Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Asuka stood about a mile out of the Hokage rock, she was simply sitting on a tree branch that looked straight out into the village. Although it was a bit off, the clear whether helped to have a clear view of the village. She liked being in this sort of places, watching over the village in a quiet place, staring into the sky for hours on end but.... unfortunately this wasn't one of those days.

She had seen that new students had joined the block and as it was her policy to stay attuned to everything that was going on in her branch, meeting the new students, hopefully going into Shinobi, and helping them with their studies was a must. Under her rule, no one would be left out, everyone would have the same chance on becoming succesfull. No matter status or limitations. If she had to, she would do the classes herself. This was one of those cases.

She had sent a summoning to the respective students via a small note, hidden either in their pockets, books, wherever it may be. With a smile she breathed the clean air deeply and waited for her students. They would learn, they would grow. The better they became, the better the village would be

Kei discovered the paper in her back jean pocket as she was about to hand her mum the remaining changes for her grocery. To be able to do so without her discovering them meant that they were skilfull enough to erase their presence to approach her. The content of the paper summoned her towards the hokage rock and it intrigued her slightly. She had never received any paper note before, be it one of romantic interest like a confession or one that challenged her into a fight behind the school.

Unsure what to make of it, the girl decided to bring her bokken along with her just in case. With her wooden practice sword safely tucked inside her swordbelt, the girl made her way to Hokage rocks. As always, Kei had dressed rather lightly in just her camisole and jeans though she wished she had worn a jumper instead as chilly breeze welcomed her as she approached the peak. The girl immediately wrapped her arm around herself for warmth, hoping that she would not have stayed here for too long.

Once Kei had arrived at the designated location, the girl took out the note despite having read the content multiple times to make sure she didn't miss anything. Satisfied, the girl slipped back the paper inside her pockets and instead focused on the scenery of the village before her. The view was quite breathtaking and for the moment she pushed back the thought of why she was summoned here in first place.

"Wonder if I can see my house from up here?" She asked no one in particular, as she lifted the palm of her hand parallel to her eyebrows and strained her eyes. So engrossed she was on the view that she paid little attention to her immediate surrounding.

Eagerly gripping the bindings of her art book and prying the tome open to the place she marked with her fan-shaped bookmark, she failed to restrain her startled “eek” when a foreign object fell out of it. Thankfully no customers dwelt within the store she helped her uncle maintain, minimal as her participation was, because they closed early. For the very same reason, her uncle was out, and she counted her blessings that nobody seemed to hear her exclamation. Placing a hand over her heart and sighing, she picked up the note that slipped free of her current choice of reading material.

Eyes widening in surprise after gleaning the context of the note, she derived that she was being summoned to a certain location. The discreet method did scare her, but when she ran it back through her mind, she surmised that she did live in a village with emphasis on subtlety as part as the majority profession. Feeling both a little unnerved but at the same time allured by the mysteriousness and urgency of the summoning, she decided that she would leave a note of her own for her uncle, throwing together an alibi that was a mix of having to go purchase rice and get some training in while she was at it. In her mind, she was en route to something top secret.

Fantasizing the entire way about the purpose of her calling, she eventually arrived at the designated location. While her feet were sore and a small film of perspiration had formed on her forehead from the great deal of walking she endured, she was caught up in excitement about the entire ordeal. She wore a black, sleeveless haori emblazoned with the Uchiha symbol on the left side of its front over a red and white tunic. Choosing to wear bandaged shorts and knee-length sandal boots despite the weather, her exertion seemed to, for now, stave off most of the repercussions.

Another girl was in plain view, drinking in the magnificent view over the village. Recognizing the redhead as Nanjirou Kei, she quickly approached, her eyes wide with shock.

“Kei-san? As much as I love this beautiful view that I really would like to paint, I must ask, were you the one who called me here?”

Asuka breathed in the fresh air deeply once more, exhaling a content sigh. Shortly after she started hearing footsteps, getting louder and louder as each second passed. Someone was coming. Looking down at the cliffside she saw who it was. Certain enough, a young girl appeared. Her purple hair was quite interesting, she had never seen that type before. As she looked around she noted that her eyes seemed full of hope. Her comment made her chuckle, maybe she would be able to see her house. Asuka wasn't able to see it though. But, since this wasn't the only one Asuka decided to wait before showing herself.

Sure enough, not long after, the second pipsqueak showed up. Long straight black hair could be seen as she walked closer. Of course, she also noticed the particular pattern on her shirt. Uchiha. Well, a fellow member of the clan. Now she knew who both of this girls were.

She guessed the first one was Nanjirou Kei, Academy Student, 14 years old. Her file spoke of a few things but there wasn't much but from a first impression here movements said that she trained by herself alongside the usual curriculum at the academy. In other words, she had potential.

Of course, Uchiha Masami. 12 years old. Same impression as Kei, potential. Long story short, Asuka would have to make sure these two seeds would be watered and nutured well, make them blossom into beautiful trees. Otherwise it would be a waste. With a smile Asuka dissapeared.

Appearing between the two girls, her Kimono moving against the wind. Her hands held together, kimono sleeves covering them. As she had learned from her training. Back straight, head held high. "If you look far enough you might see it Kei." Asuka smiled, answering Kei's comment.

"And No Masami, I was the one who summoned you here." Asuka nodded to herself. Her tone making it seem all formal and serious. She waited a few moments for the first impression to kick in in their cute little minds. Right before she want back to her usual self.

"I called you here so we all can play some games! In which I like to call training!" She giggled, giving away quite a warm smile. "For you see! I like to meet any new pipsqueaks that come to study at my academy and you two in particular picked my interest a bit." Asuka kept smiling looking at the two of them.

"Oh! Forgot. I'm Uchiha Asuka, sennin of Leaf and the leader of the Main Branch. Which, cause I'm a lucky girl, makes you my pipsqueaks. So, here's what we're going to do! Ask me any questions you have about the Shinobi arts. I'll answer them and even give out demonstrations if possible. Or you can tell me what you would like to learn with the same outcome." Asuka giggled once more, quite excited at the thought of teaching this new students. "I for one am a specialist at Ninjutsu and Genjutsu, with.... a little bit of taijutsu thrown in between."

Kei didn't expect her question to be answered, nor the presence of her recently made acquaintance Masami. Before she can answer the question the girl posed to her, Asuka relieved her of the necessity and she began to turn around to face the one who addressed them both.

The voice belonged to a beauty in her early twenties with straight silver hair and crimson eyes. She had a formal and serious tone to her speech and for a second, Kei wondered if this had something to do with her grades. It was a tone her teacher often used during the meeting with her parents after all.

The girl then reverted to a more casual and friendly way of speaking, informing them of the true purpose of being summoned here. She breathed a sigh of relief after knowing they were here just to train in the form of games. Not that she minded, though the fact that she knew their name and them not knowing hers nearly made her ask her name first. But Asuka beat her to it, introducing not only her name but full rank causing her eyes to widen slightly. Her eyes would drift to Masami a bit, wondering if her friend knew her.

Though she had never met Asuka in person, she definitely knew her by reputation. The girl had stood out not only in the matter of appearance but abilities as well, having heard her from her friends'parents conversation. There was no greater honor in receiving a direct private lesson from such an esteemed person. The Sannin mentioned about being a specialist of ninjutsu and genjutsu before adding taijutsu as an afterthought.

Being addressed as pipsqueaks annoyed her for a bit, she doubted the difference of age between them is that big. Still, she can endure that nickname for now as this was also an opportunity for her to try and improve her Ninjutsu and Genjutsu as she was lacking behind compared to the rest of the class. Heavens know how she managed to capture the eyes of the Sannin in first place with how dreadful her grades are for those two.

"Pleased to meet you Uchiha Masami-san. I shall gladly take that offer." The girl replied with a bow first, before a smile appeared on her lips. "Then can you teach me about Bunshin Jutsu? I'm having trouble with one."

Before the calligraphy practitioner could issue her response to Masami’s question, another individual revealed herself to the two of them. Surprised by the sudden occurrence, the student nearly jumped out of her skin, but managed to suppress her voice unlike the first time she was shocked that day. Though she had only started training not too long ago, she was awestricken that she failed to notice the figure until they appeared before her. It seemed she had a considerable number of things to learn, but those thoughts were of lesser priority while her mind raced about the who, why and when.

Leading with a response to a segment of conversation Masami missed, she wondered what they might have spectated should they look out far enough. Had the crimson-eyed beauty not been the focus of her attention, she might have directed her attention towards the scenic view before them. In moments, she learned that it was not the girl she met the other day who summoned her there, but the enigmatic woman who appeared before them. The tone of voice suggested the matters were just as urgent and grave as she imagined, and her mind started to spin thoughts about what kind of top-secret endeavour they were about to embark upon. Eyes wide, her heart raced in anticipation and mild anxiety.

The feeling of unease dispersed with her next comment—they were called there to play games that served as training. A surge of information came after that, the younger of the student duo blinking like a bewildered deer. Not only did they seem in charge of the academy they attend, but she was a Sennin, the leader of the Main Branch, and even a fellow clanswoman. Hearing that, she did a double take and shook her head just to make sure that she wasn’t dreaming any of this up.

Being stunned provided Kei with the time to pose a question before her, which brought herself back to reality. Pinching herself on the arm, she muttered a small, “No, not dreaming…” to herself before her lips broadened into a smile.

“I-It is a pleasure to meet you, Asuka-sensei! You are an Uchiha, as well? Does that mean we’re related?” Excitement boomed in her voice as she spoke, clasping her hands together as per habit. “You are absolutely beautiful! It would be an honor if you’d ever let me draw you.” Though they may already be aware, Masami needed to point out beauty wherever she saw it; she was quite the fanatical artist, after all, even at her young age.

“Uhm, I have always wanted to learn more about Genjutsu and Ninjutsu, those are my favourites! If Kei-san wants to focus on Bunshin no Jutsu, I don’t mind!”

Asuka heard both of the students speak, they clearly had the eagerness to learn and grow as shinobi. Having said that she giggled once they finished speaking, with no greater pleasure would she answer all their questions. "Well, I'll happily teach you and show you Ninjutsu and Genjutsu." With a pause, Asuka breathed deeply. Exhaling it all in one swoop before starting her explanation.

"I'll start with Ninjutsu, you probably already know this but I'll explain it anyway." Asuka made quick one hand seals and her hand got sourrounded by lightning, cracking at her palm. "The definition of ninjutsu is simple. Anything that isn't Genjutsu or Taijutsu by default is considered Ninjutsu." Closing her palm the lightning dissapeared. "It molds our Chakra into whatever form we intend it to."

Taking a breath she continued, pacing in a circle while using her hands. "Chakra can be molded into five elements. Fire, Lightning, Earth, Air and Water. Hence where my style of Bunshin comes from." Asuka weaved simple hand seals slowly so the students would be able to see which were used. With a poof of smoke Asuka turned into 3 different Asuka's. It would be up to the students to determine who was the real one.

"I use fire to create clones." Started the clone all the way to the right. "I mold Chakra into the fire element and picture myself looking at a mirror then POOF! Clones. Why Fire? Before if a clone is destroyed by Taijutsu it explodes into a blaze, causing quite nasty burns." The clone giggled

Clone number 2, from right to left, continued. "This technique can be useful to confuse your opponent, to either give you time to attack, plan or flee." The clone looked to her right, that's when clone number 3 started to speak.

"To make your own clones, you got to picture yourself splitting into 2. Kind of creating another one of yourself while doing the appropiate hand signs , at first it'll take some time to get it right. But once you master the technique, you'll be able to use it without thinking. Hence where my mirror metaphor came, back when I was a student I had trouble with this Jutsu too. But instead of creating 2 of myself, I just pictured myself looking at a mirror aaannndd." All clones went poof!

Asuka appeared behind her students, placing one hand in each of their heads. "I was able to master the technique. Forgot to add, also useful for sneak attacks." She giggled, hoping it would have scared yet entertained them.

"Any questions before I get into Genjutsu?"

Kei was amused upon seeing her friend fawning over Asuka. Given the similarity of their surname, she had expected that they would have met each other before this meeting at least once though that appeared not to be the case. Also, the girl even offered to draw the Sannin's picture...which just goes to show how much she idolized that woman. Despite her lighthearted tone, however, Asuka seemed eager to start with their lesson immediately with an introduction on ninjutsu.

The explanation on the elements was simple enough, she had already learned the theory in the academy. Still, that did little to prepare her for what came next. Kei observed as Asuka formed a few handseals before showing them a hand charged with electricity, her eyes widening slightly. The girl can barely catch two or three of the handseals involved. Fortunately, they were not here to performed such techniques as Asuka demonstrated how to make shadow clones, which has a simpler set of handseals involved. Out of habit, she would mimic Asuka's handseals though she didn't channel her chakra just yet as she was still trying to memorize which one was needed.

As Asuka formed the clones in front of her, Kei scrutinized them all but find that she cannot discern which one of them was the real body or the clone. She did find the mirror advise to be useful, wishing she had thought of that sooner. When Asuka mentioned that she herself had trouble mastering the technique, inwardly she exhaled in relief. If even the great Sannin herself had needed some time to pick it up, then she would just need to put more effort into hers.

Without warning, all the figure before her vanished with a puff of smoke causing the was redhead to be quite confused as she scanned their surrounding. When she felt a hand on her head she nearly jumped, her hand reached for the hilt out of instinct before she reined in control after realizing it was Asuka and lowered it to her side. Turning to face Asuka, she flashed a small smile and shook her head upon her question.

"Nope, none from me. I'm fine with moving to genjutsu if Masami-san is okay with it."

After hearing Asuka oblige them in their mutual request to learn more about the art of Ninjutsu and Genjutsu, Masami’s excitement flourished. Locking her fingers together behind her back, she awaited the explanation the Sennin would offer. Out of the three core practices that comprised the fundamentals of their trade, she believed that these were the ones with the most aesthetical allure. A pragmatist may believe to hone all of them, and thought she was not blind to the necessity of practicing Taijutsu, she was glad that her first lessons were slanted in favour of the more majestic of the triad.

The first thing they were told was the definition of Ninjutsu, and she noticed that it was deceptively simplistic. Anything that was not Taijutsu or Genjutsu was a broad category, for moulding chakra for a specific purpose other than the other two mentioned presumably could take such an amount forms that it easily may be considered the largest. Masami noted its formation was based in the moulding of Chakra, something she needed to work on. This elaboration did not come without example, however, as she fixedly stared at the crackling lightning succeeding the quick set of one-handed seals. The younger Uchiha hadn’t even known that was possible!

In retrospect to the display of an element, she learned about the five that were used throughout the world. Another display of hand seals and a poof of smoke later and her eyes bore witness to three of her sensei, all identical to one another. Eyes widening at the ease of use, she waited with baited breath for the explanation of how she could one day perform a similar feat. As she looked at the clones, she found it next to impossible for her to determine which one was the original.

A clone that could explode and burn an enemy sounded scary; her expression paled for a moment when she heard that detail. Their uses were more versatile than just that possibility, too, just as nuanced and flexible as presumably other clone techniques. The way Asuka performed the technique, using the mirror metaphor, helped tremendously with getting a solid mental image for using the technique. Before she could provide commentary on that topic, she felt a sensation against her shoulder that almost had her leaping out of her skin.

Eyes darting to the source, she noticed it was just Asuka’s hand. Through quickened breathing she still was able to derive amusement from it, understanding the merit of it as an individual who focused on painting scary pictures for her main hobby. After Kei spoke, she nodded shakily, her lips still tied in a smile.

“I see, I never knew that what you picture in your head could help so much with learning a technique… that is wonderful to know!” As an artist, mental imagery wouldn’t be new to her. “Yes, I am ready to move onto Genjutsu.”

Asuka smiled and gave a simple yet gentle nod. She placed a hand on her chin to try and find a way to explain this to them. She could do the same thing she did on her last tutor but it wouldn't with two people it would be a bit harder. In the end she figured a quick explanation would suffice. After a few moments of silence Asuka started speaking.

"Genjutsu isn't particularly used as an attack per say." Asuka started, pacing around once more. Using her hands to try to ejemplify her words. "Of course the right Genjutsu can have devastations to the mind, sometimes leaving the victim unconcious but unless the victim hurts himself or someone else hurts him or her. There won't be any physical damage."

She stopped, took a deep breath. "Genjutsu attacks your senses. Audial, hearing. Kinetic, your touch. Visual, your eyes. Will, attacks your mind. Your feelings, personality. Genjutsu is quite useful to confuse your enemy, henceforth creating a very good advantage for yourself. Let me demonstrate, but I am going to ask you to sit down and look into my eyes. Whatever happens do not move from your spot, don't want you to get hurt."

Asuka closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Opening them, the Sharingan clearly visible. She looked directly at Kei and activated one of her Genjutsu. If succesful, Kei would suddenly see everything as if it were night time. "Kei is right now seeing everything as if it were night time, even though it's the middle of the day. This Genjutsu is called "Night" it helps the user on making hiding yourself for a sneak attack way easier." Asuka looked at Masami and her Sharingan activated again. If succesful, Masami would look at the bottom of her feet a tree would start growing. Engulfing her in it's roots and branches. "Other Genjutsus, like the one Masami is experiencing at the moment, can be used to stop your enemy. To either have an opportunity to attack or flee."

Asuka held her hand up and snapped her fingers, dispersing the Genjutsu on both of her students. Hopefully they wouldn't have any mental damage from this experience. Asuka likes... hands on experience a lot better than simply theory. "So... any questions? Or anything else you want to know?"

Kei tilted her head slightly as she listened to Asuka's explanation with curiosity. A technique that attacks one's senses instead of their body directly, as simple as that may sound it was also the most difficult as she never quite manage to pull off even with practice. One that she was hoping to rectify through this lesson. When asked to sit down and look into her eyes, she obliged dutifully though she knew what was coming.

Kei barely noted Asuka's eyes turned into a familiar shade of crimson before the world around her turned dark. Prepared she may be for what was to come, it did little to stifle the shudder as she looked around her frantically. Her vision wasn't just impeded like the techniques her teacher used upon her, it was practically robbed. Her hands would immediately reach out for her surroundings and though she attempted to rub her eyes, it did little to improve the situation. The swordswoman could barely hear the voice of the Sannin which explained their situation, preoccupied as she was with the state she was in before her surrounding slowly turned brighter. It took a few moments that the girl realized she was relieved of the genjutsu, her breathing quite labored.

"That's quite amazing sensei." praised the girl as a smile blossomed on her lips. "It's just as you say, everything turned really dark! I can barely see a few feets ahead of me!"

Like a kid who had just gone through a haunted house, she was smiling brightly and was quick to regale her experience. The rush of adrenaline was part of what hooked her up to the path of the strongest and she was quite eager to get started on their playtime slash training. When asked upon whether they have any questions, Kei tapped her chin slightly before her eyes brightened up as she remembered a question she been meaning to ask but never had an opportunity to do so.

"Oh I have one! How can you tell you are caught inside a genjutsu sensei?"

Fascinating! Eyes laden with curiosity, Masami listened to Asuka’s explanation of the illusory arts. Instead of inflicting direct damage on an individual, it influenced the senses in hopes of creating a crucial opening during the heat of combat. Manipulating the senses of an opponent sounded like a nuanced practice with layers of intricacy, but it was one the Uchiha was most interested in. As an artist, tricking the eyes into believing ink inscribed on a flat plane of paper looked realistic was commonplace. If she was going to specialize in anything, testing the integrity of another person’s senses allured her. It seemed like a piece of her life made into her craft as a combatant.

Obliging Asuka’s instructions, Masami waited her turn to look into the Sennin’s eyes. Although she was unable to perceive what her friend was, the Sennin detailed the experience for her, and she believed her. Noticing the girl’s perturbed reaction, she had no trouble imagining that the illusion painted the day in the colours of dusk. Turning her attention towards Asuka and looking into her eyes, they widened when she noticed the matured Sharingan within. Masami may have been capable of it, but she could not perform these feats nor did hers resemble Asuka’s in maturity. Did its features become more pronounced as one grew in strength?

Before her line of thought digressed too far, she noticed a tree growing at the bottom of her feet. Within moments, she found her body ensnared by thick roots and branches. Testing the authenticity of the illusion induced upon her, she pushed an arm against them. As she expected, she found no purchase—the roots hardly budged. Intrigued by the display, excitement manifested on her face in the form of a broad smile as she continued scrutinizing the tree imposed on her. “Oh, I like this one. Beautiful!”

After the illusion was dispersed, and following Kei’s question about discerning whether one was caught an one of these techniques, Masami agreed it was useful knowledge. Had Asuka not told her the nature of the technique, she would not have been privy to the tree being illusory. ”And how do you get out? No matter how much I writhed, it just wouldn’t budge!”

But, she also had a personal question of her own to add. “Also, Asuka-sensei, your Sharingan looks different than mine does… mine only has one tomoe. Is—Is there something wrong with my eyes…?” Unlike her usual carefree demeanour, there appeared to be genuine concern in her voice.

Asuka smiled at them. Indeed they were eager to learn more and she liked that kind of commitment from new students. This kind of attitude was needed and she would be sure to make them bloom into wonderful Shinobi. They deserved that at the very least. Asuka took a few steps forward to stand in front of them once more finally giving them the final part of their lesson. She had to get back unfortunately, paperwork wasn't going to do itself.

She giggled at their questions, they were smart questions. Most asked how the technique was performed, not how it was countered. She could see they would go far in this unjust world. "Well Kei." She started placing her hands at her hips. "I'm not going to lie to you, it's not easy. The basic core of Genjutsu is making sure your opponent doesn't realize what their seeing, feeling or sensing is actually fake. To succesfuly counter a Genjutsu you need three things." Her Sharingan faded back into her Crimson eyes and she raised her hand with one finger pointing at the sky.

"One, Chakra Control. Genjutsu attacks your senses using your Chakra conduits so you need to be able to sense that you're Chakra is not acting as it should be. It takes quite a bit of training to get the feeling but it can be done." Her second finger raised "Two, a calm mind. Some Genjutsu's make you re-live traumatic events... or events you wouldn't want to happen but remaining calm and collected, getting rid of your emotions is the key." She sighed "Personally" Asuka scratched the back of her head, giving them a sad yet genuine smile. "I keep having trouble with the second one, I'm too much of a softie." She giggled once more.

She composed herself almost instantly and continued, raising her third finger. "And third, knowing what is real and what is not. Suddenly everything turning night, trees appearing out of nowhere. Those are things that can't actually happen in the real world without. If it doesn't make sense, it's Genjutsu. But do take into account, there are some rare cases where a tree sprouting out of nowhere is real. Some Bloodlines have special abilities that can make that happen. Just gain experience and trust your instincts."

With that she smiled looking at Masami. "Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with your eyes." She lowered her hands, taking a causal stance"Your Sharingan matures as you grow. You'll gain three tomoe in each when it's finally fully matured. So don't break your head over it, all is fine. If you want to more information on the Sharingan, just pass by my office and I'll happily explain it to you."

Asuka took a deep breath. "With that, I'll end this tutor. I really do hope you learned and enjoyed yourselves at the same time. Me personally, I enjoyed meeting you two." Asuka walked forward, patting both of their heads. "I can tell you two are going to grow into wonderful Shinobi." Asuka kneeled down, keeping her hands on their heads. "Never be afraid to make mistakes. Learn from them. Be afraid to make the same mistake twice and never forget, stay true to what you believe is right."

With how poor her chakra control was, even if Kei wanted to learn how to use genjutsu she doubted she can utilize them effectively in battle. Thus her decision on asking how to find out if she was caught in one in the first place was born not out of disinterest in them but rather of necessity. When Masami asked how to get out of them, the girl nodded and mentally thank Masami as she was spared from asking them herself.

Among the three listed by the Sannin on how to counter genjutsu, for Kei the first one was the most difficult. Her father had already taught her on how to keep calm even in the direst of situation and while one could argue the last part was also quite difficult, it was not something she can do about without becoming a full-fledged ninja and take a couple of mission of her own to find out what would be real and illusion when it comes to genjutsu.

"Chakra control, calm mind and a discerning eye. Got it!"Kei replied enthusiastically as she wrote the kanji for each phrase onto the palm of her fingers. It's a memory technique she had picked up from her mother when it comes to remembering things.

When Masami mentioned about her eye technique to their teacher, Kei was quite curious though she did not interrupt. It was the first time she had heard that there was a difference between different eyes of Uchiha and that there were different stage to it. She did wonder on how one would know their own eyes have evolved however...it was not like they'd be able to see their own eyes. Should they be by themselves and a source of reflection like a mirror or a clear puddle of water do not exist, would they be then relying on their shadow clones to tell if their eyes had evolved?

A sense of relief washed over her having heard the younger Uchiha eyes were not defective in any way. That their tutor ended this early was a pity, she had hoped they would at least do physical training together. But then again, she was the Sannin which Kei assume means to have a lot of responsibility to it that would keep her busy.

"Understood sensei. Let's train together sometimes." the redhead replied cheerfully.

As an individual who intended to prioritize the illusory arts, Masami’s eyes were glued to Asuka while she explained the nuances of genjutsu. Three main points comprised countering the techniques, the first being a field she was starting to get better at. The ability to control chakra was crucial in the world they resided where almost everything they did seemed to be funded by it. However, being proficient with chakra was only the tip of the iceberg when it came to eluding the influential illusions.

The Sennin revealed the importance of a calm mind. It made sense because the art dealt with deceiving the mind, and a hectic mind seemed even more vulnerable to mental onslaughts. When she saw the authenticity of Asuka’s brief sad smile, Masami’s expression softened, her eyes filled with worry. Had the woman before her experienced trauma throughout her life? It was difficult to find a kunoichi or shinobi who hadn’t, and it made the younger Uchiha’s problems seem miniscule by comparison. At the very least, she recuperated nearly instantly and that was reassuring to the younger clanswoman.

Knowing the distinction between reality and illusion sounded difficult when, as she just learned, the illusions could be very convincing. Had her sensei not told her beforehand, she would not have known that an illusion bound her. She needed to do her best to keep all three points in mind. Questioning anomalies that seemed on the surreal side of the spectrum may save her life one day; Masami held the advice close to her heart.

When one activated the sharingan, it wasn’t difficult to feel the intense emanation of chakra from the eyes. With chakra–for lack of a better description–leaking out of one’s own face, checking out a reflection to see what went awry wasn’t farfetched. Masami smiled when she heard her eyes weren’t defective, and she wanted to take up Asuka’s invitation of dropping by her office. As an Uchiha, she would like to learn more about the doujutsu she was fortunate enough to be blessed with.

Feeling a hand on top of her head, she fixed her eyes on Asuka with a sense of wonder. There was no doubt in her mind she looked up to the Sennin, and she felt sad that the session couldn’t go on a little longer. Bobbing her head in recognition of the advice allotted to her, she beamed another bright smile.

“I very much enjoyed it! I would also love to stop by your office when you aren’t occupied to ask more about the sharingan,” she said, her expression softening once again. “Thank you, sensei.”

[I definitely enjoyed this topic as well. I’d love for Masami to meet up with her sensei again another time!]
