Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Ryuichi woke up early Tuesday morning with a groan, and the sounds of his team mates still asleep with the occasional shuffle of sheets, or snore. He climbed down from his bunk after a few seconds of cursing his decision to do a mission on a Tuesday of all days. This would screw up his sleeping schedule for sure.

Regardless of future habits, Ryuichi quickly donned his basic ANBU gear and black mask with haste, not wanting to spend any more time on this than he had to. He looked at himself in the mirror, and froze. What he saw was an elite assassin in training. Not Otani Ryuichi, the boy who was trying to prove his worth. Not a young man with aspirations, or ideals that he wanted to achieve. It was a blank slate that was used to complete missions for the village.

Was he really okay with this? He wanted to become something that his mother would be proud of. Someone who could achieve things the usual shinobi couldn't. Why had he decided to become a masked tool?

Not wanting this to dwell during the mission at hand, Ryuichi simply shook his head and decided to think of this at a later date. He opened the window on the side of the apartment complex, and bolted out towards the rooftops with chakra-empowered speed. He stopped at the gate to see another ninja on guard duty, and showed his trainee mission pass, and his ANBU tattoo before being told "You have a week. With the trip there, and back you should have 5 days total to get what you need to. Go on."

Ryuichi nodded, and quickly bolted through the gate, wanting to arrive at Port Cirus before sundown.

The sun hung low on the horizon signifying the end of the day. A white-masked young man who went by the codename "Matcha" when donning ANBU attire walked into Port Cirus with the mission details in his hand.
Location: Port Cirus
Mission type: Investigation and possible capture/assassination
Mission rank: D
Details:
Reports coming from all over Port Cirus over the course of the past few weeks have gone up. Complaints of theft, assault, and property damage have all reportedly be done by masked individuals that appear to be in the age range of 8 to 12 due to height, physique, and in some cases voices.

These masks are circular, and completely blank. Almost identical to our own ANBU in training masks. These crimes could cause unrest and confusion to the public, and must be stopped. The mission will be considered complete with the capture of these individuals.

Note: despite their age they have reported to be using low-level jutsu usually taught to students in the academy. With several dropouts known this isn't something to laugh at, and should they cause too much trouble with their capture after a basic warning then do not hesitate to end their lives. Anyone who uses ninjutsu for crime will be trialed as an adult, and resisting commands is not an exception.

Raiden guide you.

Ryuichi thought long and hard for a few moments, looking over a map of reported areas that these crimes were committed. All alleyways, and secluded areas. Completely bland, and the norm for petty things like this. Ryuichi was absolutely exhausted from his trip here, but such things needed to be ignored if he was to complete a mission like this.

He would jumped up onto a house, at first gaining the attention of a few townsfolk. He simply gave a small salute, and bolted off towards the middle of the port, awaiting nightfall in just a couple hours.

Once nightfall had covered the port Ryuichi was chewing on an energy pill with his mask partially shoved to the side to reveal his jaw, and mouth to allow him to eat. His eyes were a crimson red, signifying his foreign heritage to any who saw him. He was currently perched on the top of a large building with multiple stories overlooking most of the port, awaiting any kind of action.

Then, as if on queue, a woman's yelling was heard and the white haired nin was quick to straighten his mask and bolt to the location of the sound. What he saw was a small figure, around 4 foot tall, with long black hair and a purse wearing a white circular mask. 'bingo' Ryuichi thought, landing in front of the presumed criminal with his hand on his katana placed on his back.

The figure stopped, no expression visible through the pure white mask. A woman with blonde hair, and foreign clothing came running afterwards, presumably the one the purse belongs to. Ryuichi looked the smaller person dead in the eyes, and drew his katana, seeing a visible shaking in the criminal's arms.

"I'm Matcha. I have been issued to see an end to crimes here in Port Cirus." He said, pointing their mask. "Remove your mask, or I will be forced to see punishment through here and now."

The masked individual panicked, dropping the purse and throwing off the mask to reveal....a small girl. Ryuichi had a confused expression that couldn't be seen behind his mask. "Name. Age. Now." He stated. The girl had tears forming in her eyes and a whimper in her voice. "Iyoshi Hina. 11." She said, falling on her knees. "I don't-" she wheezed, starting to cry. "I don't wanna die!"

The girl's crying was only met with a sigh from Ryuichi. He put the blade back into his sheath, and knelt down. "you aren't gonna di-" He was cut off with the woman arriving, and screaming. "Ninja, behind you!" pointing further into the alleyways. Ryuichi quickly turned around to be met with three more masks, all being worn by similarly aged children. All three of them began flashing handseals, and Ryuichi quickly did the same. Three child voices, one girl and two boys, would say "Futon: Fireball jutsu- Mythical pheonix fire!" As several small fireballs flew out of each of their mouths. Ryuichi was quick to respond by slapping the ground. "Shakuton: Searing land!"

A wave of pure orange heat filled the alleyway, burning any trash cans and random items in it's wake and searing all the walls of the nearby buildings, but in turn completely destroying all the fireballs that came across it. The wave slammed into all of the figures in front of him, causing some screaming before they fell over, seared clothes and scorched masks. Ryuichi glanced at the girl and woman behind him seeing no injuries. He pointed to the previously masked girl as if to say "don't move" and went to check the vitals of the people who suffered his attack.

They were all alive, but they all had burns across their body. He turned to the woman with blonde hair and said "You. get your purse then get a doctor here. Tell them all of these kids are to be put into prison the moment they have recovered until I can find out what's going on." He glanced to the small girl with his eyes still crimson red. "And you. You're going straight to the cells for now. Don't be afraid, because I have a feeling the village will have use for you and your friends outside of bars." With that he jumped on top of a building, continuing to look out for other targets.

Three days off lookout had passed with Ryuichi living off of instant noodles, and soldier pills. the crime rate had gone down to a nearly nonexistent level with the rumors of a masked ninja watching the streets. It was kind of nice to have his job seem as romanticized as that. A hero in the night, unseen and indirectly praised. One could make a movie-neh an entire franchise out of this idea.

Regardless, there was a job to be done here. After some questioning from the first girl Ryuichi had discovered that there was a man who promised to teach the kinds ninjutsu in return for money. All of the children were also part of the same orphanage, and after some more digging he had discovered that it was an orphanage meant for children of MIA or KIA ninja, meaning most if not all of them had the potential to wield chakra.

Ryuichi was leaning against a window on the third story of an abandoned building a ways from the coastline of the port. Every night he found a new place to lookout, not wanting to miss anything.

This night was no exception, and he only stopped to get rest when the sun rose.

He sent a letter to kumo wanting to request extra time for the mission, sending all the details obtained.

Re: Part 2

Sitting in a hotel room had never been such a boring thing for Ryu. He had always made sure to entertain himself with books, or training...yet with the current situation, he didn't exactly have much to go with. With his request sent via messenger all he had to do now was wait. The room he was currently in was a basic one roomed bedroom with next to nothing other than a bed, a stand, and a lamp. The walls were drywall, and chipping all over the place showing a desperate need for a new layer of plaster, and paint.

Ryuichi was in this situation because he was awaiting for permission from the village to continue further with the current mission. You see, he had done as his original message stated: Go to port Cirrus to apprehend the source of criminal activity. He had done just that in the form of multiple children, all wearing faux AiT masks. But now there was this knowledge of a man teaching them for money...was he a mercenary? An enemy nin trying to train up soldiers to attack the lightning country from the inside? That's exactly why he had sent the letter to Kumo.
The letter said:
Subject: Mission update
Current mission: Apprehend rising criminal activity in port Cirrus
Details: After taking watch for several days I had stopped a group of children stealing a purse from a traveler woman. They all had access to a handful of mid-level ninjutsu, despite being children. Their control over said techniques was laughably bad in terms of an adult, but the fact that these kids were pulling this off was enough of a reason to spark my interest. I captured all of them, and they all currently sit in the cells of port cirrus, awaiting what they assume is judgement. However, they gave me all the needed information to carry on.

From what they said, a man is teaching them these things in exchange for food and money. He currently resides in an abandoned boathouse west of the port, along with 3 other children. I have included any information on the currently captured individuals with this letter, and request a retrieval nin to bring them from the Cirrus cells in order to bring them to Kumo for (non violent) interrogation, and possible enrollment in the ninja academy.

Please report back to allow me to carry on with this mission

So he would lay about patiently, eat when hungry, scout when dark. Watching over the port from behind the ANBU mask. Sadly, he could never find any new perpetrators, meaning there was a great possibility of them knowing they're under watch. If that's the case, then every moment without approval to move on was bringing him dangerously close to a failure. He couldn't allow that, so all he had to do was wait.

One morning, a solid week after he was sent in the first place, there was a blur of movement from outside his window, and a scroll tossed inside of his room. Opening it he saw his previous note, only with a large stamp saying APPROVED adorning the bottom left corner. There was also an extra slip of paper. Ryu read through it, having just gotten out of his work attire
The paper said:
Approved. A retrieval nin has come to take the children to kumo for questioning, and will return in three days for any others. Raiden's luck to you.

With that Ryu simply snapped his fingers and allowed a white mask to come out of nowhere upon his face, and he jumped out of the window, scroll being stuffed into his pajama pocket. In his hand, superheated gases started to glow, and ignite, creating a trail of floating plasma in the still dim morning sky, replicating a borealis out of the red, blue, and white hues that his plasma jutsu usually took form in.

Eventually he arrived at the shiphouse, his hand going insane with a massive amount of chakra infused within it. He jumped up to the top of the building, and simply....punched downwards. When he did, countless colors flooded the building, and created a hole for him to slip in. He could see past all the colors plainly to notice a man, on the ground and shaking....

The entire room was made up of broken ships put back together to fit everyday needs. A bed, a bath, and what looked like a wooden sink, full of filthy dishes.

The man himself was well into his 30's, covered in heavy clothing that would normally be seen on a traveling nomad. He was laying there, quivering at the lights as they began to die down. Ryu was quick to run up to the man, and push him to the ground in a hold.

Before he could tell the man he was going to be put into custody, he poofed away in smoke to reveal a small boy, covered in bruises. Ryu quickly got off, and looked around for the man, only to be met with a kunai centimeters away from his left eye. That very same eye instantly went crimson red, and was grabbed by the blade with Ryu's bare hand, causing some serious cuts on his palm. The very same man that the boy had mimicked was on the other end with several more kunai in hand. Ryu simply dropped the blood-covered one he was holding, and stared at him....

He fell to the ground instantly, breathing heavily. "Make it stop!" He screamed, as Ryu stepped forward towards him. He had put the man under a genjutsu that simply made him hate himself to a point of self harm. However, he was so cowardly that he didn't dare try to hurt himself.

Ryu was quick to restrain him, using his own clothes to tie him up against a nearby pole. There was more to do....

With the bruised kid still breathing on the ground where Ryu had bounced, he was sure there must be more. This man...Using orphans to get food, and money and now using them as decoys? Laughable.

With enough time, and patience he was able to find a small boy, and a girl who looked to be nearly his age hiding out in one of the abandoned boats. They both had brown hair, and blue eyes and the girl was holding the boy tightly in her arms as he cried. He was around 7 years old and Ryu could see through his sharingan that he had pathetic chakra in him, even compared to the other children. The girl, however, had enough to warrant being a threat.

The girl held a kunai towards Ryu, and shouted "STAY BACK! Goro-Sama told us about what you people do!" only to be met with Ryu's blank red-eyed stare. "You kill, you destroy, and you take away! Get the hell out before this thing gets lodged in your throat!" She shook it towards Ryu, who simply shrugged. "Look lady, you aren't the ones at fault right now. The old man who used a boy as a decoy, however, is. You two will be escorted to the local cells before transport to kumogakure to evaluate enrollment in the ninja academy, and possible mental rehabilitation....it all really depends on how much that guy screwed with your heads." He stated, slapping his hands together. Pulling his two palms apart would reveal countless strings of red hot chakra, looking like threads of string.

He pulled his hands apart further until the strings of heat started to float around in the air, and started shifting colors in an attempt to calm down the boy, who was shivering and on the verge of tears. "Here....Just watch the lights, and be co-operative. You, and the kid aren't in any kind of danger."

The girl had been holding her kunai towards Ryu the entire time, not budging. Ryu just had to sigh, and lunge forward, stealing the kunai from her hand, and pinning her hand to the ground, channeling his chakra to cause the earth beneath them to rip through the wooden boat interior to form a shackle that held her down. He did the same to the boy's leg, despite protest and crying, and went to check the third one's vitals.

The very next day, Ryu was able to get in touch with the retrieval nin who had taken care of the last batch of kids, and arrived to see three more faux-ninja, but the brains behind it all....not very smart brains, but brains regardless.

He left it to the other nin, and started walking towards kumo, not wanting to wait for a nice bath, and meal for a change.
