Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The feeling of crisp, cool air met Kaen's naturally unnatural hot skin as he entered the Omni Prime facility. Having just returned from the gates, as well as stopping by customs and migration, a yellow manila envelope was held in his off hand. After checking with reception he would walk down the tiled hallway towards the room where Chi was supposed to be recovering in. With a light knock on the door would slowly slide the door open and draw back the privacy curtain. Hopefully Chi was decent enough and was resting nicely in bed. Hopefully also finding some comfort and peace with her desert wounds healed, or well on their way towards it. "I have your immigration paperwork. It's mostly filled out, just needs a few signatures." Kaen would start as he entered the room with a smile on his face, keeping his promise to return to her after leaving her in the care of Dr. Tama.

Present day at the Shinku estate...

"Chikara!" He wasn't used to having to yell out for anyone's name, at least not here. Since it was built Kaen was the sole Shinku that resided in the large estate Lord Sousuke had provided for himself and his sister, Kasen. She, Kasen that was, had came in when it was finished, looked around for a little bit and promptly decided she would not be staying here and stubbornly kept her beach house. He was thoroughly convinced that it would take a small army to wrench that property away from her, and so he didn't fight it. He kinda enjoyed the quiet to be honest, or at least he did until recently. With Hato now living with him, or at least having a room to come to should he care to, made it not as eerily quiet. And now with the addition of Chi, there was no grim silence looming throughout the halls of his estate. Lavish lifestyles was never anything he sought after, but it was nice all the same. "CHI! Where are yo--." Quickly cut off by the sudden appearance of Chi's stark visage he would pinch the bridge of his nose. "For the last time, Chi, you can't just walk around the house naked. You understand that Hato, the nine year old, lives here too right?" Honestly, this cultural barrier was proving to be perplexing.

Shizen Chikara, warrior princess and last of the Hosekimori, sat on her sleeping surface with her legs up to her chest. She was wearing no clothes, as she often did when she was not out in public, and was sharpening the tiny horns that sat on her head. She poked the tip of one and found it to be satisfactory, then she poked the other and found it to be similar. She smiled at her work and stretched her legs over the expanse that was her bed. Even as a child, living as royalty amongst the savages of her village, she only had a straw mat to sleep on. It was the softest mat she had ever slept on until she arrived at Suna and was taken in by the man known as Killcrop.

Chi was quite content with herself, and for a moment she forgot about her fight. She shook herself back into reality, remembering that Ichiro was still out there buying people for whatever reason. She needed to remain strong and she needed to remember her roots. She couldn't let this fancy house distract her from her main goal. She hopped off the bed, which was probably the thing she loved most about living there, and grabbed her spear from a top her dresser. It was in it's dagger form, she swung her arm and it extended its size and became a spear. Morisei appeared.

"When are you going to tell me where he's hiding?" She groaned.

"When are you going to summon me for a battle instead of for chit chat? And for goodness sake, Chi… Put on some clothes!"

"Never!" She swung her arm through Morisei's form and he dissipated into a cloud and reformed behind her.

"Listen," He placed his intangible hands on Chi's shoulders but she felt nothing. He pretended to massage her as he spoke, "Chi, baby. Listen to me, you have to do this on your own. It's one of those things, you know?"

"This village is too big, how can I find him in all this?" She turned her head towards Morisei but didn't move her body. She could feel his spirit form behind her, doing something unseemly she imagined. She couldn't see him so she turned around and found him upside down with a hand on his chin as if he were thinking.

"Morisei!" She demanded.

"Look! Here's what you do, yeah?" He flipped upright and crossed his legs, still floating in the air he wrapped an arm around Chi and got his face real close to hers. "You join the army… Erm, eh, shinobi? Whatever they're called. Join those fucks, then you can have their information. Information like who be doing the things, you know?"

She didn't know.

"Ugh, like information on the human trafficking going on in this country?" Morisei sighed and rolled his eyes. He slowly began to sink back into the spear and as he did he muttered, "I gotta do everything for these blasted humans…"

Chi nodded, knowing now that in order to stop Ichiro she would need to integrate herself further into its structure. She figured this would be easy, she was strong enough to get by just on that alone, she thought. Filled with determination, Chi sprinted out of her room to go find Kyphorrhinos. When she entered the hall she could already here his voice calling out to her. She jogged through the corridors, using her keen senses to follow the bouncing vibrations. She came across him, bounding a corner just in time that they both stopped before bumping into each other.

"Why clothes?" She shouted in response to Kaen's statement. She was already annoyed at Morisei for suggesting the same thing. She pouted and crossed her arms over her breasts. "Will clothes, tell what do?" She was eager to allow the man to start, but more eager still to announce that she was going to become the best goat dang shinobi this village had ever seen. Although, she still wasn't entirely sure what a shinobi was. All she had to go on were stories from her childhood, and murmurings at the nobleman's mansion. She knew they were supposed to be the strongest fighters in the hidden villages, and Chi would become the strongest of them all.

"Will clothes, tell what do?" Perfect, now that we have that established, at least for today, Kaen would be able to focus on something other than... well, her. He had been doing some critical thinking over the last couple of days, regarding certain rash decisions he had made. Why exactly he made these choices, choices that were normally outside the norm for someone such as Kaen. Choices like letting a stranger, a kid no less, into his home. Yes he was his son, but he was still unsure what that really meant. Kaen had no idea how to be a good father, the only "Father" he had tortured and experimented on him. Aside from that he only had his mother, but she had been dead since he was a child, and that was before he was kidnapped and taken to that lab. All that aside, now he also had a warrior princess living with him, also a stranger to a degree. Perhaps through the years, his aging has matured his mind to think of other things besides battle and dominance. Or he was bored, maybe both? Anyway...

"I've been thinking, regarding your situation. The whole Ichiro issue, and your staff. There is a chance that you may find him on your own, but I think that if we work together we will be able to expedite the process." Being vague was proving to be difficult. How could he say what he wanted to say without leaking information that is solely for the black ops and need-to-know types such as the Kazekage. But I suppose headfirst was the best way, stumbling about or not. "What I mean to say is... I may know someone that would know where he is. But I can't tell you any of it because you are an outsider." Chi would likely be upset by this news. Withholding information on something so desperately important to her would likely get a rise out of her. "Before you get upset though," He would start again, possibly with raised hands depending on whether she drew her spear on him out of vexation. "I also know a way to change this fact and resolve the issue, making it possible to divulge all the information you may need. But there are some crucial, and very important decisions you would have to make." His tone would steer itself towards something more serious, but not aggressive.

Assuming she would agree to hear him out, or what he most likely expected to take place would be her holding him hostage until he told her what she wanted to know. This thought was a humorous one, but not entirely an impossible situation. Chi was like a wild animal, often times seemingly unpredictable. But what made her even more dangerous, and attractive in his opinion, was her human intelligence that was behind the wheel of that wild animal. Something about that primal connection stirred something within Kaen, perhaps his own primal connection with his Ancient linage of the Flame Court. But we are getting off track, let us redirect this little thought. Assuming.... Assuming... Oh yes, assuming Chi would hear him out he would continue; "There is a certain organization of shinobi hidden and faceless. These shinobi are the best of the best, the elite. Specially chosen by those within to be recruits and train under them. But it is a very secretive group, nobody knows anybody else, or at least who they really are. They take aliases, code names to go by while they perform their various missions and duties." Ugh... he was seriously butchering this explanation. Chi being a foreigner to the world of Shinobi made it more difficult to translate what she needed to know, but what she could actually know without getting himself into trouble should she say no to his proposition. His intent behind all this was to have Chi join the Anbu as a recruit, under his tutelage. "What do you think? Is this something that would interest you?"

Naku arrived holding Chi's outfit in his mouth. How he knew she needed her clothes was uncertain, but he did. He dropped the clothes at Chi's feet and she knelled down to pet him. She picked up her clothes and started dressing as Katzenjammer spoke. She was confused about the first part of what he said. She had thought that he agreed to help her already, but she figured she must have misunderstood. He continued, and Chi finished dressed by tying her wolf cloak around her neck. Her eyes widened at the idea that he might know where Ichiro was. Her eyes dilated and her skin began to become flush with anger. As Chi reached for her spear, currently in its dagger form and holstered on her thigh, the man began to beg for Chi's equanimity.

"Speak fire man." She said coldly, her hand resting on her thigh just in case she didn't like what she heard. She was starting to get a better picture of what the man was suggesting. It was, quite possibly, the same thing she had gone in search of him for. She relaxed, pulling her hand away from her thigh and crossing her arms. She was listening. She could have tried to gain the information by force, it was what she did when she was in the forest fighting off poachers. She understood enough to know that there was a reason her host couldn't divulge the information she sought so willingly. It was the same reason she was attempting to push through the ranks. She needed to be high up in this civilization, not at the bottom. She was a princess after all, and her state in the village wouldn't do. The mansion was a nice touch, though.

The idea of a secret organization intrigued Chi. She didn't need Ichiro knowing she was getting closer to him, when she did, and hiding her identity would make it more likely that he'll think it's just the regular shinobi of the village. At his final query Chi paused and rubbed her chin. She was thinking but not about whether or not to join, but rather whether or not Morisei knew this would happen. He seemed to know things beyond himself, even though he was trapped in a weapon. He was always listening and gathering information. He was centuries old so it was quite possible he pulled this together.

"No." Morisei appeared to Chi's side. She didn't look at him but Morisei knew she could hear him but the other couldn't. "This is just dumb luck. You seem to be blessed with that." He chuckled and began to float around to the Chi's other side. He whispered in her ear, "do it."

"Yes." Chi blurted out. "Interest? Yes. How do?" Morisei grinned and his form appeared to be sucked back into the weapon. Chi became tense again, as she did with most unexpected encounters with Morisei. He had his own interests that didn't necessarily coincide with her own. She knew his knowledge would be needed to complete this mission, and at the very least he wouldn't allow Chi to fail in retrieving his staff. He needed that staff. He didn't like Ichiro. It only made sense for him to aid her in finding Ichiro and yet he refused to give her any answers outright. It was as if it were some kind of test.

"Perfect!" A sly smile spread across his face to the point where Chi might suspect he was up to no good. But honestly he was just excited. It had been a while since he found, and convinced for that matter, someone strong and capable enough to be initiated. And not just capable, but experienced with combat and survival, exactly the type of Anbu he was looking to fill the ranks with. "Now that you are dressed," Pausing a moment to kneel and attempt to scratch Naku behind the ears. Attempt would be a key word, it was almost as if this goat was more intelligent than a normal bleater and seemed to naturally distrust humans. But that could just be Chi's influence over the beast. "thanks to this little guy of course."

Standing back up to his upright position he would turn and beckon Chi to follow him. "Come with me." Kaen would lead her through the empty house and then outside to the courtyard. A plethora of vegetation grew here, as well as a lavish pond which was shaded by a large and looming tree. Knowing that the courtyard area, in the rear of the estate, was for the most part concealed Kaen would not bother checking to see if anyone was watching. And even if they were, they wouldn't see the pair for much longer. Saying nothing Kaen would walk out towards the center of the pond and turn to chi who would either be following closely behind, or stayed on the bank of the pond in confusion. With a playful wink he would stop focusing chakra on the bottom of his feet.

Anyone who's ever done shinobi like training knows exactly what happens when you can't channel chakra properly, or at all, into the soles of your feet when walking up a wall or water. You fall, or in this case, sink. And lo and behold, Kaen sunk like a rock and 'blooped' out of view with a tiny splash. He would wait a moment, under the surface of the water, while holding his breath for Chi to follow. Once he knew she was in the water he would turn away and start to swim towards the bottom of the pond. It was not a natural forming pond, mind you, and was sculpted and dug out by whomever Sousuke hired to complete the estate. But during construction Kaen made a special request to Lord Sousuke to include a secret addition. It was located near the bottom, but the entrance was not on the bottom. Off to the side a large grouping of underwater brush swayed lightly underwater, rays of sunshine danced merrily on the bottom of the pond. The plants seemed to be connected directly to the side of the pond's walls and appeared to serve as nothing more than decoration. At least until Kaen swam directly into it without making contact with the side of the wall.

A small, circular pipe lay behind the camouflaging plants, dim lights lined the side of the tunnel in a straight line that showed them the way through. It extended downwards for about fifty feet before suddenly turning up. Finally he breached the surface of the water and took in the first, fresh breath of air. Once Chi resurfaced she would find herself in a small room, no larger than one of the closets inside the estate, plus extra room for the the watery hole they just climbed out of. There was, however, a metallic door that blocked their way any further into this mysteriously hidden dungeon room. Intricate designs were etched across the surface of the polished Takahashi Steel door, all of which seemed to spread out from the center of the door. He had requested additional measures be placed to ensure nobody would be able to enter without consent and had it attuned to his particular chakra. Thus, upon placing his hand, palm face down, against the center of the door he would emit fiery chakra, his flame court aura spiking lightly which illuminated the small enclosure.

And then gears whirred to life, heavy clanking filled the air of the small room they were in. And then the door rose up into the ceiling revealing another, much larger, room. It appeared empty save for a large light source in the center of the room on the roof. Upon entering the door Kaen would press a few buttons on a keypad and a few of the sections of a nearby wall opened up to reveal a number of things. One, for instance, was a row of pristine, white masks that recruits often wore during their apprentice phase. Taking one from its place he would toss it to Chi. "Try it on, make sure you can see alright. They aren't one size fits all. But they are required so you might as well get used to the fit, for now anyway." Another section of the wall revealed Kaen's own, worn and tattered Anbu attire with a custom mask. "Once you are promoted you are permitted to design you own mask as you see fit." He would let Chi process and soak this all in. He wondered if she knew he had something like this hidden under his back yard. Then again maybe this was just a guy thing, wanting to have your own personal Shinku cave. "Just so you are fully aware though, Chi. Entrance into Sunagakure's Anbu Black Ops is not free of charge. You need to prove you're actually capable. do you think you have what it takes?" There were a number of ways to gain entrance into the Anbu, but Kaen's preferred method was trial by fire, literally.

He seemed overly excited that Chi had agreed to his proposal. Perhaps he would have been less excited if he knew she already planned on doing just that. Except this seemed different in a way that would present Chi with more opportunities than if she was a plain shinobi. She took a deep breath as Kaneelkussentjes began to pet her brother. Naku was overjoyed, and Chi smiled at their interaction. She was glad that Naku seemed to like him so much, but she wasn't sure why it matter so much to her. While she was thinking about this he stood back up and beckoned her. She followed.

They arrived at the mansion's courtyard not long after that. Chi spent a lot of time here. It was the only place she knew of in Suna that had vegetation, so it reminded her of home to some degree. She said hello to her favorite plants as they passed, waving and speaking to them in her native language. She was so distracted she almost didn't notice that Kaen had walked up onto the pond's surface. She took a step in and quickly retracted her foot at the unexpected moisture. She shook her bare foot and watched the man as he walked towards the center of the pond, then Chi did the same.

She placed her foot in front of her and channeled her energy into the bottom of it. As she placed it on the pond's surface it froze. This happened every time Chi tried to walk on water, and she chalked it up to her affinity for ice techniques. She was connected to nature on a level that made interactions with it involving her energy to manifest in various ways. She followed him, each step forming an ice print in the water that quickly melted away. When he reached his destination he stopped, looked at Chi, and then fell into the water. It was obvious he wouldn't have done this without purpose so Chi followed him.

The swam through a tunnel that was barely lit. Chi could just make out Kalon's form swimming in front of her. An excellent swimmer, Chi made it to the other side without any problem. She emerged from the water into a small room with her companion. There was a door made of metal that seemed to be their next destination. Chi watched as he opened the door by using his chakra. It reminded her of when he gave her chakra back when they first met. She blushed when she had this thought but then she shook her head and followed behind the man.

She was given a white mask and told to try it on. She didn't much care for it. She put it over her face and looked toward Kanurd. She smiled behind it and gave him a thumbs up. Chi looked around the large room and examined it. There wasn't much to examine, since it was completely empty. She took a few steps away from the man and explored a little while he talked. She tilted the mask up over her head after ensuring she'd be able to see through it while fighting. The last thing he said was a question, and one that Chi knew the answer to instinctively.

"Yes."
She said boldly. She was always ready for anything, be it an attack or… Well, she wasn't ready for the man to push his chakra inside her. She blushed again and covered her face with the mask. She wasn't sure what kind of challenge she was going to be up against but she knew that she had to overcome it to get the information she needed. Now she waited for him to present her with said challenge.

Again a devilish smile revealed itself to Chi, Kaen's razor sharp teeth exposed. This was the sort of thing he lived for, the thrill of battle was nigh irresistible for him even in his older, calmer years. "Good, I hope so." Pushing the exposed shelves back into the wall he would go on to explain further. "The room we're in has been reinforced per my request. So long as neither of us goes all out we should be safe from a cave in. Now... Normally I would test a candidate by having them demonstrate various skills, see where they might fit best, what they needed improvement on. But you are different. You have a very unique skillset that can't adhere to such strict screening procedures." Kaen would walk a short distance away from chi, closer towards the center of the room. "So we will just see how good you are at surviving instead." Suddenly Kaen's body would explode with fire, a scene Chi would not be entirely unfamiliar with. Their first meeting was similar, but only that. Similar. This time the heat was unbridled and unrestrained. The room turned into a literal furnace, the temperature was quickly rising. "Let's see if you can withstand the heat and live up to your title, warrior princess." With arms extended to each side another wave of heat exuded outwards, threatening to ignite the very air around them. Already the paneling underneath the Hybrid was beginning to turn orange in response to the intense heat pouring out from Kaen. "Ladies first..."

It began to become uncomfortably hot, as if designed to weaken opponents with Kadoodle’s aura alone. She felt the heat and accepted it, using her chakra to cool the air around her. It wasn’t as powerful as Kaen’s aura, but it was enough that her aura could keep her from burning as she did in the desert under the blaze of the sun. Then he mocked her, stating that they would see if she could live up to her title. She was the firstborn of the Shizen family, as far as she was aware, and heir to the throne as a Goddess Queen of her people. Beyond that she was a warrior, and she wouldn’t let anyone go easy on her. She didn’t care how reinforced the room was, she was about to throw down.

Chi dropped to all fours and her aura manifested visibly now as a golden flame that enveloped her. She snarled like a wild animal, but she was calm. She could barely feel her heartbeat as she entered a meditative state, allowing her to feel the energy of the earth flow through her. She began to change form slightly. Her eyes glowed the same golden color as her aura and her pupils became rectangular like a goat’s. Her hands and bare feet began hard like stone, forming tough calluses to mimic hooves. She had become feral, and with a quick dance of her hands she summoned a large rock that shot out towards her opponent.

The man dodged. He disappeared and reappeared again but then there were three of him. She scoffed, finding it humorous that he thought that could stop her. She had encountered clones before and was versed in the art herself. These felt weak, but she still couldn’t tell which was the real him. Then Chi was hit by some sort of invisible force that knocked her on her ass. She sat up quickly and then jumped to her feet. She became light-headed and her vision blurred considerably. She tried to shake it off, but it wasn’t fading quickly. She chose to ignore it when Morisei called out to her.

“Summon me you twit!” Morisei demanded. She didn’t like his attitude but he was right. She needed to bring him out to receive his full power. So she reached under her dress and pulled out her weapon in dagger form. With a swing of her arm, it expanded into a spear. She pounded the blunt end into the ground and performed handseals, while she did so the spear stood perfectly in place. Then suddenly chains appeared, coming from the spear itself and forming a humanoid shape in the air like a sarcophagus made of metal. Out of one side an arm appeared, ripping the chains from the face area to reveal a physical Morisei.

“It’s time to get funky, Kaen!” He laughed like a crazed person before the chains enveloped him again and sucked him into the spear. Had this been Morisei’s staff it would have become a beautiful weapon with many flourishes. Instead, it simply changed shape as it always did. This time it took on the appearance of a shark, with a serrated blade and a fin on the blunt side of the single-edged sword. While under the influence of the summoned Morisei the blade moved, whipping around like a fish out of water. Then it spoke to Chi through her mind.

“Let’s do this.”

“Right.” She looked around her and at the three Kooper-doopers. They began to move around swiftly, almost dancing as if to confuse Chi. She rolled her eyes and formed her special brand of handseals with her free hand. Out of the ground a giant spike came forth, targeting one of her opponents. Honestly, she had no idea which one was the real one and was shooting blind. She didn’t care, in either case she’d be that much closer to finding the real one. The attack hit, and the target didn’t vanish. She was sure that was the real one and she was ready to get serious again.

Round 1 RP said:
Nearly simultaneously the ferocious pair burst into action. Kaen erupting in malevolent flames while Chi underwent a most intriguing transformation. Chi hugged closely to the ground as she contorted her body into a more wild, animalistic form, a radiant hue of golden fire. Kaen's eyes widened in response to this gleaming visage of power, so raw and unkempt, it excited him only further. Just as he was about to comment on her fervent, savage form she summoned a boulder which shot directly for him. Had he not been prepared it surely would have caused significant pain and damage.

As burst into a wild inferno the boulder would pass through unhindered and slammed up against the opposite wall causing a sizable dent in the infrastructure. Reforming into three pairs of Kaen one would speak up and convey his unsavory feelings towards the event. "You dented my wall!" A slight twitch of the eye he would slowly turn his head towards the crouching Chi. "If you're gonna break my stuff then you better do it right. Show me what you can really do, let's get dangerous." The unintentional darkwing reference would be enough to distract the wilding as the Hybrid dashed forward with incredible speed and force. Had he missed he would have been put in a tight spot with his footing and balance, but Chi's body served as a most excellent recoil absorbing object.

The first strike was off course slightly, but the follow up was dead on and caused her to stagger slightly, opening herself up even further. A flurry of handseals later and an unseen force cascaded from his now pushed forward, open palm. Kinetic energy rippled outwards and sent Chi several meters backwards, and rolling on the floor. Dazed and confused she would rise back up and pull forth her dagger-like weapon. Unsure of the method she utilized Kaen would analyze this potential recruit, looking for weaknesses as well as strengths. This was not just a means to satisify the Flame Court's lust for battle and action, no. The Anbu would do well to have Chikara among their ranks, but there were certain dances that must be danced to appease big brother. Thankfully Kaen was of good spirit and gleefully accepted the obligatory requirements.

Though Kaen knows a tiny bit about Morisei, he'd never been formally introduced. The fact that a creepy spirit lived inside Chi's weapon was almost more unsettling than the actual reveal. The offer of getting 'funky' was a new one for him, and the maniacal laughter that followed would have sent the average shinobi running. Fortunetly for this specific Sunan he was not the average type, additionally he used this interesting technique himself. Or rather Sprinkles did, though I suppose he doesn't like being called that anymore. Anyway, he knew this would give Chi an incredible boost of power, he wondered just how she would fair with the next volley of blows. He would not make it easy on her, however. He wanted to see just how far she could go when she was pushed back into the corner. Would she fight or flee? The answer came swiftly as another piece of stone was unearthed from the floor and sent cacapulting towards Kaen. Apparently he and his clones were having a dance off and failed to notice the incoming projectile. But Chi has bad aim, so he only made it out with a light scratch. "Well that was rude! Can't you see I'm trying to get funky?" Jest or otherwise, this battle was only getting started, round 1 you could even say. Surely the next ten seconds would be just as thrilling, and funky of course.

Act I, Chapter VI: Opportunities Abound, Chikara's New Path!

Chi didn’t care that she had dented the wall. She didn’t care about anything in that moment except her prey. She may have been raised by goats but she was no pushover. Once she was the most feared predator in her forest, but now she could barely keep up with a man who’s foolish enough to play with fire. She grits her teeth as she forms a giant wooden stake at her opponent. He counters with a flaming dragon, of course, and it turns her attack to ash and burns her in the process.
As she’s reeling from the sudden attack she sees Kaen somehow atop a mass of earth hurdling towards her. She summons three clones but somehow her opponent is able to find her. She wonders how his senses are so keen as she uses a technique to lower her weight, causing her to become lighter on her feet. Just after she does this he comes at her with another attack. She sees it at the last minute and manages to disappear, leaving two clones in her stead. The attack hits one of her clones luckily, but she’s not out of the woods yet.
“You need to get more aggressive!” Morisei shouts in Chi’s mind. She shushes him and coats his blade in poison as her clones create more dents in the walls. She growls as all of her attempts to attack the man fail. She contemplates her next move as a second round of dents splatter the walls.

In the blink of an eye Chikara had formed a series of seals that caused a massive branch to sprout up through the floor. Jumping back in response Kaen was already spewing forth a fiery dragon from his own fiery, dragon-like maw. With a ferocious roar he dismantled the tree splinter by burning splinter until nothing was left. The remaining force continued forward in its flaming inertia and set Chikara aflame. Grinning with much satisfaction at his own works he set himself up for further advantage against Chi. The earth now plainly visible inside the chamber created by Chi's wooden attack shifted and stirred as Kaen's chakra breathed life into it. It shifted underneath the fire user and carried him around like a dirt chauffeur.

Chi would surround herself with a trio of wannabes, as if this was going to fool Kaen. He easily spotted the real Chi and would chide her for it. "Come now Chi, clones can be fun but let's be honest. You aren't going to be doing much with them except wasting your chakra. I can see right through you!" This was something that I'm just not sure Kaen can really help. His tone, attitude and cocky behavior in the midst of battle. Such strong compulsions to egg the enemy on further and further just to incite further violence. All to sate his cravings, his complete love for battle. After another string of seals a pair of ashen tendrils slithered across the floor towards Chi, but they would not find their mark as she disappeared and reappeared some distance away. But he would not give up easily. "Ha! I got you now!" And then one of the tendrils seized Chi, or at least something he thought was chi. Just as the jutsu connected and had her in his grips, she poofed into a cloud of smoke. It was merely a clone...

"I uh... Stand corrected regarding my previous statements..." How embarrassing, to be showed up just after chiding her for the use of the clones. As Kaen would proceed to nurse his ego he manipulated wind chakra in a flurry around himself to aid against Chi's attacks. The testing and prodding was over now, it was time for him to turn up the heat a little, put a little pressure on the wildling and see if she squirms.

Konstantinople was strong, and was definitely more than a match for Chi. She recognized this more and more as they continued to spar. Her burns were fierce and in the excitement of it all, she almost didn’t notice the cursed energy that began to flow through her opponent. Morisei did. He could taste it and it made him excited. He didn’t want the battle to end, especially not with Chi losing. He became empowered and shouted at the man from his weapon form.

“You have some explaining to do Kaen!” Chi hushed her spirit companion. “I can feel that we are the same now!” Again Chi hushed him and stabbed him into the ground. “You bitch!” He yelled, pulling himself out of the ground and floating back to her. She performed a variety of handseals and soon the majority of the room was encased in water. She grabbed him through the mini ocean she had created and began to float herself, only partially taking damage from the wave of earth her opponent had summoned.

Her clones continued to bombard her adversary with stone bullets while she prepared to slice and dice. Several of her slices hit the man and the water around them began to fill with blood. She smiled. A part of her enjoyed the sight of blood but it didn’t feel like her at all. Suddenly she was blind-sighted by an attack, then all of her clones were taken out as well in one fell swoop. In the end, she had been harmed more than she had caused harm, and yet again she felt powerless. She felt what she felt both times her family was slaughtered right under her nose, while she was unable to protect them. She felt her need for vengeance surfacing.

“I… I can not fail!” She yelled, tossing Morisei into the air. “I will… Be strong, Konner!”

Fervent orange hues danced across Chikara's body as Kaen's flames lingered, unwilling to cease their incessant burning. Again the Hybrid would smile widely in response to the ever growing passion of the fight, the intense thrill it provided him was nearly intoxicating. He couldn't resist it, he wanted more. It had been a long time since he was able to go head to head like this, no REAL chance of danger, but the thrill was invigorating all the same for him. And so, nearly out of his own volition, he would channel a dark power bestowed upon him by the great Mother Suna herself. The well of souls within bubbled to the surface in the form of malicious, dark energy that darkened the very air around him. His flames grew darker, and hotter, taking on a more crimson color as opposed to their normal red-orange hues. This would in turn stir up the attention of Chikara's weapon counterpart, the spirit known as Morisei.

“You have some explaining to do Kaen! I can feel that we are the same now!” While he didn't know entirely all that much about Morisei, he always seemed to find a way to pique Kaen's interests further. Kaen could feel the malevolent energy radiating from Chi's weapon, from Morisei. His own energy seemed to resonate with the spirit in some way, both shared a link to a deeper darkness. "You're quite perceptive, Morisei. I hope this is funky enough for y--" Suddenly a massive wave of water crashed into Kaen sending his body flying backwards and crashing into the far wall. Violent, dreadful hisses filled the airwaves as Kaen's flames were put out by the water. He was too caught up talking to Chi's weapon he didn't notice what Chi was doing. He felt a pain from within his chest and the concussive force knocked the wind out of him. Along with the air that escape his lungs blood also started to exude from his mouth, slowly dissolving and mixing with the cold water that filled the room. As Kaen nearly went unconscious from the decisive strike dealt to him, his earth wave attack drifted slowly towards Chi only dealing minor damage due to being slowed by the water.

As his body slowly sank to the bottom of the room Chi's clones would assault him further, tiny rocks zipping through the water like tiny torpedoes. His body would be still for a few moments, seemingly unresponsive. But just before Chi prepared her next dastardly the water around Kaen's body began to bubble lightly, then slowly building up to a near boil. His power was rising, as was his anger. While it was one thing to be blind sided by an attack, but to add insult to injury with it being made of water? Chi knew just what buttons to push. Soon his rage exploded and the water around him began to be pushed back by the force of his own energy. As he stood a vengeful red hue emanated from his eyes as he stared daggers at his prey. Prey? No, he was fighting Chi, testing her for the Anbu. Thoughts like these kept trying to creep up from the inner recesses of his mind. Morisei would most definitely feel Kaen's intent, the craving to keep going until one or the other perished. But Kaen kept it in check for now.

But Chi didn't care and burst straight towards him with her weapon prepared. She was no average individual and wouldn't be repelled by chakra energy being expelled like some cheap chump. She was mighty and ferocious in her movement, speed and skill, and even despite being up against Kaen she was fairing remarkably well. It should be considered a win if she was able to push him to this point. He had no intention on summoning him. In his building rage he would pay no mind to Chikara's attack and let her do as she pleased. As she darted back and forth around him slicing and dicing her way right round like a record baby, Kaen was building up his chakra for a grand reveal. Moments before he pulled the trigger he felt the effects of Chi's devious ploy. The edges of his vision faltered for the briefest of moments, it wasn't 'looking' good. Get it, cuz twilight poison makes you blind...

ANYWAY!

Powerful, dangerous energy whipped violently around Kaen as he pushed even further beyond. Summoning up a well of power that could potentially rival the very power of Primus himself. Had it been Kaen there instead of Homura mankind would not have won that day. Or at least this is how Kaen was feeling right about now, with a jillion metric tons crazy flowing through his body. With the limit now broken, dashed asunder by his own will and desire for victory, he would charge with incredible speed towards Chi and all of her minions. Though he had no oxygen, still essentially submerged by the aqua realm he found himself in, he pushed through the pain. Assuming he still felt that anymore. Unable to fully control the power that now flowed through his veins he rocketed towards Chikara with a devastating blow. His intertia propelled him even further and made contact with the watery barrier Chi had erected to lock them in together. Upon impact the jutsu would shatter and the water would quickly drain leaving Kaen free and open to continue this one fell swoop attack onward into her clones. With labored breathing Kaen would slowly turn towards Chi. Unable to think clearly enough to speak, at the moment, he would only breath heavily while staring deep into Chi's eyes. Further even, he could almost taste her, taste her succulent soul! Again Kaen would need to push back the urge, he needed to adhere to Sousuke's conditions. Chikara is not food Kaen!!!

Before the clashing could continue Kaen would raise an armored hand. His visor would lift up to reveal his face to Chi, a smile would be seen as he was overjoyed with Chi's performance. Though she was a foreigner, born from the wilds, unkempt and not knowledgeable of shinobi ways, she performed admirably regardless. Her skills were impressive, able to hold her own against even a Captain of the Anbu. "That's enough, I have what I need. Well done, Chi. Tetsugo, you're free to go, thank you." In a plume of ivory smoke Kaen's armor would reverse summon itself back to wherever spirits go to rest. Taking a deep breathe to steady himself, Kaen would take a much needed reprieve. His excitement that threatened to overcome his mind coupled with Chi's incredible strength had caused him to need to calm his rapidly beating heart. "I'm very satisfied, just a moment." Reaching into his pocket he would pull forth a scroll that was neatly wrapped with a piece of red ribbon. "Here, this is yours now. In it you will find a seal that, once activated, will procure your basic Anbu mask. In time we will be able to acquire a more custom fit mask tailored to your needs and design desires. But for now this will have to do."

Kaen would hand Chikara the scroll and place a hand on her shoulder. "I'm very excited to have you on our team, Chi. I know I'll be able to count on you. But first..." Releasing his hand from her shoulder he would continue. "There are a number of rules that must be strictly followed in order for you to remain in this order. First and foremost you can never let anyone else know of your identity or affiliation with the Anbu. Not even Hato. Knowledge of this can be used as a weapon against you by any sort of enemy, and you WILL make them. Our line of work is not kindly looked upon, but is one born out of necessity. Secondly..." Kaen would go on to inform Chikara of the various tasks, duties and regulations that came tethered to this new title. It would not be a lengthy discussion, but one that was required before she could be officially initiated. At the end of the day, however, Chikara had successfully joined the ranks of the Sunagakurian Anbu with the rank of Anbu in Training. Kaen had no doubt in his mind that she would quickly rise from this lowly rank to a full fledged Anbu. And Kaen had fulfilled part of his duties in his efforts to expand the Anbu per Teken's orders. Everything was coming together. The board was set, the pieces set in motion.

It seemed that Chi’s opponent had seen all he needed to see. The fighting stopped suddenly as Kaen lifted a hand to signal the woman to stop. She hesitated but it was clear he wasn’t planning to fight anymore. Morisei whined about it being unfair and how he wanted to spill more blood. Chi quieted him so she could listen to the man speaking to her. She returned Morisei’s physical form to the other plane and the weapon shape-shifted back into a dagger. Kaen handed her a scroll with a seal inside which she immediately activated, revealing a very basic looking mask. She wasn’t keen on the idea of wearing a mask, not that a mask would really hide her identity anyway. Her attire was more than enough to give her away. This was something she would have to fix later. Kaen went into detail on the rules and regulations involved in the ANBU. Chi didn’t care much for that. She wanted the position to get more information on Ichiro and more resources to find him. She listened anyway, not wanting to risk getting kicked before she could learn anything.
