Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

It all started when a hundred men and women stormed the offices of the Main Branch in Torre Celeste, the day of August 7th, the 7th year of the Scientific Era. All were there for the same purpose, to request a name change in all official documents pertaining to their person. This, of course, raised inquiry, for all of them had similar background, and all changed their name to fit the same surname. Although keeping their first name, all shared the surname: Dekomori. This raised Miko's interest in learning more about his clan.

Who are the Dekomori?

If one spends enough time reading history book at the library, one may come to find some old ones, each differing from the each other in terms of story, but all hinting the conclusion that the Dekomori was not a clan to be taken lightly.

One called them the chosen people of the spirits, others called them heretics, grave-dwellers, ordinaries… or conquerors. One thing was for sure, the clan was as old as the human rebellion.
Always hiding in shadows, not much is known about this clan, other than the fact that they have ties with a single spirit. In some books, the spirit was not named due to ignorance, in others due to fear, but some dared mention the name of Kaoshogai, the spirit of chance. As a single book stated, Kaoshogai had cursed the Dekomori clan with something the spirit called “Destiny”. Since then, the clan has followed the same path, over than over again, falling down and rebuilding, but always without diverting from their so-called destiny.

They had spread the word of a religion that came to be called “The Church of Eight” due to the four paths, and four teachings, the church offers. Not much is said about this in those books that mention the clan, other than their devotedness to it. There are some although, that read specifically about this religion:
The Church of Eight said:
The Church of Eight

Description

To honor the eight spirits responsible for creation and chakra, the Church of Eight was created. In ancient times the church was small, situated only in a single village, but with the pass of time – it grew. Now, each of the eight spirits has shrines all across the continent, from the land of snow to tea country. The Church of Eight is not to be confused with the ordinary cults though, for its purpose is not only to honor the spirits, but to push humanity forward in a chase towards enlightenment. Publicly, the organization takes charge of several jobs and ceremonies, including the keeping of shrines, and the keeping of the artifact library. Secretly, the organization has a dark side as well, for in order to chase their true goals, they have to build up first.

[col]
Goals
The Church of Eight seeks to draw attention to the spirits responsible for life and chakra. This is a good thing, and a bad thing, for their reasons are still unclear to the public. Members of the church build shrines all across the continent, in addition to administering these shrines. They teach that humanity should not fear the spirits, for it was proven before (see: The Great Human Rebellion) that once alive and intelligent, we have no need for most, yet some provides valuable teachings (see: The Four Legendary Beasts), while others are simply preached for tradition, value, and blessing (see: The Four Great Spirits)|
The Four Great Spirits
  • Fuji: The Continental Plane. (He makes up the earth in which we live.)
  • Wakaukanome: She who brings health. (This spirit alone is responsible for the growth of agriculture.)
  • Omopu: She who grants will. (This spirit is responsible for humans having free-will and intelligence.)
  • Bishamon: The War-bringer. (He brings war on those who defy him. The church honors him in hopes of an alliance.)

The Four Legendary Beasts:
  • Genbu: The black tortoise. (Responsible for the base chakra affinity: Water) 水 Sui or mizu, meaning "Water", represents the fluid, flowing, formless things in the world. Outside of the obvious example of rivers and the lakes, plants are also categorized under sui, as they adapt to their environment, growing and changing according to the direction of the sun and the changing seasons. Blood is represented by sui, as are mental or emotional tendencies towards adaptation and change. Sui can be associated with emotion, defensiveness, adaptability, flexibility, suppleness, and magnetism.

  • Byakko: The white tiger. (Responsible for the base chakra affinity: Earth) 地 Chi or tsuchi, meaning "Earth", represents the hard, solid objects of the earth. The most basic example of chi is in a stone. Stones are highly resistant to movement or change, as is anything heavily influenced by chi. In people, the bones, muscles and tissues are represented by chi. Emotionally, chi is predominantly associated with stubbornness, collectiveness, stability, physicality, and gravity. It is a desire to have things remain as they are; a resistance to change. In the mind, it is confidence.

  • Sukaku: The vermilion bird. (Responsible for the base chakra affinity: Fire) 火 Ka or hi, meaning "Fire", represents the energetic, forceful, moving things in the world. Animals, capable of movement and full of forceful energy, are primary examples of ka objects. Bodily, ka represents our metabolism and body heat, and in the mental and emotional realms, it represents drive and passion. Ka can be associated with security, motivation, desire, intention, and an outgoing spirit.

  • Seiryu: The azure dragon. (Responsible for the base chakra affinity: Wind) 風 or kaze, meaning "Wind", represents things that grow, expand, and enjoy freedom of movement. Aside from air, smoke, and the like, can in some ways be best represented by the human mind. As we grow physically, we learn and expand mentally as well, in terms of our knowledge, our experiences, and our personalities. represents breathing, and the internal processes associated with respiration. Mentally and emotionally, it represents an "open-minded" attitude and carefree feeling. It can be associated with will, elusiveness, evasiveness, benevolence, compassion, and wisdom.

The Traditional Branch:
This serves tradition, and takes on the “old ways”. While still having a similar job to the second branch, the ranks in this branch are hereditary rather than elective. The clan branch honors a certain group of spirits explicitly (Ex: Kaoshogai), differing from the elective branch.|
The Elective Branch:
This branch, in contrast to the traditional branch, is composed of whoever wants to join the group. The ranks are given through election or selection. This branch has a council instead of a leader. Each member of the council is appointed a sector (North, South, East, West), and they are responsible for administering the church in that sector.[/col]

There was a single paragraph in a dusty book that Miko could not understand. Weeks went by since the day he learned the existance of the clan, and finally he had been able to decypher it, learning that the language it was written in was called "Vulgar Kumogakurean". With the assistance of Kyo, the found out what it said.
Underground

The Church of Eight is not all about honoring the spirits, for their true goals hold a deeper meaning, only whispered through those who actually hold a high-rank inside the organization. The church takes advantage of its many followers and position across the continent in order to hold underground diplomacy, to control that which is thought out of their hands. Other than this, in order to make money and “manifest their destiny”, they take part in black-market dealings and other illegal practices. All for the ultimate goal or conquer, and the enlightenment of mortals to the power beyond.

Kyo had promised to help Miko with his Vulgar, he had it down mostly and that meant that he didn't really need as much help with the actual language, most of what he needed was simply someone there to help find information on a clan and its members, so more the research of it than anything else. He had arrived late today, his training requiring more time than usual, his father had been very strict about not missing the session, it was a battle against several of the younger members of the clan where he fought alone. He was turning into an opponent to be respected, at least amongst the younger generations, the elders still scoffed at him and his abilities even while he was getting some recognition outside of the clan from instructors at the academy and even from members of the ANBU when he had interactions with them (or at least with the ONE that he had interacted with in the Forest). Today he would be giving Miko some help in the form of his Tape recorder and book combination, that had in audio on the tape that poke the words in Kumo so that one could get the proper pronunciation down, or at least closer than simply reading it and trying to say it on their own would do.

Kyo wandered through the halls of books and information that was the Bibliotheca Conscientiae while he looked for his friend, he knew the general area that Miko would be in, but even then with the size of the Bibliotheca Conscientiae it was rarely an easy task to find someone in it, much less find the information that one wanted to find in its depths. Eventually he found the boy in the area that he had found the book on his clan, it was a good thing too as it seemed that Miko was ready to leave, though that could just be Kyo’s interpretation of things. Giving Miko a wave Kyo sat down next to him at the large table that took up most of the isle and slid the book with the Walkman on top of it towards Miko, “This should help you somewhat.” He spoke along with it before turning his attention to the book that he had and reading a bit of it before shrugging and looking about, “Let me know if you need more yes?”

“Languages…” –Miko consecutively bumped his head against the table “I hate studying languages.”

Kyo had agreed to help him that day, and considering the fact that he had already learned the language, and could understand it to near-perfection, Miko was grateful for the help. He wanted to get this over with as fast as he could; the fasted he learned the language, the more he would learn about his clan, and the more he could get involved in it. For the moment, the things he knew only scratched the coverings of the entirety of the information on his clan.

He clicked a button on the tape recorder and a man started speaking in common, and then translated to vulgar. This helped Miko achieve wonders in that single day. He listened to the tape recorder for one hour, two hours, three- four hours; and finally he could hold a normal conversation for a few seconds in Vulgar, with his friend Kyo.

Γεια σας” – the boy paused. “πώς είσαι?” – he read his notes. “Το όνομά μου είναι… ahhh I hate vulgar! Why couldn’t they just stay with a single language?”

He cursed for another hour as he practiced the same thing over and over again “Hello. How are you? My name is…” Finally, after an hour of practicing, he could say it fluently, still, that was the only thing he could say. Kyo insisted that he should start that way, and little by little he would get to the translation of his book.

Another day passed, and another. One week. The genin exam was drawing closer and closer, and Miko spent every day on the library in hopes of learning the language and finishing the book about his clan before the exam started. Instead of translating vulgar to common, he did it backwards; he translated common into vulgar in order to practice.

It took him the entire day, and his hand was hurting badly after he was finished; but the conclusion was surprising. He had managed to write the first section of his book in Vulgar. (see: Top). Now, finally the time to translate had come. About two weeks ago he had bought a weird-looking book form a girl at her parent’s shop. The book was really cheap, only work 1,500 yen, still, it looked like it could hold interesting secrets, so Miko decided to buy it; after all, he had a bunch of money and nothing to spend it on. He spent the next couple of days translating the first section, and in the end, it read:
The Book said:
Translation said:
The kingdoms of the old come and go
but the winds and seas have lived so long.
Men and women have never changed
but the blood pounding remains the same.
Time and fate has told
that their hearts may be cold.
Those wishing to see the gore
will be cursed forever.
If you hear my warning means
you will know that this curse is true.
If you follow the trail of blood
death will come to us like a flood.
With the gift of a continuous glow
cease any which gather.
Treasures and generosity will always be for you
if you can discover the hidden doors.
Install the ruby eyes of the real
chamber of deception and lies.
The examinations and tests will start soon
all you have to do is repent.

To Miko it just sounded like religious babbling… OR a prophesy. Either way, it had been worth it, he could finally read, and speak a little Vulgar.
