Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

This was year...Ōrudo had long since lost track. Thirty? Thirty-five? It didn't really matter but it was leaving him in something of a pickle. He had exhausted every different method he could think of to angrily burst through a classroom door that his now fully depleted creativity had completed demoralized him for the morning. As a result, Ōrudo settled for an old classic. Anger. What he lacked in creativity he could definitely compensate for with unbridled bitterness and rage. It was with that thought held fast in his heart that the door to the class room burst open as if a bull had thrown its full weight into it, the finest of Kumo engineering being the only thing keeping the poor thing on its hinges, as Ōrudo stormed into the room. The kids should be praying to Raiden that they were in the class when he got there.

"Les get this squared up here and now ya little monsters. Rule 1.) When I'm talking, shut up. Rule 2.) When I'm not talking, shut up. Rule 3.) Only ignore rules 1 and 2 if I tell you to. Now!"

The man had blown through the room while speaking, adorned in his typical yellow, stained garb and wearing the blue brimmed cap down over his eyes, obstructing them from view of the students before positioning himself at the front of the room. Once finished, Ōrudo smacked the broom he seemed to be perpetually carrying against the blackboard behind him. This served two purposes. One, the loud smack against the board would be sure to get their attention and two, loud noises were fun.

"We'll get the introductions over with quick, I don't care what order you guys go in but stand, state your name, age, whether you like boys or girls, don't really care, but let me know if you've gone through your stupid little paper test yet. Keep it brief so we can get out of this stupid class room."

The excessively grumpy old man aura that seemed to pour out of him did its job well enough of letting them know they should focus on the brief part.

Now I know Irie and Yui have both done tutors/classes before, but we're going to go through and break down a lot of the OOC stuff that goes into how things work on NC as well in these threads. We'll be doing this for almost anything that has some kind of OOC proceedings to it, like when we go over the B.mod system or when we go over missions, etc. If you don't feel like you need these, feel free to ignore them, they're being put in spoilers for this reason.

A class thread, like this one, functions as a means to gain Stat points/ASP outside of the normal restriction of the one training per week rule. Classes are defined as a teacher(Ōrudo) instructing one or more academy students(You three). When you complete a class, you effectively get to double your training output for that week. To complete a class, you must make 5 posts with a word count totaling 1500 or more words. To properly document this, make sure you display the word count and your post count at the end of each post. It's also preferred if you show a little mercy for our council who checks the trainings if you keep a running total of each post so they have an easier time keeping track of things. You do not need to format it the way I did for this post, just need to make sure you have all the pertinent information present.

When you finish a class thread, fill in the pertinent information in the appropriate "class" section of your training post template and a council member will review and approve the additional points to your character. The base gain on stats for a completed class is 35, but voting rewards will typically offer double that on tutors/classes if we do well enough for that month.

She had arrived at class early, she didn't really have responsibilities outside of this, so it was easy to appear early and wait. She was just standing and leaning against the wall next to the door as people filtered in. She didn't say anything, but she kept a kind face in case anyone wanted to talk to her, to keep approachable but it was all an act, she'd need a read on everyone before she knew how best to fit in here, as she did everywhere she went. She was a chameleon as it where, both socially and not. It wouldn't be long until those who would show, came in and formed up their social groups, if they weren't all pouting edge-lords keeping to themselves, something that happens a lot in the profession. That being said, the teacher would arrive with what she could only describe as gusto. He burst through the door, a spark of adrenaline filled her system as she was on the side of the door it swung open on, hence she was about to be smooshed. The world slowed down around her, and she shifted to the side, dipping out and landing squarely in a chair to a desk closest to the door, spinning around and sitting upright as if she'd been sitting there all along, leaving an afterimage behind to get mushed, not that anyone would even see. His instructions were to keep quiet unless told otherwise, and then he made them introduce themselves. She would stand up when her time was made evident and speak clearly, and short.

"We'll get the introductions over with quick, I don't care what order you guys go in but stand, state your name, age, whether you like boys or girls, don't really care, but let me know if you've gone through your stupid little paper test yet. Keep it brief so we can get out of this stupid class room."

"My name is Yui Tsukiko, I'm 9, I like everyone, and when I was initiated I did the test, earth was my element." she then sat down in the chair fast, hurting her skinny rear end when her tail bone smacked the hard wood chair. The boy or girl question was a rough one, cause she didn't care about any one gender, so she said both genders because she wanted to fit in with everyone. She needed to, to survive in this village.

Roku didn’t understand what was the purpose of this class set up, she had only been told she graduated and had been lead into to this building and ultimately this classroom. She didn’t pay no mind to anyone else who would be in this room, or really who entered afterwards. It was only until she head the loud bang of the door being forced open did she stand at attention waiting for him to make his way to the front of the classroom before comfortly letting herself sit down into her seat.

This young child would have been wearing a thicker jacket as well as an oversized scarf tightly wrapped around her neck and chin. As for headwear, she’d be wearing a large cap being said her to cover a part of her upper forehead. As so she had many things to feel out of touch with the rest of the students; be it from fashion sense or by the fact she was the single person to be standing. Though rather than voicing anything she’d make her way back down into her seat once the man in front of her made it to the front of the class.

The rules were rather simple, no talking unless spoken too. Those were rules she grew up with, with only intrigued her even further about her teacher. While he was proceeding with the rest of his introduction, Roku was busy studying his features. Where she was raised and trained she has never seen anyone like himself, everyone had something odd about them. Be it the clan they were from, sharp teeth, or animal appendages, but she had never seen someone with their entire skin enhanced in such a way. She was impressed to say in the least, and curious though to ask someone their secrets especially in this field.

The sound of another brought her attention to the other students within the room. It seemed that the other had stood up for answering the questions he had thrown at them. She was quick about it, then again so would Roku if she wasn’t so absorbed by the teacher. Once she sat back down, Roku would slowly lift herself up into a stand as well, making sure to remove the scarf from her face as to speak clearly.

”Roku (6), eight years old, and I was never given an exam upon entering this institution today.” She’d sit down and look over towards the other a bit intrigued, they were given both a number and a name. She hadn’t seen this person within her own institution, however they doesn’t mean there can’t be other groups and organizations. The slang completely flying over her head.

Airi was unsure as to why she had been asked to come to this classroom. She figured it was probably a course for kids who were not doing too well but the teacher who told her to come made no indication as to what it was about. Confused but not about to disobey a direct order she nodded and now she was walking into the room. There were a number of people here, greater than she was initially expecting. She tried to keep her face blank but more than likely gave away that she was nervous. She put her bag on the floor and made sure to put her jacket on the chair behind her. If nothing else in her life she was punctual. She sat down and merely waited for the class to start.

The sudden smashing of the door opening caused her to panic and get her heart racing. The guy who came in was nothing like she had seen before. He looked incredibly tough. She placed a hand over her chest trying to recover her breathing. She heard the rules plain as day, very simple and very easy. Considering she felt like she did not know anyone in her general area and the fact she was not about to start looking behind herself made it clear she would focus. She thought to herself how she really needed to stop sitting in the front.

Apparently we were not going to be staying here long.

Airi began to stand when she felt right and spoke softly, “M-M-my name is I-Ire Airi…I-umm…have an affinity for water…oh…and I am eleven years old.” She had been at the academy for four months now but she lack confidence. This guy was super scary, she noticed the other people did not stutter and she mentally felt like she needed to pull it together. She was also beginning to realize she was one of the older children…only made it worse really.

She sat back down quickly and tried to keep up with the names that were being thrown around.

Ōrudo's jaw tightening and subsequently the rest of his face tightening at the reactions of the children was...well...noticeable. It wasn't anger such as was exhibited as he entered the room. This was closer to exasperation. Ōrudo could count on one woodcutter's hand how many classes he had met that he had any confidence whatsoever in and this class was not off to the best start. Right off the bat, the first one of them to speak up for some reason thought he was actually expecting an answer about her orientation while simultaneously seeming to outright not understand the question, which was honestly pretty fair for a nine year old, but whether or not it was fair was pretty irrelevant to Ōrudo. The next hadn't even done her paper test yet, which Ōrudo thought was typically done before they even got to the academy since it required next to nothing to accomplish short of sticking a piece of paper into their hands. Also who named their kid a number? The the final one sounded like she was barely staving off wetting herself as she stammered out her introduction. Yes, Ōrudo's face got rather tight.

"Great, now you know each other. Get used to your classmates, you'll be seeing them a lot moving forward. Now get up and come with me. There's an entry test for you guys you need to pass before I'm officially stuck with you little demons."

Ōrudo swept out of the class room as if there was a foul stench he was attempting to flee from and he led the students, assuming they decided to keep up, out of the class room and out on to the school grounds. The group would cut through the other facilities, Ōrudo never slowing long enough for the children behind him to really take in what the other students were doing before cutting across into a run-down looking dirt path. The group would follow that path for a few hundred meters, weaving through a now thickening growth of weeds and trees before their destination came in to view. Erecting itself through the overgrowth, the group would come upon what looked like an old dojo, seemingly as run-down as the path they took to get here.

"In."

Ōrudo motioned for them to follow him as he pulled open the door and led the group in to a wide, square room as he took a position on the opposite wall, motioning for them to stand in the middle of the room, his body language not offering much room for debate, before he started speaking once again.

"Another fun little exercise. This is a hard life, whether your chose it or not. Kunai are sharp, you're going to be in danger. You're destined to be shinobi, so following that destiny, what do you think is the most important thing to prevent being stabbed? What is the most important thing for being a Shinobi?"

The fact that they were called little demons bothered her slightly. She would never even hint to saying that, especially not to their teacher. Considering how season he looked she felt like he could crush them at the moment they disobeyed him. They were told that they should get to know one another since they might be together a while. Airi was actually pretty excited about that part, after all she really could use comrades to fight next to. Knowing her luck they were all about to be thrown into a ring against each other or something. At the concept of an entry test Airi grew concerned, she had passed a test to get into the school but now four months in she had to take another test? She felt herself growing very worried. Not that classes would not have traditional test but this one felt rushed, impromptu, and usual for a traditional class.

The man moved so quickly that she felt caught off guard. She decided she would leave her coat and bag behind. There was nothing of extreme value in them anyway. She took off at a normal walk at first only to realize that their teacher was moving fast. She decided she needed to start moving at a decent jog just to manage. Cutting through the school she felt like she was barely even aware of her surroundings as they went, her sole focus to not losing this man. If she got lost she was going to be a failure of a shinobi anyway.

They eventually came to the forest and as they moved through it they would come to see an old training facility of some kind. Airi hesitated going forward until their teacher said simply to go in. She nodded and made her way in without wasting any more time. Before going in she glanced around just to see that the others had made it as well. Knowing how terrible she was they probably had no trouble at all making it here.

They were moved into the middle of the room, the place she always least liked to be. She always moved around walls since they offered safety and meant that no one would ever run into her. She normally liked being out of the way. As such she shivered lightly when he started to speak.

She felt herself look confused. The most important thing she felt like she could do to not get stabbed was to simply not be seen. No one can hurt you if they do not know where you are. As such she spoke but with confidence this time. “N-Never be seen and never let your guard down!” If she said it like a question she felt like she would get in trouble. Upon her being in the room though…she worried. This seemed like a trap in and of itself. They follow him because he told them to. Both of those things she just said they failed.

She looked around the room even the floors and ceilings trying to suddenly see if they were in danger. If they were she needed to make sure her classmates got away as well. She wanted to make sure everyone was safe and right now…she did not feel very safe.

"Great, now you know each other. Get used to your classmates, you'll be seeing them a lot moving forward. Now get up and come with me. There's an entry test for you guys you need to pass before I'm officially stuck with you little demons."

Confusion swept across the other's face before she went back to paying attention to every detail. It was very important to follow his exact words, especially since she wasn't given permission to speak out of order. Though she did wish why she would need to work with the other two, one seemed way older than her, and the first must have been apart of a different raising facility, never did they need to work together, but just out last them. It was a foreign concept to her.

The moment their new master begun to move did Roku leap onto her feet and swiftly try to follow behind him, even willing to jump over the desk in front of her if it meant to by pass the other two in the classroom. Only catching a glimpse of he older one leaving their stuff behind as she passed, fortunately for her she only came to this academy with the clothes on her back so she didn't have any valuables. Roku was used to chasing others, or hunting down small animals so the pace they were traveling was something she could easily follow up behind, being sure to keep a close watch on her masters back while still taking the precious few seconds to check their surroundings. Then again she never did care of the other students were doing, distractions such as that will only hold you back.

The trek was unsurprisingly a tad different if you didn't know or understand the surrounding area, however she was making sure to watch their master close enough to try and copy some of the stuff he was doing to get through it all. Once the building came into view, Roku would pause momentarily, being warily of actually entering inside; that was until she heard the instructions from her master. A quick glance to him and then the entrance was all the delay she needed before marching on inside of the building, taking a place right in the middle as he gestured the group to do so.

"Another fun little exercise. This is a hard life, whether your chose it or not. Kunai are sharp, you're going to be in danger. You're destined to be shinobi, so following that destiny, what do you think is the most important thing to prevent being stabbed? What is the most important thing for being a Shinobi?"

If she really had to think it would be not getting hit in the first place, the capabilities of dodging are extremely important but some people are even strong enough to endure injuries and still persevere. She was about to open her mouth as she heard the far more timid voice manage to speak up, “N-Never be seen and never let your guard down!”

It left for a small pause again from the other as she was actually taking in what she was saying, the ability to dodge and the ability to hide both resulted in the same thing. Though ultimately if the enemy before you is taken out then there is no need for the two. Even if you can keep dodging, and if you can keep hiding the threat still is there, "Dodging is a valuable skill, but so is being able to perform take downs. Run and hide all you want, the threat will still come to get you in the end."

Did he just slur the girl with the horn? She'd shake her head of those thoughts, as funny as they accidentally where. Either way he moved with purpose, which meant she did too. The other 2 filed out, one flustered and the other in a copycat like manner, she obviously idolized the powerful man, and who wouldn't considering he was so tough and straight forward, he demanded respect. She'd fake respect for him, but she didn't care either way. She skipped happily behind the two, giggling with glee as she was able to take a much more clear picture of her surroundings, she was pretty used to moving fast so it wasn't a big deal for her. Her weakness lied in her raw strength, she probably wasn't going to arm wrestle any of the other students here. They moved quickly to what appeared to be an old abandoned dojo, she'd remember this place for the future, a good place to be alone when this man wasn't training her. He gave a simple order, go in. The other two walked in and she followed suite, taking a quick glance around. She'd follow them into the middle of the room and take a defense stance, he was exposing us for a reason, probably a reflex test.

"Another fun little exercise. This is a hard life, whether your chose it or not. Kunai are sharp, you're going to be in danger. You're destined to be shinobi, so following that destiny, what do you think is the most important thing to prevent being stabbed? What is the most important thing for being a Shinobi?"

The others answered, one was unsure of herself and answered as if she was asking a question, the other took a crap on her opinion with her own. It was her turn to answer, she gave a small look at the other two, shifted her gaze down for a moment and then snapped her fingers, looking up to the teacher to speak.

"I think they're both right. Hiding exclusively shows cowardice, but keeps you alive even if it means they don't die either. It's a good tactic for escaping, and is a solution as it means you recognize your limitations and can decide when to dip and when not to. Being able to fight is also valuable as the mean one says, but your fat ego will get you killed if you think every opponent you run across can be beaten. So together, in the middle ground somewhere is the answer. A mixture of defense and offense, that's the answer."

A small grin formed beneath the brim of that hat as the children chained their answers together. It was amusing. They took him a little too literally, but he supposed they focused more on the 'not getting stabbed' part of the question and less on the 'what's most important' part. Then again, maybe they ultimately considered not getting stabbed to actually be the most important thing. Either way, what brought a small grin to his lips was that they didn't answer as if they were islands. They took what the other said and then built upon it. Being able to take the information from another person or entity and expand upon it to make it your own wasn't just an important skill for being a shinobi, it was an important skill for being human. Whether they realized it or not, they already had one of the quintessential skills for becoming stronger. Maybe they wouldn't be a waste of time after all. One of them was even pretty close to the answer Ōrudo was looking for, yet simultaneously quite far away.

"Interesting, let's find out if any of you were right."

Ōrudo formed a single seal and the genjutsu faded away. Irie would notice it first, as she was the one frantically searching the room around them for where an attack was coming from, which was smart if a little sad. Ōrudo wasn't used to seeing children, even Shinobi children, being that paranoid and reminiscent of a frightened shrew, but her instincts were solid at least. The other kids would notice it soon enough all the same. All around them, large parts of the floor had completed vanished, as if it puffed up into smoke and they'd notice they were standing on a large, raised, earthen platform with a small tendril of ground snaking back toward the door, the path they had walked on.

Mere milliseconds of time was afforded them to recognize their situation before the next seal formed and the ground around them was no more stable than the illusory floor they watched vanished. The earth around them began to crumble in record speed, first turning to mush beneath their feet and then plummeting down the massive hole that was once the room. If they tried to escape their trap, either through frantically scrabbling toward the edge or attempting to latch on with some form of grappling hook, anywhere they stepped they'd find crumbling just as easily, dooming them to their fall.

At the bottom of the pit, roughly a fifteen foot drop, the trio would land on a combination of the loose dirt they were just standing on in addition to the natural loose soil that had been there a long with a few loose bushels of hay spread out to ensure a more cushioned landing and some moss growing on what looked like much older and hardened soil, presumably from the last time Ōrudo used this trick. It wasn't going to be an especially soft landing, but they should be spared anything more grievous than a bruise. Ōrudo's head peaked over the side of the pit, calling down to them.

"The exit is down there somewhere. Make it back to the surface and your training can officially start. Try not to die, it doesn't get much ventilation down there and smells can linger a reeeeeallly long time. Good luck kiddos."

With a clap of his hands, thick layers of earth would peel off the side and form a sturdy roof over their heads, cutting off any attempt to climb back up the pit and shutting the children off in total darkness. If any of the children were especially astute before their light source was cut off, they would notice three packs braced against a nearby wall. Inside each pack were two signal flares, a bottle of binding agent, and a medical kit.

If the children used one of the flares or found another means to generate a light source for the room, or just happened to notice before the lights were blocked out, they would find themselves in a square room with three doors leading out of it, each distinctly ringed with a different color, one blue, one red, and one yellow.

How would they escape?

Med Kit
Binding Agent
Signal Flare

For the purposes of this thread, as this obviously isn't a b.mod:
  • The med kit can be used to splint a limb or stitch a cut if you manage to get yourself or someone else injured on this little training exercise but is expended once used.
  • The binding agent can effectively be used as a glue to adhere virtually any object to another. Use this within reason, I'm not going to put a finite amount here but you obviously don't have enough to slather an entire wall and make hay and dirt collage.
  • Each signal flare can be set aflame to light a room for two posts if used by itself. Keep in mind you have no idea how many rooms are down here.
I'll mostly be playing a pseudo-dm role here going forward for the training exercise, be creative to get yourself over the obstacles. Good luck guys!

"Dodging is a valuable skill, but so is being able to perform takedowns. Run and hide all you want, the threat will still come to get you in the end."

Airi flinched when she said that. Oh...yea...she thought to herself. I guess that makes sense considering we do have to be able to...end...someone eventually. She shivered at that concept. She really never wanted to end anyone, but that was a small dream no was it not? Still the girl clearly knew more about what being a shinobi was than her so she could not help but at least accept the answer as possible.

“Hiding exclusively shows cowardice”

She felt that slap her in the back of her head. Yea...maybe I am! She wanted to say but she could not bring herself to. The rest of what she said sounded better but she could not help feel like it was a backhanded compliment. She did manage to meld the two answers together and while she was a bit annoyed...her answer did sound the best. They needed to balance everything to be the best they could be. Both offense and defense.

As she looked around the teacher responded with wondering if they were indeed right. As she looked around she noticed that things seemed off. She had no idea what was coming but the only thing she knew was that they were in danger. She reach out to the other two and only got out, “Careful Mo…!” Alas though she was far too slow. If she had acted then maybe she could have gotten the other two out of falling but words and gentleness did not save people.

As the ground puffed away from them. She fell without any means of trying to save herself. She fell for what felt like forever before eventually landing roughly into...something? “Urmph…!” When she hit the floor she laid there and did not even bother to look around. It was stupid of her considering what came next but she did not expect it.

Something about the exit being somewhere and then darkness. “No, wait!” She felt muffled and then realized that her eyes were not closed. She felt around and said, “Umm...hello wait, guys are you okay! Yui-san? Roku-san?” She was concerned but then decided to say.

“Umm...I have healing jutsu if you need any? That fall was really bad…” She hoped they were there. She was mainly talking to fill the void. Thankfully she did not actually have any issues with being in the dark.

"Interesting, let's find out if any of you were right."

The moment Roku heard such words come out from his mouth she instantly got tense and positioned herself as if she was going to get into a battle. She wasn't expecting him to take out the floor beneath them, that was until she heard the small voice of Irie, “Careful Mo…!”. Because of how she was already the moment she felt any sort of give underneath her feet she just assumed it was from the other and would jump backwards to maybe create some distance and time for her to find a weapon of her own, but also to get out from the radius of the crumbling floor. It was all for naught, seeing how the teacher thought ahead, any bit she managed to grab a hold would too just crumble forcing her to fall down into the pits with the others. She was bracing herself for something dangerous, maybe spikes, maybe snakes, maybe just the hard ground below. Her hands doing their best to grip on anything down the way but she was pleasantly surprised to find that it was soft. Did the collapsed dirt cushion their fall? Just by shifting in it she'd be able to feel some hay underneath and realize that this was set up to be softer. In conceivable.

Now she was stuck here she had to look for a weapon. He could jump down at any moment and attack us, or even start throwing projectiles down. Roku eyes were scanning the area for anyone and would lock down onto some backs that were just waiting inside of the room, slightly covered by dirt so they could have easily been missed. Once she saw that head peek out from the edge, her body would instantly press into the wall like a cornered animal, everything didn't make sense to her. he offered no weapons, but instead words of advice and of course pitch blackness. It almost seemed like he knew we would just climb up if we could have.

“No, wait!” She'd turn her head in that direction, but would start making her way over towards the bags, grabbing one of them after dusting it off. It wasn't until she heard the softer voice start to call for the two of them in a panic did Roku finally speak up and move towards the voice. At first she'd just reach for the other, trying to place a hand down on where she thought her head would be and if she caught a hold of something just attempt to move her dirty hand up to where it should be and shake it a bit. "I'm fine. Heal yourself if you're injured.. She'd pause for a moment before trying to pick the other up by her head, "I found supplies over here..

If the other would get up, she'd d her best to lure her over to where the other bags were, often being taken back by the unevenness of the ground, or wander just a bit longer because she was still slightly disoriented in the dark.

He spoke little, and then the action started. One of them yelled out, and as all three of them began to sink she had a burst of adrenaline, the fight or flight body reaction made everything slow down, it was a common thing to happen for her. She was able to see the genjutsu drop in slow motion, both girls crumbling into the ground in slow motion. The world around her was running through honey. She began to sink, and in her attempt to fight she dashed toward the edge of the pit. She wouldn't make it, the floor below her was much more soft than her speed would allow, she was no jesus lizard. As the floor crumbled below and they both fell, she got a good look at the hole, Packs on the wall, some doors, and a soft landing. She however, didn't quite have the body discipline to stop herself from what was to come, and she reached out, nails digging into the side of the wall. She had almost made it, but her hands dragged down the side to a stop at the bottom, the wall shifting and kicking her fingers out before healing up and closing them in. Her hands where fine, they were her hunting instrument, they could smash through the finest armors. She had an idea where the packs where though, and made straight for them while the other collected themselves and spoke out. She grabbed one, and opened it, shuffling through with her hands. She felt something long and cylindrical. Fumbling with it briefly, she managed to find the ignition cap and popped it above her head, creating a light source.

"I saw doors over here..."

She stated plainly, moving toward the colored doors hoping they'll follow behind her to them.

"I'm not sure if we're suppose to go all into one, or one per door, but either way I'm going in this one..." she said, trying to open and walk through the red door. It was her favorite color, if she was to have a color.

Ōrudo walked his achey bones over to a nearby chair and set himself down in it before bringing his shoes up to his chest and relieving his feet of them. With a pronounced wiggle, the man set his now bare foot down on the cool earth below him and quickly followed suit with its partner. He'd keep tabs on them with his tremor sense, but he wasn't in any rush to assist the little buggers, this was something they were going to have to figure out on their own and, based on how quickly the three of them seemed to react to getting dropped into a hole, Ōrudo figured he didn't have too too much to worry about.

As Yui ignited the flare, the room they were in would come in to sharper focus, the multi-colored doors vibrantly revealed in the faint light amidst the debris and sediment strewn all around them from the collapsed in floor, as well as clearly revealing the contents of the bags they were carrying. Presuming Yui went straight for the red door without much in the way of hesitation, she'd filter out of said door in to a straight, narrow corridor. Lining the walls were unlit, unkempt torches accompanied by the customary spider webs, between them and the walls, giving the red corridor a very rundown, derelict look to it. Even the ground itself beneath Yui's feet seemed to protest with every step taken upon it, as if it simply couldn't handle the tiny weight of the girl. At the end of the hall, Yui would find an equally decrepit looking wooden door. Should she push through it, she would find it emptied out in to a large, circular room with roughly eighteen feet of clearance over head and about thirty feet in diameter. On the other side of the room opposite Yui, she'd find a large door with a very ornate looking key hole. The room itself seemed fairly non-descript, just a circular room, but the most noticeably thing, and what probably should have been described first, was what was inside the room.

In the dead center of the room was what looked, at the start, like a gigantic bear. A mountain of fur, blubber, and muscle was lying on the floor, it's body heaving slightly from its breath as it lay across the cool stone floor. It seemed to have been sleeping and still was, but the shifting and tremors from Ōrudo's manipulation of the ground seemed to have made the creature's sleep a restless one. In the gleam of Yui's light, a momentary sparkle of light would catch the eye. Looped around the creature's neck on a string was what looked like an especially ornate key, matching a similarly ornate keyhole barring the only exit available in the room.

If either of Irie or Roku would choose to follow Yui, they would see the same scene unfolding for Yui while two more doors remained unpillaged, the choice remaining for the pair.

Roku was surprised to hear the other speak, doors? She'd look around as if her eyes would adjust in the darkness, but whatever she was able to see was probably her mind playing tricks on her or her brain trying it's best to make up shapes to what would logically make sense in this pitch darkness. It almost came as a blinding joke to suddenly see the bright flare, so much so she had to shield her eyes from the light at first. After a couple of blinks she'd finally let go of the healer and rubbed her eyes, once her eyes now readjusted to the light she'd look down to her bag. She had to check it quick, she didn't know how long these flares would last for but she doubt they would be indefinite.

She was keeping note of every item, there was another cylindrical item much like the flare in her own pack, a medical kit unfortunately making our healer less valuable till he get hurt the second time, and something strange. From the sensation it was sticky perhaps she could use it to bind stuff. Though while she was examining the items it seemed the louder one decided to just go ahead and pick a room. It was smart, and it was the room she was going to pick from the get go, thus making her believe that the middle room would be something anyone would pick thus making it much more dangerous.

Before the light completely faded out from them with the girl entering into the door way too far, Roku would check out the other two doors, her head turning towards the yellow left door first and then the right blue one. People will more likely gravitate to the hand they are most dominate, so trying to think like her master he'd probably put a trap on the right side thinking we'd all go that way. So if the middle was no good she'd go towards the left. After making her choice she'd make her way to follow the mid path however, the loose dirt underneath didn't make the path eel very safe. It was almost like the ground underneath her would give way to pit underneath, something she didn't want to wear down for their ally on the other side. So for their safety she'd slowly back out from it.

"Careful.. the ground feels off.." Her voice would be aimed towards the other ninja if she hadn't already taken off by this point, and without the light they had before she'd guide her hand long the doorway to find the door on the left hand side. From there she'd take a few steps back and attempt to gather up some dirt and hay that they handed on. She was worried about using her flare too early and needing it later, so by patting the dirt down onto the ground and making a ring; she'd lay down the hay and used her flare upon the hay hoping it was dry enough to maybe set fire. If after a couple attempts, or she finally caught it on fire would she turn back to the door and head on in. She wanted to have a light to bring her back to the room and also not leave their medic behind in darkness.

Airi was lost in darkness, she always kept a light on somewhere in her home. Some shinobi...thankfully she felt a hand which she panicked at first until she was just told to heal herself. Well at least thankfully no one was hurt then. Airi made sure she would grab a pack with the help of Roku.

Her eyes flinched as the flare was suddenly lite up. She figured they might have wanted to wait to go forward and use one but her party members were very quick to progress. Shinobi should be action oriented afterall. She was moving way too slow when it came to this. She decided that getting lost and separated was a terrible idea she followed quickly.

By the time she caught up the leader type girl had already picked a door. She thought maybe they should all go together and put it to a vote or something...guess not.

As Airi was following Roku she noticed there was a bit of hesitation from her. She informed Airi to be careful and that the ground was really loose. It would be bad if it broke down while their ally was on the other side. She nodded to Roku.

The other moved with efficiency she attempted to start a fire and Airi should have voice up. She could have used a jutsu to help start the fire...though it looked like Roku was very determined to make things work so Airi just waited and watched. Finally looking at Roku with a smile, hopefully making her feel better despite their situation she noticed Roku was heading on through the yellow door.

Well...she was going to be alone.

She figured without saying anything the two must have just assumed everyone was competent and as such were going to divide the three pathways and meet back up. She gulped a bit and knew that the others and the teacher would most likely look down on her for waiting to make sure the others were okay.

Without a word she decided she would head to the blue door since it was the last one not being picked. Hopefully, this was not a bad choice. Then again if she really wanted a choice she should have simply made a decision quicker right? If possible she would try to take a piece of burning wood with her. So that way she would be able to keep her flare for when she really needed it.

It was perpetually curious. They were not instructed to separate and split up and logically, it made the most sense to stick together, pool their limited skills, and cooperate to overcome the trials. But no, they saw three doors and assumed each one was for one of them. Never entertaining that one might be a dead end, one might not lead to the destination, or that one might just kill them outright. It was the same fun little principle where if you stick students in a class room, they will always gravitate toward sitting where they sat the day before. He'd have to break them of that.

The first thing Roku would notice is that she was more right than she thought she would be. While she was taking extra special care to mind her feet and it would afford her a few extra breaths of time to react, she would hear a quick click and then quickly find herself sliding downward. The ground in front of her was tapering off and down, shifting under her feet and in to a make shift slide. She could try to brace herself along the wall probably successfully, bu the path before her itself was now tapering down, deeper and deeper into the ground. Sliding or walking laborously, Roku would eventually be deposited after her descending sliding corridor and in to a large, cavernous room. She would first hear the sound of running water, an underground stream, and then she would see the widening expanse before her. Anything that might have been a path was worn away. Large chasms existed where now eroded earth once stood, creating a fragmented path that led toward the source of that running water. Pooling into a large underground lake was a massive waterfall crashing violently down into the lake below. If her eyes wandered up the length of the waterfall, she'd notice a small light, one that should not exist in the cavern, a man-made torch, indicating where her way out of the cavern laid. She would have to try and climb the waterfall cliff if she hoped to escape...

Irie found herself in a considerably different situation than the others. As she walked down the blue corridor, she wouldn't be accosted by rampaging bear monsters or be upended by a disobedient floor. No, instead she had a fairly leisurely jaunt down the narrow corridor before coming upon a round, circular room. Cut out in the center of the room was a perfect circle, roughly twenty feet long in diameter and filled, seemingly, to the brim with a crystal clear liquid that, for all intents and purposes, appeared to be water. There were no entrances and exits to the room outside of the one that Irie herself came in. Resting on top of the water however was a small dinghy roughly two meters long and a few feet wide, floating innocently in the pool well a small pier leading out to the tiny vessel. Inside the boat, Irie would find two benches, one free and clear and another with very distinct, almost stylized writing carved into it. Upon closer inspection, Irie would be able to make out the words:

'A rope ladder is hanging down over the starboard side of a ship anchored in port. The bottom rung of the rope ladder splashes into the water, lingering just on surface. The distance between rungs is twenty centimeters, and the length of the ladder is nine feet. If the tide is rising at a rate of six inches per hour, how long will it be before the water reaches the top rung?'

Below the text, Irie would find a carving knife embedded into the seat beside a large, carved line in across the wooden seat, indicating where she should put her answer and signifying that any stroke of her knife was going to require effort and thought. She might not get her stroke back.

So going in to the next segment, so you guys can use this for this week's tutor(Or wait till monday to get double the points on it, I don't care much either way), we'll be starting a new thread for each of your individual paths. Yui, we'll keep using this one if you get a chance to keep posting and for Irie and Roku, you'll post once more here and when you do, I'll set up the thread for your part two. Let me know if you have any questions about how to claim your class credit when you finish or questions in general. Great job so far guys.

She was able to see torches on the wall, so it seems prudent to light them as she went, if her flare ran out it'd also be prudent to pick one up and carry with her. Flares never really lasted long, so by the time she saw the bear she'd be sporting an old torch, it probably wouldn't last long either. She needed to make a snap judgement, she saw the bear was awake and she saw it had a key, but she also had crappy footing. So she concentrated chakra into her feet and stepped up above the crap floor. She had done it on top of snow before to keep it pristine as she found calm in the lack of chaos, so it might work here.

Now that she had a decent footing, she would need to make a solid opening strike, something to automatically doom the bear. So she rushed it, and a streak of light traced behind her as the torch tried its best to stay lit. She stopped right within swiping range of the bear and tossed the torch in the air. Creatures followed the most see-able movement, it's what made being a pickpocket growing up so easy, all she had to do was throw a firecracker somewhere and she had their wallets. As it's eyes tracked the light, and it possibly made a lunge for the fire it assumes is attached to the girl, she'd cut the necklace with her sharp nails, catch the key and do a power slide through the bottom of the now standing bear, running out the other side to the door where she would fumble with the key and the lock in the dark, coming out the other side of the door and hopefully into something brighter. If not, she's have to spark another flare to see where she was going.

She could have mutilated and killed the creature, but the teacher put them down here, and so it was probably his and she would get in big trouble, possibly expelled for doing something so rash. If she could see the flare wouldn't be necessary, otherwise she was down to her last one. She only hoped what was ahead wasn't as intense. She managed to avoid that bear using her small frame, but if she had to fight it head on it would probably take her down. Her light feet, and ability to dodge is what was carrying her through here.

Airi was nervous as she made her way down the hallway. Since she was alone in her perspective she talked to herself to keep her nerves down. “Why did we have to separate?” She could feel the others were capable...no one really said anything though. It is not like they were leaders or anything. No one took charge and as such she just followed the way things were. “I wish we were still together…”

She continued to walk eventually coming to a round circular room. She hesitated but eventually peered into it. She needed to progress. If she showed up late then the others would be upset with her. Airi was surprised at what she saw. She saw that there seemed no real way out of the room except for the fact that there was a small boat and pier. She felt herself blush slightly… “I’ve always loved boats…”

She wanted to run forward giggling but as she looked around she took her hands and clapped her face. “Focus...danger…”

As she made her way along the pier she watched carefully waiting for the pier to collapse. As she went though...nothing happened. She decided to take out a shuriken and drop it into the water. She just knew there had to be something going on. After investigating if anything happened to the shuriken she made her way onto the boat.

As she looked at the ornately written sentence she commented, “Sensei has lovely handwriting...I need to ask him for lessons.” Her eyes traced the writing quickly. Considering her trips to the library and just her general liking of books her reading speed had increased to decent degree.

She put a hand to her chin and looked around. Shinobi do not care for mathematics...at least not to this degree. She would need to know how to throw and estimate things but only poisons really cared about mathematics.

“Okay let's think here a moment.” A boat is anchored at port...someone moves a rope ladder out the side and it splashes onto the top of the water...twenty...nine...six…

“No way…” She just thought...well…

Airi picked up the knife and looked at it. She had never used a knife to etch into wood and imagined it would take way to long but maybe this knife was special. As she looked up at the roof she knew she was not supposed to be smart about things…

“Unless there is something missing...or an outside force comes out…” It must be…

She started to crave in the word never. Unless something knocks the boat over or someone throws the rope or something there should never be a chance of the boat sinking and the top of the ladder getting wet.

It was a clever tactic, the bear was just now waking up to the approaching child and even hyper alert murder machines still needed a few moments to get their faculties when jarred open from a deep sleep. The creature did exactly as little Yui expected it to. It jolted to a start as she bolted into the room and immediately saw the two sources of light and its actions reflected that. With a bellowing roar, the bear launched itself up off the floor, reaching it's front paws up before furiously slamming them down at the lights attacking it. The paws crashed into the flare and torch respectively, knocking them clear from Yui's hands, but she didn't seem to care all that much about that as she deftly cleaved the key from the bear's mane and bolted toward the door. The bear, still seeming to gain its bearings and realizing it hadn't killed the thing that dared to come into its home, slowly turned around to stare at the small creature fumbling with the lock at the other end of the room, it's dead, yellow eyes gleaming ferociously in the torch light.

As Yui closed the door behind her, she'd find herself in a long lit corridor that, at the end, broke off in to three paths. Diverging off into a three-pronged exit, the corridors leading off to her left and right were both narrow, fit for maybe two of the kunoichi's body widths between them and a center path that definitely did not want for space, being the same size as the wide hallway the girl currently found herself in. If she took a breath, she'd catch faint hints of a citrus smell to her left and what almost smelled like a dead skunk to her right, but both smells were drowned out heavily by what smelled like chlorine ahead of her. Before she had too much time to ponder these scents however, a loud crash punched through the air around her and, lodged in the door was a very distinct imprint of a bear paw, the creature being far stronger than it should have been and fairly determined not to let Yui get away with her theft. Another impact rang out soon after, the door was not going to last long.

The sensation of the ground shifting underneath her would instantly cause her to try and reach for the doorway but to no avail, due to her trying to bounce off with her back foot it would just slip under her from the dirt and now slope taking her down to whatever the bottom was. Rather than screaming down the way and getting more panicked she'd instead try to position herself to at least have more control and keep a watchful eye to her surroundings which by the end looked to be a long cavern. Once her foot touch the flat ground the momentum of the sliding would cause her to stumble forward slightly but thankfully not anywhere in the stream, from here he'd look around for any possible escapes while keeping a mindful glance to her flare. She only recently used it but as far as she could tell it could go out in any second if she's not careful.

She couldn't understand how something like this could be found underground, but seeing how she went further down and the roof seemed to be the endless pitch black of BEING still underground she was going to need to accept this reality. Carefully and cautiously making her way towards the source of the river by following it upstream, she would hopefully make her way over to the waterfall. Instantly she'd notice the light, any light outside of her flare is a godsend at this point meaning she needed to get up this waterfall to make it to it. Though after getting closer she was able to see some ridges in which she could use for climbing though all were wet by now with her back sac weighing her down and a flare in hand it would make ascending this much more difficult with the chance of getting her flare wet and making it useless. After thinking over her possibilities she'd recall the sticky substance from earlier and looked for a near by wall which wasn't getting wet by the waterfall, from there she'd stick the flare up so that she could still see while climbing up. Once she set everything up she'd make her back over to the waterfall and do her best to grab on some of the wall directly beside it so she wouldn't get instantly swept away by the current, doing her best to climb up as high as she could go before needed to get closer and closer to the water to reach that other light source.
