fling pens and rope to the side as she riffled through the contents until she found that leather-bound tome. She would speed-draw the strange scene with photo-realism over the course of a few seconds before she clapped the book closed. She could see someone as the book snapped shut.

When they were close enough she would see a solitary figure. From this distance she was not entirely certain it was Kazuki but whoever he was, he was looking at the tree with his back to them. She had to wonder if this was a trick. Was there someone really there? Was that Kazuki? Why was there a giant tree? There was no way that anyone could have known that they were coming before they arrived. Could they? Her eyes would scan the grassy area. Was there someone hidden? Was he bait? "Wait Senju," she would whisper harshly begging Natsuru to stay with her a little longer. "Someone made that tree," yes it was quite obvious but why? "This might be a trick. Wait!" She begged.

It was a good idea... to wait that is. To make absolutely certain that Kazuki was there alone or not and that they were not walking into a trap. That Kazuki himself was going to respond to them positively. That Kazuki was not in a peril that they would worsen.

It was the right idea.

But...

Then again she brought Natsuru along.

Surprisingly enough it wasn't that hard to find an inidividual with a cold aura of death around him as quite a few random people remembered feeling an unnerving chill all of a sudden. In a way she was surprised that her brother had made no real attempt to hide it. In a way that gave her a little bit more information. He believed that there was no reason to hide his presence here. Whilst proud he wasn't stupid. He had to have a reason to believe that. At the same time there was always the risk of everything going south quickly. They were, after all, traitors in a way, shinobi who had abandoned their village and not returned as quickly as possible.

She lost herself in thought for a while, allowing Michi to lead the way without any input for now. At least until her eyes fell on something rather peculiar just as her companion tried to grab her attention. "I see it and I frankly didn't expect anything else. We're caught up."<i></i> Natrusu would nod. The creation was more than obvious to her and frankly there was very few people remaining on this land who would dare to do anything of the sort. "Unlikely for now. Many wouldn't know what it is."<i></i>

Natsu would grab the reigns as Michi seemed much more interested in documenting the occurence than keeping them from crashing into something stupidly. She would quickly form a single handseal, focusing chakra into her eyes, the veins around them bulging as her irises became unforcused, empty. This ability was trully a blessing. "Hold this."<i></i> The Senju would pass the reigns back as she focused on scanning the area and the figure.

It was Kazuki for sure, which she already knew, but for the time being there was nobody else nearby. That would likely change quickly with the rahter obvious use of a rather humongous use of chakra. "Seems like Kazuki. The chakra structure is his."<i></i> Natsuru would add after a few moments as the two stopped. She would hop off the carriage. "I'm sure obsidian-black trees are just a normal occurence. We saw like fifty of them on the way here."<i></i> The kunoichi would sigh as she turned to face Michi side on, unbuttoning her undershirt just enough to expose the top half of her left breast, which bore the Senju brand, a obsidian-black tree with a sword sticking out of it. "Seem familiar?"<i></i> Natsu would note, buttoning her shirt up just a few moments later. She would shift her attention to her head once more, the image of the seven gates appearing once again as she slammed the very first one open, her body disappearing suddenly and appearing a few meters away in a completely different direction.

As sure as she was there was no reason not to be cautious. Michi would be an interesting thing to show Kazuki, but for now it might be best to leave her there. After all it was hard to hide from the Byakugan. She wasn't worried about her escaping.

Natsuru would begin her approach, body flickering twice more before slowling her approach to a walk, the thin crimson layer of chakra still covering her body, an indication to Kazuki as to who she was. "Could have at least left a note."<i></i> She would state coldly. "It can be quite scary for your only relative to disappear like that."<i></i>

Kazuki would feel their presence before any of them could reach him. It is said that Ancients have the ability to feel each other, even if such ability is crude. Being half Ancient, the Senju Overlord share such ability with that primeval race of the Wind Country. Michi, the female once known as Fuu, had been made a hybrid by Mikaboshi. Perhaps she was not aware of the link, but it was there and the White Wolf could feel it. The other woman was not an Ancient Hybrid, but the Shadow Sword would recognize her anywhere and in any circumstance. He would place both hands behind his back, in a posture of utter confidence and power, something the Elder Shadow had the habit of doing. He would not turn around thus he would not see how the younger Senju would approach him, utilizing a technique only accessible to those with the ability to open the chakra gates. If he had seen it, he would be very proud of his younger sister. ”Could have left a note. It can be quite scary for your only relative to disappear like that.” the Hyuuga would coldly note once she was in hearing range.

Reaper would listen to those words, he would notice the ice in them, but he would turn around nor he would immediately answer anything. He continued watching the tree he had just created, perhaps giving time for Michi to approach them. ”Then now you know what it feels like.” the Occult Sennin would calmly declare. His voice did not denote anything but calmness and, in fact, he was not trying to be snide with that remark not he tried to exact any kind of revenge with his actions. He left Sunagakure with a mission, a short one hopefully, Natsuru was stay in Sand until his return, to consolidate her presence there, perhaps even enlist into Sunagakure’s official lists. ”Who raised us and why?” he would calmly question after finally turning around to face his sister. His voice was a perfect replica of the emotions shown over the Death Court Lord’s face. He was perfectly calm. Her presence there did not bother him at all, even though it was a complete surprise. He was, actually, curious to know why she had followed his steps. ”Why are you here Natsuru?” Kazuki would inquire.

”It has been a long time since I have seen you Fuu, or should I still keep calling you Michi? When did Mikaboshi loosen his leash on your neck?” the Senju Overlord would inquire, addressing the other female assuming she had drawn near already. ”I am glad to see you are free though, but I have to ask you why are you here?” he would further ask. That was the big question to be answered there, why were those two there. Why did they follow him

Her plea to cease, to think would fall onto deaf ears as Natsuru rushed off to Kazuki. There was no way that either of them could be wholly certain that there was not something terrible waiting for them. It was illogical to assume otherwise considering the world that they lived in but she dashed off. Michi had no way of knowing that this was a trap but she also had nothing to say that this was not a trap and she only needed to be wrong once. They would be of no use if they were caught or killed. She would let out a disgruntled sigh, it was a pragmatic but honest conclusion that she would know soon enough that it was a trap because Natsuru would get herself killed. She would wait in the carriage driver seat until Natsuru addressed Kazuki, she would watch for non-verbals of distress from either. The Sennin appeared to be indifferent to her presence.

She would hop off the driver's seat and duck between the team of sandrunners as she made her way towards Kazuki, her hand hovering over her weapon. "We meet again Sennin Senju Kazuki," she stopped ten feet from the duo as her inquisitive eyes scanned them both. She did not know Kazuki's relative all that well, they had only met at the genesis of this adventure that she hoped would be dull and without incident.

”It has been a long time since I have seen you Fuu, or should I still keep calling you Michi? When did Mikaboshi loosen his leash on your neck?”

Kazuki could not seem to hold back a cutting remark. She did not expect a friendly tête-à-tête with an old comrade. "Still angry Sennin Senju," she observed. At least she knew it was him. "Fuu is dead, you know that," she added grimly. Just as some harbored resentment towards her for verbally assailing them for their lack of intervention against the Diamyo, she begrudged them for repudiating her warnings. Mikaboshi ended her misery. Her heart never stopped beating but parts of what made the Oracle who she was were burned away when her fetters were shattered by the Deep Court Lord.

”I am glad to see you are free though, but I have to ask you why are you here?”

"Almost the right question Sennin Senju," she replied. "I came to stop you because you are in danger," she announced. "And you are in danger because you are in Fire Country." She stepped closer, "and if you enter Kohonagakure it is probable that you will not be allowed to return. Please return with me to Wind Country." She was absolutely serious about her statement, her hand resting now on the hilt of her weapon. She would make certain that he returned before they dug their claws into him. "You know as well as I that you held a position of prominence in this country not only as a clansman but also as a leader. You know what they did to defectors and you know that they would expect you to stay. No... 'expect' is not the right word, they would 'ensure' it. Your liberty and possibly your life will be forfeit if you do not absquatulate." She had made her way around him, she would endeavor to look at his face, to inquire if his expression betrayed his thoughts or if he was being compelled.

She would attempt to place her left hand on his chest, her right near her sheathed weapon. "Do you wish to return here and live out your days in Fire Country?" It was a simple, direct question and she was attempting to feel his heart. The heart had an enduring rhythm but it changed when under duress. Was he in distress? She went through a great deal of effort to find him, "I am willing to accept my efforts as a loss if this is where your heart is." Yes, she was going to let him look the other way if this was Kazuki running, if this was him trying to be free. She would not lie for him, she could not but she was not going to stop him. However, if he was being forced or compelled, well that was what her blade was for.

"I didn't exactly have a choice that time around."<i></i> She would shrug, allowing the gate to slam shut as her chakra retreated back within her body. Frankly it was quite harsh of him to say that. A concussion to the point of not even knowing who she was easily did that to somebody. "Rather harsh of you to say as well, considering it took a while to find you after that."<i></i> Natsuru would note, her expression growing neutral underneath her mask. It really was no surprise that he knew exactly which nerve to hit in order to elicit a response from her. One of the few rather hidden red buttons she had in a way. Not the biggest one at all, but getting there.

"Checking game? I'll oblige. Uncle Tadao. Kind of necessary due to the kindness of our parents."<i></i> Natsu would note, pulling her mask down to reveal her face, not that he didn't know who she was. The answer should also be quite sufficient to identify herself. She would decide to ignore his second question for the time being, shrugging and glancing over to her travel companion, placing her in centre stage in a way. "For a marriage interview?"<i></i> She would finally add, not being able to resist a light joke.

The kunoichi would patiently wait for Michi to finish her explanation, allowing for a brief pause before she decided to share her point of view. "I swear she is literally like a female version of you. A ridiculously chatty one, but that is besides the point."<i></i> She would shrug before continuing. [glow]"Decided to follow the stalker and overheard some interesting tidbits."[/glow] Natsu would begin counting out on her right hand. "Some form of possiblity for your injury; Recovery of said injured remains; Visit to Konoha, which is not the kindest place to missing shinobi like us; Possibility of a trap."<i></i> The Senju would stop counting with a light shrug. "And I was bored. Good enough for you?"<i></i> She would finally shut up, glancing between the two. Then there was also that other mess.... the one she would rather avoid telling him about quite yet. That would be its own thing.

"I didn't exactly have a choice that time around. Rather harsh of you to say as well, considering it took a while to find you after that." Natsuru would rebuke Kazuki's words. The Senju Overlord believed he had just sensed a tone of annoyance an his sister's voice, indicating he had struck a nerve. He was, perhaps, one of the few in the world, that always knew how to tick her off. It came with the territory of their relationship. "Checking game? I'll oblige. Uncle Tadao. Kind of necessary due to the kindness of our parents." she would answer the White Wolf's checkpoints and lowered her mask finally revealing her face. The Shadow Sword would nod, her answers were correct. It was her. "For a marriage interview?" She would finally add though she wasn't exactly answer his inquiry to say the least. The other female would reach them eventually. "We meet again Sennin Senju Kazuki," she would greet the Shadow Sword. She had stopped around ten feet from them and her hand was hovering the hilt of her sheathed weapon. "Still angry Sennin Senju. Fuu is dead, you know that." the Oracle would note after hearing Reaper's remark about her allegiance to Mikaboshi.

"Almost the right question Sennin Senju. I came to stop you because you are in danger. And you are in danger because you are in Fire Country." she would announce before getting closer to the Deep Court Hybrid. "and if you enter Kohonagakure it is probable that you will not be allowed to return. Please return with me to Wind Country." the woman formerly known as Fuu would declare as her hand touched her weapon's hilt, something the Death Court Lord did not fail to spot. There would be a sudden increase of air pressure as shadows began congregating around Reaper's right hand. Eventually a black bladed sword would materialize and Natsuru would certainly recognize Frostmourne. The White Wolf would allow the sword to drop, easily piercing the ground. "You know as well as I that you held a position of prominence in this country not only as a clansman but also as a leader. You know what they did to defectors and you know that they would expect you to stay. No... 'expect' is not the right word, they would 'ensure' it. Your liberty and possibly your life will be forfeit if you do not absquatulate." she would conclude her thoughts, now standing in front of the Senju Overlord. "Do you wish to return here and live out your days in Fire Country?" Michi would inquire as her left hand made contact with Kazuki's pale chest. The Shadow Sword guessed what she was trying to pull, it was a classic emotional detector. She was going to monitor his heart rate as he answered and judge his words based on it. "I am willing to accept my efforts as a loss if this is where your heart is." she would further add before the Occult Sennin had been given the opportunity to say anything. Of course, the Deep Court Hybrid no longer had a heart to begin with. She would still feel a pulse but it was not being generated by a normal heart. His chest had an open hole where the chest is usually located. A icy hole with a beating, fiery core, a remnant of deal he had made with the Youkai contract.

"I swear she is literally like a female version of you. A ridiculously chatty one, but that is besides the point." the Hyuuga would complain, further delaying any response from Kazuki. [glow]"Decided to follow the stalker and overheard some interesting tidbits. Some form of possibility for your injury; Recovery of said injured remains; Visit to Konoha, which is not the kindest place to missing shinobi like us; Possibility of a trap. And I was bored. Good enough for you?"[/glow] The Senju Overlord would listen but he would remain silent even though he had all the chances of speaking now. His heart rate remained steady ever since Michi touched his chest. He was purposefully prolonging the Jounin's physical contact with him because he was studying how the Oracle would react to it. Eventually he would shake his head. "It seems your tutelage with Roku is being fruitful. You can open one chakra gate at least. Never had any doubts you would do it." he would note before he finally addressed the woman formally known as Fuu. "I have no desire to rejoin the ranks of Konohagakure nor to live there for the rest of my life time, no matter how long it can be." he would state, his heart rate steady as a rock.

"I am here on a mission. Takeshi, a Sennin from Leaf, stroke a peace treaty with Sousuke. In that meeting I was appointed Ambassador by him, admittedly, against his own wishes and it is why I am here. To close the deal, nothing more." he would further reveal before pointing to the tree that stood behind him. "Do you know what that is? Take a closer look to the leaves. Do you see the inscriptions?" he would ask them. If they were to get close to the tree, they would see each leaf had name. "Each leaf represents a fallen comrade when Leaf fell at the hands of the Fire Daimyo. One for each of them. It is incredible how no one honored all those men and women that fought valiantly to preserve our freedom and our former home." he would explain just in case there was any doubts.

OC: Sorry for the delay

IC:
Microexpressions. Nervous and restless ticks. How you stand and how you sit. Where you rest your gaze. What you say. Without knowing someone these can tell so much about them. Painful, shameful and hurtful topics often cause one to avert their gaze and the prideful would try to look past the speaker, perhaps over the shoulder. Emotions are often most pronounced in the things we do, not the things we say. Their relationship was strange, not entirely logical. Kazuki failed to conform to basic social constructs seen in a sibling relationship. The excitement or interest seemed to be one-sided, not that he was unhappy or at least she did not perceive him as unhappy but rather as indifferent to her pursuit. Banter consisted of minor jabs common more among acquaintances than friends.

"For a marriage interview?"

She did not initially respond to the statement, she did not want to point out Natsuru's unfortunate fixation on her brother. Her interests in his romantic endeavors were unusual. Perhaps it was based on a desire to antagonize him much like he prodded her as a form of sibling rivalry. Off behavior none-the less. "You do not seem the type to concern yourself with amative dealings Sennin Senju but she has a capacious interest in your love life," she explained, it was likely some sort of misplaced 'crush.' Every family does indeed have their drama. She was not here for that of course, she would greet him and explain the peril he was in. A dangerous situation that he seemed careless enough to walk into.

"I swear she is literally like a female version of you. A ridiculously chatty one, but that is besides the point."

She subconsciously shook her head. They were nothing alike. He was a male Sennin with an apparent silver tongue that was capable of placing himself in positions of power in every community he entered. She was the last (as far as she was aware) Oracle who has attempted to hide from the limelight all these years with relative success because there are not many that know her name or face even to this day. "We are both hybrids I suppose," she conceded.

"Decided to follow the stalker and overheard some interesting tidbits. Some form of possibility for your injury; Recovery of said injured remains; Visit to Konoha, which is not the kindest place to missing shinobi like us; Possibility of a trap. And I was bored. Good enough for you?"

"That would cover it," Michi shrugged, at least her warning was reinforced.

"It seems your tutelage with Roku is being fruitful. You can open one chakra gate at least. Never had any doubts you would do it."

And the idiot did not even seem to care. Wait Roku? The color would drain from her face as she looked over at Kazuki's sister and her fingertips and lips would feel numb. "Sennin Roku?" she confirmed. She took a breath as she stepped away from Natsuru. "Sennin Six is not a good man." Her voice dropped as she said it, she was giving them a dire warning. A warning to get away from the monster while they had a chance. She was not hiding this fact, there was no reason to. Her hands shook. Perhaps her trust in Kazuki's sister was premature.

Would that mean she would have to fight them both? She would plan her hand on Kazuki's chest and feel for the steady beat, to learn its cadence. It was slow.

"I have no desire to rejoin the ranks of Konohagakure nor to live there for the rest of my life time, no matter how long it can be."

There were no changes. She would feel the hollow but she would not comment on that. She did not see any seals on him but they were not always obvious. She would nod and wait for him to say more, she was watching his eyes. Some would call the eyes the windows to the soul, she was not nearly as superstitious but she did agree that eyes became restless when a lie is told.

"I am here on a mission. Takeshi, a Sennin from Leaf, stroke a peace treaty with Sousuke. In that meeting I was appointed Ambassador by him, admittedly, against his own wishes and it is why I am here. To close the deal, nothing more."

"And you believe him?" Michi asked but it was a rhetorical question. "Sennin Takeshi has no reason to offer a peace treaty, our villages are not at war. You are being manipulated Sennin Senju," Michi warned. "A non-aggression pact is the term for what you should be signing. A treaty between our villages that states that we promise to not engage in military action against each other or our signatories." She pointed out the inconsistency, there no reason for him to sign a peace treaty. "Even if there is a silent war or simply a misspoken term, why would you serve as the Kazekage's proxy when he can write his name as well as you?" Her voice was wavering as she gave her warning. "And why must you make this journey, without confidant or comrade to this country to sign a paper you could have signed back in Sunagakure?" It did not make sense for him to come. It did not make sense for him to be here. "They are leading you back here," she handed him the conclusion she was leading him to.

"Do you know what that is? Take a closer look to the leaves. Do you see the inscriptions?"

He was referring to the tree.

"Each leaf represents a fallen comrade when Leaf fell at the hands of the Fire Daimyo. One for each of them. It is incredible how no one honored all those men and women that fought valiantly to preserve our freedom and our former home."

She would life her hand from his chest. "You are not paying attention," he was changing the subject. "They have baited you here and you took the lure." She insisted, "You had a leadership role in both Leaf and Stone. When Leaf fell, you found a place in Iwa but you left Iwagakure. You were one of theirs and they will hunt you for that. What makes you believe that you have not already been hunted? It is easier to catch the fox when it is already in a rabbit's burrow than it is in the woods. The walls are going to get tight and they will come for you." It is quite possible that they would attempt to entice him to stay with a position of power or prestige. That they would try to appeal to his sentiments, she would eye the tree, and he was rather maudlin. "They will either force your compliance or they will manipulate you. You are emotionally compromised." Someone needed to tell him. Someone needed to warn him although there was one question never asked -- why does she care?

"It is not safe. Run Sennin."

"I'd rather not discuss too much, but it has been quite the hot and sweaty experience."<i></i> She would note. "I am Senju after all. Was there any doubts?"<i></i> Natsu would ask rhetorically, fully expecting her brother to actually respond to it.

Frankly she didn't really have much to add anymore. Her messing with things would only end up annoying Kazuki more than anything else. If push to shove came it was more than obvious what would end up happening to this situation. It wasn't that everything Michi was saying was wrong, far from it. Both herself and Kazuki were essentially missing ninja when one considered everything. They had access to information that was important and could compromise quite a fair few facilities within the village, well that is if it was anything similar to what it used to be once. If one considered that the vast majority of the population was no longer among the living then it was quite unlikely they were remembered at all or ecen if tehy were the chances of somebody going after them were quite slim. On the other hand if they were to present themselves on a platter then it would be a whole other game.

There was some truth to it really. Natsuru would let out a prolonged huff, turning her direction to the tree before quickly jumping up to one of the branches, having spotted what she was after with her still active Byakugan. It really was quite useful for such things. She would gently raise her hand, cupping the single leaf with her left. Hasegawa Mana. Her one friend, one which she missed dearly even after all this time had passed. As sad as the thought of her being dead was it had been far too long. "I wouldn't say Kazuki is alone anymore. I'm fairly confident we can deal with any situation that would arrise with the sheer amount of firepower present."<i></i> Natsu would finally add, her back still turned towards them. She would finish pausing for a few moments. "At least they have finally been properly honoured. They deserve at least this much after all they did . I miss them. If you do wish to visit Konoha I would like to accompany you. We might not be that welcome and I would have some peace of mind if I was nearby in case you needed my assistance. Is there any problems with that, overlord?<i></i> The former kunoichi would ask, more out of courtesy than anything else. She was planning to follow whatever his response was and he knew that much without a shadow of a doubt.

"You do not seem the type to concern yourself with amative dealings Sennin Senju but she has a capacious interest in your love life," Michi would note upon hearing Natsuru's remark she was there for a marriage interview. "You are not telling me something I am not aware off." Kazuki would note as he eyed his sister for a brief moment. Her strange fixation about himself, her intense and weird love about her brother was unnatural. Yes, they loved each other, but she was far too deep into a road few would ever be comfortable with and the Senju Overlord was not one of those. Family was very important but family is just family and not something else. Still, the Hyuuga was much tamer nowadays than she was when they were in Konoha, something the White Wolf was thankful for. "We are both hybrids I suppose," the last Oracle would concede upon hearing she was the female version of Reaper. The Shadow Sword would shook his head. They were both hybrids, correct, but they were not the same. She had been turned into one while the Occult Sennin had been born as one, although his Ancient side had been laid dormant for a good portion of his life. "We may be both hybrids but our origin is not the same. You were forced into one while I was not." the Death Court Lord would reason. Something, perhaps, the omniscient Fuu did not know.

"I'd rather not discuss too much, but it has been quite the hot and sweaty experience. I am Senju after all. Was there any doubts?" the former Leaf Medic would question. No, there was none. Kazuki had never doubted of Natsuru's prowess and skill, unlike their parents. "No, never. I know what you can do and you never cease to amaze me." the Senju Overlord would compliment his sister. But while both he and her were content with Roku's tutelage, there was someone else that wasn't. "Sennin Six is not a good man." the Deep Court Hybrid would warn them. The White Wolf would give her a weird look. He was aware of what Roku could pull off, he had fought alongside the man and he knew about the Sennin's exploits against Mother Suna. He was malleable just like the Sovereign. A strange coincidence it would be, were it not for the fact, Roku had been created, or at least, tampered with by Nao. "I know. We all are but as long as the Kazekage trusts him, so shall I. If he ever breaks my confidence, I will break him." he would admit. He trusted Roku and Reaper did not deal with breaks of trust that well.

"Sennin Takeshi has no reason to offer a peace treaty, our villages are not at war. You are being manipulated Sennin Senju. A non-aggression pact is the term for what you should be signing. A treaty between our villages that states that we promise to not engage in military action against each other or our signatories. Even if there is a silent war or simply a misspoken term, why would you serve as the Kazekage's proxy when he can write his name as well as you? And why must you make this journey, without confidant or comrade to this country to sign a paper you could have signed back in Sunagakure? They are leading you back here," Michi would warn him. Her reasoning was logical, but she was not aware of the entire picture. "First of all, Konohagakure did not offer a peace treaty, they have offered an alliance, which was refused. The Kazekage agreed with signing what was labeled as a Peace Treaty. Leaf does not interfere with Sand just as much as Sunagakure does not interfere with them. An amicable relationship at best with a promise of not waging war against each other. Second, I am serving as his proxy because I have made him appoint me as Ambassador, given I was the most logical pick. Third, I am never alone." the White Wolf would explain. He did not need to explain anything but given she had went the lengths of traversing to another country just to try and deter him, she was deserving something, to say the least.

"I wouldn't say Kazuki is alone anymore. I'm fairly confident we can deal with any situation that would arrise with the sheer amount of firepower present. I am no slouch and the overlord is much more capable than myself. You I have no clue about, but you should have at least some use." Natsuru would add after climbing the tree and gently caressing a wooden leaf. Kazuki did not have to look to know what tree she had chosen. Hasegawa Mana. They had become close friends during their tenure in Konohagakure. "You are not paying attention. They have baited you here and you took the lure. You had a leadership role in both Leaf and Stone. When Leaf fell, you found a place in Iwa but you left Iwagakure. You were one of theirs and they will hunt you for that. What makes you believe that you have not already been hunted? It is easier to catch the fox when it is already in a rabbit's burrow than it is in the woods. The walls are going to get tight and they will come for you. They will either force your compliance or they will manipulate you. You are emotionally compromised." Fuu would further warn him. "It is not safe. Run Sennin." "Run?" the Occult Sennin would repeat. "I do not run." he would declare. "At least they have finally been properly honoured. They deserve at least this much after all they did . I miss them. If you do wish to visit Konoha I would like to accompany you. We might not be that welcome and I would have some peace of mind if I was nearby in case you needed my assistance. Is there any problems with that, overlord? the Hyuuga would interject before Kazuki could say anything else.

"Enough. Even though I have a letter from the Hokage, a man I placed in that position to begin with, pardoning everyone that did not return promptly, I know what the risks are. Natsuru, as much as I would like to have you see our old home, you are in a much greater risk than I am. If they do try to hold me back, they risk going to war with Sunagakure. They have no such liability with you. No, you will have to return back to Sunagakure." he would order her. Reaper would give her a momentary glance before returning his sole focus toward the woman formerly known as Fuu. "As for you Michi, I wonder why you care so much about my well being. Why are you so invested in preventing me from reaching Leaf? Why are you so certain they are going to do anything in their power to keep me locked up? Regardless if I go to Konohagakure or if I go back with you, I have come here for a reason and there is no one stopping me from doing it." he would announce.

The White Wolf would pick up his sword and he would take a few steps back, creating some distance between him and them. He would place the blade on the ground while kneeling. If they were watching him, they would notice the Senju Overlord had closed his eyes. Minutes would pass and Reaper would not move an inch nor speak again. If they did not speak as well, they would all be able to hear the gentle breeze rustling through the leaves, something so very common in the Fire Country. Eventually another sound would also be heard. The Occult Sennin would begin to hum a song he had learned long ago. "Fire Country." he would state, his voice steady and quite clear. "For generations we have fought for you, shed our blood for you. What did we get in return? A wretched, tiny warlord drove as away. He forced our hand and made us go away and choose another country to live in. We were betrayed, us, your most loyal folk." he would continue issuing his declaration. Kazuki was explaining something that was not quite clear for everyone else at the moment. "Our blood and tears have soaked this ground more times than anyone can remember. There is a blood debt in need of payment and I am here to collect it." he would finally announce. A second later, he would grab his sword and he would plunge it deeply on the ground. More time would pass before something happened.

A shiny, albeit very small, orb would gravitate toward Kazuki. Upon making physical contact with him, it would vanish. Natsuru, if able to see the orb, would not be aware of what it was, but Michi would certainly know. The orb was a soul, one that had listened to the Senju Overlord's call and had chosen to comply, willingly. The Oracle would also know why the soul had vanished. It had been absorbed by the White Wolf. "FIRE COUNTRY. I WILL NOT BE DENIED THIS DAY." Reaper would shout, plunging his sword a second time and then everything changed. If before there was a gentle breeze caressing them, now a furious, howling wind warred with them. Pitch black darkness began to drip from the Sennin's body, entering the ground, while the ambient light began to decrease and decrease until it seemed nightfall had arrived. In the middle of the waging elements stood Kazuki, unfazed. He was epicenter of such atmospheric phenomena. Slowly, countless shiny orbs began flocking toward the Senju Overlord. After several had been absorbed, the White Wolf would open his eyes and he would gaze Michi. She would easily notice his eyes had changed color, they were no longer black, but crimson red. And his gaze would not leave her again until it was over. Considering Natsuru could see chakra, she would clearly see how brighter and brighter her brother's body was becoming. Hundreds upon hundreds, perhaps thousands, of souls were absorbed until the White Wolf's frame was impossible to gaze due to the sheer brightness it emitted, something even the Oracle would be able to see, despite not bearing a chakra seeing doujutsu.

After a storm, a calm always comes and so it happened with them as well. As the flock of souls ceased, Kazuki would raise to his feet, the air around his body wavering. "Let us go then." he would calmly speak with them, as if he had just taken tea with them.

"We may be both hybrids but our origin is not the same. You were forced into one while I was not."</B><i></i>

It seemed to be something he liked to remind her of. That what she was different. He was of course right but she did not want to hear it. She did not want to be reminded. She looked away. "Never knew heritage and lineage was a choice," Michi countered. It was true, what she was done was done to her and a part of her felt ashamed. It was not the first time she had been humiliated, she would take a deep breath and try to hide her resentment and ignominy. Like with most things, her life lacked choice and she lacked the strength to ensure that she had one. The irony of all of this was the fact that she would have chosen Mikaboshi's 'dark gift,' yes she saw it as a 'gift,' over continuing to endure Nao's curse. There were other ways around it, yes. A fellow Dark Sage could have removed her misery, She lacked the skill in the craft to do it on her own. It was simply another failing of hers; something she did not even want to talk about. She tightened her jacket and crossed her arms. For those that were versed in non-verbals they would know what this indicated, that she was uncomfortable. That she was closing this part of herself off. There were things that even an Oracle did not want to discuss.

"I'd rather not discuss too much, but it has been quite the hot and sweaty experience. I am Senju after all. Was there any doubts?"

At least there was a change of subject, not that Michi had much pride left to salvage. Still, the respite was appreciated. She was interested in their interaction, she was peripherally aware of Kazuki's family but beyond the clansman bond that they all shared she had done next to no research on those closest to him.

"No, never. I know what you can do and you never cease to amaze me."

How sweet. He actually loves her. She could tell. There was a pang of jealousy, not that she desired his love or the affections of anyone in particular. She had never felt that way about anyone and what little love she had experienced in her life was twisted and perverse. Yes, there was someone that loved her, but love was possessive in his mind. The envy came from the fact that Natsuru earned that sentiment and it was real, it was not just something he said because he was supposed to nor was it something he was jealously guarding. "He loves you," she observed "as much as you do." There was a petty part of her that did not want to warn them about Number Six. A niggling desire to let them be as miserable as her. She did not know that Roku's association with the Soverign was known. There was much she did not know. She could have stayed silent silent but she would not, she was not that contemptible. Roku was dangerous, but they seemed to already be aware and they did not appear to care.

"I know. We all are but as long as the Kazekage trusts him, so shall I. If he ever breaks my confidence, I will break him."

She shook her head. He would not. "That is not it," she protested. Her shoulders slumped, he was not going to understand and it was a secondary concern at the present time. They were in dangerous territory, Roku could wait. With a sigh she would remind him of why he was in danger and she would urge him to run. They still could, he still had time. She would try again to convince him. It was a desperate plea to some sensible part of him that understood her words. He needed to flee.

"Run? I do not run."

Neither of them were listening to a word that she said. It was frustrating -- they were both in danger! It was a true fact that she was behind the Cabal's attack, she was the one that made the plan that Akio facilitated. She saw the village as a fragile subterranean bubble that could easily be popped. She saw the Toraono family as foolishly open, both to those entering their ranks and those that could enter their home. They rarely minded what went on in their own walls. This was celebrated by most, but it was also seen as an oppertunity for those such as herself. Yes, they could survive entry into Kohona, that much was true but not as known residents or guests. That was how the Cabal did it, they did not make fanfare of their entry until they already had the city on their knees. It was so much easier that way, when you had a position of control. They had no control in this situation and that was dangerous.

No, you will have to return back to Sunagakure."

There was that love again. That illogical affection. It was not in his best interest to send her away. "You are incorrect Sennin Senju," Michi insisted. "You are the one in peril, not her. You were the Sennin of Kohona, the Ambassador of Iwa, the Sennin of Suna, Overlord of the Senju Clan and now trusted Ambassador in this deal. You are the logical target. No offense intended towards your sibling, but the only names she has earned are all due to an association with you. I appreciate your affections towards your sister, they are quite enlightening. I envy the relationship in fact... even if it will likely only bring you future heartache." She identified his weakness then and there and it was likely that if anyone else would know of that weakness it would be them. "If I wanted to hurt you. To make you bend to my will and intent, I would strike at your heart." She pointed at Natsuru, "I would take the thing you love and I would break it." She took a breath, the thought crossed her mind to demonstrate this fact and force Kazuki to comply with her demand to return home. She wondered if she could. She believed she was capable but the odds were not in her favor and even if they were she was giving him a choice. "You are stronger together than you are apart," she concluded.

"As for you Michi, I wonder why you care so much about my well being. Why are you so invested in preventing me from reaching Leaf? Why are you so certain they are going to do anything in their power to keep me locked up? Regardless if I go to Konohagakure or if I go back with you, I have come here for a reason and there is no one stopping me from doing it."

"Do not misapprehend me Sennin. I want you with me and I could stop you," She took a step forward. But I won't. Because unlike me, you deserve to have a choice. Because you should always have a choice." She was desperately trying to save him, she wanted to rip the ground away from beneath his feet and drag him away. "If you go there, you might lose your choice." The very choice he would lose if she forced her desire onto him. Choice was important to her because she never had one. She was alive but she had hardly lived. "And I would like to see better for you. People are selfish and greedy... Capricious and cruel... I would know that better than most. When given the option, without consequence to do something awful... more often than not they will take it. It is the nature of people to do something incredibly brutal because they had not done it before, to satisfy a whim, to preserve their fragile pride. To -- take what they consider to be theirs. I... know... because..." She swallowed hard, some things were too hard to say. "I apperceive too much. I know what it is like to be locked away in a box. To be tethered to another's intentions. I understand what it is like to desperately want to be free. I am aware that my freedom is fleeting. And I appreciate the fact that you cannot be conversant in this, not truly. Nor can they." She made a general gesture. Maybe that is why they did it, because they did not understand how cruel it was. Perhaps it was because they did not care. "It is easy to tell yourself that it is your due. That it is your right. And they do... they will. They will consider you theirs like I consider you mine."

He did not seem to have anything more to say to her, he just walked away. She had went all this way for his sake but he was not willing to heed her words. She frowned, her sentiment was real for whatever reason. "I wish you the best of luck Senju Kazuki," she resigned. Her voice sounded of defeat. She could try and stop him. Neither knew everything she could do now that she was free of Nao's influence. She was tempted, as the devil always does. She clenched her hand. "I know that we are not close. We are not allies... nor are we friends. But you were not unkind," she admitted. That was the reason why, kindness was rare. The only way she knew how to communicate was through force and violence. Through a struggle for power, one where she won, lost or let them win. It was how she got through to Kasha, or at the very least tried.

He was kneeling, perhaps in prayer. She would not know, she assumed that they worshiped trees considering Natsuru's breast and the massive tree Kazuki had summoned. She would walk away. She had to. He had made his choice. The sandrunners were rested at the very least, they might be able to reach the border shortly after nightfall. She pet the feathered creatures of burden as she pondered her return route. She would not be able to return the way she came, Shiro's men would be onto her.
<B>"Fire Country. For generations we have fought for you, shed our blood for you. What did we get in return? A wretched, tiny warlord drove as away. He forced our hand and made us go away and choose another country to live in. We were betrayed, us, your most loyal folk. Our blood and tears have soaked this ground more times than anyone can remember. There is a blood debt in need of payment and I am here to collect it."

"FIRE COUNTRY. I WILL NOT BE DENIED THIS DAY."
<i></i>

"Senju Natsuru--" Michi called. She looked sad. "There is room enough if you wish to return," she offered the Mercenary a ride home. She felt numb, her arms and her legs, even her head. "He has made his choice." He wanted to be alone and he wanted to enter a village that hunts and kills those who leave because they left. People of lesser rank and importance. Their ethnocentrism and their pride. Their possessive nature and their lack of love. Was Sunagakure any better? No, they had different sins but maybe someday the right person would make a difference. The world might be different with a few 'good' people with the moral fiber and strength to abide.

She saw them rise, it was the dead. Just a few at first, wiggling and darting about as they moved closer to the Occult Sennin. She knew what they were, what they represented -- souls. Humans knew very little about souls, many considered the concept to be nothing more than religious mythology. Something that made death seem less scary, but in time she learned that the existence of souls made death terrifying. She knew a number of terrible truths, none more awful than the things Shiro had done with her help as well as Nao's. She was hardly innocent and she would have to live with that. There was a time when she tried to abide by her setting. To do what she must to maintain or regain a sense of liberty even if it was at the consequence of others. She would see more emerge, she knew not from where only that it was a legion of souls taken for consumption. It was dangerous what he was doing, as a hybrid he should know. As an Ancient he should know even better. "Natsuru, get out of there. He is eating and it is dangerous!" she shouted. She was urging his sister to move away, at least for a time. There was no use in stopping him, it would be like pulling a bowl of food away from a hungry dog. That was how you got bit. She would not be able to prevent it even if she tried.

He knew... he had to know the story of Orochi. Of the consequence of the one great sin. He also had to know about the cancer that is Ancient essence. That Ancients do not belong. That their presence is invasive. Infectious even. He was quite strong to live as long and as well as he had, most hybrid children with the amount of genetic material Kazuki somehow possessed were stillborn with rare exception. They of course existed, humans were durable and adaptable creatures. The winds would pick up and the numbers would grow even greater. It was natural to hunger for souls, she hungered deeply but she refused to partake. it was a test of her resolve to do so, since she had left Wind Country a gnawing hunger seemed to bite deeper. There was something about Wind Country, about the natural energy of the region that sustained them but never satisfied them. Here there was nothing and it felt like she had not been fed for days.

The winds would pick up and they would howl. The sandrunners would grow restless and would scrape at the ground. "NATSURU!" She would shot again, "keep your distance!" She warned again if Natsuru remained idle. She would pull back on the reigns, the sandrunners wanted to move away. Her hair was standing on end, her scarf unraveled and flew off. She shrunk into her jacket as the windstorm raged on. It would die off eventually, return to a seasonable breeze.

She could see them thrumming. Humming. Buzzing. It made her uncomfortable, once again she knew too much. It was going to happen soon. Was he aware? Was he prepared? It was not her place.

"Let us go then."

You are going Sennin?" She sounded shocked because she was.

Thank Sanban. She mouthed. "We have a long journey, come inside." She was taking it that he had consented to be returned to Wind Country and she was relieved. She was also tired. She would let out a yawn, they had a lot of ground to cover before nightfall. She wanted to make sure that they were away from any of the major cities before they took a rest.

There always had to be mention of those ancients and whatever it was. It just kept popping up again and again, there was absolutely no escaping it. She just plain wasn't getting the point of it by the looks. Then again it didn't matter to her at all. At the end of the way an opponent was just that, nothing more. I didn't matter what they were as they would all fall just the same. Why did she have to go and make things complicated? No point really.

"I know."<i></i> Natsu would note, glancing over at Kazuki with a light smirk. "Even if he is too stuck up to admit it. Kind of comes with the territory."<i></i> She would quickly add with a light shrug.

***

"Going back would be boring."<i></i> She would state, still standing on the branch with her back turned to Kazuki. "There is also a chance that one of our old comrades might still be alive and there. I can't really say that chance is high at all, but even I can be sentimental from time to time. Well not quite so to build a tree in the middle of the forest."<i></i> Natsuru would shrug. "Danger is just part of due course in our line of work and our lives in general."<i></i> The former medic would note, hopping down from the tree just as Michi burst into yet another one of her rants. She really did talk a little bit too much for her own good. Oh well. Kazuki wasn't having any of it.

"In a way, yes what I have done in the light is only linked to Kazuki. You would be surprised to know you have gaps in that information network of yours."<i></i> She would shrug yet again, making her way over to Kazuki and stopping next to him. "I am quite alright. A vacation sounds like a good plan."<i></i> The kunoichi would chuckle offering Michi a wave as more of a joke than anything else. It was then that something interesting finally took place, something which she had not seen before for certain. She remained in her spot, carefully studying what has happening. It was rather clear that he brother had found some method to power up once more and that didn't surprise her at all. He would always do so and he would never stop doing so. It was his existence, purpose. Just like it was hers, but he would always be the stronger one. No matter how much Michi shouted Natsu would just remain where she was, a smile forming on her lips as it quickly grew into a grin.

"And here I thought the chakra gates were quite the burst of power. At the end of the day I will never end up catching up will I?"<i></i> She would shake her head, shrugging at the same time. "No surprises there at all."<i></i> Natsu would quickly add, pausing for a second to study her brother. "But you really need to be careful with changing your appearance to be scarier and scarier. How will you end up finding a mate in the end if they all run away? Sheesh. You keep ignoring me and doing stupid things."<i></i> The kunoichi would pout, the jokes really were never ending and hiding painful truths behind them. No matter. It was something that was meant to be nad something that would never happen at the same time.

"Never knew heritage and lineage was a choice," Michi would retort. She was, of course, correct, but there was a key difference between them. Kazuki had been born that way, she had chosen to submit to Mikaboshi's will when she could refuse, regardless if the outcome of submitting allowed her some form of freedom, something she lacked before. "And they are not, but you have chosen to accept Mikaboshi's offer. That is the difference. I do not condone your choice, you gain some sort of freedom through it. I do remember offering you to relieve you of those seals, to try and bring you freedom of will, an offer you refused I might add. I would have not tried to reshape you like he did, but that is your prerogative." the Senju Overlord noted. He was not offended by her refusal nor he had any ill feelings toward her deep beneath the surface because of said choice. She had denied him the attempt and that was it. Case closed.

"He loves you, as much as you do." the last Oracle would observe upon watching the brother-sister interaction. She was, again, correct. Natsuru was the last, direct family he had left in this wide and wild world. Tadao, their uncle, was missing. Minoru, a first cousin, was also missing. And although Nagato, also a cousin, was still alive and kicking, he was not as close to them as the other two had been. "I know. Even if he is too stuck up to admit it. Kind of comes with the territory." the Hyuuga would confide.

"Going back would be boring. There is also a chance that one of our old comrades might still be alive and there. I can't really say that chance is high at all, but even I can be sentimental from time to time. Well not quite so to build a tree in the middle of the forest. Danger is just part of due course in our line of work and our lives in general." the former Leaf Medical Ninja would state after the White Wolf had commanded her to return to Sunagakure. Michi would also interject. "You are incorrect Sennin Senju. You are the one in peril, not her. I envy the relationship in fact... even if it will likely only bring you future heartache." Upon hearing Michi's remark about herself, Natsuru couldn't stop herself from speaking up. "In a way, yes what I have done in the light is only linked to Kazuki. You would be surprised to know you have gaps in that information network of yours." The last Oracle, however, would be deterred and she would continue. "If I wanted to hurt you. To make you bend to my will and intent, I would strike at your heart. I would take the thing you love and I would break it. You are stronger together than you are apart,"

Eventually, Reaper would question her motives for being there. Her reasons for trying to stop him from entering Konohagakure's grounds. What had motivated her from leaving Sunagakure and enter a foreign country when there was, supposedly, no logical reason to do so. "Do not misapprehend me Sennin. I want you with me and I could stop you. But I won't. Because unlike me, you deserve to have a choice. Because you should always have a choice. If you go there, you might lose your choice. And I would like to see better for you. I... know... because... I apperceive too much. I know what it is like to be locked away in a box. To be tethered to another's intentions. I understand what it is like to desperately want to be free. I am aware that my freedom is fleeting. And I appreciate the fact that you cannot be conversant in this, not truly. Nor can they. It is easy to tell yourself that it is your due. That it is your right. And they do... they will. They will consider you theirs like I consider you mine." the Occult Sennin for Sand would nod but he would not reply at all. In fact, he would move away from them. Upon seeing Kazuki's non verbal response, the Deep Court Hybrid would resign. "I wish you the best of luck Senju Kazuki. I know that we are not close. We are not allies... nor are we friends. But you were not unkind,"

You are going Sennin?" Michi would speak, shock quite patent on her voice. Kazuki would simply nod in return, not because he could not speak, but because he felt words were unnecessary. "And here I thought the chakra gates were quite the burst of power. At the end of the day I will never end up catching up will I? No surprises there at all. But you really need to be careful with changing your appearance to be scarier and scarier. How will you end up finding a mate in the end if they all run away? Sheesh. You keep ignoring me and doing stupid things." Natsuru would state moments later after approaching them. The Senju Overlord would silently gaze his sister upon hearing those words. Slowly, a small smirk would emerge on his lips. His gaze would return to Michi. Although he could do not do anything while absorbing that legion of souls, the White Wolf had heard Fuu's insistent words of danger toward the female Hyuuga. "You need to understand one thing Michi. Even though you are older and an Oracle, thus possessing a great pool of knowledge, you do not know everything. I may be a hybrid, but I am quite different than them, just like I was different before. I do not feed, I absorb. Still, I am not dangerous when doing so, I am still under absolute control." he would try to explain. It was not easy to actually put it into words because, in a way, he was in a different world than the rest of the individuals like him. He had been taking souls way before he had awoken his Ancient heritage, before a certain side of him began demanding them as food, before he began an eternal struggle between his human side and his deep court side. He had, rather recently, however, underwent a significant change. The Sacred Tree changed him, gave him a connection to the natural world, somewhat tamed his Ancient side. There was still a struggle going on, but he was in control again. "You have no idea for how long I have been doing this. No idea at all." he would admit. He had done that since he was 16 and he was not going to stop now.

Reaper would enter the tent and he would seat near a corner. "I think it is more than time you start living life Michi. You have lived under the oppression of other men for too long. Every sentient being deserves freedom of choice and, sometimes, the only way to grant it is by liberating them from their mortal shelf. In the upcoming months we may be forced to grant liberty in such a way. Are you willing to do that?" he would question her. "With whom are you now? I know you are no longer working for the Wind Daimyo, but are you with us? With me? Will you fight alongside me to liberate Sunagakure and the Wind Country from the tyrannical shackles of one man and his army? More importantly, can I trust you?" he would further inquire. He would ponder for a few seconds before continuing. "You have done something few would be willing, bar my sister of course. You have risked yourself in traveling to a different country to bring back someone you barely know and barely have any attachments. I have to recognize that even if I believe your actions were folly." he would note. "Despite that, I am going to offer you something no one, and correct me if I am wrong, offered you before." he would continue. "True partnership. A place in my clan, if you wish. You have much to share and, for the better or worse, we are both hybrids of a dying court. I am the closest thing you probably have as a family and we Senju know how much important family is." the Sennin would offer her. The Death Court Lord did not make such offerings lightly and certainly not to everyone. He knew how valuable she was to the upcoming war, but it was not only because of that he had offered such deal. "I have tried to help you when you were known as Fuu. I am trying to do the same now that you are known as Michi. Nao enslaved you because he could. Mikaboshi freed you to get something out of you. I am merely trying to help you, if I get help from you as well, the better, but knowledge gains are not my motivation."

How could she make light of this matter? They were in enemy territory, not a resort. She had warned him, she had warned them both of the peril that they face but her words were as moving as the Fire Country breeze - heard and felt but the contents were unmoving.

From the earth came a reaper's harvest of souls, scores of them buzzed about seemingly drawn to him. It was not right, in fact it was unnatural and a great taboo. She recognized the act of consumption, something that she had denied herself since the change. Partaking in this terrible and vile act would only mean that she had truly forgotten what was left of her humanity. Kazuki was playing a dangerous game summoning these souls, ripping from them eternity. A soul is a fragile and uncharacteristically capricious thing, being drawn rather than grasped as a feckless display of power that would most certainly prove to be temerarious. Few cared about the nameless and the faceless, those that were not yours -- they were merely statistics cooly written in the margins. What he could and should care about is his sister if nothing more, what if her soul broke free of what tethered it to this mortal coil and he took it. Could he live with what he had done? Would he want to? He was making a terrible mistake and it would have an awful price he might have to one day pay but hopefully not today. She called out to Natsuru to grant her brother some space. That it was dangerous!

Her warning fell on deaf ears, she should not have expected anything less. Fortune or perhaps luck was on the siblings side as Natsuru casually stood there and Kazuki made an arrogant announcement of his own:

"You need to understand one thing Michi. Even though you are older and an Oracle, thus possessing a great pool of knowledge, you do not know everything. I may be a hybrid, but I am quite different than them, just like I was different before. I do not feed, I absorb. Still, I am not dangerous when doing so, I am still under absolute control."

"Does the ship control sea or the sea control the boat Sennin Senju. You might be in control for the time being but you do not know from where the cold air might blow that might turn your had around." Her warning was grave but would likely go unheard. "There is not a thing in this world that is entirely new," she reasoned. Neither of them were wrong, but neither were right either. Kazuki was always an Ancient, even if he was not fully aware of his potential that fact has never changed. Had he only developed that gnawing hunger or was it always there, merely misunderstood? "You can call what you do absorbing but how is that different from feeding. It is what every organism does down to a cellular level -- feed... absorb." She had not yet approached them, she was far too prudent. A part of her knew he had to partake, they all did. The appetence was maddening and she did not know how long she would be able to rebuff this portion of her nature.

"You have no idea for how long I have been doing this. No idea at all."

His hubris would be the end of him, that or the madness that might come. Human hybrids suffer above all others for in their hunger they must eat their own, the one great taboo that had been maintained since Orochi the Mad Ancient of the Wild Hunt was defeated. He would approach and she would eye him with caution. Be careful Such a simple phrase was being screamed on repeat in the back of her head as she tried to analyze him over the psychic noise. Was he a fool or was he mad? her mind was left to wonder and her expression would betray her thoughts.

Are you willing to do that?"

She stiffened. "You mean kill them," she clarified. She might be brilliant, the sort of mind that comes around once in a generation but there were things that even she failed to think about. Things that she chose to not think about. She was a lot of things, but a killer was not among them. At least that is what she believed. She also could not lie. "I..." her voice trailed off. She wanted to affirm a killer's intent because she desired their death. She had not killed before, injured yes. Maimed, as a consequence. She had nearly killed some, but she always did so knowing that someone would come to their aide. She sighed. "I cannot be certain," she concluded. It was not the answer she wanted to give and likely not the answer he wanted to hear. "Murder is sin" she explained, astonished that the phrase escaped her lips. She was hardly the religious type and that was worrisome because she could only speak the truth. Was it a part of her conditioning? A sense of panic could be seen in her eyes, just a flash, a sense of doubt. She thought that she had won. That she had escaped. What if she did not?

"With whom are you now? I know you are no longer working for the Wind Daimyo, but are you with us? With me? Will you fight alongside me to liberate Sunagakure and the Wind Country from the tyrannical shackles of one man and his army? More importantly, can I trust you?"

She had to push away the doubt, the lingering uncertainty in her mind but it clung to her. "I..." again her voice trailed off as she sought an answer to what should have been a simple question. "Wish to pull Wind Country from perdition and release the people from goshuujinsama Shiro's cruelty. But I do not trust myself, so neither should you," she answered but it was painful and shameful to admit. "I do not know if I will maintain control over my ambition for long." She knew what she wanted but she did not know if she could follow through and there was evidence, it came out every once in awhile... evidence of her conditioning. Enough for her to fear that there might have been success.

"You have done something few would be willing, bar my sister of course. You have risked yourself in traveling to a different country to bring back someone you barely know and barely have any attachments. I have to recognize that even if I believe your actions were folly."

She smiled. "I have never heard someone claim an Oracle's actions to be folly." She shook her head as she started to relax. "I would be sad if you died," she conceded. It was the truth, as she had said previously 'he had always been kind.' She was not omniscient, if she was she might have known otherwise but she was not.

"Despite that, I am going to offer you something no one, and correct me if I am wrong, offered you before."

She raised an arched brow. And what would that be? she wondered as she restlessly shifted.

"True partnership. A place in my clan, if you wish. You have much to share and, for the better or worse, we are both hybrids of a dying court. I am the closest thing you probably have as a family and we Senju know how much important family is."

"The Senju Clan?" She confirmed. The offer was unexpected, generous and suspicious. She knew little about the clan because they were so secretive but she was well aware that the members of the clan had a bloodline connection, one she most certainly lacked. A part of her was concerned that this was a ruse to obtain control over the recently liberated Oracle. That it was some sort of manipulative practice. There was a paranoid part of her that was seeking to understand the angle. To understand what he was seeking.

"Then what is your motivation?" Was that the right question?

"Does the ship control sea or the sea control the boat Sennin Senju. You might be in control for the time being but you do not know from where the cold air might blow that might turn your had around. There is not a thing in this world that is entirely new. You can call what you do absorbing but how is that different from feeding. It is what every organism does down to a cellular level -- feed... absorb." Michi would reason with him. Kazuki would shake his head again. She did not understand and it seemed he was incapable of making her see the truth. "As much as it might be painful to admit, you do not know anything. You have not seen anything. You do not own the truth. I am not a native to the Wind Country, I do not have to obey to its natural laws." he would reason back. He was not done discussing that subject, but it was becoming pointless. He would wave his hand as if he was discarding those words. "This is a very interesting discussion but this is not the time nor the place to have it." he would note, something, he hoped, they could both agree on.

"You mean kill them. I... I cannot be certain," she would conclude. The White Wolf would nod in return. "Yes, kill them. Sometimes it is the only way we have to do right thing, by killing someone. By scarring our soul with such an act. A necessary evil in such an unforgiving world." he would tell her. He began taking lives before he reached adulthood, a necessity given his profession. He soon learned how painful to take a life was, how the first one really marks someone forever and, while for someone it got easier the more lives they took, for others it never became easy. If she was to fight under the banner of Sunagakure, she had to get used to taking lives. "Murder is sin" she would share. The Shadow Sword did not follow that train of thought, he couldn't, it was not part of his nature. He would remain silent for a while, diluting the effects of the other Hybrid's words.

"I... Wish to pull Wind Country from perdition and release the people from goshuujinsama Shiro's cruelty. But I do not trust myself, so neither should you. I do not know if I will maintain control over my ambition for long." she would answer him. That was not the question he wanted to hear but, perhaps, it was the only answer he would get from her. "What is it that you seek?" he would inquire. It was a simple question, but given the nature of the woman in front of him, the response would be hardly plain. "Then what is your motivation?" the Last Oracle would inquire after being offered a chance of joining the Senju Clan and true partnership. "I have been oppressed by a tyrant before. Forced to leave my home because of the actions of a madman. I know what everyone in the Wind Country is going through because I lived through it before and I refuse to to have it forced on me ever again." he would explain. "Do you want to know what motivates me? I adamant on prevent my fellow villagers of suffering what I have suffered before. I am motivated on liberating my new country from the tyrannical shackles of a madman and prevent someone else equally unbalanced from seating on that throne. I am motivated to defend my new village from any and all threats and I will stop at nothing to make sure I do my job." the Occult Sennin would declare, his face showing nothing but adamant resolve.

OC: Sorry nothing much here. Have had writers block since the thing. =/ Super sorry.

IC:

"As much as it might be painful to admit, you do not know anything. You have not seen anything. You do not own the truth. I am not a native to the Wind Country, I do not have to obey to its natural laws."</B><B>

Anything. Did he really tell an Oracle that they did not know anything? She had to shake her head. Where did he think his link to the Ancient Courts came from? His heritage can be linked back to these old lands. A heritage he had ignored most of his life. A potential he had only realized recently. How recently she would not know, she was not there when he was awakened. She did not see or know the journey that brought him here, but did he truly understand what he was? "There is not a thing in this word that is new," she replied. That was a core tenet of her Order, understanding that everything already is and that there are some immutable laws. But there was something she did not know, she heard the legend. Every Oracle knew the legend but it was nothing more than Satoru's tale. An ambition, a hidden and forgotten silent hope. Saisho (the first), Shoki (the second) and Sanban (the third).

"This is a very interesting discussion but this is not the time nor the place to have it."

He demanded a change of subject. She was not going to argue the point. Was there any point to make beyond satisfying a hubris she lacked. She was not proud of her station, she simply was. The distinction was important. He seemed to care more about her killer's intent. She lacked such. She was capable of killing, but she was not a killer. She sought clarification. Verification.

"Yes, kill them. Sometimes it is the only way we have to do right thing, by killing someone. By scarring our soul with such an act. A necessary evil in such an unforgiving world."

Then no, she would shake her head. She was not that. She had no intention of killing anyone. Death might be the end result for some, but she did not want anyone to die. It was a senseless loss. It was a sin. Sin was something that most people saw as superstition, as merely religious mythology. Sin was something more than that. Sins were not simply socially agreed upon mores, it would be easier if it was. If morals were simply 'suggestions', if there was no divine consequence. If there were no masters and there were no gods. But he should know as she had, the world was full of both. There was a reason cannibalism was morally reprehensible. Yes, there is the implied face that to eat one had to kill but was meat murder? No, it was not. There was a difference. History echoed the reason why it was wrong, the corruption was tangible in Barnyx, the annals of history echoed with tales of the Wild Hunt. Consumption, a gluttonous sin of excess would cause their depths to languish. She would tell him that murder was sin. She did not believe that he would follow her logic, even if he could he would not care. She saw him eat. Well 'absorb.' The act of consumption was simply the act of manual absorption, that was how digestion worked sans the dramatic moment.

"Be malleable..." she exhaled. It was her mantra and it had been for such a long time. She could hardly remember where she had first learned it. It was like a spell to hold her sanity, maintain her control. Madness was based on sin.

"What is it that you seek?"

"To fulfill my intent." Finally a simple answer. Her intent encompassed a great many things because she was predestined from her earliest years to be an Oracle. As a Sunan and as a human, she was intended to be free. As a woman she was intended to have a family and live a full life as she passed on her genetic legacy. No, she was not looking for a romantic partner. The last time, she had Shouki. A worthy mind, a sinful man. Of course, anything in excess would become toxic, even her quest for knowledge. Her eternal search for 'something new' -- the sin of avarice. That was Satoru's fearsome fate. Sometimes something gets so old that it is forgotten and it is believed to be 'new.'

"I have been oppressed by a tyrant before. Forced to leave my home because of the actions of a madman. I know what everyone in the Wind Country is going through because I lived through it before and I refuse to to have it forced on me ever again."

"Yet your here again, risking it all," she reminded him. "Your sentiment for these people is a distraction. You left your sister behind without a word," she gestured towards Natsuru. "Without protection," she continued. Perhaps he was insufferably prideful enough to believe that he could push back an entire village if they wanted him dead. "And you did this in the midst of a war," she did not know that the new Kazekage had declared actual war, she was referring to the secret conflicts between the Diamyo and Sunagakure these past few years. How the Soverign still threaten Sunagakure's independence and freedom. She had not seen the last Sunahoshi since she forced him to wake and weakened Lord Mikaboshi's hold over him.

"Do you want to know what motivates me? I adamant on prevent my fellow villagers of suffering what I have suffered before. I am motivated on liberating my new country from the tyrannical shackles of a madman and prevent someone else equally unbalanced from seating on that throne. I am motivated to defend my new village from any and all threats and I will stop at nothing to make sure I do my job."

"Okay," she ceded wistfully. "Are you ready?" The chances were 60-40 that he would return with her to Sunagakure. There was a chance that he might decide to still go to Kohona in defiance to her logic as he made an emotional decision. If he decided to enter Leaf she would not be able to stop him. They might not share her ethic, he might die. She might not be able to save him.

There wasn't even a shadow of a doubt that these discussions were more than beyond her. It was absolutely pointless to try and tease her brother as he wouldn't really react to absolutely anything she did at all, which by the looks of it could rather easily be translated to Michi. Thus it was not surprising that Natsuru became a silent sentry, somthing that she had more than gotten used to being years ago. The kunoichi would take a step back before jumping back up onto the tree once more, looking through the leaves. She would briefly pause on names she recognised, taking the time to caress each one before moving on. So many friends, colleagues and acquaintances had fallen. So many were still lost in action, but it was unlikely that many had ended up with the same experiences as herself and Kazuki. At the end of the day such was life. Harsh and unforgiving, but still worth living.

The kunoichi would let out a quiet sigh as she moved onto yet another branch, continuing her reminiscing about the past. Time wasted some would say, but not to her. Natsu would turn around as she heard the brief mention, glancing between the two as she tried to find anything to really interfere with, but nothing came to mind. Any joking or stupid remark would just be ignored and she wasn't capable of doing serious. It was one of those things that she had given up on really being a while ago, probably around the time her beliefs as a hunter had solidified. Ah this was starting to really piss her off. With yet another sigh she would squat down on the branch, placing her hands on it, positioned between her legs, much like a frog as she prepared to push off the thing.

"I can safely say I can't do serious talks. So are we going back to Suna or ot Konoha? I couldn't care less as to which it is, but I'd rather do something than keep on babbling, because I sure as hell can't do the latter."<i></i> Natsuru would roll her eyes. "What is going to happen is going to happen. Let's just get it over and done with. More demons to go hunt and all that. Still more than enough in either territory."<i></i> The kunoichi would shrug a few moments before she jumped off one of the higher branches of the tree, flipping in the air before she landed in one of the worst possible ways, namely the infamous superhero landing. Natsu would slowly stand up glancing between the two, hoping they wouldn't just continue rambling on. "So whoever is going to lead the way lead the way."<i></i> She would gesture, preparing to follow her brother, whether or not he decided to go with Michi.

"To fulfill my intent." Michi would answer. It was an answer but not one that clarified him at all. Kazuki did not know Michi that well to be aware of drove her. "And your intent is?" he would question. Were they going to be like this for the rest of the day? The Senju Overlord posing questions and the last Oracle answering without providing actual information? This mouse and cat game could entertain them for a while but, eventually, they would get bored, he would at least. In fact, he could sense Natsuru's restlessness as she moved from branch to branch. He knew his sister too damn well to know what she going through. She had remained idle for too long and she was growing tired of their constant chatter. She was a woman of action. Unfortunately it would seem no compromise could be reached that day. She thought what she thought and the White Wolf thought what he thought. Neither were willing to concede an inch or recognize the other one could be correct. This was a battle neither could win, not on that day at least.

The Hyuuga would eventually reach and pass the threshold of her patience. "I can safely say I can't do serious talks. So are we going back to Suna or ot Konoha? I couldn't care less as to which it is, but I'd rather do something than keep on babbling, because I sure as hell can't do the latter. What is going to happen is going to happen. Let's just get it over and done with. More demons to go hunt and all that. Still more than enough in either territory. So whoever is going to lead the way lead the way." she would blurt out. After performing a hero's landing, she simply stood, ready to roll. "Are you ready?" Michi would inquire. Kazuki would nod back. "Lead the way Michi."

"And your intent is?"

She wanted many things. Just like anyone she wanted to be free. To be strong enough to be certain of her continued freedom. She wanted friends and a family. She wanted a home that was comfortable and secure. She wanted to be certain that she was safe. She wanted to learn and she wanted to achieve something in her life. It was the mandate of man to want these things. Maslow put it best when he placed the needs of humanity into a hierarchy. She envied his naiveté. Some might consider such a revelation ground-breaking but it was like realizing the presence of gravity. It was always there, it was understood but there were no words assigned. It made smart men feel better when they named something nobody else bothered to. The truth of the matter is, all of those things were true but they were no more true than the fact that her favorite thing to consume was food. "Liberty," she answered simply. That was the thing she cared the most about. Living a life unrestrained. The word was filled with meaning to her. She was never free, she was not even now but she desired it.

"To win," she continued. Another obvious answer. Against who? The Diamyo? Her dead son? Mikaboshi? Her destroyed Order?

"And to be with you," she concluded. She was not telling him anything that he did not know. That he could not accurately guess unless he was an utter buffoon. Was her interest in him romantic, academic or sociable? That was hard to say and an answer she could not give because she did not know but she traversed the world to stop him from making a mistake without being asked. She did not hesitate. She did not perseverate.

So whoever is going to lead the way lead the way."

Things were getting too real for Kazuki's sister. She made one important point. They needed to decide what they were going to do. Were they going to march into Kohonagakure? Were they going to return to Sunagakure? She would look to the Sennin and ask if he was ready.

"Lead the way Michi."

It was apparently lady's pick. "Hop on Sennin, we have a long journey." There was enough space for one more, it was always the intent. "Let us take the long way home, have you heard of the World Martial Arts Tournament in Cha no Kuni? If anything, Sunagakure needs you more than ever before..." She would snap the reins once they were all aboard. Time to go.
