Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

His pupils widened from beneath the shadow cast by his cloak's ivory fabric rising in the air. The arching of the male's backside attributed to the sudden shifting of the sand beneath the sole of his feet, relinquishing the stability previously held. Cast down the walls of the impromptu funnel depression, Oyochi's body flipped end over end a multitude of times before finally coming to sliding halt at the base. Sand still trailed behind the path his body took, packing in waves arounf his settled form while a low groan signaled that he had managed to not be deceased. Vocalizing the pain that had overtaking of the bodies cells, his form struggled to an upright stance as a shaking palm grabbed hold of the cloak's neckline. Freeing his body from the cloak was a simple motion, casting aside the added cloth protection in leu of it having been the cause of his latest misfortune. This is when it donned upon him why it had been that he ended ip near the unstable sand formation in the first place, a reminder that was accompanied by physic proof in several low growls echoing into the sinkhole.

Bringing his attention to the growl's source, Oyochi's gaze caught the focused glare of a Sand Wolf. Having splinter the small pack of three which they had stumbled upon, Oyochi had found himself chased down by the only one which had chosen to hunt him down. Watching strings of saliva loosely manifest as attachments to the predator's canines, he understood that the vibrations of his Overseer's movements somewhere in the desert had waned to nothingness. Even now his natural symbiotic relationship with the earth could do to nothing against a target which was simply out of range.

The adam's apple in his neck rose and fell, his own spit being swallowed as the choices on what to do were severely limited. He could hear the grinding of his teeth as the wolf's aggression edged it's face closer and closer before suddenly the sand relinquished it's stableness and into the hole descended the creature. Within, the loud woofing of the sand wolf was intermixed with a human yell and earth shifting. A conclusive whine was drowned by silence while the answers to which, the predator or the prey had survived through the encounter. Droplets of blood fell unto the sand, eagerly attached and swallowed up by grains of sand that relished at every opportunity to engulf moisture. His palms covered in the desert's grains which clung to his skin, as both hands remained pressed into the ground. Both sets of eye's meeting while the light faded from within one, the life which had kept them open fading into the void of death. Expending from under the sand, a grouping of erected stone needles had pushed upwards with varied angles between them. Caught like an empaled lump of flesh along one of them would be the carcass of the sand wolf while Oyochi worked to catch his breath somewhere off to the side.

Shifting the flow of chakra beneath his feet, the male's form would ascend the sand pit quickly, preferring not to remain in the company of something which had very nearly claimed his own life. Coming to stop away from the depression's mouth, his gaze overlooked the vast openness of desert before him, dominated by waves of towering dunes and a peaked sun. Being blissfully away of just how distant he was from his Overseer a quick realization fell upon him in these moments. That now, within a minute space of the Desert Expanse he was somewhat alone. Somewhat making itself understood as the albino head of a juvenile serpent pushed out from between his barefeet and couled itself upon Oyochi's form until it rested along his shoulder's.

His eye's found themselves locked upon the only other creature which had never left his side or betrayed his trust. That besides his own blood sibling, the serpent had been a trustworthy friend. As it's forked tongue lashed out to taste the air, he'd clap his palms against one another, detaching the grains of sand which had maintained their hold upon him.

You have found the contract - Snake.

Based on you searching for this I will slap you every time I see you online on Discord if you turn it down.

Do you accept (the Snake contract, not the slapping)?

In the distance, blurred by the heat radiating off of the sand there looked like a mirage in the distance. It was neither green nor blue, but rather it looked almost as though there were a rock formation floating above the surface of the land. How far above one couldn't tell, and whether it were or not above was not yet truly known for the lines and colour which betrayed it wove and flickered with the rising heat.

The distance from where he stood to this location was also unknown, it could be a full days travel away, or it could be closer, maybe even further.

Traveling in the desert also wasn't a very safe thing to do. The heat during the day was killer, but the chill during the night was equally so. Lack of water, lack of food (though it seemed that perhaps at least one of these had been solved temporarily). The creatures of the desert had evolved to survive them... humans had not. Humans did not adapt to their environment, they adapted their environment to them. At least where they could. In travel this meant adapting their clothing and bags to be able to survive, in settling it meant changing where the water went, bringing in soil to grow crops, or simply bringing in crops.

Life wasn't so easy here for the poorly prepared.

So how prepared was this soul.

And what exactly was he going to do?

There was plenty of life around him, though why there was a wolf running around a desert only Shinbatsu knew, but there was also plenty of death. Decisions would need to be made, he was in the desert.

Running the inside of his forearm against his lips, he casually rubbed away what droplets of water still clung to his lips before turning the small canteen towards his companion. The albino serpent took a quick moment to lap at small collections of water that still clung stubbornly against the bottles mouth before backing away as Oyochi capped it. Shaking it slightly within his grasp he easily reasoned that there was enough water within for maybe two more water breaks if they were being absolutely conservative with their consumption which made finding relief from the climate all the more important. Cuffing his hand over the brow of his eyes, shielding his vision from the sun overhead as he scanned the immediate distance for some potential signs of where to venture. What caught his eye, albeit vague, was a looming shadow far off though the residiual heat from the sand made it impossible to make out any of the feature or to dictate if what he was seeing was actually there.

He adverted his gaze momentarily however to survey the recently killed sand wolf, impaled down in the pit and a slight grimace fell along his lips. Normally one would be tempted to use available resources to prepare for such a journey however there was nothing worth salvageable upon the carcass. The heat would only speed up the rot and how the creature was dispatched had certainly damaged the internal organs making the meat potentially toxic with bile and excrement. Given his situation, there was little more he could do but head towards the highest potential of survival which was the vague landmark in the distance though the irony was that it could easily and equally be a trick of the environment. That could mean he was walking towards a worse outcome..

"We'll take the best option for now unless it begins to seem pointless."

Leaning forwards, his body would slide down the opposite side of the dune, his bare feet keeping easy balance amongst the shifting sands until he reached the bottom. Now normally it would be ignorant to go shoeless or without some protection on your feet through the desert but Oyochi was different. His ingrained connection with the earth itself made it so that he didn't suffer adverse effects from continued exposure to the sand itself. As he walked, he could feel the hum of the earth beneath him and hear the voice of the sand. If anything were going to be amiss as he traveled it was highly likely he would be aware of it's approach...

Perhaps in part because of his natural abilities with the earth, despite their perhaps slight reduction in ability due to the "earth" being stood on being sand, he was faring fairly well in the massive dunes of the area. Taking his time and in being very careful with his water supply it seemed that things were going about as well as one could hope for when lost in the desert. Being wise enough to not eat the wolf he wouldn't suffer from the vomiting which would almost have been an instant reaction to performing such an act, though the decay wouldn't have caused it, but certainly the bile, and probably blood poison due to it not being released out of the animal fast enough before it poisoned the meat itself.

Still progress would be made.

Time passed, the water supply was emptied, but he would know that he was heading towards something, not just a figment of his imagination, which is always comforting, and as the day wore on and the heat began to wane, the sand began to cool, and the cliff that he could see seemed to settle itself closer to the earth.

Yet it was still many hours walk away, and the heat wasn't gone to a comfortable level yet, though wouldn't be too far away, still he would need to find food and some kind of liquid. To continue on like this would mean he might reach the location... but that would be about as good as things would be. Like having the biggest headstone ever... if someone were nice enough to carve your name on the cliff face that is.

Especially as evening approached and so would the freezing cold. That would take a toll on his body, requiring energy to keep itself warm.

There were tracks in the sand of a potential food source of course.

A sidewinder seemed to be nearby, after all, the wind hadn't yet removed the evidence of its passing.

He'd stop at the crest of one of the many sand dunes which littered the vast expanse of sand in the desert, his gaze focusing upon the shear volume of color patterns which interchanged dominance in the sky, accenting the falling sun while stars began to become visible. His fingertip would bring forth a small, blackened object towards his lips, a typical soldier pill which eat quickly devoured. The night would be unforgiving soon and the last thing he needed was his energy supply to be hampered during this crucial moment. Squatting, he had planned to take a quick rest before noticing something strange which ran against the natural waves in the sand. A separate path splintered off into a different direction, the slithering motion while unfamiliar were easily of serpent origins.

"..."

He could not afford to venture off aimlessly to satisfy his curiosity, because in this environment he could easily be signing a death warrant in doing so. Though it also be that wherever the serpent had gone to, could equally present resources that would sustain him. Momentarily unsure of what to do, it occurred to him that he could be in two places at the same time. Placing his palms together, his palms quickly weaved a series of hand seals before holding his palm out flat before him. Chakra would collect and structure itself into a small, hovering sphere as his right eye darkened. Forming with the orb would be his eye pattern before the chakra crystallized and held a stable structure. The crystal eye would zoom outwards, it's mission to follow the serpent's tracks and if something promising was discovered the Oyochi would know to head in that direction.

For the time being, while light still remained in the sky, Oyochi would continue towards the rock formation.

The crystal eye moved out to scout the trail, finding a snake moving across the sand at a reasonable pace, it wouldn't have been more than twenty meters (about 60 feet) away and nothing about it stood out. It slid sideways across the sand leaving the trail that is so distinctive. With the light retreating it was most likely heading to the location that it called home.

Oyochi moved across the sand with his soldier pills. He needed to make that decision on what to do... go after the snake, or continue walking. Unfortunately due to this decision needing to be made by the player the mod of this contract search couldn't really do much more than simply this... which probably should have been posted 3 days ago.
