Yuuto drug the lifeless body of a small creature into the wing of the hospital. It was a baby of the Manticore he assimilated into his-self gaining the abilities of duration and sturdiness along the way. There were many gifted individuals in the world, most usually having some kind of special quirk about them or have the capacity to use secret clan jutsu conceived by kinsmen of that lineage. Their genetic disposition is what allowed them to do such things, but for now he'd have to pick back up his research. One of the things that made this so important was his ability as a "Chimera" to absorb and assimilate other beings into himself and take on their abilities. Yuuto had originally started off by assimilating the fresh corpse of Hashigaki Ido. He then gave up the lineage of the Hashigaki to assimilate an Assassin from an organization he had yet to fully discover yet. The assassin was of Uchiha lineage and they had Novice control over the Mangekyou Sharingan. The Sharingan is a weapon Yuuto had studied vigorously over the years. He had grown a distain to the Sharingan since being cursed by a Mist Shinobi with a Sapphire Sharingan. However in his adulthood Yuuto was no fool, and being a genjutsu specialist who now not only knew how to imitate the Hashigaki Clan's method of using Genjutsu, mastering Sound Ninjutsu as illusions, Yuuto could now further his abilities with Genjutsu using the Sharingan to enhance himself further than before.

However one of the other benefits of the Sharingan is the ability to see Chakra. Like the Hyuuga the Uchiha are able to see Chakra patterns through the use of their Doujutsu, but they cannot see through walls or obstacles. or see the chakra coil like the Byakugan. However in order to activate the Sharingan, one must have a purpose for its power, a deep emotional stress, whether positive or ngative, it is the eye that reflects the heart. For Yuuto he could trace multiple moments of great peril or emotional trauma. He could visualize the day his Grandfather died, or visualize the day that he needed to be stronger to fend off the Bear Marsh invaders. It seemed as though his biggest desire was that of jealousy and self preservation. He remembered being helpless to the Mist Shinobi's sapphire Sharingan, barely able to do anything not even utter help. His Sharingan, was blood red, and burned with the rage of the Uchiha. Nakiyobi, the boy he assimilated for these eyes, must have had the similar issues, or intense feelings of hatred. Yuuto could simply feel that this was the strongest emotion to activate his Sharingan, and further to that of the Mangekyou.

Yuuto brandished his puppet blades, still able to dual as surgical equipment. With the creature on an operating table, he would prepare to cut open the new manticore he acquired for study. Yuuto's Sharingan made analyzing the body so much easier, everything read like a scene to him, from the different chakras of himself, and the creature. That combined with Mystical Replication Yuuto could pinpoint different focal points of the corpse to learn its tricks. Yuuto took out a tape recorder, preparing to record the procedure he was about to perform.

"The subject is a Manticore, a Chimera type creature. It is of the Hyena/Scorpion hybrid that I assimilated recently. Ever since assimilation I have concluded that the creature's quirks lie in physical durability and near resurrection. It also houses very toxic poison that its body has an immunity to. It was able to curl into a ball becoming a stalwart absorbing all the damage I dished out and coming out barely scathed. Subject has shorter pinsirs and claws the male variant but seems to house more poison. However since this is not a mature sample results could vary."

He would then draw a blood sample for the creature , only to then go into the next step and begin cutting the body cavity from shoulder to shoulder down the center, mimicking a Y shape. Yuuto would set down his puppet blade, and extend his hand. Next he'd wrap Shredding Touch, around his hands enhanding it with the power of Sound to create a fast vibration that he would use to shear the rib cage open. Yuuto peeled back the creatures Skin flaps and examined the inside of the body with his Sharingan.

"Hmm interesting, the body doesn't have a heart as I'm sure I obliterated it like before, but there are still signs of organs functioning well after the fact. Where the heart should be, there is a small amount of flesh, like whatever parts were leftover tried to heal and keep the Manticore alive. It's almost like a form of regeneration. While the exterior shows wounds only my attacks that were meant to pierce the creature are apparent on the inside. Beyond the brain trauma most likely caused by my Genjutsu, this creature probably died from the excess of wounds. It can harden its skin to deflect blows and the more damage it takes the faster and stronger it gets. The children aren't as tough as the adults but their nimble speed is definitely something to note. Luckily I was able to negate that factor by utilizing Genjutsu."

The Medical Chief continued his autopsy barely getting to the surface as he starting cutting at a leg of the Manticore.

His hand traced over the leg easily slicing into it like butter. Yuuto was observantly staring at the cells of the leg move, his Mangekyou straining to look deeper at the tissues and the muscles. Now strictly between writer to reader, Yuuto was in a ton of pain. These Mangekyou come with a hefty price and no amount of research or knowing Uchihas, getting second hand accounts, can make up for the true amount of pain it takes to keep maintaining the Mangekyou. Luckily for the Chimera, he had absorbed one of the sturdier creatures around and this helped him ease the toll of his doujutsu.

By focusing intently on his opponent, his vision became sharper and the meat of the leg began to reveal the tiniest movements when he applied chakra to it. By using Medical Chakra, the green aura could revitalize the cells of people and animals. Even trees could be healed through this form of chakra. By applying it to the dead tissue, for a moment Yuuto could revitalize it once more causing small movements which could reveal how this creature reacts to outside influces. He’d set it down on the table and say the word, “Summon” using a Amp’d up version of his Elemental Clone, creating a Sound/Wind Based Clone. His clone would raise its arm using the shredding touch ninjutsu before slamming into the slab of leg meat while Yuuto watched the open inner tissue and how it reacted. From his increased perception, the impact of the strike caused 2 major things to happen. On the interior the muscles of the Manticore leg became like rubber almost absorbing the shock and then pushing that impact off of itself either negating it entirely or taking a lot less damage. He also saw that the exterior husk began to harden, like the skin of the creature naturally reacted to trauma.

However this was only the case when the cells were active. So it made him curious exactly how much could this body take? Yuuto himself would mold sound chakra into his hand creating a regular Rasengan infused with Sound Element. He’d slam it on the leg meat, seeing that the same effect happened but it had a threshold. If that threshold is exceeded then the body takes the residual damage. It was good information considering this is how Yuuto’s body would respond to harm as well. Due to the constant strain on his body from assimilation, he would have it in a smaller dose, but a dose none the less.

His next curiosity was how resilient this body was to poisons. He wanted to check their immune system, taking out a vial of serpents blood to stain the inner tissue. He realized that not even his eyes were on that level to peek at the formation of cells, but he could at least use a frickin microscope, so he could actually see the cells. So doing just that Yuuto would slice off a portion of the Manticores tissues using Medical Chakra on it to revitalize the cells once more and bring it to a microscope. After applying the poison he’d observe tissue still using his Sharingan, Yuuto would see that the cells were actually combating the poison. It seemed like whenever this creature had a threat, its entire body became a reactionary weapon, to stave off damage while it attacked. However he couldn’t forget the one he assimilated held memories of battles it had won against other creatures. The Manticore he assimilated…

Okay reader you following? We’re gonna call his Manticore, Morton. Cause I’m not gonna keep doing this whole “Manticore this” and “Manticore that” Cool? Cool.

.. Morton’s memories of the past revealed that when his body took too much damage or he had accumulated enough punishment he’d springboard channeling all that pain using his own chakra to draw on it and retaliate with the same amount back. Morton would catch tougher opponents off guard with that move. While gaining more information through the tattered memories he received through assimilation, and cutting this creature up, Yuuto was able to assess this creature’s abilities. He would begin to clean up, washing his hands and preparing to put in another report before he took a break.

”It seems as though this creature is an extremely durable beast that prides itself on taking damage only to return it to the enemy through their body. Their way of battle is a steadfast one, taking defense as a primary tool while still dealing their own offenses. Examining the inner thigh’s tissue I was able to find that this creature’s body reacts to attacks immediately by trying to bounce the damage off of it. Their hide is not rubbery but their muscles react like rubber. This would explain the sudden bursts of speed it gets and the ability to shirk off and return damage. While that happens their skin hardens, protecting them from incoming danger. This creature is poison resistant, probably due to its scorpion pincers and tail. I have yet to-“

He started getting a bit dizzy, gripping his hand on his right eye, he looked at his palm noticing he had blood on it. Yuuto had to sit down for a moment uttering a single word.

“Overuse…”

He said calmly to himself deactivating the Mangekyou Sharingan, and applying the Regeneration Medical Jutsu to him pressing the green aura directly onto his eyes. Yuuto had the Mangekyou on for so long he forgot the pain, trying to adjust to it was still new but none the less beneficial. For now he’d let the Regeneration Jutsu heal his eyes as he drank a Energy Drink to restore his chakra reserves.

Coming back to the operating table with his Sharingan Re-Activated (Not the Mangekyou), he proceeded to inspect what was left of the carcass. Without a doubt he was sure that he figured out how this body worked for the most part. When attacked the muscles contracted and then snapped back like rubber bands. "These manticore have shock absorbing muscles unlike the "main" ones who flew around because it would probably weigh them down. However the land based manticore got smart probably realizing they could use their muscles like springs and become more nimble while retaining their sturdiness, but they weren't very accurate attack wise. They have a shared trait of hardened skin that they can reinforce by using their chakra to overwork their rubbery muscles, the manticore becomes immobile soaking damage and bouncing it off more vigorously. Even though they become a sitting duck, it still gets them through a tough moment or three. I've noticed that there are periods when their body cant really be hurt, like they just eat the damage, but then if it's too much their body becomes injured. So they can somehow shrug off pain but theres a threshold. Another interesting thing is that the more damage the body takes the more cell activity the body incurs. Almost as if it's a defensive mechanism to get stronger during combat. I believe that if the muscles can be controlled better then one could collect the kinetic force of the attacks and then release control of the muscles allowing them to naturally snap back the damage they were enduring. It's a theory, probably one I'll have to try with my body. The biggest mystery is how they were able to come back from the brink of death. I am now applying Medical Chakra to the cells observing the body's movement with my sharingan. I'm specifically applying the Regeneration technique to the mound of residue flesh that's supposed to be its heart. I pierced the body with Chidori and crushed the heart, but the manticore some how reconnected these pieces together. I'm not really sure if this is even going to work.... Nope the body won't take, maybe it's a secret that has to be observed intently while it happens."

Yuuto would begin to put his disposables in the trash, while putting the rest of the carcass in a -Bio-Hazard- case. The case filtered a liquid preservative that would keep the body intact. Yuuto would stash this case in a cooler, labeling it the "Scorpion Hyena Hybrid Manticore". He'd then close the unit, and work on the clean up. It only took him about 45 minutes to straighten the room, disinfect it, dispose of contaminated equipment, dispose of soiled scrubs, sterilize equipment, label and stock test samples, and file his data. He was off to a good start, leaving the operating room cleaner than when he entered. He had filed the "Steadfast" Quirks of the Manticore wondering if other humans could have these natural abilities without the use of a Chimera gene. Even if they didn't Yuuto was going to devise a way to control muscle movements with chakra thus creating similar effects to the Manticore.
