Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

On the outskirts of Kumogakure, next to the fields and ancient forest were a series of temples dedicated to different deities.

One of the temples on the outside had a statue of a deity sitting on a chair, before him were two men locked in an eternal battle of strength. The god was Bishamon, deity of combat. Behind the statue was a round temple, pillars of marble rimming its outside. As one entered through the doorless front they would find a short flight of stairs leading to a smaller version of the coliseum.

Several young students were standing around on the stadium floor.

Surrounding them were two meter high walls of marble, a replica of the chair which Bishamon rested in the statue outside sat inside, empty, facing the arena. On its right and left were two smaller, identical chairs. One was empty, the other sat a man with wild red hair in a training gi. Around the edge of the arena sat different people of different ages, all in training gi.

They sat and talked with one another casually. The students below looking at each other, waiting for their orders, wondering what was going to happen.

The man who sat beside the giant throne stood. Slowly silence descended upon the crowd of people watching, the students below recognising that they should do the same.

Welcome to your Genin exam. It is rare but not unheard of for the temple of Bishamon to welcome Kumogkure's youth to take part in their examination. Bishamon is god of combat, he watches over every fight and decides the victor. Mistakes in combat are acts of blasphemy, there are no excuses for them, for the truly blessed will never make them. Of course they are still expected. Mistakes made when trying to improve yourself are mistakes to never be made again. Bishamon takes them from you and you grow stronger for it, he takes your weakness into himself and in his strength he absolves you of it. When you have made your last mistake you will be taken from this existence and placed in his great hall where you can fight for all eternity.

The rest of the hall said in chorus If it is his will.

My name is Myoumi Akuhei, I am a high priest of Bishamon and have trained in every form of combat. I am still here, so I still have a last mistake to make.

There are only a few rules in serving this faith.

First is that you will train, that you will learn.
Second is that you will fight, that you will offer yourself as a sacrifice to Bishamon.
Third is that you will identify when it is without purpose to fight, for to fight those who are weaker when you are not teaching them is blasphemous, to fight those who are stronger when you are not learning is suicidal.

Life is the cost of failing in these rules.

Again everyone else spoke up in chorus Death is your payment.

You are here to fight in glorious combat, there will be two knockout rounds against each other. Then you shall test yourselves against the newest Genin disciples of Bishamon, and then there will be one final test.

He sat and another member of the disciples of Bishamon moved into the training circle.

Speaking more quietly, directly to the students and not to everyone around Please give me your names. You will be chosen at random as to who your opponents are.

Hito woke from his sleep, having found a sturdy, yet somewhat comfy tree branch to sleep in. He sat up, looking around and guessing the time. It was roughly two in the morning. Maybe he was nervous, but then again, it wasn't like him to be nervous. Maybe... he just couldn't sleep? Hito frowned, burrowing his brows, thinking just how much longer it would be until his Genin exam started. It was today, after all. Gathering himself, and his belongings, he climbed out of the tree
Making his way down the wooden giant, Hito thought of a way to wake up and refresh himself.

As he reached the bottom of the tree, he licked his finger and stuck it into the air. The breeze would tell him which way the wind was blowing, but in tonight's case - there was no breeze. With that in mind, the boy had an image of a river nearby where he had done some training and had a class at (that he remembered). Picking himself up and getting himself together (figuratively), Hito made his way towards that destination. After arriving and washing for the day, he relaxed. Looking up into the sky, he could now tell it was around five in the morning. Hmm, not much longer then.

After an hour, the boy got out, allowed himself to dry off, and got dressed. Now he had to make his way to the exam area, which happened to be an area for the combat religious of the village, it seemed. Making his way through the village, he walked with a purpose. He didn't want to be late. After the walk, which took roughly fifteen minutes or so, he finally arrived.

Today was the day of the dreaded Genin exam and Kazu was not ashamed to admit that he had been absolutely bricking it. The young shinobi-to-be dragged himself out of bed early in the morning. With a single glance at his clock, he knew that this was going to be an annoying start to the day, "It's six in the AM....Man, why've I gotta do stuff now?" he grumbled as he stood himself up in order to get his things together and get to the exam venue. Half an hour had passed him by as he left the house without so much as a goodbye to his family; many things had slipped his mind as he thought about what the events of today might bring, after all, failing would really suck.

Kazu's journey to the Genin exam began, this walk being the bridge to either his utmost success or outright failure in his career. He allowed the crisp, early morning air to fill his lungs and fully revive him. At this particular hour, the village seemed to be a ghost town; everyone being in bed in a peaceful slumber.
On the other hand, Kazu's mind begun to fully awaken which brought him nothing but thoughts of fear, worry and anxiety, thoughts that would more often than not be the death of him in battle.

Upon arrival at the site of the exam, he gazed up at the impressive temple, "Great, my exam's being run by a bunch of religious screws...." he huffed, never having been particularly religious in himself, however the temple was a great sight to behold. Finally ready for the exam, he entered to greet the other participants.

Pulling names the first fight was going to be between a couple of Genin hopefuls.

They punched, kicked, cast low level jutsu and engaged in combat until only one of them stood. The crowd watching cheered, though they were of similar skill, it seemed as though one took advantage over a mistake that the other made, his fist making good contact with the others jaw, chakra enhanced and sending the other boy to the dirt.

Next up was Hito versus another kid, the kid had the Saito clan name and was a low level Hyuuga combatant which Hito would recognise as such.

After that match would be Kazu versus his opponent, a youth from the Hashigaki clan.

Akuehei kept watch from his seat. It would be interesting to see how the students of Kumo were combat wise now. He had heard that Kushin had attempted to teach a class a few years ago to tell them to not focus on attack techniques. Yet he also heard that they hadn't taken it to heart and Kushin had invariably never taught another class again. The thought amused him somewhat. His pupil was not really one to take others under his wing.

The first match went by and he nodded approval for those with medical training to take the fallen boy out of the arena to receive treatment in case there were any serious injuries, though at this level Akuhei doubted there would be any.

The second and then the third he hoped would be more interesting.

[OOC: Roleplay your first combat against your academy student opponents. They're of the same level your characters are though have their own bloodlines as described in the roleplay above. There isn't a posting order, but the combat of Kazu's will occur after Hito's.]

Hito walked around, looking at the statues of the place. When he stopped and was looking over some decoration in the walls, he heard his name as to proceed to the proving grounds to fight an academy student level Hyuuga, who shared the name Saito. He thought the person must be related to old man. With that thought in his head, he walked down the steps into the fighting area, and met the other combatant.

With having seen what Hyuuga could do with their taijutsu. If the other was skilled enough to prove Hito a challenge, he would enjoy this fight. As the two walked away from each other to ready themselves for the fight, Hito made a mental check to what the Hyuuga had or could do that he knew of.
Byakugan, so he can see through my attacks like a sharingan, probably some type of defensive taijutsu, and one or two weak jutsu with their main jutsu being their strongest... Now to find out what their jutsu element is and I'll have All I need to know. Hito drew his sword with incredible speed, and if the other hadn't activated their eyes yet, Hito was already behind them, his blade about to go for their neck. If the other turned their head, it'd result in a scratch on their face. But knowing Hyuuga, Hito bet he'd miss and get met with their defensive jutsu.

If met with their jutsu,he'd jump and flip back away from them, to only rush back in, his mind mentally taking note of how long their jutsu lasted before they could use it again.

If not, Hito would send a punch to the others face, his brutal strength showing. If the punch landed, it would send the other flying for a few feet, being as Hito was trained for speed and brute force. When the two met, it was like being hit with a semitruck.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Kazu. He grinned and would prove how much stronger he was now than he was then. Hito had grown in strength exponentially, just his physical strength five times when the two first met.

"Man....." he sighed as the names were called out. Observing his opponent, this is exactly what he was hoping for not to happen, "Hashigaki.....shit..." he whispered quietly as he gripped his bow. After all, Hito had been fierce in his battle just past so, maybe this was the best opportunity for Kazu to prove his worth to the blade-wielding savage. A breeze blew through the open temple door, causing him to shiver for a brief moment.
Kazu watched as the Hashigaki readied for battle with his flute, sound being his clan's weapon as Kazu quickly remarked. "A flute.....I know my Genjutsu won't do me much good here but.....what's his attacks like?" he wondered almost silently.
The battle commenced and Kazu was the first to strike, grabbing at the bow on his back and drawing it, subsequently activated his Sharingan to make movement tracking more clear and concise against his opponent.
'The Rim of the Sky', Kazu's bow, fiercely snapping together was primed for attack. A powerful yet accurate shot was fired at the Hashigaki shinobi, made much more precise by the incredible gift of aim that the Sharingan provided.
Having missed, the arrow was a likely distraction. Kazu set his bow down swiftly, thereafter proceeding to use his Grand Fireball technique against the Hashigaki in hopes of quickly defeating his opponent. Attaching his bow back to his carrier affixed to his back, he watched the spectacle created by his jutsu, readying himself in case a counter attack was heading his way.

[OOC: okay, very sorry for my delay in posting. Will be active again from now on.]

Hito and his opponent stepped out. His opponent seemed about the same age and as they faced each other in the arena he was unarmed, though being a Hyuuga that didn't mean he wasn't dangerous.

Drawing his blade he made his attack, yet as fast as someone could draw a blade an unarmed fighter didn't need to do so. The blade was barely out of the sheath before the Hyuuga was inside range for an attack, his fist coming at Hito's face. Moving sideways in a predetermined movement to get behind the Hyuuga was all that saved him from receiving the full force of the blow, but it left Hito out of position. The two were of similar speed, but now Hito had his sword out. Going on the attack he went for a decapitating shot. As the Saito clan member turned Hito would notice the tell tale sign of the Byakugan, and at the boys feet dust flew up as he did exactly what Hito anticipated and activated a defensive technique.

Taking the two strikes from the Kaiten hurt, but as the spinning stopped the blade crashed down and bit deep. Blood rained down on the stadium floor and some splashed crimson across Hito's blade. The young Saito was down and though he moved to stand amidst groans of pain he couldn't reach his feet before medical personal arrived and took him away.

Hito had won.

In Kazu's fight it seemed that the boy had met his match, the Hashigaki beating the youngster, the music casting genjutsu combined with melee working too well for the other.

-------------------
ROUND 2
-------------------

And it seemed that Hito would be fighting the Hashigaki next.

[OOC: Again do as you did before, but this one will take a couple of posts.]

As his fight ended, Hito relaxed. One win down. As Kazu lost his fight, Hito shook his head. Now he would be up against the Hashigaki. He thought about what the Hashigaki were known for. Sound? He furrowed his brows, closing his eyes, thinking deeper. What were they known for other than sound...? They were born blind, but were adept at using sounds and vibrations as their weapons. Connecting two and two together, Hito realized he'd have to stop them from playing their flute.

Hito stepped forward, back down into the ring. As he readied his body for the upcoming fight, he also mentally prepared for the Genjutsu that would be sent his way this next fight. Genjutsu and Ninjutsu - a Hashigaki's friend. Hito remembered. As the other stepped down into the arena with him, he gave them the look over, scanning for any weaknesses he could see right away. They were blind, so he had that going for him. But they were excellent at hearing sounds. Something Hito wasn't good at doing? Being quiet with his movements or his actions. Better it be now to learn it then later, he thought. It was one of those realizations you have when it's the most important thing to happen in your life.

Taking that to heart, Hito didn't greet the opponent, didn't speak. Putting away his sword, he brought out two chakra blades. He planned on being close up with the opponent, to keep them from using their Genjutsu flute. Now for Ninjutsu, that wouldn't be too much of a problem. But he knew Genjutsu would be his downfall. As the other stepped fully into the arena, Hito was already dashing at them, chakra flowing through his blades. Sending a slash to the arm holding the flute, Hito would also send a good bit of chakra into the blades. If they dodged the attack, they'd have to dodge the chakra attack as well. If not, Hito had set up the chakra as a second attack to cut the arm off. He wasn't going to hold back.

If the opponent dodged both, Hito would use his own Genjutsu - Intimidation, and go after them with another taijutsu attack; jumping above them, both of his daggers pointing downwards. He would make them sink into the shoulders of the other, only to dig down and rip outwards, severing their muscles and breaking bones in their neck and shoulder area. If the opponent noticed and dodged, Hito would jump backwards to regain his posture.

Hito had a certain amount of knowledge on his opponent, but where he was slightly wrong was in how the Hashigaki's hearing worked.

The Hashigaki entered the ring and already he could hear Hito, even though he was standing still he was still breathing, the tiny movements a body made rubbing against his clothing gave him a general picture of the boy, and then as Hito charged he could see that too.

Making a swipe with his chakra blades towards the others arm was successful however, the Hashigaki dropped the flute and a spray of blood went across the arena. Yet the Hashigaki moved his hand up and grabbed Hito's wrist it seemed as though the Hashigaki wanted to show the other something of their techniques as he opened his mouth and let out a scream in an attempt to deafen Hito. The vibrations would rupture the eardrums and cause dizziness, let alone cause Hito to lose one of his senses.

Letting go of the other he then held up his other hand, a flute crystalizing in the hand. A smile on his face as he looked at Hito bringing the flute to his lip about to play.

Having his ear pretty much screamed into, and having his eardrums ruptured, Hito had a loss of hearing. But, having this happen to him made him realize that it also could effect the opponent. Having being dizzy, he'd see the other form a flute and bring it to their lips. Reacting quickly, he'd make to knock it away from their lips, but at the same time, sending his right hand, clenched in a fist, to the side of the opponents head. To their ear, to be exact. If a Hashigaki lost their hearing, they'd lose their main senses for combat.

Considering being dizzy, and not having his own hearing, Hito could only see what his opponent was doing. If his fist connected to their ear, just his brute strength would knock them away in an attempt to either break the flute - or even better - rupture their own eardrum.

If landing this hit, Hito would chase after the thrown punch with another, to the opposite side of their head. He'd render their main sense useless, if possible. As he would send another punch to their head-side, he'd also use his opposite hand's chakra blade to try and plunge it into the torso of the enemy.

If he failed all of these, he'd resort to ninjutsu - sending a Zeus Flash their way to impale or explode on contact, and for him to try and regain some of his senses; to rid himself of being overly dizzy from continued bodily strain, and to ready for another attack/counter.

Hito broke free from his opponent and then moved to attack with both hands, his left went to knock the flute away and the right went to clap his opponents ear to try and partially deafen his opponent. But his footing wasn't as strong as it needed to be, the Hashigaki simply pushing his chest and sending him stumbling backwards only to fall on his ass.

The Hashigaki looked confident in his position, standing above Hito he began to play his music.

Instead of trying to stand however Hito cast his Zeus Flash, hurling the bolt of lightning which slammed into his opponents chest, impaling him. The Hashigaki's expression changed and he stumbled backwards himself, then fell to one knee, his left hand moving to his chest, his abdomen heaving and a cough revealing pinkish blood foaming in his mouth. The music had stopped almost as fast as it had begun and Hito moved forward, swinging his blade for the others neck.

Yet again his dizziness failed his footing, but this time it only meant that the fist grasping the blade slammed into the side of the other boys neck instead. The two collapsing in the dirt, but the winner obvious.

Mednin moved in to take the unconscious Hashigaki away.

Akuhei leapt down to the floor.

Hito, you are the winner. But we are going to skip the initiative battle. I feel that you deserve to skip to the final fight.

No time to recover, Hito stood and swayed. Even at his best the fight was clearly uneven. The man before him was one of the villages best fighters, a man who had dedicated his entire life to the art of combat, versus Hito.

You should know what you must do. Akuhei said pulling a slim blade the length of his forearm from its sheath and taking a combative stance.

As he landed on his ass, and threw out his Zeus Flash, he watched where it struck. He performed his other attacks, ending up finishing the other off. But, as the mednin carried off the other, the main guy of the temple stepped down. He thought something like this might happen. Not having time to recover, Hito was breathing heavily from his dizziness and his splitting headache now forming due to his hearing loss a few moments ago.

Gathering himself, he put away his chakra blades and withdrew his trusty sword. His hands slightly shaking from the fatigue, he readied himself for this new opponent. But, as he had no information on this opponent other than what his eyes could see, he only knew he carried the blade, what he wore, and how he carries himself. As he readies himself, a minute passed, Hito steadying his hands and breathing. Then, without warning to the other, he was off again, snapping a quick Zeus Flash at him, and immediately following up with his intimidate genjutsu, and rushing towards the other, his blade ready to strike.

As he came closer to the opponent, if he dodged the ninjutsu, he'd also have to party or counter Hito's onslaught of taijutsu attacks, aiming for the heart, slashes access the chest, and stabs to the others abdomen. If all else failed, or if he was driven into a defensive stance, Hito would prepare his parries and counter attacks. He knew his opponent was stronger, but it didnt matter to Hito. He'd do his best to try and overcome the other.

Akuhei shook his head as the boy attacked. He clearly hadn't listened and he'd have to remind him.

The Zeus Bolt flew at him with lighting speed, but his blade slashed into it with a counter attack, shards of lightning dissipated around him as he launched forward in his own attack, blood erupting from Hito as the blade slashed upwards across his chest. Nothing but a flesh wound, but one which would leave a scar. Akuhei could have done more, Hito would know this but turned to cast a genjutsu which simply failed against Akuhei's mental defences.

Looking around Hito's opponent looked a touch confused Oh... Genjutsu... I didn't expect you to know any of those. He said before strolling towards the boy, his blade flashing before him at a blinding speed One of the things I did was train my mind to its strongest. Genjutsu basically don't work on me anymore, unless you were someone like Hayata Shin you're best to not try that. Though then again perhaps you need to think about everything I have said in this exam.

Hito charged at Akuhei again, every strike he made was met by Akuhei's own. Every strike turned away as though it was nothing. Each time another gash opened up on in his own flesh.

None of the wounds were fatal, they were all perfect bites caused by a master swordsman who was toying with his opponent.

There was no way to win this fight.

Remembering these words, Hito stopped his fight. He bowed, keeping his eyes on the other. He would heed these words. Sheathing his sword and gathering himself, Hito repeated the words from before.

"Death is your payment." These were the words of the Bishamon religion, and the words of the combatants and of the temple. It was also Hito's acknowledgement of the opponents skill. Disregarding his own wounds that would turn to scars, Hito relaxed and took a small breather.

Akuhei's blade and arm controlling it were a blur before him, creating a wall of sharp steel that the young Hito would have no chance of penetrating. They hadn't exchanged blows for Akuhei was clean and hadn't even built up a sweat.

Hito stood there for a moment and it seemed as though he was in thought. Then bowed saying "Death is your payment".

The blade slowed and then stopped, slotting into its sheath with ease.

Nodding his acknowledgement Akuhei messed up Hito's hair as he walked past.

This boy has passed the Genin exam. He announced as mednin moved to heal the wounds on Hito.

The exam was over. Akuhei hoped that the lesson would stick with the boy, for he was sure that it was that lesson that Akira had wanted the boy to understand.

As the mednin came to heal him, he shrugged them off and away. He's keep his wounds for remembrance, and would allow them to heal naturally. As the other walked away, Hito waves his own farewell and thanks before doing the same. Hito had passed and become a Genin. Now he had to seek out Akira Saito. It was time.
