Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

There was a shuffling of papers at her desk in her newly provided room at the Shinobi Academy. She was excited and anxious at the same time. If there was one thing she had to do correctly, it was to guide these students on the right path so they wouldn't have to grow up to being the same monster that she grew up as. She needed to provide them with a choice and to teach them the proper morals befitting a noble shinobi from Kumogakure. There was no room for failure on her part; so no pressure! Nozomi removed the hat and parka that she normally wore, exposing the sleeveless, zip-up red turtleneck sweater. Upon her left breast was a bit of armor, mainly used by archers and other snipers as a form of protection for their forward-most facing part of their chest. Her massive Anti-Material Rifle leaned against the chalk-board leaving her with a pair of kunai strapped over her stomach, a large revolver strapped to her right hip, and a sword strapped to her left hip. Even in the academy, she had to remain ready in the event of chaos.

There was writing on the board. Careful, immaculate writing with the words:
Chalkboard said:
BASICS OF NINJUTSU CLASSInstructor: Kanagawa Nozomi
There wasn't a single smudge or a line out of place. It was, as if, she spent hours and hours making the presentation properly, even going through the lengths of completely washing the board when she made the mistake. She was expecting at least 2 students, more than she could ask for as a new, untested instructor, but every desk had a sheet of paper on it with pictorial representations of all of the basic handseal gestures. This would be something they could take home with them for studying.

Her heart throbbed inside her chest as she began to feel the pressure of her first day teaching. She can't screw up nor can she be responsible for creating a monster in the future. Everyone needed kindness and attention given to them. She took a deep breath in, holding it, before releasing slowly. Her eyes turned upwards towards the clock, noticing there was still 15 minutes remaining before class began. For now, she just waited.

Ninura stood just outside the classroom where she was going to learn. It was ninjustu, something that she should be great at, right? Well, if it has anything to do with sand, then yes, but other kinds of ninjustu? She has only practiced and mastered some of the basics.

The Sunaku had asked for her newfound friend, Yuzu to come with her, so that they both can learn a new thing or two about Ninjustu, but there was no sign of her just yet. With a sigh of reluctance, she opened the door and looked around the room. The first thing, or rather person she noticed, was a woman, she looked like she was ready to go to battle. She, also had kind of a sleeveless top on, though she didn't have a tie, like Ninura does.

The Sunaku, was wearing, black jeans, with a white sleeveless shirt, along with a red tie. On the side of her hip was the canteen, that used to belong to her father, that now holds her power. Sand. The canteen itself was unadorned, no actual decorations on it, not even a name, signature, or initials.

She took a look around the classroom to see pieces of paper on each desk, showing hand seals. Ninura has tried some, but none of which were actually tested in action. Plus, to her, it is somewhat harder to do, since she is more used to sand, with a simple thought, she could use her sand for many different things, that she might need done.

"H-hi Sensei." The Sunaku managed to stutter out.

The girl took a seat close to the front row, but left of the classroom. She read the chalk board, and the name that was on it read, Kanagawa Nozomi. And then that's when Ninura realized, she forgot to introduce herself. Quickly getting back up, she said quickly, "Sunaku Ninura, ready for class!" She didn't mean to yell, but she kind of was a little bit nervous.

Ninjutsu class! Just what she had been looking for to start making good on the promise she had given herself and in that vain, Ninura aswell. The sand girl actualy had been the one to call Yuzu here, though had she not, the Iai would have found her way here eventually alone - probably. For now though, they were going there seperately either ways and would only meet in class. This had given Yuzu some time to mentally prepare, but also wonder what they were going to learn, so far the sword fanatic had only learned a few basics from other classes, that is to say, they hadn't been that advanced yet. A degree of nervousness was to be expected from her. She did and still does work hard to improve, but Yuzu still doubts herself just a teensy tiny little bit as far as her abilities as a ninja go, as she hadn't yet had the chance to compare her abilities with what was expected of a ninja her age.

Eventually a few knocks could be heard on the door to the classroom that lesson was taking place in and just a moment later a blonde girl, wearing a light blue obi and a lack scarf around her neck entered the room. On her legs she wore black thigh highs and simple but durable boots. Her appearance looked as usual, but gave off a feeling of preparedness regardless. Compared to the other two people in the room, Yuzu was carrying less weapons, if one would conider a wooden Katana a weapon anyways. THough in the hands of a nanjirou that very likely counts as one. The Katana was just dangling from her hips and wasn't intended for real fighting, it was just that Yuzu was not allowed to carry an actual sword with her - regardless of if the academy would allow it, it was her family that said so.

Upon having entered, the little samurai made a little bow and greeted the sensei, "Good evening, Kanagawa sensei!" Proper as always she sat down in the front row after giving Ninura a little geeting in form of a nod. She wasn't hesitant in an way now that she was here, but she might seem a little stiff to the others as she had to behave properly with respect, such was her upbringing. She put her scarf to the side and took a first look at the sheet infront of her.

Late. Miya was late for her very first class and there was very little she could do about it. Not as though she hadn't tried, she had woken up early and prepared a light but healthy breakfast, laid clothes out the night before (a simple black kimono and sandals with socks), and had even reduced her morning maintenance to just two hundred brushes through her lustrous dark hair. Everything had been accounted for at home with her schedule... except for the walk to the academy itself. For any normal student, any normal child, it would have been a simple task, but for Miya it was an arduously long journey. Why did Cloud need to be built on a mountain or have so many stairs anyway?

Breathing as though she had just run directly to the academy from the village gate, Miya moved as quickly as she was able through the academy halls in search of the correct classroom. Even with all the extra time she had given herself there was still a pretty good chance the class could have been started without her in her absence, an event she was determined to avoid at all costs. After an additional attack minutes searching Miya found the classroom she was looking for and, after stopping to catch her breath to prevent her first introduction to the academy being passing out, slid open the door. Peeking meekly inside Miya saw that two students had arrived before her (no surprise there) and that the teacher was patiently waiting to start the class. Stepping inside she slid the door shut behind her, stopping for a moment to readjust the butterfly shaped hair clip holding her bangs up, and turned to the class.

"Yuutsu Miya present, thank you for having me," she said with a polite bow, "I hope I haven't held up the class, please forgive me Kanagawa-sensei."

After speaking Miya took a cautiously long glance around the room, noting how prepared everyone was and, more specifically, how unprepared she had been. Her tiny bag packed with a few writing utensils and small notebooks paled in comparison to the other students who had brought weapons. Picking a seat near the front (but not too close to the other girls) Miya looked over the sheet on her desk. All of the hand signs on the sheet were all ones she recognized from books in the library at home, but she hadn't taken much time to practice then on her own. Actually getting a chance to learn even the most basic ninja arts was equally terrifying and exciting, something Miya looked forward to with rapt silence as she waited for the teacher to speak.

Her heart started to beat rapidly within her chest as the students started to pour in. She didn't want to mess this up! As the students started to come in one-by-one, she just waved to each of them with a smile. She seemed to have an all-female cast for this class with hair colors rivaling a rainbow's. One girl of snowy-white hair wearing something relatively 'formal', another wearing a typical ninja garb with bright-pink hair, and finally the late one with black hair and a black kimono. The one in black apologized for her lateness, only for Nozomi to just eyeball her for a moment. "Don't be late again, that's your only freebie," she said before eventually turning her demeanor to a lighter one.

Now it was time for them to begin the class. Nozomi cleared her throat and began to speak, projecting her voice outwards. "Hello, class. As you can see on the board, my name is Kanagawa Nozomi. I am a Jounin in the Main Branch and I am here to teach you all the basics of Ninjutsu. As you all know, Ninjutsu is the most versatile combat style. While you have Taijutsu involving weapons," she said as she pointed out the massive rifle leaning against the board and the various weapons she had on her body. "And you also have Genjutsu which torments the mind. Ninjutsu, however, is the most chakra-heavy discipline. But with it, it is the most devastating method of attacking, protecting one's self (or others), or to confuse your opponents." she said before stepping out from behind the podium, placing one hand into another. She tried to hide her nerves from teaching this class.

"You all should see a sheet of paper in front of you. This is yours to keep and reference for the future. I know you all just took a seat, but I'd like you all to come down to the floor so we can practice some of the basic jutsu," she said as she simply waited for the students to come down to the floor before beginning her demonstration.

Ninura was happy that her friend had made it on time. Safe to say, they both made it here on time. That's when she noticed something. Yuzu seemed more... Formal in a sense. Not talking like they once did in the courtyard. Her stiffness and quietness speaks volumes. Was this what it is like to be from a family that expects such high standards from their young children?

They stayed sitting for a little bit, and Ninura was wondering what was happening, who they were waiting for. That's when another girl came in, she herself had black hair, and was dressed in a black kimino. She apologized for her lateness, but in all honesty, the young Sunaku wasn't mad at the other girl. She understands that sometimes people's lives get busy, maybe a bit too busy to think of time schedules.

Her thoughts were brought back to the present, when the teacher introduced herself. A Jounin if the Main Branch. Sounds cool to be that high up in ranking. Something to look forward to, if she ever wants to be a person who can change the world. The teacher talked about how Ninjustu is the most used type between the three, Ninjustu, Taijustsu, and Genjustu. For what it is worth, the amount of chakra used to make justsus, is equal to the power produced from chakra usage.

And then the teacher told them to stand up so that they can practice some justsus. Ninura did as she was told, and then asked, "So what kind of Ninjustu will we be practicing?"

Almost unaware that she was even doing it, some sand spilled out of the canteen and started to float by her. It wasn't until the little Sunaku noticed it after about five seconds, that she sent it back into the canteen and made sure the lid was on tight. "S-sorry about that." Ninura apologized. "I usually train with sand. It being part of my blood line."

Ninura knew she can trust Yuzu about her sand powers, and the canteen she holds close to her. She doesn't know how the teacher, or even the other girl is going to react to what she just did. She doesn't even think about her powers at times, and then the sand just, does stuff. Nothing really, just acts like her own protector. Oftentimes, before she met Yuzu, Ninura treated the sand she has, as an imaginary friend, a friend she never had.

Yuzu didn't really notice when the third girl entered. She was already mentally preparing for the lesson, so when the girl introduced herself an sat down, Yuzu ony gave her a glance out the side of her eyes. Not like she had no interest in meeting someone new, but even if Ninura was a hit, Yuzu didn't suddenly trust everyone to be a nice person. Miya for her Part didn't look like a bully though, rather she looked like someone who'd get bullied herself. Not because she looked bad, au contraire she looked pretty. But in the same vein, that was it, she was pretty but also weak looking. The Iai took her eyes off the girl after a short moment and focused them back on Miss Nozomi, who seemed ready to start her class. And indeed she was, after a short introduction. From what Yuzu gathered, Ninjutsu might be a little much for herself to rely on. Genjutsu wasn't up her alley to begin with as it seemed like too much trickery, but Ninjutsu might be too hard on her of it really cost as much chakra as she now thought it would. Yuzu on he part meanwhile expecte her Chakra reserves to be low, as noone in her Family had shown any affinity for it. She had another look over the paper on the desk, but looked up with a surprised expression, when the sensei told them to come down and to the front for some practice. Yuzu wasn't the first to stand up, she looked at Ninura doing so and decided that she had to get together and be as focused as she was supposed to be and everything would be fine. Jutsu sounded tough, but they were all students, so no biggie if she failed the first time, is what she told herself and got in line at the front. She avoided saying anything at the sand her friend had let free and instead waited for their task to be explained. She definetely wasn't about to ask for it though, she herself was more the type to wait and see before trying anything reckless or uncalled for, not to mention that she didn't want the sensei to get angry at her or annoyed. Yuzu was a little nervous and felt like grabbing onto her wooden sword, but remained calm and waiting.

Miya was in the middle of mentally going over the signs on the sheet when the teacher began to speak. She was detailing her role in the village and explaining what each type of jutsu's general capabilities were. These were all things she already knew of course, but hearing them from a teacher had so much more impact than reading the pages from a book. Miya knew that there were as many different styles of fighting as there were birds in the sky and that even gaining a good understanding would be a monumental undertaking let alone trying to master even one if them. Of the three types of jutsu it sounded like ninjutsu had the most general usefulness to offer which seemed like a good starting point. Miya was so caught up in her own head that she nearly missed her teacher starting to speak again.

I know you all just took a seat, but I'd like you all to come down to the floor so we can practice some of the basic jutsu."

Come to the floor... as in the front of the class?! Miya's heart began to beat as though it were ready to burst from her chest, she hadn't even been in class ten minutes and she was anyway going to be at the front if the room trying to figure out how to perform ninja techniques. Looking to either side she saw that the other two girls had already stood up and made their way to the front of the room, Miya would be the last to follow the correct instruction... again. Getting up carefully, she pushed in her seat and made her way to the front of the room absentmindedly clutching her sheet of seals in her hand. When she got there she stood quietly, alternating between doing her best to give her teacher her undivided attention and fidgeting awkwardly trying to go over the hand seals on the sheet she just noticed she was still holding.

"It's a simple jutsu known as the Transformation Jutsu," she said as she flipped through a series of hand signs before being covered in a thick, white smoke. Once the smoke vanished, she appeared with a fair complexion, beautiful short blue hair and a pretty face. She took on the appearance of the Main Branch Sennin, Kagetsu Yuii. Nozomi, disguised as Yuii, spoke; her voice remaining unchanged, even through the use of her trickery. "This is the Transformation Jutsu. A ninjutsu that temporarily changes your appearance to look like someone else. I am currently looking like the Main Branch Sennin, Kagetsu Yuii-sama. At least from what I can remember," she said before forming the same set of handseals and another plume of white smoke appeared around her. As the smoke vanished, she returned to her usual appearance.

She did the series of handseals, once again, instructing them how to perform it. She showed them exactly how to hold their hands, even giving them multiple angles to view the handseal. She urged them to mimic her actions. "The handseal, itself, isn't hard to manipulate. Handseals are a medium for your chakra flow," she commented before turning to look towards the Sunaku. "Unless, of course, you can manipulate elements as Ninura said, without the use of handseals. Those kind of jutsu are a bit different as they are innate abilities that only require chakra manipulation," she said in response to the child's comment about not needing handseals.

"Once you have gotten the hang of using that handseal, you're going to manipulate chakra through it until your jutsu executes. Try not to break out of the final handseal until after your jutsu is ready to use," she said as she took a step back for a moment. "Now, show me, transform into one of your classmates," she said as she turned her eyes towards Miya, who seemed extremely nervous about doing all of this in the public eye. "It's alright, nobody is going to judge you, okay?" she said with a radiant, comforting smile to her student. "Just relax and stay loose."

"Oh." Ninura's voice trailed off. A nonelemental justsu. She herself has studied some justsus, but never really messed with nonelemental.

She was wrapped up in her own thoughts when smoke had filled the room. The Sunaku coughed and waved the smoke away, and looked at her teacher. But in her place, was another woman? She shook her head, confused, until the woman spoke, the voice that belongs to her teacher. She then explained how she transformed into the main branch Sennin. And at the end, she said, from what she can remember.

More smoke appeared, and coughing ensued, until the smoke dissipated and the teacher was back to her regular self. She then started to slowly go through the handseals, so that they would be able to learn. Talking about how they are mediums for chakra. And then she brought up Ninura talking about some ninjustu don't require handseals, since they come from unique abilities that a person might have, or aquired. Because of her name being called, she kind of shy away. And the only solution when she is in the front if the classroom? Sand popped out of her canteen and floated, up to her face, acting as only a visible barrier, so that she can think.

The teacher, was telling them to transform into one of their classmates. Luckily, Ninura did manage to see how to do the handseals. The sand separated only enough for one of her eyes to peek over at her two classmates. Yuzu and Miya. Who to turn into? She really didn't want to get either wrong, in case if that might make them mad.

She started to make the necessary hand seals, still keeping her eyes on her two classmates, not knowing who to turn into. And before she knew it, she was on the last handseal. And smoke filled the area. Her canteen fell to the ground, sand still coming out of it. The sand itself, floated by her. But what's this? Why does the room feel smaller? Why do Yuzu and Miya look smaller?

And Nozomi, her teacher, was almost the exact height now. Curiously, Ninura looked in the windows to try and see her reflection. And then... Oh no... "Eep!" Came out of the woman that supposedly looks like Nozomi. It was obvious that she wasn't Nozomi, since the height was a little bit off. And the eyes, they were ruby red, and not the color they should have been.

Once Ninura realized who she transformed into, she turned and did an apologetic bow to the real Nozomi. "I'm sorry! I panicked!"

Yuzu listened to the explanation given to them without taking her eyes off the sensei. So transformation was what they were going to learn, huh? It wasn't that Yuzu was already well versed in it, but she had actually already seen it performed before a few times so it wasn't all new territory. The person their teacher transformed to, was unknown to Yuzu, but hearing that it was the Sennin of the main branch, there was a chance for her to actually meet the woman, as Yuzu's path would probably tak that direction if she managed to absolve the academy. She for her part was glad that the sennin was such a pretty and kind looking woman. Anyways, Yuzu kept watching miss Nozomi to imprint the handseals into her head before even thinking about trying anything out for herself. She took her time to do the handseals a few times - and then some more - before even attempting to try to transform, but before she could do so, one of her classmates already did so! It was Ninura who had attempted to transform, but it didn't seem to have worked quite as she had imagined to as she one transformed into their sensei and two, didn't quite match the appearence of said woman.

The young Iai took another dep breath, before giving the other girl to her side a good long look, trying not to pay attention to the panicking Ninura. Gladly, panic or nervousness wasn't a problem for the swordswoman as self control was a thing that had been taught to her for years, ever since she was little and focusing also came natural to her. After remembering the looks of Miya, she went in to form handsigns again, this time to actually use the jutsu. A cloud of smoke puffed up and just after a moment, a small figure stepped out of it. For Yuzu, the transformation had worked out as intended. She was glad it had, manipulating chakra was a thing she had tried to get better at and achieving this was a big step forward for her. That said, she now looked much weaker then before and was also far smaller, so she decided to release the jutsu after only a short while to change bak to her own appearance. It wasn't like she was out of chakra, but that bit of transformation ha cost her quite a bit, she could feel that. She wondered if it was possible to increase ones chakra. Though in her happiness about succeeding, she didn't quite pay attention to class.

Alright, you can do this... Miya thought to herself as she studied her teacher's hand movements. She closed her eyes and imagined how her hands should look as they formed each seal, noting how the fingers were placed and the hands held together. After she was confident in having memorized the combination she tried it herself once or twice normally and on the third attempt there was a sudden puff of smoke, clearing to reveal.... Miya. She had been so caught up in getting the hand seals correct that she forgot to look to her classmates for how to change her appearance.

Sighing bleakly, she looked her two classmates up and down attempting to determine which she should have an easier time copying (and which might be least offended if she botched the process.). Quietly determining that Ninura would be the best candidate, Miya tried the hand seals again, this time to a still imperfect, but much greater effect. At a glance she looked like Ninura, but instead retained her normal ultra pale complexion and dark hair. After a few seconds of holding her transformation Miya released it, breathing deeply as though she'd just run a great distance... though this time in a more figurative sense. Even if she housed an ample supply of chakra it seemed that making use of it would take a great deal of effort until she had undergone more training.

After she was done Miya's gaze drifted towards the ground, a little embarrassed that she had done so poorly in comparison to her classmates, though she was also quite proud to have done it at all. Still at the front of the room she waited for further instruction from her teacher.

Nozomi watched as the group of students performed their handseals; one-by-one they started to transform and then return to their original form. It seemed the little bit of chakra use was a bit too much for them to bear, so she didn't get annoyed by them not holding the jutsu for too long. Ninura ended up turning into Nozomi, herself. This caused Nozomi to look her with a tilted head for a moment in confusion. It was then that, the obvious prodigy of the class, Yuzu, decided to transform into Miya. She nodded her head in approval. It was then Miya's turn to take a shot at it. Her first try ended in failure, but perseverance paid off, and her second attempt ended in a spectacular victory. Nozomi nodded hr head to Miya and cracked a little smile, aiming it at her. She reached out and placed a hand upon her head. "You all did great work. While I am flattered that you transformed into me, remember that following directions, even under pressure, is very important to a shinobi," she said before removing her hand from Miya's head.

She turned her attention towards Yuzu and smiled brightly to her. "Very well done. You seem to have quite the affinity for Ninjutsu," she said before turning her attention back to Miya, squatting in front of her and placed a hand upon her shoulder. "What you did was remarkable. You failed the first time and kept going until you succeeded. That is the mark of a good shinobi. Learning from your mistake is better than giving up," she said before standing up on her own two feet and took a few steps backwards to give the students a bit of breathing room. "What Miya had displayed in something you all should think about. Even if you mess up during a mission, you keep going. Giving up will only lead to dead teammates," she said as she turned her eyes back towards Miya. "Keep at it, and you will make a great leader some day," she said before clearing her throat, stringing some of her hair out from in front of her eyes.

"The transformation jutsu is useful for different things such as infiltration and even confusing enemies on the battlefield. You can transform into one of your enemies and your enemies will have a hard time differentiating between you and your opponent. Just keep in mind that the person you have transformed into will know the difference so you won't be able to fool them. This is particularly impressive during an uneven battle. Even a lot of elite shinobi have used this jutsu in combat. Just because it is a beginner jutsu doesn't mean it isn't viable to keep yourself alive," she said before clearing her throat.

"Well, this class is quite short, but do any of you have any questions?"

Ninura couldn't be any more embarrassed at what had happened. She didn't mean to transform into the teacher... It just happened. On top of that, it seemed the other two students, seemed to excel in a transformation. How... How can a girl who can easily control sand, not be able to do a simple transformation technique?

The Sunaku took a deep breath. She already knew the handseals, as she had done them before. But now, she can't freak out. Nervousness was replaced with determination, as Ninura looked at Yuzu. She was listening to the teacher talk, but she has to show improvements. Now.

With a simple wink at Yuzu, Ninura slowly made the necessary hand seals, keeping a close eye on detail, to be able to try her best to look exactly like Yuzu. Poof! Smoke appeared around Ninura, and once it had dissipated, was another Yuzu! Same height, check, same hair length, check. Eye color, the fake Yuzu took a look in the window reflection and back at the real Yuzu. Check.

She dropped the transformation and looked at the other girl. Miya. Nozomi did talk about how to not stop, even if one were to mess up. Ninura now has shown that she can do the transformation... But she wasn't going to stop there. She needs to know that this wasn't just a beginner's luck type of thing.

Miya. Ninura studied the girl, taking in all of the details. Slowly, the Sunaku went through the necessary handseals once more. Another poof! And smoke dissipated once more, where Ninura once stood. Another Miya. Dark purple hair, that matches the eyes in terms of how dark they are. Small build of body. Pale. Hair over one eye, as the other eye was uncovered with a butterfly shaped hair clip keeping that bit of hair up. Looking at Miya, and at the reflection of the windows, Ninura was satisfied. She dropped the justsu once more, but then felt kind of drained.

The little Sunaku sat down in a chair close by as she kept listening to the teacher talk. She came to a conclusion of asking them all if any of them have any questions. And Ninura raised her hand. Once she was picked to ask a question, she will say, "Miss Nozomi. How would you go about trying to condition yourself so you won't feel drained. In terms of using chakra."

Yuzu felt really proud at the little praise she had gotten. She had done it! Succeeded on the first try! It didn't matter that she had done better then the other two, to her it ony mattered that she had done it, she was not a failure unlike everyone expected of her. Her teacher had even said she showed an affinity for Ninjutsu. Yus this was it, her hard work was showing! Now she had to keep it up atleat until graduation and then find her way as a ninja. She was only pulled out of her thoughts when the sand wielding ninja next to her started to perform Handseals again and started to transform int Yuzu first and then Miya. Yuzu couldn't help but clap her hands for her friend. "Ohh! I knew you could do it! Good job Ninura!" This only made Yuzu further recognize that she had to try hard to not fall behind and miss Nozomi said something similiar, to never give up because it would mean that her future teammates could die because of her. Yuzu proceeded to sit down aswell and followed her friend's question as to how better handle chakra usage, or rather maybe asking for a way to increase it. Yuzu nodded and chimed in, "I would like to know aswell, sensei!" She looked down at the paper on the table showing off the different handsigns. Maybe they were the reason? Or maybe her concentration wasn't good enough yet... She couldn't tell but that's why she was all the more paying attention.

Miya's cheeks flushed, turning her usually pale complexion an uncommonly bright shade of pink. A great leader? Miya's head was spinning, she had never been praised so highly before, and all because she just hadn't given up after her first failure. Life was full of failures big and small, if Miya gave up after something so simple as making a mistake on her first attempt at something then she would be a pretty poor excuse for a future Cloud shinobi.

"Even if you mess up during a mission, you keep going. Giving up will only lead to dead teammates."

Those particular words shocked Miya back to reality, the truth of the situation was that if mistakes were made on the battlefield then she or her teammates might not be coming home at all. She slowly looked around at her two classmates, could she forgive herself if she were their leader and her failure ended with their deaths? Would she be able to face their families, or anyone in the village for that matter?

The illusionary mantle of leadership hung with a very real heaviness on her shoulders. Even if she were just a student now, Miya would have to take every class, every lesson with the same seriousness as it deserved as it trained her to be someone capable of keeping the lives of her team and her fellow villagers safe. Working up the courage to speak, Miya managed to squeak out a question of her own.

"Kanagawa-sensei... is it common... for Cloud ninja to not make it home from missions?"

As much as it were a grim question that she could be quite content not knowing the answer to, it was something she felt needed to be asked.

Ninura tried, twice again, to perform the Transformation jutsu to great success. It seemed that her talk of determination and 'never giving up' actually worked. She clasped her hands together in approval and gave the three of them a big smile. "Very well done. It seemed you three have started the road to mastery in using that jutsu. Now, I'm going to give you all homework. I want you all to practice this jutsu, transforming yourself into family members or even your friends outside of class. Do not use this jutsu in any malicious manner. Like all weapons, it can be a tool for the good of your community or it can be seen as a weapon of mass destruction; all depends on intent," she said with a nod.

it was then then a question was posed to her; one about how to improve your chakra. She looked up for a moment to think about the answer to this question before looking back towards her students. "Some people are born with the ability to have massive chakra pools or spending less chakra when they perform a jutsu. The way I found best to improve your ability to control chakra is like working out. You can imagine your chakra being a muscle. You'll need to exercise it and use it to strengthen it. What I did when I was younger was use my chakra until near exhaustion before calling it quits for the day. Then I try again the day after and the day after that until my chakra reserves and my ability to manipulate chakra grew exponentially. Like everything else, it just requires practice, patience, and knowing when to rest during training," she commented.

She ran a hand through her raven-black hair and shrugged her shoulders. "Using your chakra smart is also another way to not become exhausted when the time comes to. Throwing around the strongest jutsu usually isn't the smartest idea, especially if you are fighting someone who is playing defensively. People have no problems playing around a reckless fighting style to just exhaust their opponent's chakra reserves; swooping in for the kill when their opponent is defenseless." she said, finally figuring her answer was more than adequate.

She was then asked another question, this time by Miya. She nodded her head. "Sadly, yes. It's a reality that is inevitable. Splitting the group or someone making a stupid decision without their team's backup, or even an ambush can lead to dead shinobi. Due to the nature of my fighting style, I'm usually stuck in the backlines, separated from the front-line assault. I've almost died on several occasions due to being separated from my team with no real escape. Death just happens in our line of work," she said, not even going to mention her lost teammates when she was a chuunin; her teammates ranging between 13 and 17 years old.

She shook her head to try to relieve herself of those memories. She just smiled at the three. "Well, you all have your homework for the day. I will be hosting a Taijutsu class tomorrow; you are all welcome to join," she said before walking back towards her podium and cleared her throat. The bell rang and Nozomi looked up at the clock. That was a quick class. "Don't forget about the handouts. Practice those handseals without applying chakra!" she tried to say, trying to speak over the second-half of the bell's rings.

The little Sunaku felt accomplished finally. Her best friend and Miss Nozomi both were happy that Ninura was able to go through the transformation justsu, not once, but twice and done right. And then Miss Nozomi started to talk about trying to transform into other family members, and friends. Just try not to actually use the justsu in a malicious manner. Though the girl doesn't know exactly how that it can be turned to be a weapon of mass destruction.

Ninura kept listening on as the teacher talked about how some people are born with a lot of chakra, or having an ability to use less chakra when doing justsus. It kind of made her think back to her blood line. Sunaku. She's sure that there are sand justsus, that people can master, but none of which can be on the same kind of caliber as a Sunaku who uses sand with just a simple thought. It kind of did make sense. But as also what Miss Nozomi said, it is possible to train yourself to be more proficient in training your actual chakra, so, in the end of the day, you can have more chakra than you did before.

And then Miya asked about if some people didn't make it home from missions. This, in fact saddened Ninura. Her father... He was no ninja, but a businessman. Died in an accident, they all have said to her... Of course, Miss Nozomi's answer was a hit of reality for the group of girls. But this is something that Ninura especially knows. Lost in her own thoughts, only the canteen by her side snapped her out of her zoning out, thinking about her father. The canteen was shaking, the sand reacting to her emotions. She realized that she was starting to cry, tears that have started to form. The little Sunaku wiped her tears away and took a deep breath. Calming down, just enough for the sand in the canteen to slow to a stop.

She looked back at her two classmates. "If you all want, we can study during lunch." Ninura said with a smile. Though, in reality, she kind of wanted to be alone for a while. Whether they followed or not, she goes to the cafeteria, eats there for a bit, then heads straight home.

Miya looked up at her teacher with silent wonder, taking in everything she said with an intense interest. Learning things in person had a much more satisfying feeling than just reading about theory and form in books. She was particularly interested in the way chakra worked, Miya knew that the citizens of lightning country had a deficiency in chakra from reading the history books. Maybe one day she would be able to work towards finding out why it was that she and so few others were able to utilize theirs. That said, it was her teacher's answer to her own question that had the most profound impact.

Death just happens in our line of work.

Miya shuddered at the thought, the gnawing fear that her own inability, her mistakes could end up getting the people close to her killed. Her family, her new friends and classmates, their safety was relying on her becoming stronger. They were all relying on her training to not just be competent, she needed to begin excelling at her studies and training her body into one that could withstand real combat, one that could keep everyone safe.

"Thank you sensei, I'll do my best to become the kind of shinobi who doesn't let their teammates down. I'm not letting anyone die on my watch..."

With a polite bow Miya exited the room quietly. She should have liked to eat and study with Ninura, but ultimately decided that starting her personal training would have to be her biggest priority. Maybe tomorrow she would get up early and go for a walk...
