Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

"Malleable is accurate, to say nothing else." Mikaboshi remarked, pushing down on her heart with all of the enormity of his presence within the intention to push her back into unconsciousness. They'd uncovered enough intelligence for today and were reaching the point where interrogation would cease to be effective because of the trauma it placed upon Avaron. She would either grow incoherent or Mikaboshi would lose control of the situation and she would find a way to terminate her own life during the session and neither of those things were what he was looking for.

Something is in The Pit...

Tenken's assessment of the Sovereign agent was... interesting, to say the least. He was right in that her reaction to her confinement was singular in the sense that most individuals who were condemned to the Obsidian Palace did not last long at this depth while remaining so coherent. Even sarcastic. Mikaboshi had been willing to chalk that up to her innate power to draw from the spirits of those around them. The hungry darkness of the Obsidian Palace was much like a living creature in itself as it had taken so much life over the years that the shadows had very much taken on an existence of their own. They did not seem to possess intelligence of any sort but certainly it could not be argued that the gloom of the Obsidian Palace was the same as the shadows cast on the surface or even the darkness of the underground cavern that Sunagakure had previously been situated within.

If Avaron drifted once more into unconsciousness, Mikaboshi would release her for the moment. He did not wish to kill her-- only render her... inert for the time being. She would need to be moved to a more secure cell that she could not cause damage to quite so easily as well as one that was not already damaged. He still had much he wished to do with her but for the time being he'd achieved enough. While Mikaboshi had not completely agreed with the conclusions that Tenken had arrived at, Avaron's reaction to them informed him that either by luck or by genius he was correct to some level. It seemed Avaron knew something about the Obsidian Palace that they did not.

"We should relocate her to a more secure cell. Perhaps one that has been maintained more proficiently. There is still much to be learned from her." Mikaboshi would advise if indeed Avaron succumbed to his intention to return her to unconsciousness before indicating Avaron's sagging arm which was free from the wall where previously she'd been chained. "In the mean time, perhaps we should compare notes. I certainly hope you are more prepared to take the threat of the Sovereign more seriously than your contemporary."

Episode 7: 'Mikaboshi x Roku'| Avaron Side Story said:
[col]Again, it was a stretch and he was very much accepting in the fact if he made such an utterance and it proved to be laughed at or completely dismissed. He, as a detective shouldn't do, push all his chips in on a hand that was comprised of his suspicions, trying to read into, whether too much or not, her actions or lack thereof and a simple moment where she placed emphasis on a trio of words. It was hardly firm ground to stand on, hell it wasn't even wet ground to stand on. It was just a stab in the dark with the most he could make out of the situation thus far. There was definitely more to her than some of the other Sovereign, and yet she mentioned the same damn phrase.

"You all need to learn a new mantra..."

Her final comment was a bit hazy, and would once more require him to run amuck in his own mind. Was the 'he' a reference to either Mikaboshi or himself, or was it in reference to something deeper in the recesses of this place? In a failure of his humanity, whether it proved to eventually be the right call or not, he would take it as the latter. Her minor verification seemed to be enough for Mikaboshi as well. He would nod at the recommendation of changing her location.

"I know it's been a while, but I assume you have a good location in mind for where to stowaway a truly troublesome prisoner such as her?"

This used to be his domain, and in all honesty still seemed to be very much his playground.

"Oh I am the friendliest of the bunch... I am mallea--*chuckle* sorry. Couldn't help it. I am much more cooperative when it comes to the Daimyo's twisted little toys."

He had not forgotten the emotions he felt towards his old boss, but he wasn't Kazuki. He wasn't Kuro. He wasn't Sousuke. In many cases that is a good thing and in others a bad thing. In this situation, he believed it to be better.

Avaron

Mikaboshi solved a mystery without realizing it. They were malleable and in this world words have meaning and the pen is mightier than the sword or so they say. So what did that phrase mean here, to them. Was it even a conscious statement, a steadfast prayer or the result of years of conditioning. Did they truly understand the words they said and why they said them. Of course not, often when people speak before they think but in this case it was the exception. She was malleable. More malleable than them. And he is not malleable at all. A distinction. A first. Her statement was cognizant but did she really understand it, the truth be told she did not fully understand the trespass she just made in her pain and desperation. The indignation and the thread of pride that remained in the Ranger had caused her in this moment of anguish and trepidation to call out for something that did not belong to her.

She was malleable. More malleable than they were. And yes, what hides in the deep and the dark was indeed set in his ways.

"Malleable is accurate, to say nothing else."

Mikaboshi remarked. It felt as if he had pressed his knee against her sternum. It forced the air out of her lungs with a single, sudden wheeze. She wanted to die but her body still tried to take a breath, it was only natural. She could not breathe and her lungs burned. She could not cough or utter a word of protest. It would have been faster, less painful if he had wrapped his hands around her throat because then the deed would be done in seconds. Rather, Mikaboshi would during the course of the discussion between himself and Tenken watch her struggle for air with shallow, ineffective gulping breaths. Her lips would turn blue, well bluer than they were from the hypothermia she was suffering from before. Her body was ice cold long before she was knocked out and the process of being left unconscious would be protracted, potentially in part by Mikaboshi's inherent cruelty but also Avaron's impressive durability.

"You all need to learn a new mantra..."

Tenken taunted. Perhaps he needed to understand the phrase better. There were some that used it, but they used it differently. Then there were some that did not use it at all. Did the Cabal ever use it? Did Shouki ever use it? Did Fuu? Some Cabalists also belonged to the Soverign or at the very least likely underwent the same brainwashing as their contemporaries and yet the phrase was not utilized. What made Fuu or Shouki for that matter different from the rest of the Soverign? Why did Avaron proclaim it in the way she had?

"We should relocate her to a more secure cell. Perhaps one that has been maintained more proficiently. There is still much to be learned from her."

She was still conscious, one of her ribs cracked under the intense pressure. Her eyes widened from the fresh jolt of pain.

"I know it's been a while, but I assume you have a good location in mind for where to stowaway a truly troublesome prisoner such as her?"

Their dialogue continued. Things were starting to get hazy, words muffled but understandable. The edges were getting dark, closing in.

"In the mean time, perhaps we should compare notes. I certainly hope you are more prepared to take the threat of the Sovereign more seriously than your contemporary."

Making plans in front of the enemy. Is victory that assured? It hurt.

"Oh I am the friendliest of the bunch... I am mallea--*chuckle* sorry. Couldn't help it. I am much more cooperative when it comes to the Daimyo's twisted little toys."

Finish that phrase bitch, I dare you.

I fucking dare you...

And the darkness took her. [KO]

Tenken's guess about Mikaboshi knowing a better place to store someone of Avaron's unique talents was not off the mark. Once upon a time the Obsidian Palace had very much been Mikaboshi's undisputed domain and he had spent most of his time here. For that reason the former director of the ANBU corps had many secret hideaways in the Obsidian Palace for his own use but one in particular came to mind at the moment. Early on in his tenure as the warden of the Palace he had set up a laboratory for his research on the human condition on the first subterranean level of the Palace. It was hidden, secure and quite well equipped to hold chakra-producing prisoners. Much of Mikaboshi's research and experiments had been kept a secret from Sunagakure and from the Kazekage as he'd known that Sousuke would not have approved such grisly endeavors but the need for such a facility outweighed Mikaboshi's desire to keep it a secret for now.

"I do indeed know of a place." He stated cryptically, looking back to Avaron as her eyes opened once more. If nothing else, Mikaboshi could respect her durability. It was a testament to her construction. It only lasted for a moment before unconsciousness took her for certain this time.

Even with Avaron fully subdued Mikaboshi still did not withdraw the talons of his shadows that were sunk deep into her essence and draining away her life force. Even while she was unconscious Mikaboshi could still feel the draining effect of her powers on his body and he had no intention of making the mistake of letting her recover while she was out.
He had already bested her once and was nothing if not confident that he could do it a second time but that would delay his timetable. Every second that he spent flailing around with Avaron while recapturing her was another second that the forces of the Sovereign Academy were using to out maneuver him. No... not of the Sovereign Academy.

Of Osagawara Nao, he reminded himself.

Reaching up, Mikaboshi clasped Avaron by the throat and lifted her aloft before gathering her limbs and binding them in the chains that had been used to secure her to the wall. Clasping the broken ends of the chain in one of his hands a sudden heat would emanate from within his digits, searing the chains and merging the broken links together into a singular binding which was tight around her limp limbs to prevent her from moving.

"It is not far from here. Shall we take a walk, Tenken?"

[col]He assumed correctly, Mikaboshi had a specific location in mind. It was a sneaky suspicion he had but not one that was completely earth shattering. It would be far odder if Mikaboshi didn't have little secrets stowed away within the structure. It was one of the reasons, granted a smaller one, for why he wanted to relocate ANBU away from the prison. While it was troublesome how the Ancient still had his ways within this former, and still, playground of his, there was some respect from Tenken to his former commander. The Ancient paid his dues, whether he was compelled through it or rebelled at the end of it, so he deserved to maintain some connection to this branch. A legacy of sorts.

Does he even care for such trivial things?

It seemed like a human thing, clinging to such silly accomplishments, but that is probably why Roku enjoyed his humanity. He was a silly man that enjoyed his accomplishments. One of said accomplishments was being carted away to further despair, and he was interested to see what else he could learn from his former boss.

Avaron remained slumped over. She was not dead but she was also barely alive. So she would be carried off to places previously unknown. Through the dark and twisting avenues of the Obsidian. The structure continued to drain her but it was more than negated by her own feeding that seemed to emulate the prison itself in a strange and troublesome manner. Of course she had a lot more in common with the people of Sunagakure than either truly knew.
