Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Most of the time Shizuka was quite calm and collected. Hard tests or complicated exercises didn’t scare her even if she knew that she was certainly going to fail them. There would be time to work them out and in general, well… Some made her dirty, others hurt when they fell apart in her hands, but none had made her as nervous as the instructions she had gotten this morning during what she had assumed to be a normal work-out class. Taijutsu wasn’t her strongest side, and working out in a group could be a bother, but she would have gladly switched back to practising with her own class instead of getting a handful of first years to train.

How in the world was she supposed to train anyone?! She was still studying at the Academy for a reason!

Nervously looking through one of the handbooks she still had from her first two years, Shizuka frowned then sighed. She had no idea about what the kids already knew or didn’t. Molding chakra and forming hand seals were the first things regarding Ninjutsu that one was taught. So.. hopefully they knew some of that.

‘Hmm’, she hummed and closed the book in her lap. With students having different connections with different elements it would be hard to pick one jutsu to teach them. And if she was to pick more than one then a part of the group would be bored..- or! could it be that the instructors had thought things through? With small groups being formed they might have put the students with the same affinities together! Oh, please, let that be the case, she thought before putting away the book and heading out to deal with this ‘group’ she would soon be responsible for.

In the end there turned out to be three students that were assigned to her. She had the odd feeling of it being a team and her being the really inexperienced team leader. Perhaps that was exactly what it was. In either case she would have to work with what she had.

“Good morning, guys. My name is Senju Shizuka and today I’ll be guiding you through the formation of a jutsu we’ll choose together.” Smiling slightly she felt proud about having come up with them to be a part of the picking process. This way they could all agree on something all of them found interesting and wanted to be a part of!

The two boys and one girl each introduced themselves with quite some enthusiasm. It had Shizuka trying to remember if she too had been so excited to talk to a ‘senior’. Probably. In fact, she admitted to herself with no blushing (thankfully), she still was. Both Siu and Suika immediately called for admiration and respect in her opinion. Older kunoichi and shinobi who knew more and were able of things she had no grip of yet had always been, to an extent, those she had looked up to. It was odd to be put forward as an example, even if it was only for start-ups.

Sitting down on the ground, in the field of grass they had met, Shizuka motioned for the three to do the same. They did without hesitation which gave her a good feeling. Less nerves and more confidence; she was slowly starting to feel more at ease with this whole idea of ‘teaching’.
“First of all, I’ll have to know what element you guys are the closest with. I assume that you’ve all been through the basics of chakra molding?”

Nodding followed and Shizuka was pleased to see that all were aware of what she was referring at. One of the guys put up their hand, a gesture that confused Shizuka for a brief moment, but soon enough she recovered and encouraged him with a gentle nod to ask what he wanted to know. It turned out that all of them were familiar with Lightning, and she couldn’t help but feel like they had been specifically picked this way. Good! It made things less complicated for her.

“We’ll start with the very basics, I think that all of you have practiced aiming before. So hitting targets that aren’t too far away shouldn’t be a huge problem.” Pointing toward the empty space in the distance she channeled the necessary chakra for three large logs to come from beneath the ground. Standing not entirely straight they formed three targets with slightly different angles. It wasn’t as if she had thought about it, mostly the logs were used to pin down opponents, distract them, or form the base of a structure..

“Woah! That’s wood!” The guy from before gasped, eyes slightly wide. The others appeared to impressed as well, but kept their feelings a bit closer to themselves.

“Good observation!” she laughed, and the blush on his cheeks suggested embarrassment. Though, there was no need for that. She wasn’t mocking him.

“Now Kosuke,” hopefully she hadn’t messed up his name, but according to the way he looked up from his spot, she hadn’t. “which lightning jutsu would you want to try?”

And off they went.

While the most talkative and fairly silly in nature, Kosuke turned out to be quite the student. He mimicked the seals she made without any mistakes, did as was told with no arguing, and was the first one to successfully hit one of the logs. That’s when Shizuka required of him to hit the log she told him to as the others of their little group practiced the formation of the Storm Bolt. The girl was quite good with the chakra molding process but kept on making mistakes during the seals. Her sequences didn’t always fit. It caused Shizuka to believe that either she was lazy or had a really bad memory. The other boy, however, had all the seals right, though his chakra didn’t always flow the way he wanted it to.

The seals bit could easily be fixed with a bit more studying.. or.. well, she hoped that it didn’t have anything to do with memory. That would be way harder to solve, but judging by the speed she was catching up with the guys, it was probably her lack of studying rather than anything being wrong with her brain.

“Kosuke, I want you to pick one log and hit it in the same spot three times in a row. Once you’ve succeeded you can help out Naoko here with the seals.” Making sure that both of her fellow students had heard it - and gave her a reply - she turned her attention to Takashi.

The silent boy’s face was one of slight frustration. By now he had managed to make a couple of sparks but that was it. None of it had been enough to fire the jutsu they had been working on. His previously seen excitement was fading slightly. She could tell that he was wondering if things would have turned out differently for him should he have voted for another ‘spell’.

Coming over to sit down next to the dark haired boy, Shizuka could see the muscles beneath his skin tense a bit. She had the idea that it was her presence that made him even more nervous than he already was. “Hey,” she started out gently, putting a hand on his forearm to get his full attention. “calm down, you need to be patient with your chakra. If you rush it then your control might slip very easily. You need to get used to it, make sure it’s natural. Then it’ll work without you having to put in thoughts.. hmm, like if you’re walking, you don’t need to think all the time that you have to move your legs, right?”

That seemed to get his attention. Blue eyes were fixed on Shizuka’s pale face now. He appeared to be genuinely curious about what she had to say or had already said. Unsure what he was thinking, she poked him to share his mind. It quickly turned into him revealing the issue of his failing chakra control. The little guy turned out to be afraid of hurting himself by putting in too much energy. That’s why his sparks had been barely noticeable. Truth was, he knew how to form the seals and guide the energy, he just had to pin down the right amount of chakra to release.

“Don’t worry too much about hurting yourself, by the way. Things like that happen when you’re learning. To be honest, it’s better that it happens now than in a critical situation. I’ve ‘burned’ myself a couple of times. One time my toes were numb from the lightning.” Grinning, to encourage him to be a bit more relaxed, she watched him practice while keeping an eye on the other two. By now Kosuke had succeeded and was helping out his classmate. They appeared to be getting along well and Shizuka decided to leave them with the hand seals until Takashi had succeeded to shoot off a Storm Bolt.

Once he found the courage to take the risk of hurting his fingers in case of the jutsu going up in smoke, or rather sparks and sizzles of electricity, Takashi got the hang of it real fast. A mere hour later the three were able to hit the targets from various angles and even while running. The sight gave Shizuka an immense amount of pride. The fact that she had helped them to get everything right, with the exception of Kosuke who already possessed the skills, had her feeling quite happy.

“Shizuka-nee-san, can you show us another jutsu?” Kosuke (who else?) wanted to know with his eyes sparkling with excitement. Unfortunately, the afternoon was already around the corner and their time together was done. That, however, didn’t save her from being pushed into performing a jutsu for them. Even Takashi had joined in calling it ‘something to work for’, and she thought to understand their reasoning.

And that’s how Shizuka ended up creating the Zeus Flash for the three younger students. A spear of lightning that pierced all of the three logs in one go. It also caused some smoke and the mutual application of rinsing with the help of Naoko who turned out to be more of a water element user.
