Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

It was week five of his return to new life.
Okibi had returned to Suna, he had a teenage daughter, and for the first time ever Tama had no idea what to do with his life. All the plans he had originally were out the window in lue of the new responsibilities. His ex and her child stayed at Sousuke’s for the first couple of days before the scientist finally decided he was going to try and reconcile everything. It had been a long and lonely road without her, perhaps now everything would fix itself once he admitted he was wrong. Maybe having the family he always dreamed of would make him a better person.
He put them both up in his actual home that was down the street of the Takahashi household and not the trailer, went back to actual work in the hospital, and for all of about four weeks tried to live that life he always fantasied about.
Turns out, he hated it. Every day when he got home, tired from mortal body demands that his old one did not, an argument would start between him and Okibi. It was, of course, usually his own fault every time, though it was clear she was keeping her own secrets. He was trying to live the perfect life and she was trying to just get used to…living. Okibi wasn’t the girl he used to know, and they had both grown up in vastly different ways. Some days it was food he didn’t like that his daughter had cooked, others it was because he was just in the mood to piss someone off; and she didn’t have the patience for either. By the start of the fourth week they had both come to the conclusion that they just couldn’t be around each other anymore. Packing up just a few things, the scientist signed the house lease over to her and promised to continue sending money from his legitimate job. Three days later, he had yet to leave his trailer or report to the hospital.
It wasn’t that he hated Okibi now, just…disliked what she had to turn into to survive, and on the contrary when it came to his daughter. Otami was a bit of a small spot of sunshine in his life that he had not expected. She was everything he had loved about his ex when she was her age, but with his sharp wit. Her curiosity and eagerness to learn more about him, the village, and how to use her power made it feel like his heart was literally melting some days; which would cause a small panic, usually.
What really bothered him was the fact that he just couldn’t get along with her mother. Despite what he might say and do in public, the bad choices based on his overwhelming pride were really eating away at him. Thus there he laid on the floor of his trailer, drunk on his second bottle of tequila. Bits of chewed on lime slices were scattered all over the cheap wooden floor, some of them already attracting flies. Eventually he had gotten to a point that he no longer needed the lime and landed on the floor after stepping on the knife he had used to cut the limes haphazardly throughout the day. Even in the depths of his inebriation he could still feel the guilt dragging on his soul as he stared dead pan at the ceiling wishing for, not the first time, a sudden but peaceful death. Eventually everything would go black as the alcohol finally caught up with his advanced organs.

Some time later he woke up to the cold chill of being wet and the smell of vomit. The scientist was on his side staring at a pile of his own stomach excrement, wondering for a brief moment on how he got there. Stretching out a sore arm, he pushed back away from the offensive odor until his back touched the cool metal wall. It told him that it was night and he had been out for at least three hours, which was during the peak heat of the day. That explained why his clothes felt saturated, at least he hoped that was why. The doctor was a mess, trying to deal with being a decent human being and being unable to reconcile with what he considered to be the greatest gift he’d ever been given. Slowly sitting up he stared out over the empty stinking trailer wondering how to proceed, and for the first time, not coming to any helpful conclusions.

Tap. Tap. Tap. The delicate sound of fingers rhythmically drumming over the hard surface of a glass surface desk echoed in against the silence that was filling up the room. It only played harmony to the incessant ticking of the clock on the wall that kept time at an agonizing pace. A small glass of water saw on the corner of the desk, slightly untouched, as drips of condensation slid ever so slowly down the glass and pooled in a ring at the base of the cup. Tap. Tick. Drip. Tap. Toc. Drip. "UGGGH!" A loud screech filled the room as a chair was abruptly slid back and lightly clattered against the floor from the jarring motion of it's previously seated owner. The owner in question was none other than Kasen, the newly appointed medical chief of Suna's hospital.

The blue haired woman hadn't had the position for long, but she was starting to realize that the title came with a lot of responsibility she didn't know about, and a lot of quiet. Sighing to herself, Kasen looked around the office once more. She wasn't used to having an office. Her daily grind at the hospital usually consisted of her showing up, performing her rounds, maybe a few surgeries, sleeping in an on call room if necessary, and then returning home. She also tended to do research in whatever spare time she had, but lately it was mostly devoted to patient care given that latest attack on Suna had left many wounded. Not to mention the damaged that the hospital had endured in the attack. The office she had been granted wasn't overly large, but it was quite nice. A few plants, a small teal sofa, a couple book shelves lined with medical books, some pictures of her friends and family, her medical certification, at least 2 of her office walls were made of glass so she could oversee the hospital...she even had a small ceramic shark candy bowl. Whomever arranged for the decoration of the office had really done their homework.

Still, Kasen felt restless. While she still performed her regular duties, it often felt like they occurred less frequently as she was one of the first people that members of the hospital approached with paperwork and decisions. Kasen was doing the best she could to balance the paperwork and the tasks, given the slight shortage of mednin to standard care physician ratios, but it was proving to be just the slightest bit of a challenge. Her nerves were wearing thin; she was more on edge than ever. Picking the chair off the floor, Kasen turned her attention back to her latest frustration. The damage that had been caused to the hospital needed to be repaired immediately, but with the overflow of patients to the hospital, alongside needing to relocate those that were in the affected wings was leaving them at a bit of a loss as to where to find the room. Some of the overflow had to be moved into the asylum for the time being, and many families were starting to file complaints against the hospital for it. Kasen had tried her best to meet with the family and just explain to them that it was a temporary situation, but that their loved ones were receiving proper, if not better care, while they were there was still quite a lot of resistance.

Three large stacks of papers sat on her desk. Reconstruction budgets and updates, complaints, and hospital staffing records. Picking up one of the folders that sat on her desk, Kasen picked up her glasses and placed them on her face. She opened the folder and started skimming it over. Before she had a chance to get very far, there was the rattle of her office doorknob being turned. Kasen looked up, a small look of relief passing across her expression for half a moment before her eyes narrowed and stared daggers at the man that had just walked through the door. The man walked in slowly, unphased by her look of annoyance and slowly approached her desk. Wisps of smoke started to circulate through the room from a cigarette that dangled from the mouth of a middle aged man with brown hair, dressed in a white coat and blue scrubs, hands in his pockets. An awkward silence once again overcame the room. Tick. Drip. Puff. The man took a drag from his cigarette. After a few more moments, Kasen snapped at him. "GARY! You're supposed to be doing rounds to help cover the third floor with Dr. Hiroshi. Why are you here?...And quit smoking in the hospital!" Gary stared blankly at Kasen. His eyes slowly trailed around the room, looking at nothing in particular. He tipped his head up, scratching at the side of his face with one of his hands. Gary sighed, rubbing his neck. "Yeah, about that...I think I'm coming down with something. Decided to give myself the day off. Anyway, Dr. Hiroshi quit. Something about...an explosion phobia...or something. I don't know, kinda nonsense if you ask me. I mean, what are the odds the hospital will explode a third time. Am I right?" Gary let out a small chuckle. Kasen clenched her fists around the folder that was still held in her hands. Her knuckles were starting to turn white from the grip. Normally something like this wouldn't set Kasen on edge, but the stress was really starting to eat at her.

"Gary...just...please go do something." Kasen raised a hand and weakly pointed at the door. Gary gave a two finger salute at the medical chief. "I'm on it, boss. Thanks for being so understanding. If you need me, I'll be in the on call room getting some much needed zzz's." Kasen waited for the door to shut behind him before she felt the tense release from her hands and the folder ripped in half, sending papers every which direction. Finally, she realized how much tension was in her body. Her muscles relaxed, having felt the weight of defeat now that she had created an even larger mess for herself. Kasen reached down and picked up one of the papers that had flown out of the ripped folder. Her eyes scanned it quickly. It was from the pile of hospital staffing. "Ryuu Tama...hasn't reported to work in days...termination recommended." A thought popped into Kasen's head, a devilish smile curling across her face. "Well...now we can't have that." The overworked doctor quickly hung her doctor's coat and placed her glasses on her desk before hurrying out of her office.

.....Several hours later.

Wind bashed against Kasen's form as she trudged out to the documented address of Ryuu Tama. She wasn't sure what she had been expecting, but a trailer was not the first thing that came to mind. The smell hit her long before she was able to see the thing. Sometimes having certain shark attributes could be a real pain. She wasn't sure what she had been expecting, but a small metal dwelling wasn't what she had expected. Her ever growing agitation made for a perhaps less than tactful approach to this situation, but she was determined to get all hands on deck. Kasen approached the door of the dwelling and knocked lightly. Given the noise that came from the district below, in combination with the wind, it was unlikely that the owner of the home would hear her. Kasen's eye twitched as she stared at the offending door. "Ryuu Tama! This is Shinku Kasen, if you value your job, I request you open this door!" Kasen thought that perhaps she heard some shuffling but when nothing happened after several minutes, Kasen felt a swell of frustration finally bubble over the surface. Kasen saw red as her jaws opened wide, digging deep into the metal of the door. She wrenched it open like it was no stronger than piece of aluminum foil, and tossing it to the side, leaving a hole, roughly the size of a human head in the door. Kasen stuck her head through the hole, the smell much more potent than it was before. "You had your chance, I'm coming in. So you better not be naked!" Kasen removed her head, having hopefully finally been heard by Tama. She reached her hand into the whole, skillfully unlocking the door and allowing it to swing open. A small bit of pride swelled within her as she took a step inside the trailer. Looking at the state of the trailer, her nose crinkled a bit. Maybe this was a mistake, but she had already committed. Nothing to do now but wait and hope that Tama, and not some kind of living bacteria, presented themselves to her.

The doctor stare across the trailer floor, his eyes feeling crusted and dry from the dehydration of consuming copious amounts of liquor. Dull/Sharp pains bolted all through the side he had laid dead on and his head thumped along with his heart; painfully. A bit of nausea resided in the forefront of his mind, telling him that as long as he didn’t move he wouldn’t vomit again. This was of course a lie as he was in dire need of hydration and grease to ease his stomach but, at the moment he was willing to comply. Tama couldn’t remember the last time he had drank so heavily and was totally certain that he had never had a body that alcohol was poisonous too…like most people did. Years and years of living as a near-elemental had made him take for granted some of the ‘vices’ that humans loved as they didn’t used to be bad for him. On the contraire, alcohol very much used to be diet human souls for Tama as somehow liquor managed to quench his thirst for the living. It used to be a joke…

…consuming spirits…” he muttered to himself as he closed his eyes to block out whatever natural light was still filtering in from the windows. The thumping in his head grew louder, then sharper, then…distant…then….

Ryuu Tama! This is Shinku Kasen, if you value your job, I request you open this door!"
Oh shit,” was his only quite response as his eyes shot back open to the stinging warm air in his trailer.

His job. Depression for Tama was a hell of a thing, especially in events regarding Okibi, but rarely had it distracted him so much that he’d forget about his basic duties. The life he was trying to build for himself, the better image he was attempting to cultivate, and the responsibilities he promised he was capable off threw themselves back in his hung-over face. How many days had it been since he signed the lease? Was he supposed to work that day? Was, was, was, was…his hands finally lifted and rested on his head as the aching thump grew. For a moment he thought that, maybe, if he just ignored it she would simply go away. That’d be nice. Give him the rest of the night to pull himself together, get a proper shower, go formally apologize and…suddenly that line of thinking got cut off.
The Solar Court inside began to flare up. He could feel his pride clawing up through his throat, hotter than the stomach acid that wanted to erupt with it, and pour heavily into his mind.
Why, should he care? About his failed attempt at being a good provider, partner, father? That’s not who he was. He was Ryuu-fucking-Tama, the man who changed the very face of battlefield surgery, recovery, and reinstatement. Who the hell was Kasen but another Chief in a long line of bosses who had yet to tame the mad scientist?
His pride and now toxic anger had built to a boiling point. In his head he had already decided that it wouldn’t be much effort to stand up, open the door, and tell the doctor to screw off followed by a huge gust of wind to knock her off his cliff. She was a shinobi, she’d live. Yet right as the doctor managed to get his hands to work and begin pushing himself up, the woman outside had finally given into the building stress of having to be far more responsible.
Teeth was the first thing he saw. Tearing through his door, which was supposed to be high-grade steel, like it was meat. All the fortifications he had spent a year adding way back now seemed like folly in comparison to what was trying to tear apart his trailer entrance. Suddenly there was a face demanding his presence in the hole ripped out of the entrance.

Yet she would see nothing but a black living room. The bits of dusk flowing in through the windows revealed a couple of liquor bottles, a bloody knife, and some chewed up limes; no Tama.
It was in these small moments that the scientist was incredibly grateful for his minor control over time. The moment he saw her teeth tearing through his reinforced door there a familiar presence shot his heart full of fear. It wasn’t from her physical sex as phobias had once dictated, but instead a sense of something inside of Kasen he had only formally recognized in himself and his former master; Mikaboshi. He didn’t know how Kasen related to the Ancient Courts and didn’t particularly want to find out right now. He was in no condition for a fight and had no idea what to expect from meeting another Court; his dealings with the Deep were rarely nice.
The doctor raised his hands, gripped the air gently, and rotated them away from each other at the wrist. A passing fly went from buzzing by quickly, to slowly, to stopped mid air. Kasen’s face was starting to press itself towards the opening she had ripped out, a dust mote hung in the air with a panic, and the mad scientist quickly stood up and shuffled into his kitchen; one second. He leaned over the sink where a drop of water falling from the faucet remained suspended in the air and vomited before allowing himself to crash against the kitchen counters and slink back down to the floor; two seconds. Time started up again with a weird sloshing sound as his stomach leavings dropped fully into the sink and he held his breath. He doubted highly she could brave the stink of his house and would probably just step inside, realize he wasn’t home, and leave. At least, it’s what most ANBU did when they were looking for him…old ANBU anyways. Now, to be fair, Tama was notorious for trapping up wherever he lived to ward off intruders so no doubt the horror stories of searching for his old labs had made the rounds. Though a bit of worry shook him now as he had heard word on the Grape Vine that there was some big changes coming in that branch of the military following the recent attacks. Of course, as long as they continued to stay distracted enough to leave Tama to his morally questionable hobbies on his days off, he really couldn’t care less. What he didn’t know was that Kaen, the man making these changes, was the brother of the woman crossing the threshold of his trailer’s entrance. How thorough was she when it came to looking for things? He doubt it would matter just so long as she didn’t walk down the hall leading off the living room where his bedroom, personal library, and two labs resided. Inside one of those laboratories was one of those morally questionable projects and he really didn’t want to start explaining why he was trying to see if he could literally squeeze a liquid beverage out of human souls.

Kasen looked into the dark void of the trailer, taking stock of the small things that were scattered throughout the trailer from the light that was pouring in from the outside as the door hung open. Suddenly, the sink started making the most unpleasant gurgling sound she had ever heard. She didn't think it was possible to gag metal, but then again, she also hadn't seen herself standing in a very filthy trailer perched atop an overhang looking for a doctor that was practically all but fired at this point. Kasen narrowed her eyes slightly. An odd sensation hit her almost immediately upon stepping through the threshold of the trailer, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. It reminded her a bit of being in Kaen's presence, but she had felt the same feeling in the presence of several members of the party. Why were they special in comparison? Kasen seemed to just be left with more questions. Still, it did indicate that something or someone was here.

The Water Court hybrid would then take a step forward looking around once more at the environment. Her hand reached down and ran itself along a countertop, pulling away dust and something sticky. Her nose wrinkled."I don't really know what I expected. His file mostly has negative reviews, and yet everyone recognizes his brilliance. He doesn't often come to work, yet somehow favors solitude in an over-sized garbage can. Enigma, really. And yet, here I am." She had mainly been speaking to herself, but she imagined if anyone was here they would surely hear her. Still, she couldn't help but once again question her own sanity for coming. She was, after all, the one who had just ripped off a chunk of door. Kasen hummed for a moment. Under all the stench of rot and vomit, something else seemed to make its way to Kasen's attention. Blood. Not super fresh, but it seemed to be oxidizing already. Unlike most people, Kasen's heightened instincts would allow her to detect such a thing. Sometimes being half shark had its benefits. It appeared to come from a small knife. Interesting. For now she would square that bit of information away.

"Helloooooo....." The doctor paused a moment, seeing if there would be any kind of response. Everything in her was telling her that someone was in this trailer. She had heard the noise from outside, she could feel something that she couldn't put her finger on, and there was vomit that just invisibly appeared and choked the sink. Kasen's eyebrows narrowed together, trying to analyze the situation. She could go searching she supposed, but that would just continue to add to the rudeness she had already caused. After all, nobody really expects their boss to show up at their door and then rip part of it off. Kasen placed a finger to her lips in contemplation. Suddenly, a large toothy grin spread across her face. Kasen took two steps backwards, the sound reverberating as she made it known to anyone listening that she had moved. "Well, I guess I must have missed him. I'll have to come back another time. I'll send for someone to repair the door in the meantime." Kasen took another step towards the door, slamming it shut abruptly. However, the blue haired woman had not left at all. Instead, her body would change it's composition. Where once she had stood, was now a liquidated form of her body. In this form, despite retaining the space and mass that she once held when solid, she could adapt her shape to fit many different spaces. Kasen drifted over stealthily, allowing her body to mold and pool inside the sink. Luckily, it appeared the vomit had made it down the drain, leaving Kasen the space to fill the sink. Thankfully, she had control over her form as to not get washed down the drain. Considering the sink had just had some kind of interaction, Kasen surmised he must be around here somewhere. Ryuu Tama was going to be in for a big surprise indeed. Now, she just had to wait.

As a member of the Solar Courts, holding his breath was an easy trick for Tama. A single breath could oxygenate his blood for possibly hours due to his Ancient energy refreshing the o2 in his blood as it passed through his Coil. He was silent as death when he heard Kasen’s fingertips brush his gross kitchen bar on her way past…but it took every last ounce of will not to jump up and start defending himself. His pride was pricked, hard, as he was not aware of the complaints. Happily he lived in a state of bliss, assuming that people disliked him due to his past involvements - not his current dickery. He also had to wonder if she wasn’t saying these things just to entice him out and followed that line of reasoning hard in order to resit furiously standing up.
Then Kasen called out for him, waited a few more minutes, and then decided to give up. To her credit, she tried harder to look for him than most ANBU did, but he couldn’t begin to express his relief in her exit. Her presence lingered, but that wasn’t unusual for any of the Courts as their elemental affinity tended to bother the space in which they existed. Whenever Mikaboshi would leave him, Tama could still feel the shadows watching everywhere he went for the next hour at least. The chief’s presence made the moisture in the air feel cold and heavy, and her exit did little to assuage the feeling. Maybe she was like Shiori and Mikaboshi - Ancients hiding in plain sight…maybe she was like him.
An escape of air hissed out from between Tama’s lips as he wobbled into a standing position to go inspect the full damage to his door.

That crazy bitch!” he proclaimed as he fully took witness to the gigantic hole in the corner of his steel door. She had slammed it but, the latch was no longer catching and part of the frame was broken outwards too,
Are you kidding me?! This was reinforced Sunan steel! So many bribes just to get my hands on the metal alone…ugh, and the price spent on forging the door? I’m not a damn blacksmith! By the Kami, I’m going to sue her…wonder if Uzu’s lawyer is still alive…” he mused aloud to himself as he beheld Kasen’s carnage, then after a minute proclaimed, “I need a drink.” It was taking every cognitive resource just to stand there and try to muse a plan. Yet nothing but anger and useless violent ideas came through the pounding drums of his hangover.
With a loud sigh the scientist turned and strode back into his kitchen, ignoring the suddenly full sink without any thought towards it, and reached up into the wooden cabinet above the stove. Glass bottles bumped against each other for a second as Tama dug out a bottle of something with a dark amber liquid.
Whiskey wasn’t always his go-to when it came to alcohol in Suna. There were only a small handful of spirit craftsmen who even knew how to brew bourbon in their village and they all sucked. Even the ones who made the best agave based liquors couldn’t make a decent whiskey. So, as with the rare vodka, Tama usually spent a little extra money on imports. To his surprise and luck, Sousuke had apparently struck a trade deal with some Konoha shinobi a few months back before the Wall battle. In the trade we got some trees, and they got some precious metals, but that was just the overhead. Merchants aware of the sudden open trade route between the two hidden villages quickly began to buy and import product they knew would sell well in the desert; bourbon was oddly one of them.
With a couple of twisting motions the surgeon removed the cork with a loud pop. The scent of wood, citris, and caramel followed by the bitter scent of alcohol wafted into the air and without class or dignity the man placed the bottle to his lips, lifted it up, and began to chug. As the spirits burned their way into his stomach he began to walk back towards his sealed labs. It was only when he stopped in front of the reinforced doors did he finally drop the bottle down; half gone already.

Holy shit, those Leafies know how to make a good spirit,” he mused while looking over the bottle’s label with one hand, the other tacking in on a number pad the code that unlocked the steel bolts barring the door closed. Part of him now felt kind of bad for killing the merchant that was trying to over sell it to him, but now felt even worse for having only taken two bottles afterwards. The door slid into the wall revealing a large tube contraption with tubes full of wires feeding power into it. It gave off a faint green glow that barely illuminated the room, but with a smack of a switch, florescent lighting flickered to life revealing the garage space of room full of machinery, tools, jars full of mysterious liquids and parts, and an electrical burning smell. Beneath the tube was a jar that seemed to be slowly filling with a soft glowing blue liquid, while inside the tube itself was…a ghost? It was hard to say what it was as the thing seemed humanoid but also translucent. Tama could tell you easily, though, that it was a human soul and that he was trying to literally make a beverage with it. Rather he would admit to that or not, was a different tale.

It was a strange thing, being in her liquid form. It almost felt like it's own out of body experience, and yet she could still seem to distinguish herself from her surroundings, just with new sensations of perception. As she pooled in the sink, listening to Tama go on an irate rampage about the door, she couldn't help but feel a small ripple roll across the surface of the water that was her body. It would likely have been an eyeroll, had her form been more...human shaped. I said I would fix the door, there is no reason to go to the lengths of suing me. What a drama King. She observed as best she could from her vantage point, seeing the top of his hair pass by the sink. This was by no means a flattering angle to be viewing anyone. She could hear him rummaging through a nearby cabinet, the small clink of bottles as he searched for something particular in mind.

Finally, there was the sound of a bottle scraping lightly against a surface, and a popping sound. A rather...pungent smell permeated the air, though in her current form, she figured it was a tad bit subdued given that she was likely getting that information from water molecules spread to her from the air and not so much from the literal sensation of smelling. Either way, she was able to indicate that it was some kind of strong beverage, likely alcohol. Isn't it a little early to be drinking? And so soon after a hangover? Kasen's musing were interrupted at Tama's sudden outburst to her side, somewhat distant now. The alcohol apparently was from Leaf.

Having found her current place of residence become slightly claustrophobic, Kasen moved her body from within the confines of the sink, reforming her normal shape. Her liquidated form shifted intuitively at her will, allowing her to reside in her normal body once again. She rolled her shoulders and neck, giving her fingers a quick flexing for good measure. The sink had left her body feeling rather tight. She found it fascinating how some of the residual effects transferred over. There was a brief though if anyone else experienced things like this, but that was a thought for another time.

Peering over to where Tama was going, Kasen grossed her arms, one of her hands settling on her chin with a contemplative curiosity. Kasen noticed the door move towards the side, unvealing all kinds of contraptions and tubes filled with things she couldn't even begin to identify. She had still not yet drawn attention to her presence, and Tama seemed invested in finagling with something or other. A sudden memory left Kasen standing there frozen.

Flashback said:
A small red haired girl tugged violently against the restraints she had on her wrists and ankles. She had been fighting the restraints for what felt like hours and the worn leather was soaked in blood, her skin freshly broken open. The table beneath her was made of cold steel that bit into the exposed parts of her skin with a deep, unforgiving chill and left a rigid soreness throughout her body. Tears streamed down the girls face. Tubes filled with chemical mixtures she couldn't identify were flooded into her bloodstream for hours. A man stood over her, injecting more syringes into her arm. The girl cried out for help, screamed for the pain and suffering to end, until eventually they muffled her screams of agony.

You are safe, that is not where you are. Do not dwell on your past, for you are paving a new future. Focus on the task at hand. Same's soothing voice ripped Kasen from the memory that seemed to have started consuming her. Kasen hadn't realized how tightly she had balled her fists until she noticed how white her knuckles had become. She forcibly had to relax her body and turn her attention back towards her surroundings, grounding herself once more. She inhaled, nearly gagging once more on the putrid aroma, but at least it didn't smell like that place. That was something that was different. Still, why did this Tama have all these things in his home? Enough observation had been done. Now was a time of action.

Quickly stepping forward, Kasen would approach Tama from behind. There would be a rather mischievous glint in her eyes, her lips turning upwards in just the slightest of smirks. She leaned in closely next to his ear. "Now if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were keeping secrets. Hmm, Tama?" Kasen would swiftly move back, having learned plenty of times that startling people tended to have involuntary violent responses as their fight or flight was activated and had just been on the wrong end of them one too many times. Still, now that she had him in her presence, they could finally start to converse. The only question is, would he?

There are only so many words that could express the discomfort of that situation Kasen placed him in during that moment. The last time he had so totally let his guard down, the last time a female voice had playfully whispered in his ear, it all dragged his mind briefly back to the relationship with Okibi. The highs, the lows, the bitter ending, and the reason why he was currently super drunk. The life he had tried so hard and wanted to make real was nothing more than a pipe dream, and it was his fault. He knew that, even if he could never admit to it, and it was these conflicting thoughts of his Ancient and Human heritage fighting each other that forced the bottle to his lips. With Kasen’s words in his ears, all at once, he felt fury, sadness, anxiety, and a mighty need to make it all stop. The emotion on top of all of them, though, was also panic.
To say Tama ‘jumped with fright’ was an understatement. He did the world’s greatest spit take, launched with the speed of a spooked cat, and flew right into a shelf full of stuff. Jars of liquid dropped and shattered, something metal caught the edge of something stone. Sparks. Fire. Lots of swearing. He turned around, stepping on the glass with bleeding, burning feet and looked up to recognize the new medical chief in his house. Looking at his most private things and setting them on fire.

Ugh, by the unholy…” the scientist muttered despite his current torrid affair with the flames on his feet. Lifting his hands he rolled his wrists counter-clockwise three times. Time froze and he shifted himself back through until the point he was no longer on fire; his things, quite were however. Rushing past Kasen he grabbed a fire extinguisher from a corner and began to hose down the fire that had started to quickly gather in strength. This too he did quickly with a few passing skips and finally stood before the medical chief in the end with his arm outstretched, hand full of empty extinguisher. He dropped it the trailer floor unceremoniously before lifting the bottle of whiskey back to his lips with the other hand, it being the one thing that didn’t break in his fright. He took a long, slow, drink from it, raising a finger to interrupt Kasen every time she tried to talk combined with a stern look until he had finished the liquor, threw the bottle into the mess behind him, and said with a glare,

’The absolute hell do ya’ want? Can’t you see I’m trying to privately enjoy my…my sorrows!? Can’t a man take a few days to mourn the passing of a simple life in trade for a more needlessly complicated one because he can’t just shut his goddamn mouth for two seconds, and…” Tama sighed, his hands that had raised in his small rant dropping to his sides in defeat.
Look, I’m not in a great place. Turns out I’m a shitty person and I’m kinda havin’ a time dealin’ with this knowledge, so, if yah please, get off me property before I call the ANBU. I’m sure, THAT THERE IS ONE RIGHT OUTSIDE,” he paused for a moment, drunk smirk slipping on his lips as he looked at the wall leading back towards the living room. Scurrying feet of a spooked shinobi on the outside of his trailer made him snicker before he turned to look back at Kasen. As if he had forgotten she was even there, his smirk dropped immediately and he threw his hands back up in frustration,
Are yah still ‘ere? Lookin’ for anything in particular? A warrant maybe? The right job?"

Watching Tama jump when startled was certainly a spectacle she hadn't anticipated. Kasen tilted her head slgithtly, one of her brows raised seeing Tama send all of the items upon their designated shelf tumbling to the ground. Kasen couldn't quite make out what the majority of the items were, but many of them broke in the process, some even causing a small fire. Witnessing as Tama stepped upon the glass and the flames licked at the ground, Kasen took a mild step back, concern written on her face. She opened her mouth to say something, maybe even try to douse the flame that now existed within the small confines of the trailer, but before she could, Tama performed some kind of...ritual that undid the mess. Kasen had experienced something like this before, back in a bar and when she visited Tea Country. She didn't quite understand it at the time, but there were certain individuals who could apparently interact with time and space. They could pause it entirely, rewind, or speed it up from what she could gather. Those people also were able to move freely within the constructs that they created, almost like a small vortex bubble. She didn't feel comfortable with the thought, having had it performed on her as a method of exploitation. While she was processing this information, still staring at the now fixed shelves, Tama had already ran past her and managed to put out the fire.

Turning her attention back to the Solar Hybrid, Kasen took a seat on the floor across from him, bringing her knees to her chest and placing her chin upon the top of them, looking at him with curiosity. The man merely drank his alcohol and continued to glare at her. Perhaps her presence was more of a nuisance than she had anticipated herself being. She let the man continue his rant, clearly upset. He had every right to be. She did after all barge into his home, practically ready to make her demands upfront and then leave without much of another thought. However, having seen the state of him, as well as...the curiosity that came with the things that were apparently stored behind the walls of what many would just consider to be a crumby trailer for hoarders, she couldn't help but wonder if there was more to this picture than what met the eye. Raising her hands as a sign of no ill will, Kasen approached the discussion from a different angle. "While perhaps we are not in the same boat, we might be on different shores of the same lake. I came with the prospect of bringing you back on board at the hospital, giving you access to resources and a bit of leniency from the upper management so to speak to let you freely navigate as you please, within reason. I've read some...interesting things in your file. My secretary is...incredibly efficient, you understand?" Pausing to think back to that discussion with Amanda, Kasen pondered a bit how the seemingly normal woman had even acquired some of the information she came across in that file. Amanda was an absolute delight, but something always just felt slightly off about her. Still, Kasen wasn't going to question her methodology because she was good at her job and also refused to give Kasen the recipe for her chocolate chip muffins. They were just so good; they absolutely had to be crafted with some sort of magic. Kasen had tried sneaking it from her once, but that only resulted in Amanda somehow managing to handcuff Kasen to her own desk and placing a glorious plate of delicious muffins just out of her reach. It took her a whole afternoon of groveling for Amanda to eventually uncuff her, but by that time Gary had already come in and stolen the desserts, much to Kasen's disdain and many expletives being shouted about how he would be fired. Gary showed up the next day anyway. Never again would she trifle with her secretary like that again.

Getting back on track, Kasen turned her attention back to Tama. "Anyway, I need help at the hospital, someone to do the rounds and manage things while I'm away or busy. You're a brilliant doctor and an even more brilliant, albeit mildly twisted, scientist. I don't expect something for nothing, but I believe we can come to some sort of....agreement." She had intended to leave her proposal at that, but something caught Kasen's attention. When she had first walked in, she sense his presence. One that matched only a handful since the party with the Nobles. Her interest got the better of her so she leaned in closer to him, squinting her eyes. "However, you...have this strange...feeling about you. I don't quite understand it. My brother, Kaen, gives off a sort of heatwave. That guy at the party, Mikaboshi, I think his name was...he had a very strange feeling presence too. And you...you're another one I've encountered, but you have this...airy feeling about you. Why?" Leaning back, Kasen looked him up and down. There didn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary with him. No horns, no strange physical attributes, nothing that indicated to her that he was some sort of holy or demonic being. So, why did she feel this way? This visit was just leaving her with more questions than answers. She just wanted to run her hospital.

When she held up her hands, there in his heart sparked some sort reaction. Something familiar in the stance reminded him of his family, both of them Wildlings, and how palms out was the universal sign for peace. Tama, with his arms still crossed and his vision heavy with annoyance, listened to what Kasen had wished to tell him in the first place. After the moment spent explaining the position of the hospital, the first unusual thing the scientist did was outright apologize,
I honestly do thank you for coming to offer my position, but, the point is kind of moot. The reason the hospital is falling apart right now is due to a lack of my presence, and it is on my shoulders. I’ve…been going, erm, through some stuff with my…now ex-girlfriend I guess? It was hard enough dealing with the fact I actually have a kid, let alone one who is nearly an adult already, but we just don’t mesh like we used to and-” he stopped. His expression had already softened considerably, his hands were moving through the air as if it would help explain his sudden self-loathing. Realizing that his pride was trying to justify itself for leaving his duties, Tama slowly let his arms fall to his sides and shook his head. The liquor was slowly loosening up the headache and a nice numbness was starting to stretch over his nervous system. He sighed, his eyes turned now to the ceiling,
Sorry, I’m rambling. Long story short is I’m a really shitty person, and people like me just don’t do well tied down. Even if…even, if I do still love her. We just became different people as we aged and I’m having a hard time getting over myself, more or less…

The doctor breathed in deeply and held it for a second, trying to relax his nerves. He could already feel tears trying to well up in his eyes and he’d be damned, if he was going to cry in front of his damn boss. All of those pent up emotions were near to flowing over as he attempted to agree to anything, now just to get her out of the house so he could be depressed without being embarrassed. At least, until she started going on about some noble party, and then a single name crossed her lips.

Mikaboshi.

In an instant all those emotions were swept away as Tama stumbled back a little from Kasen, his eyes incredibly wary of her. Had his master made more like him? Was she his sibling through the same creator? Immediately the scientist’s mind was brimming with questions, things that he needed to know, and a madness that was associated with his master that began to leak through his personality. It showed on his face for just a split second as his eyes and mouth both started to twist in a smile. His felt a shock in his heart and realized he was once again acting out his thoughts. His Court made it really hard to be subtle about nearly anything he did, a small curse leaving his lips as he righted himself. Kasen claimed she didn’t know what the ‘presence’ she was feeling was. The fact that the cousin could feel Mikaboshi at all was either because the monster had allowed it, or because the Chief herself was that powerful. So he began his explanation carefully,
Kasen, it is rare that I feel I need to be blunt, but if you can feel this,” Tama flexed his core muscles in a certain way before starting to channel his chakra, activating the seal that kept his Ancient powers balanced with Human DNA. He loosened it just enough that as he allowed the natural human power to escape his pores, Ancient energy followed in its wake. The stale air of his trailer suddenly became crisp and refreshing to breath. A spark of electricity cackled in little arcs over the walls, “then you have an Ancient’s lineage. How, you have it is something I’m curious about, as we - the Hybrids - are supposed to be extraordinarily rare. So, I’d like to make an offer.

Tama breathed in deep, put his hands together, and exhaled, turning the fingers to point down at Kasen,
I’ll return for same pay, but I’d like actual privileges that my other bosses have never afforded me. My own office, my own schedule, the ability to pick and choose my patients, aaaaand, lets say Head of Surgery. There are a few colleagues’ throats I’d love to shove that down. Other than that…weird question but, a vial of your blood? Look, I know, mad scientist and all and I can only imagine how much about me you know, but I assure you I only want enough to research into your Court, if you’d allow it.

To ask for permission was literally giving him indigestion. A part of his genetic coding was fighting him, trying to give him all kind of other things to do that wouldn’t sully his pride; however, it was the path of least resistance. Everything else involved fighting or chances, neither of which Tama was overly a fan of, and was sure he had given Kasen enough information to be curious enough to oblige. He didn’t know if this was a set up to reveal his heritage, but he’d real soon how much she knew.
