Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

(OOC: Just wanna do a little sparring, haven't actually had a spar since I've joined the site so.)

Randori made sure to wake up early, as in have his classmate wake him up earlier than usual on his day off. When the sun rose, he was already prepared to go to the place he wanted. As he made his way out of the Academy, he heard people teasing him, as usual, about the sword on his back which was bigger than him. He ignored these remarks, but walked slightly faster out of frustration each time a classmate said this. After getting off of the Academy's grounds, he began sprinting to the Colosseum as a bit of a warm up for what he hoped would be a tiring day. Upon arriving at the colosseum, he took a moment to catch his breath before cracking his neck and making his way inside. 'God I hope I didn't come all the way out here just to figure out there's an age requirement..." He thought to himself as people inside gave him strange looks.

When he entered the ring, he looked up in amazement at how drastically the view changes from the stands to the actual battlefield. Remembering why he was he, he became extremely focused and made his way to the side of the ring opposite the entrance. There, he took his sword off his back, leaned against the wall, and held his sword between his legs and underneath his crossed arms, being careful not to cut himself. "Somebody better come soon, I don't want to wait here forever." He said to himself as he watched the entrance with great focus. He sighed as he took a moment to look up at the morning sky, it was still fairly cold since the sun hadn't been out for long. When he looked back at the entrance, he noticed just how quiet it was, it was hard to even hear the people outside..

One of the academy teachers had told Akira of a boy who he might be interested in meeting. One Soruja Randori. He used a large sword. Akira remembered him from his own lesson that he taught at the Academy, only a short time before he once more became the Sennin of ANBU. It would be interesting to see what techniques the boy was going to use.

The workers at the coliseum let the boy into the centre, telling him his opponent would be in there shortly.

As the boy looked around at the size of the ring his eyes would eventually fall on the monster of a sensei he'd had a week or so earlier.

It looks like I will be testing you today Randori.

His hand reached up and took hold of the monster blade which sat on his own back.

Lets see where you're at. A small smile on his face appeared. He did enjoy fighting the youth, though they would never truly understand how much he held back, it was more the enjoyment of fighting someone who was doing their best as they had nothing to lose by doing anything else. The enjoyment over time getting to see how they adapt, grow and what they eventually become.

Randori smiled as the man that had once been his sensei entered the ring, he probably wasn't as scared as he should be really. Being excited that he finally got to see how the sword he carried around on his back is meant to be used, and see how the sword he was once so intrigued with would look while being wielded correctly. He lifted his sword onto his shoulder as he moved away from the wall and walked slowly toward Akira.

"I suppose so, I hope you can keep up, sensei." He said in a joking manner before stopping and stabbing his sword into the sand and bowing to him as a sign of respect.

"Sorry about not bowing a while ago, forgot to that day since I was tired. But I suppose that's not really an excuse." He pulled his sword back out of the ground and returned it to his shoulder, he was getting to be able to lift this sword much easier now that he's had time to get used to it. Looking up at the sky one last time before he had what he assumed would be a difficult battle, he got excited to see how fast he'd be able to swing his sword now.

"Ready whenever you are, sensei!"

Lets go then... He said simply, perhaps ignoring the previous apologies and everything else. He was here to test the boy, if those things had mattered he might have considered them before turning up.

Pulling his sword out he decided not to bother with the tricks or abilities that he could use on the other. He would fight him with the sword, the sword alone. He'd utilise taijutsu and his vast knowledge of Taijutsu, none of his wealth of Ninjutsu or his growing knowledge of Genjutsu would be brought into this combat.

Simply pulling the sword out of its sheath was an offensive act, the blade was easily larger than the boy it was being swung at and Akira knew he would need to be careful, though he was a very mature shinobi by now and knew how to stop a strike at any moment.

The blade swept downwards and should it have struck it would have had enough force to split the boy in half, the sound of the blade slamming into the earth echoed around the arena as he spun his body around, the blade only moving a small amount until like winding up a spring it gained momentum and swept around in a wide arc, the tip of the blade grating in the sand as it spun around, lifting to waist height once reaching the peak momentum.

Akira watched the boy as he'd react to his attacks, and decided this was a good time to give the other some time to regroup and make his own attacks. The difference in speed would have been such that Akira was likely able to push an attack on the boy constantly until the boy fell from exhaustion purely from defending himself with no time to attempt any attacks of his own. But that wasn't why he was here.

Smiling as he could hear the sound of the blade meeting the earth echo through the stands, and watching as it began spinning around. He quickly stabbed his sword as deep into the ground as he could and moved to the opposite side of where Akira's blade would come into contact with his, when it did, he slid back about a foot. He underestimated the power of the attack quite a bit, and hurt his arms trying to hold his sword still. Looking at the area the sword was struck, he noticed a small chip and quickly fixed it by cutting himself slightly on the area of the blade just above the chip, not bothering to watch as it fixed itself. He quickly lifted the sword back onto this shoulder and ran at Akira; when he was just out of range, he mimicked what Akira had done and slammed his sword into the sand. This made a much quieter sound than his opponents had, but that was not why he did this. He hoped that Akira would expect him to spin the sword just as he had done, but instead he swung it upward while stepping forward, making sure not to use the sharp end in case his plan worked a little to well.

There were aspects to the fight already which intrigued Akira. The boy avoided the downward slash easily, it was an easily read move but Akira had wanted to observe whether he would attempt to divert the overhead strike to open up a counter attacking opportunity, but he hadn't, he'd straight out dodged which had meant that he had been forced to continue defending himself with the next strike of Akira's.

Again the strike was large and easily read, but this time the boy blocked it, knowing his own body weight wouldn't be enough he used the size of his blade by digging it into the ground. This allowed Akira to feel that he didn't need to hold back from the impact, the blades colliding as Akira watched the other attempt to maintain his footing as it slid across the hard sanded earth beneath his feet. The sword scarring the ground as it cut a path showing the distance moved by Akira's strike.

As the boy did Akira noticed he'd caused a chink in the blade, something he immediately thought to take advantage of, but as he pulled his own blade back the boy cut his hand on the chip. The boy lifted the blade and charged at Akira, resting it on himself to help manage the weight without disabling his balance, it was a fair technique when using something which likely weighed almost as much as his own body. But Akira stepped back a couple of steps to give himself the time he needed to observe the chip repairing itself. Normally he'd have been able to do so instantly but he didn't have his bloodline active and so was having to behave in a way he himself wasn't quite used to.

Then the boy mimicked the move Akira had just performed. As Akira bent his legs slightly to attempt to jump the blade and catch the boy unawares at the critical time of the attack it changed. The flat of the blade came upwards which would have caught him in midair if he'd mistimed his counter. Instead Akira spun with speed, his hands no longer holding the blade and instead moving with the speed only an unarmed Hyuuga could manage, the palm of his hand slammed down on the flat of the blade with massive strength behind it. Akira then moving to slam his shoulder into the boy before he'd be able to recover.

Whether dodged or not Akira didn't care, what he'd aimed to do was create distance so he could scold the boy Do not attack me and think you can hold back. We are here to test your abilities to their fullest, I would be considered amongst the strongest tier of the village, attack me and assume I will dodge. If I do not I do not deserve my title.

With that said he would allow the boy to attack once more.

As the his blade was slammed into the ground by Akira, the abrupt stop of his weapon surprised him to much to be able to react to the shoulder coming his way. As it came into contact with Randori, he fell back and rolled backwards to recover, leaving his sword behind. Randori made a quiet "tch" noise and said, "Don't hold back huh? I'm not planning on it now." Needing a way to get his sword back without getting repelled by Akira, Randori began looking around at his surroundings to try and find something he could use, noticing a small rock laying in the sand below him. He picked up the rock in one hand, and any loose sand he could find in another, hoping Akira would only notice the sand as it fell from his hand. "Hope you're ready, I'm coming at you in full force!" He began running at his opponent once more stopping to thrown the sand in his left hand, hoping to blind Akira. He then imbued the rock with chakra and threw it through the sand at Akira, making it move faster than most people of his age and skill level could dodge, or see coming if they're eyes weren't keen enough.

After completing his plan to hopefully distract Akira for long enough to get his sword back, he quickly made a grab for his sword and hopped backwards as far as he could, dragging it through the sand in front of him. "Now that I have this back, let's see what else I can do.." he ran at Akira again, and when he was within about 10 feet of him, began spinning with his sword up, similar to what Akira had done before. When he was just about to make contact with the sword, it was about waist high and he released it, hoping it would continue to go at Akira with the same force it was when he was holding it. He continued the momentum from spinning after releasing the sword and tried hitting Akira with a sweeping motion from his leg, trying to hit his right leg from the inside to avoid being hit by the sword if it fell on him.

The boy found his feet and promised to come at him with full strength. That was good. Both of them were unarmed however and though some might have thought that that might favour the boy seeing as Akira was as old as he was and with such a massive sword that must mean he was a weapon user, they would be wrong. He was Hyuuga, and as such his unarmed skills far surpassed his blade abilities.

Randori ran in having picked up a rock, so Akira was expecting that to come into the attack, he'd not seen the sand as well however so when he came in close and flung them at Akira, Akira moved to avoid them as though it were the rock. The rock came after however and Akira's hand moved faster, moving his head to the right of the rock his right hand came around, his fingertips placed around the edges of the rock. His left foot spun around and as he moved he redirected the rocks path back towards Randori with a small smile on his face.

His sight was as keen as any other Hyuuga, more keen even than an Uchiha, and should Randori dodge the rock it would dig a hole into the ground. Though even if he didn't it would only graze him, Akira deliberately putting the trajectory off slightly so as not to truly injure the young man at this time.

However in between his grabbing the rock and spinning the boy had reclaimed his weapon and was moving backwards. Holding his hand out to the side of him the massive blade which he'd dug into the dirt earlier shuddered against the dirt which bound it. On the hilt what looked to be an eye opened revealing what looked to be a Hyuuga eyeball before it flew through the air, the hilt finding itself into its masters grip before the eye closed once more.

The boy was running at him by now having called out something which Akira had for the most part ignored as probably something said to promote the boys own confidence. Spinning the blade around again Akira watched carefully. There was something different in the boys stance which betrayed his planning something else. Throwing the blade at Akira the boy followed, it was almost like a shadow shuriken technique but with a sword and the boy as the shadow.

Using the flat of his blade he mimicked the boys own defensive technique and dug it into the ground. The boys sword and likely the boys kick both sending vibrations up the length of the sword. Unfortunately because the boy had used the same momentum both blade and leg were spinning in the same direction.

If you're going to make an attack like that make sure that they're coming from different directions. Force your opponent to try defending on multiple fronts or force them to give up territory. He said watching as the boy would recover from the block.

Like this for example. Akira said ominously as he released the hilt of his blade once more and stepped to the side. The eye opened again and the blade flew up seemingly of its own accord before flying at the boy and moving almost as though there were someone holding it.

Using a shadow step technique Akira would suddenly appear behind the boy and would use a basic unarmed technique from behind, a simple chakra enhanced punch. Not enough to do massive damage should it land, but enough to let him know he was there.

The rock grazed Randori's face as he rushed Akira, but he didn't notice it much since he was more focused on the task at hand. As his blade and leg slammed into the side of the sword, which had just flown into it's masters hands, Randori could feel his mistake due to the pain in his shin. Making sure to grab his blade again as it landed in the sand beside him, he quickly retreated backwards. As he had made some distance, he noticed the sword that was once with Akira now flying toward him, and Akira no where to be seen. Quickly looking behind him, since that was the last place to look, he noticed his opponent attacking him just in time to dodge it by ducking down, almost shoving his face into the sand.

Now all he had to worry about was getting away from Akira and avoiding the sword. Hoping that running to the side of what appeared to be the swords designated path, Randori quickly made his way to the wall of the colosseum where he would make his next move. He swung his sword into the wall, managing to break off quite a few chunks of it. There were now rocks of various sizes lying in the sand, which Randori picked up one by, infusing them with chakra and throwing them at Akira as fast as he could. Throwing rocks from each hand, he managed to throw about 10 rocks at Akira before deciding he'd have to move. At this point, he didn't even bother talking since there were to many things he had to focus on, including what direction Akira's sword was flying in case it was able to change direction.

Randori pocketed 2 rocks, mixed with a handful of soft sand as cover, before moving to his next location. After arriving at the center of the colosseum, he threw another rock infused with chakra, this time mixed with sand, at Akira. The rock would hopefully be difficult to see when accompanied by the cloud of sand. He then ran to the other wall of the colosseum and did threw the last rock in the same way he did the previous one. He did all of this in the hopes that it would distract Akira enough for him to be able to hit him. Running at him once more, sword in hand, and began spinning yet again to mimic what he had done before. After letting go of his sword, however, this time he completely stopped spinning and went to punch Akira in the diaphragm, hoping to knock the wind out of him should he hit him. If Akira blocked his punch, he would go in for a kick to the side, on the opposite side of where his sword was thrown.

The boy had noticed his attack despite the distraction of the sword before him. That was good. The fist swung and simply struck air, but the extent to which the boy had been forced to dodge was also noticeable.

He'd dropped his sword once more to pick up stones. Akira frowned. Once when he was already disarmed he could understand, but he was fairly certain that bladed combat was the boys strong suit which meant that he was wasting a lot of his time dropping and picking the blade back up again.

Rocks were being hurled at Akira, many of them and they were travelling quickly. But he wasn't concerned. Instead he simply walked towards the boy, the rocks slamming into him, crumbling and falling off. Yes damage was being done, but it was little, and Akira's toughened hide was able to ignore most of the damage that came his way. The sword flew at Randori as Akira walked, taking a swipe which was dodged as the boy picked up a couple more stones before grabbing his sword and running again. Akira's blade chasing him as he ran.

Akira was a distance away by now due to the moving around the ring as the boy got to the middle. Once more he pulled out a rock and threw it, Akira patting it aside, they were too distant for the rocks to be a threat at this point. There seemed to be some sand in that throw as well, but it didn't reach him. Standing still Akira was now three quarters of the stadium away from the boy as he reached the other side of the stadium to turn and throw another rock. This one simply flew wide, slightly but still wide as the boy drew his sword again. Akira's blade made a series of strikes at the boy which were defended by him while Akira simply stood and watched.

When Randori finally found a break in the assault he managed to break free from the blade, turned and rushed at Akira. His blade once more dragging in the sand, the movement once more looking like a similar attack. Frowning slightly Akira had hoped to see more variety from the other, but he was a student, he was likely limited to only a few shinobi techniques, it was something he had to remind himself of. Once more he threw his sword at Akira, but this time Akira was unarmed, no blade in hand to stop anything.

As Randori rose to make his attack the sound of his fist hitting something made a crunch sound.

Unfortunately a wall of stone was what it had hit. A series of cracks forming what looked like a spiderweb with his fist at the centre was seen and then the barrier crumbled away to show Akira looking at the boys blade in his hands having apparently caught it after the other had thrown it at him again.

Did you know that I have an ability with weapons? Akira said as he looked at the blade, his own shooting past Randori and digging into the dirt next to where Akira stood. If the boy made a motion to continue his assault Akira would hold up a hand to signal the boy stop.

This blade has plenty of potential, but none of it unlocked. My first suggestion to you is to stop throwing it away. You're wasting a lot of energy dropping it, picking it up, dropping it again, picking it back up again. Your throwing of rocks is a means to attack sure, but wouldn't you be better off using the skills you've honed wielding the sword and focusing on improving those skills? When you throw your blade it loses a lot of the strength behind the attack, your weight, your balance, your precision all leaves it. Even if it hits your opponent the amount of damage it'll do is reduced significantly and your ability to change where the blade is going to strike is removed entirely once it's released. Your unarmed techniques are fine as well, but again by throwing the blade and then picking it up again you're reducing your own effectiveness.

Holding the sword by the blade he offered the hilt towards Randori.

You have a lot to learn, and I feel that your first issue is focus. You need to focus on a single style of combat and master it. Once you have done that you will be able to do things like this.

Akira took his blade into his right hand, but didn't draw it. Instead the eyes lit up again, now Randori could see that on the other side there was an Uchiha eye with a mangekyou sharingan visible on it. The sword seemed to flux and emit an energy, grow if such a thing was possible while Akira held it. Then something different began to occur. First Akira's fingers, then his fist, moving up his massive arm, enveloping the huge figure of Akira as the man stood there looking down at Randori was a living suit of armour. After covering his entire body only Akira's head remained, and then that too was covered by what looked like a vicious wolf head. Where his eye was now glowed white in the darkness behind the dangerous looking suit, and in the eye where Akira's dead eye was now glowed red.

Defend yourself. Akira said, his voice distorted slightly by the armour, almost sounding like he was saying it multiple times simultaneously.

Striking at the boy with the motion of a simple punch Randori would find simply focusing on the attack would be hard, it would seem to shimmer as though the attack was ahead of where the fist actually was, but then should he successfully block the attack somehow the image of the fist behind would move through where he had already blocked it, as if it no longer existed in the material realm. Then should he avoid the attack a small eruption of fire would flicker up from the end of the fist, while if it struck he would find himself engulfed in the explosion of what could only be assumed to be a fire ninjutsu with the punch of a taijutsu.

Akira spoke as he would close in on the boy who would likely have moved to create distance between the two once more with Akira seeming more and more like a demon than a human as he was now stalking his prey.

You see, I am able to use Genjutsu, Ninjutsu and Taijutsu in a single technique, blending all shinobi techniques into every single one of my attacks. I have lived a long life and I have mastered all forms of combat. But I had to focus on each individually before I could do this.

It had been a long time since he had used this technique, and he decided to release it. It came with a cost. His masters rage he could feel when the sword covered him, his masters holy wrath constantly trying to overtake his mind to turn him into something else. It was something he was sure his lord, Shinbatsu, had deliberately placed in the powers of his blade to test Akira, something which would make him stronger, something only he could handle.

The weapon began to form once more into Akira's hand, the eyes shut once more as he stopped his advancement.

You are young, there is no rush to know everything. Focus on one thing at a time, master it and then look towards the next thing. This training is over.

Rega yawned a bit as she heard the clang of swords echoing from the vast Coliseum while on her search for her commander. It had been a while since she had taken up her position as ANBU Captain, and since returning she had kept particularly low key while getting back into shinobi life. It was still weird even walking around without the constant weight of her family's limbs protruding out of her, and the removal had been highly traumatic... But as she came into view of the sword fight, and the intimidating Saito roughing up an academy student, she felt that much smaller in the world of melee combat without a plethora of weapons to use simultaneously.

Still, she knew enough of the legendary protégé of Shinbatsu from her involvement in Kelamura with his peers to know it would likely be foolish even with a dozen blades and mauls, and watching his casual manhandling of the poor child made that quite clear. Even being an S-Rank herself, it was a bit humbling to be reminded of how big the pond really was and what monsters called themselves "Sennin" there. “Hey boss,” she started to yell at the end of his performance, “what did that poor kid do to get stuck taking lumps from the chosen successor of a living god? Did we run out of main branch folk to beat up on the newbies or… did you find something special?”

Her curiosity wasn’t overly sincere, as she came closer and gave the young man a very scrutinizing look. It wasn’t until she turned her head, however, that she came upon a quick conclusion and tapped her massive hammer against her shoulder. “Ahh, I get it… You heard a student had a bigger sword than you. That does seem to usually get some attention, but hopefully you’re showing him how to really handle that size~”

Randori's eye twitched as his fist came in contact with the rock wall that appeared in front of him. He held back a yelp, holding his fist in pain since he wasn't prepared to punch a wall with full force when he was aiming for Akira. As the wall receded, he saw that Akira had also caught the blade that was meant to either distract or harm him. Now completely disappointed in himself for trying to use what was basically the same move twice, he stood up and accepted his sword, which was handed back to him after Akira gave him a few suggestions on how to properly use it. He became increasingly interested as Akira continued his explanation, and when he said to watch him, he gave him his full attention, coming to regret this decision soon after...

Being interested at first as he watched the man he just fought "transform" before his eyes, he thought it was fairly cool that he would be shown this. His favorite feature of the armor Akira was now wearing, or perhaps the armor that was wearing Akira, being the wolfs head that covered his face. All of these cool things seemed to disappear as he heard "Defend yourself" come from within the head, and seemingly echo in his. These words caused only one reaction, put your sword up and brace yourself. Which he did, he stabbed his sword into the ground in front of him and braced for a huge attack. As he looked out from behind his sword, he thought he saw a fist coming at him right at him, so he quickly hid back behind his sword, but felt nothing. When he looked back out, only Akira was there. Staying hidden behind his sword, he listened to what was explained to him, and now took it to heart since he was just given a fine example as to why he should focus on one thing at a time.

"I guess trying to kill me is a good way to explain that," He said as Akira's sword turned back to the way it was before. "And I thought my sword was cool." Hearing a voice come from nearby, he looked over at a woman that had entered the arena at some point during the fight. Noticing the look she gave her, Randori raised an eyebrow and wondered why she would give him this look. He mounted his sword back on his back and leaned against a nearby wall, now out of breath from the fight, being sure he was the only one that was. He was now only interested in what the other two may talk about, since it seemed she knew Akira fairly well.

Turning his head towards Rega, Akira nodded acknowledging her presence. He recognised her from the few times their paths had crossed, as well as by reputation.

Deciding to answer her quip with a retort regularly used after statements like hers Akira smiled a bit It's not about the size of the sword but how you use it.

Then he looked back at the boy and continued to speak to Rega, I received word from the academy that this one might fit well into the ANBU ranks. He learns, he listens and he's willing to fight when needed. I think they might be right. giving the boy a nod of approval.

Looking back to Rega he said There are matters which I need to speak with you about, tomorrow afternoon, 1pm in my office. His voice becoming more formal as he gave the meeting time and place. There was much to discuss.

Once more turning back to the kid he said Once you have completed your Genin exam come and see me in the ANBU HQ. I think that you will do well in the ANBU and I think that you'll fit in well with the other trainee's we have there.

Turning away he headed off. This had been fun, though perhaps he'd gone a bit over the top. Sometimes he felt that it was needed to inspire some awe in the youth.

Randori was surprised by the fact that he could potentially become anbu, he figured that he'd gone mostly unnoticed besides being the kid with a sword large than him of course.. Nodding after he was told to go see the Sennin after he had completed his genin exam, he made his way out of the colosseum and back toward the academy.

"I suppose I need to start training.." he muttered to himself as he walked through the streets, getting the usual stares from the people walking by. He was planning on going straight to the forest where he could practice using his sword alone, and not having to rely on any other form of combat until he's perfected that. Randori was excited that he'd made enough progress to possibly become an anbu, this just meant that his training to simply be stronger was paying off. Leaving all of these things on his mind for later, he cleared his thoughts and decided he'd warm up by sprinting to his destination.

Rega's hair stood on end at the forboding tone of the ANBU sennin, not out of fear of the man so much as anxiety of the return to being mission-ready. It had been over a year since she'd last took to the field after the loss of her family's influence inside her body, and it made her usually lax nature fade as she seriously began struggling to remember how these things went and what she should do to prepare. Thankfully, this washed away as the boss man turned back to the kid before walking off.

Taking a deep breath of relief, the sole survivor of the Black Aces wiped her forehead and watched as the student packed up and headed home as well. "Well, no use standing on an empty battleground after the fun has been had..." Hucking her massive mallet back onto her shoulder, she looked at it and hummed to herself before taking comfort in at least one thing... Even without her absurdly titanic strength and multiple limbs to hoist, she was still the most hung weapon wielder in Kumogakure.
