A splash of water kicked over the side of the boat, waking Muji from his daydream. He hadn't even noticed he had let his mind wander. Thankfully, he was in control of his mind enough not to let the nightmares seep back in. Two years of meditation of silent exile were a heavy price to pay, but it worked. Now, he was ready to head back toward the mainland, the place he came from originally. The sage had come to Moon Country with grand designs and a whole retinue of followers and comrades. Now, he was returning alone.
A part of him wondered what might've been if he remained with them. By some miracle, would he have been able to save them from themselves? They were all brave, but not all believed as Muji did. Some only wanted the next great battle, while others sought glory or power. It was only a matter of time before they went their separate ways. If he did manage to keep them united, though...what might've been? It was hard to imagine. The grand plan he envisioned so long ago had been meticulously crafted, but now, it was just a bad memory.
The Rikudo Sennin shook it from his mind and focused back to the moving water below. He had boarded a ship, and had only just noticed that they had left the dock. Soon, they would arrive at the mainland, and he would have to find a new path toward his ultimate goal.
