Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

"A kid's game, yet one you fail at." As Daisuke became closer with the shadows, he watched his opponent's chakra spring into a barrier... Only to then attack it himself, for some odd reason. The boy just watched and waited, and created clones that pulled themselves from the very shade around him.

"Strike you harder... Like this?" Daisuke's tone almost mocked the man from his hidden location, as a sudden wave of shadow slammed into the swordsman with particular ferocity.

"Or do you mean, like this?" This time it would sound as if Daisuke spoke from multiple angles, and his voice filled the room as he moved into action.

Genma ignored the kids taunting words. Daisuke’s ability to remain incognito for the last twenty seconds irked the living hell out of the bandit leader. His reckless swinging proved futile, taking another big attack but this time it hit him in his back. Alongside knocking the wind from his lungs his skin began to bruise underneath his clothing. Each small movement sent spikes of pain to radiate through his body. “I’m sick of these games! Fight like a man!” Genma roared out to Daisuke. Like a rat in a corner there was no other instinct other than to fight recklessly.

Ichihara’s carelessness got the best of him of course. As he moved his feet triggered a hidden wire trap that staggered his movements. A grunt of aggravation rumbled in his throat. Adjusting his stance he continued to swing into the darkness. The sudden glimpses of the ninja tormented him leaving his hands shaken. Frustration welled into the hilt of his blade as he rose the sword into the air and struck at the sound behind him. With damning speed a slice was made across the kids body. A smile appeared on his lips, ‘Finall-’ he thought to himself. His celebration cut short as the kid's body poofed into a cloud of smoke and into another clone with an explosive paper seal on it. “GAAAHH!” He cried out, staggering backwards the explosion nearly finishing him off. Beads of sweat dripped down the man's jaw while puffs of his breath could be seen billowing from his mouth. His upper garment had been burned off but the sword in his hand never left. Through the darkness a blur of the ninja could be seen. Gritted teeth ground against each other threatening to break. Anger consumed Genma, lashing out once again. Resting on the open plane of the bunker was a paper butterfly, observing the battle at hand.

Shadows were Daisuke's element, his success drove his confidence and ego to newer heights as he used them to devastating effectiveness. While Genma had yet to strike him properly with his blade, Daisuke had slowly cut the man down with unseen attacks from the shadows. "Kids are more than enough to handle the likes of you," Daisuke intoned from the shadows as yet another strike sliced into the man. This time, however, he did not remain hidden; no, he stepped forward in the dim light of the bunker just as it landed. And when Genma came close enough to hit with his blade, a quick body switch did naught but blow an explosive note in the man's face.

"You should have just given me the scroll when I asked for it."

Daisuke immediately knew that he had gotten too cocky when he stepped out of the shadow's protection to confront the man. It was seconds after he had revealed himself that the sword slashed across his mid-section. He could focus only on his own blood on that blade as he tried to strike the man with yet another strike of shadows, but his distracted focus caused him to miss and stumble, which allowed yet another slash to draw a bit of blood and a grimace from the boy.

He felt foolish as his second strike struck a kawarimi target, something that he had forgotten, himself; his clones had been destroyed, so he had nothing to body switch with to defend against this sudden onslaught. Another two slashes caused Daisuke to fall to one knee in surprise, which pulled a look of pure anger across his features. With a shout of exertion, he turned and brought a larger, sharper spike from the shadows and slammed it right into Genma, crashing into the tall swordsman with a complete lack of mercy.

The boy felt lucky that the strike knocked the man completely unconscious; he was unsure how much more damage he could take. He took a second to gather himself, and assessed his wounds; they hurt, as they should. He had been careless and stupid on his first mission, and it could have cost his life if he was any more unlucky. There was slight shame that tinged his cheeks as he walked over to Genma and retrieved the black scroll from the slumped figure.

He wasted no time and left the compound. He passed the bodies of the other, lesser goons on the way out, still knocked out in their same places. Once he exited the building, he sprinted as quickly and quietly as he could back to the rendezvous point, while a newly created Crystal Eye followed the boy and watched his retreat up until he returned to the tree.

Ichihara was blinded by rage. Backed into a corner like a scared rat he decided to choose his moves haphazardly. Luckily for him the ninja got too cocky. To reveal yourself to the enemy when you have the upperhand was foolish indeed. Even under the guise of genjutsu his silver katana sliced at the blurry ninja before him. Two flashy strikes was all that he could muster. Unable to have a lethal strike the shadows struck him first. Piercing his shoulder Ichihara fell to his knees. “Shinobi… ruin this world…” His words struggled to flow out he fell face first onto the ground, out cold.

As he fell the paper butterfly perched at the window of the bunker had seen enough. A few flaps of its wings allowed it to be carried off by the cold winds of the mountains. A lot had happened and a full assessment of abilities needed to be looked over before Daisuke returned.

After a few moments a scarred hand rose into the air as a perch for her butterfly. Gracefully it landed on her finger before unfolding and molding itself to her skin once again. The details of the mission were unfolded in her mind. Now to put all the pieces together for the final assessment.

‘How do you think he performed?’ Naibu chimed in. A long pause loomed between them. ‘The encounter before hand, Daisuke played the waiting game with the two clans. A proper response, seeing as they were settling their own differences with no correlation to Kumogakure.’ Miro’s palm opened up in front of her to watch the snow land and melt. ‘Stealth and recon is the ANBU game. Taking out the troublesome goons was quick and easy. The only issue I have is…’ Naibu knew exactly what she was going to mention. ‘C’mon~ a little cockiness is okay.’ ‘Absolutely not. Not during a vital mission. That bandit almost nicked him at the end. Retorting back, anything of that sort was life or death in the shinobi world. It held no place in ANBU. ‘He must’ve learned his lesson. Gunna scold him?’ Mirō rolled her eyes, batting away Naibu’s response.

Red hues cut to the sound of panting and light crunch of footsteps in snow. It was a safe assumption that it was Daisuke who was returning back to the rendezvous point. Stepping out into view Mirō saw the stains of blood on his garments and small glimpses on his hands. ‘Suffering damage like that would change his way of thinking. Hopefully he has what I desired.’

“In one piece, that’s good. Do you have what I requested?” Mirō extended a hand out in front of her. Red hues looked Daisuke up and down, before gazing into his own hues.

As his eyes finally landed on the tree centered at the rendezvous and then finally down at Mirō, Daisuke let out a small sigh of relief. He hadn't noticed, but now that adrenaline had slowed its energizing pump through his veins, he finally began to feel the pain from the few strikes that Genma had been able to land. He could feel his own blood drip down his nearly sweat-drenched form, yet the pain he felt came second to the embarrassment that caused his cheeks to pinken.

Genma had been a lowly bandit, an opponent that truly experienced shinobi would have dealt with in seconds with nary a scratch on them. Daisuke could have been one, at least if he had not sustained an injury... And he had gained a few of them, from simple stupidity and unfortunate cockiness. It would have been better if he had been beaten outright, as the only solution to would have been to train. No, with his mistake, he had been trained more than enough... It was just stupidity, plain and simple, and he himself would have thought he was above that.

He nodded at Mirō as he pulled the black scroll he had snagged from the bandit out of his pack, though it was lightly stained with Genma's blood. He handed it to her, and shuffled his feet slightly. "The mission was not very difficult... Though, there are some things I do have to work on." He hoped Mirō was not aware of his mishaps, though he doubted it; it was an exam, and he had faced non-shinboi. She was likely more then capable and had more than enough skill to keep an eye on what happened inside that compound.

Pale fingers coiled around the scroll. With a tug the string that concealed the contents fell apart and Mirō unraveled it. A wide grin appeared on her face as the contents were juicier than fruit from Leaf Village. Details of the contents were refrained from meeting Daisuke’s own hues for the sake of secrecy. Quickly Mirō rolled the black scroll up again and stuffed it in her inner robe pocket on her chest. Her gaze met Daisuke’s once more, he suffered a few small lacerations across his body. His expression bewildered her. For his genin exam his performance was spectacular and his opponent proved worthy at the end. “Not difficult huh? Those wounds suggest otherwise.” A coy smile was presented to Daisuke. “With the retrieval of the black scroll and after assessing your abilities and performances…” A dramatic pause lingered in the air, “I’m happy to inform you that you passed. With your current abilities I urge you to take the path of the ANBU.”

Through the snow Mirō walked up to Daisuke, holding both hands in front of his wounds. A green aura of healing chakra appeared on her right hand. Tending to his wound the other hand began to peel apart into sheets of paper. Adhering to his skin to seal the wounds up properly to avoid infection. “You’ll still feel pain but the bleeding has stopped.” After she had finished her hands gracefully fell back to her sides. Stepping back Mirō spoke up once more, “The path of the ANBU is not an easy one. If you are prepared to serve your village with undying loyalty, I grant you the rank of Anbu-In-Training. If not, you still passed your genin exam.”

Mirō personally thought he was beating himself up by the way his feet shuffled about. His opponent was formidable, a leader of a growing bandit organization who will no longer be a threat. And retrieving the scroll has given the ANBU the small leap that it needs to snuff out the imposing threat within these mountains. “Tend to your wounds. If you decide to take my offer we’ll be in touch.” That silvery voice came to an end. Turning around Mirō moved back behind the tree to seemingly vanish once Daisuke was finally healed to his content.

A sigh of relief issued from Daisuke's lips as she passed him based on his performance. He had not realized he had held his breath since she took the scroll and opened it, but now he breathed as normal. He was incredibly curious to see what was on that scroll, but he knew he would have been shown if he needed to be. And he did not need to be, as he was only (quite literally) barely a Genin.

He held out his arm for her, feeling a slight bit of relief as her chakra healed him. He wasted no time, however, and declared his intentions. "I will join the ANBU. My brother used to be one, before his death... I will see to it that at least one in my family redeem themselves in that branch." He nodded as he let his now-healed arm fall to his side, and Mirō finished. He gave a deep bow, palm in fist in front of him, before he raised his head and watched her simply disappear.

And with that, he began his trek back to his village. A small smile graced the new ANBU's face.
