Kazuma sat at the table in his family's dining room pouring over some scrolls his mother had. They detailed the disease that took his father's life, as well as the treatment for the sickness. His mother wasn't a ninja of the village, however with her knowledge of herbology and basic medicine she became one of the more accomplished citizen doctors of the village. It was this mixture of medicine that held of the disease that claimed his father for several years, and ultimately lead the two to get married and have Kazuma.
The young man rubbed his eyes tiredly as the words on the scroll began to blur and move. He had been reading the scroll for the past hour. His mother was out at the hospital treating a patient that had stomach problems, and had given Kazuma the scroll when he asked for it. She had told him that it was more advanced than he was ready for, but smiled at the request. It made him feel good that he could put a smile on his mother's face even after the passing of his father. Only now he was regretting his decision.
With a sigh Kazuma rolled up the scroll and set it to the side. He sat there with his head in his hands trying to piece together the parts he understood, but ended up laying his head down on the table in defeat. His mother was an accomplished doctor in the village. Not as skilled or as gifted as the medical ninjas, but good enough to take care of the minor cases that came into the hospital. He wanted to become as great as her in the medical community. Her equal as a medical ninja, which meant to him become the greatest medical ninja in the world. Great enough to even cure the disease that claimed his father.
Taking a book that lay nearby Kazuma opened it up to a passage he had been reading about. This book was one on basic biology of the human body, and he was reading up on the muscles of the arms. He had finished the chapter about the skin two weeks ago, and now he was working his way into the inner workings of humans. He had skipped ahead and read a little about the digestive track, but he was really looking forward the chapter on bones. Maybe if he read that chapter the scroll would make more sense.
