The moist wood creaked against the uneven nails that held the dock together as the boy stepped off the equally aged boat. Ren did not doubt that it was seaworthy when he had stepped aboard it two days prior, but it could have used much more maintenance than it had received. That was in the past, if only for a day. His mission on the country was simple, make his way to the Grand Temple and escort his target from Moon Country and back into the safe care of the mission requester. The escort was a willing one, and there were no anticipated delays, incidents or foreseen obstacles, but such things were rarely foreseen by the client. With nothing but the clothes on his back, Ren walked down the creaking pier and towards the small village they had landed at, the small ship's captain staring oddly at the boy, who had not even bothered to say goodbye to the man who had just spent two days on the ocean ferrying him.
