Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

This particular night was going to be exciting for the young boy. It was so, only because today was his first C Rank assignment! Although, he did like the simple things with the D and E ranks but, weren’t these to be more fun? He would soon find out, today’s mission was a bodyguard assignment. Fair enough, deterring trouble as a ninja shouldn’t be too difficult despite the fact he was just an eight year old academy student. That didn’t matter to the boy at all, not in the slightest. He rolled up the scroll with the mission details, tucked it at his waist, and crossed his arms.

He was the only person to belittle himself the most, getting his thoughts together he proceeded through town until at the venue. It was a tavern, usually people would get to drunk and start gambling, and that in itself would lead a more variety of mess the owner could just simply, not deal with it. It was job to maintain the upkeep of the entire place, if anyone were to offer any physical friction, well, his loss. Simple enough, Shouyu thought that a hard stare, but also a nice smile would help invite people to come and enjoy themselves, hopefully didn’t need to make an example to prove his point.

At the Venue, Shouyu greeted the owner, and staff, introducing himself and they even seemed to have heard of him and his small deeds for the others, which is why he was recommended for the job despite his youthfulness. The kid grinned shyly, and thanked the staff. What made it cool was that they even had their own uniform him! A dark kimono with bleeding cherry blossoms that was sure to stand out, and strike fear into those wanting to cause turmoil in the tavern.

The night started off smooth, people flooded in early but only for meals in general at first. The place was bustling with conversation, it was hard to keep up your own in a normal tone with someone, unless speaking directly into their ear. That was how the servants kept in contact, always moving and stopping for the slightest second to relay a message from one, to the other. They even contacted him in that way, to direct Shouyu to stand by tables that were growing too loud, and it did in fact, calm things down with him walking around the place.
He kept a stern face, waving at whoever greeted him, bowing his head gently, nodding, showing emotion and that he wasn’t some trained killing machine but here for the general safety of the public. The night dragged on into the later hours where other shops began to close, but at this time the tavern would begin to serve small plates, and bottles of sake. The owner did this because it was always good for money, and a place where the older folks can escape, catch up, and enjoy themselves. But every now and then, the young guys will come around and have a bit too much, and get overwhelmed by their drunken ego.

It didn’t seem like tonight was going to be any trouble. Shouyu had enough time to even help carry some extra dishes to the back, serve a few plates and still maintain his surveillance of the area. The venue at first at the switch from dinner to late night, vacated except a few several tables, and refilled with a new crowd, of new faces and more than likely, different backgrounds and reasons why they have come at this time. Yes, true enough, these were the younger adults, seemingly getting off work and wanting to enjoy some late night grub and drinks.

Even this crowd seemed okay, they noticed Shouyu immediately and some of even eyed him the wrong way, his response was the same cold, staggering gaze. They eventually all looked it away, maybe even distraught to be stared down by some kid. Even then, it was his job, and Shouyu expected these adults would be mindful of his duty and respect that. The night continued until closing hours, most of the tables had left and were getting cleaned off except two. Both tables a crowd of three finishing up their last cups, all the while just staring at the old man who owned the place. Shouyu escorted them out after they finished with rather respectful parting. The old man, asked if Shouyu could escort him home, of which, he happily agreed to.

The walk home with the old man seemed rather tiresome for him. In the beginning the walked a moderate pace and enjoyed some healthy conversation, getting to know each other. The old man was once a shinobi but retired early because of family and sought his meaning as a father. This made Shouyu pause, recall his own father who to turned away from the ninja life to cater to his family. He told the old man of his Hyuuga heritage and that he was half breed, causing conflict for his Father since the clan only condoned pure bred Hyuugas.

Eventually the talk lightened up to less pressing matters, but even that breaking the ice made the walk home much easier and seemingly faster for the both of them. All the while, Shouyu kept his ears attentive for anything and his gaze searching the perimeter constantly. The old man seemed to enjoyed this, maybe he didn’t get to talk with people so much. Shouyu was glad he could help.

They began to laugh and talk about a few of the tables who were playing drunken games and making fools of themselves in front of close friends. The old man explained, that was the reason he loved his tavern so much. It was to see the joy and relaxation in the peoples’ faces as they had silly fun. He said it made him feel young, and Shouyu badgered him calling him a fountain of youth.

The man turned and looked at Shouyu, standing outside of his house now he thanked the boy a few times and they both bowed at each other in respect. In their last exchange of words, the old man was rather selective with his parting message. He said that he saw in Shouyu, what he could never see in himself, and that was the fearlessness of a true shinobi. These words radiated in his heart as the old man bid him farewell, and he also gave an old thumbs up as stumbled into his house, locking the door behind himself. Shouyu stood, examined the area one last time for about fifteen minutes, ensuring old man’s safety, smiled and walked his way back home.
