Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Kurokawa had finally landed in Suna but not 5 minutes after that she was called to one of the big shot lords for questioning. Said interrogation ended with her being offered a mission to find anything she could about Lycanthropy. She was allowed to rest up and now that that she had, her first stop was the library in the Oracular order. It was as good a place as any to start. Now that she had twice the manpower to do research and had actual sight for half of it she figured it would be a walk in the park. Not so much the case though, as books seemed to be spares and the ones that were there were mostly reports on attacks, as in not the actual creature but what it left behind. Kurokawa had brought along her new body double and quickly started picking books off the shelves that seemed to have something to do with the subject. Any report, every fairy tale, all the reported sightings filed under superstition. She needed to know everything. Until just yesterday she didn't even know that werewolves were real.

"This new acquisition sure is handy."

Kurokawa would use her other body to walk around and pick stuff left to right with his 6 arms. She would gradually return to the table with books and while the blind female ninja would guard the books and start off on the first one using chakra to read the difference in the paper and ink, the male counterpart would take the chance to ask clergy for help.

"Excuse me sir. I am looking for books on werewolves and the likes. Do you happen to know anything that might be of value. Apparently some form of lycanthropy related event is causing a fuss and the more you know the better you can help the situation"

The extra male body in the form of a former Stone Shinobi named Sunaku Shikai would smile at the clerk and patiently take mental not of anything useful so that locating the right books would be a breeze. Afterwards the two parts of Kurokawa would sit opposite each other at the table each with a book in hand sifting through the pages in search for a needle in the haystack.

[Mission. (I'd appreciate a PM before anyone joins any type of RP here, and that you are either Fang marked or otherwise lycan related. For it's a mission but there is no reason it couldn't double as an RP with someone related to the topic.)]

Kurokawa would spend the rest of the day compiling information. One entry depicted a hunt in the forest with an innocent boar caught in the middle. The ripping and shredding described by the scouting party that came across the mauled remains. Description of the teeth marks coincides with that of a large wolf but the claw marks had all the wrong angles for a normal beast, suggesting that something more humanoid in shape made them. There were no signs of the boar reanimating as a werebeast so at least this attacker couldn't transfer any kinds of affliction to surrounding wildlife indicating that the threat was not an immediate priority.

Flipping through the pages Kurokawa would learn of an affliction known as the Fang Mark which was linked to the Ancient History of spirits in Suna known as Ancients. Seems long ago a clan of humans sold out to the Ancients that oppressed the people of Suna, and in turn for being enforcers they were granted the power to transform. Needless to say they were hunted to the ends of the earth for their betrayal once the war was over and they were on the losing side. Cut off from their source of power and command they became more sporadic in their actions and started lashing out. No longer able to control their animal side they were classified as dangerous monsters to be hunted down.

Kurokawa was learning more and more of the cruel nature of the history of Suna. She now understood why her then Ancient travel companion was so weary of humans. Any Court caught in the crossfire became a target when the Primus and his first men took over. Didn't matter if they took part in the war or not. A subject for another time.

The problem with the Fang-marked in relation to lycanthropes seemed to be that even without any exposure to another Fang-marked, some people still turned out of the blue sometimes. In order to further study the reasons behind this sudden contagion Kurokawa would need a live specimen of the Fang-marked and some of the equipment in the Hospital to run tests. it was her only way to further study the curse and how it spread from on person to another, but she would have to put a pin in it till she got the authority to study it further.

Kurokawa would move on to less coherent sources to get a feel for other kinds of lycanthropy before handing in her findings. If possible she would like to actually present something new and not just old reports but whether or not it would be possible for her to study the genetics behind it was still up in the air.

Kurokawa found a book called 'The Song of Fangs and Fur' in which a Vampire and a Werewolf came together to create something better. She figured that with Demon blooded people and Chigokai running around vampires didn't sound so far off. Hell she even had a blood spirit with her right at this moment. In it were various weaknesses for the vampire such as silver, sunlight, garlic and of course a stake to the heart. Classic move that one. More importantly was the possible weaknesses of the werewolf. While the book seemed to revolve around them overcoming their common affliction for silver, Kurokawa noticed that during the book, the wolf comes across objects made of Mistletoe, which seemed to provoke allergic reactions when the oil or pollen made contact. Even if that wouldn't necessarily apply to a Fang Marked it was still works noting as a possible counter measure to be tested out later on. Maybe also something to make a cage out of in the event one could be captured for testing.

While Kurokawa used her main body to slide her fingers over the ink reading the book, she would use her six armed one to write down everything she found plus a note to try to acquire a Fang Marked body for her collection.

The rest of her search was pretty much a bust with constructive yield regarding alternative possibilities for lycanthropy or how to counter it. She would finish up her report so that she could take it to her Hybrid quest giver. The Next step would be to, in some way, procure test subject to further analyse the triggering factors that causes them to wolf out, and perhaps cure the affliction. On both accounts Kurokawa would be happy to assists especially if it means getting a Fang Marked Path for her Ridoku Sennin. To that end Kurokawa would make sure to take notes on reported hunting grounds and incident locations in case they would come in handy later.

Packing up the books was more than a normal task. Having two bodies and being able to search for material while sifting through it had compiled quite the tower of books at the table and finding they respective place was something best left to a librarian, but with this amount she felt that was not fair. After Finishing up she would head out, report in hand.

Mission report:

Fang Marked:
[lb][/lb]
Humans who were gifted, or cursed depending on how you view it, with the ability to turn into wolves and werewolves in return for being Ancient Enforcers. descendant seem to pop up at random and so far a way to test for it has not been found to my knowledge.
[lb][/lb]
.
[lb][/lb]
Suggested course of action is to persuade or otherwise coerce someone known to be a a Fang marked into being a test subject. Most likely blood and maybe a tissue sample or two would be sufficient to help determine how the triggering gene can be identified.
[lb][/lb]
.
[lb][/lb]
Possible scrutiny to think about if whomever gets picked to lead the research force has prior history with Fang Marked, or is an active anti Ancient activist. Is Public opinion a factor here or is it results at all cost?
Incident Reports:
[lb][/lb]
Mauled Boar found in the desert. Marks from a long and drawn out fight. Tracks lead all over. Wolf-like tracks, claw marks and bite marks found in it. Partially eaten as well. Tracks leading away turning from werewolf tracks to human. Possible Fang marked? Possibly something else.
[lb][/lb]
.
[lb][/lb]
Suggested course of action is investigate further. Perhaps a test subject could be acquired or perhaps there is more intel to be had from the person in question.
Fictional:
[lb][/lb]
Fictional research turned up many possible factors to consider.
[lb][/lb]
Possible allergy to Mistletoe. Oil and wood could be tested to see if any of the myths hold water.
[lb][/lb]
Possible allergy to silver. Shared with vampires? Another substance to test if there is ever anything to test it on.
[lb][/lb]
Possible timer on curability. Seems all stories involving lycans revolve around curing them before the first full moon after infection. Could be literal or a generalisation based on incubation time.
[lb][/lb]
Possible ways to get infected seems to include but not be limited to, bites, claw marks, ingestion of blood from infected host and a mysterious gaze attack stunning and turning you over a short amount of time. Hypnosis?

The Hashigaki report on extraordinary wolf-like humanoids causing trouble:

- I seems that incomplete records means further examination in the hospital is necessary, and documentation mandatory. For now this is what I have learned on the subject. I hope I didn't miss anything here. I'll follow up on any leads I have.

Kurokawa would go drop off the report in the building she was being escorted to back when she came back to Suna from her journey. Someone there could deliver it to the important person radiating cold energy. Kurokawa would shadow the delivery person, both to make sure she could find the actual office again seeing as she had only been there once, but also to make sure the delivered did not open and read the report.

After making sure the report landed in the right hands Kurokawa would turn her attention towards finding the one from the desert. This would most possibly require camping out in the actual hunting grounds to make contact so Kurokawa would have to stock up on necessities and maybe techniques used to stay hidden in sandy environments. One of her paths did have the blood of a sand user so maybe she should use some time adding yet another element to her arsenal just in case the wolf proved hungry and aggressive, instead of lucid and willing to communicate. Just to have a higher chance to avoid infection Kurokawa would also stop by the hospital for antivirals and antibiotics, as well as some bags of blood to help Hemorian protect her, now that her guardian spirit had lost most of the hold on her body. Kurokawa knew that she still had her blood abilities and that her storage ability still have the option of cleansing someone's blood of foreign object and infections but she didn't know how fast acting the lycanthropy affliction would be or if it would be curable in the same way that the Red Fever was back in the medical camp after the fight with a giant sand worm.

You ready for another adventure? We even have the option of actual vision this time.

For the record I never minded the lack for sight, but yes it will be good to get a chance to find out where the boundaries are now after the change. Wouldn't want to lose my host and go back into the darkness waiting without knowing when or even if I will get out again

Better stay alive then. Wouldn't want you to be trapped in darkness for the rest of your life.

Again, not minding the lack of vision. The lack of any sensory input what so ever though. That is maddening.
