One moment, you're in the world you know, with the people you know. In the next - you've left all of that behind forever.
That's what it's like to be taken through a rift - a tear in the fabric of reality, one that serves as a bridge between worlds. Rifts can manifest anywhere. They can snatch up the living, and through some unknown means, even revive the dead. Once they bring you to this world, however, there's one thing most of its residents will tell you: there's no way back. Yet, anyway.
In this strange new world, there'll be a lot to contend with. Elements of other worlds bleed into this one, molding the environment like clay. Rifters from all sorts of different places clash over their contrasting goals and ideals. The world's natives are not particularly friendly, unappreciative of the world they know being disruptive, and oftentimes downright intolerant of the emerging rifter culture.
Try and stand on your own, or forge connections with those you share common ground with. Either way, one thing is certain: everything you once knew has been left behind, and the future is uncertain.
