She could hardly believe the state of her homeland. So many things were destroyed. The temple of the One King was in complete ruin, as was the Kazekage Tower. The last time she was here was shortly after it fell. She shivered minutely as she recalled meeting that Cabal woman, Naganisa. Remembering the scent of snakes all around the woman was enough to make her feel uneasy once more.
Kimi knelt down and picked up a piece of rubble the size of her fist. Could it even be rebuilt? Would they stay in this underground cavern? Or would they try to reclaim the surface? Kimi just shook her head. Even if they wanted to build "upstairs" it would take years to figure a way to either calm or divert the diamond sands.
Katsu and Kora were not with her this night. Both were at home sleeping off the training Kisa put them through during the day. As she thought about her girls she decided that maybe she should start heading home. She looked over the area once more. Why had the Cabal done this? There was so much destruction and for what? To test the village's resolve? To take advantage of their isolation, their seclusion? Narrowed eyes glared at the rubble. She stood and let the piece fall from her hand. She turned her back on the ruins and started walking home.
Before she could get too far, however, she stopped and turned to the wall whereupon Naganisa had perched. In a show of solidarity, she flipped it the bird. Kimi held it for a few moments before she started to shake. Her knees gave way and she landed hard on the ground. So many people had died and where was she? Forced into hiding by her father. Sure, she trained and studied during her own seclusion, but she hadn't been able to use her hard won skills in fighting or in healing. Well, she had used them once.
Her father had visited her one night with a very large scroll. The scroll of clan secrets and told her to read it by the end of the week. In the beginning, the scroll bored her. It talked about the fact that they were indeed distantly, very very distantly, related to the Inuzukas. Their clan was originally from the land of Fire where they learned to climb the trees like their feline companions. They had moved to Suna after a rather nasty fight with the wolven branch of Inuzuka. Their entire sub-sect and menagerie had left the green lands for brown sand. On their journey, they encountered a being unlike any they had seen before. A monstrous tiger with power unimaginable was fighting a giant serpent. They small clan watched the fight in its entirety until the tiger finally won out, breaking the snake's jaw with a powerful swipe and then severing its spine with a ferocious growling bite just behind its head. The tiger was not without injury and fell to the ground, panting hard.
The greatest healer of their group, a woman with tiger companions, walked up to the great beast and chuffed at it, almost cooing that everything would be okay. The rest of the clan could hardly watch as the growling, injured beast allowed the woman to heal it. She drew poison from the bites and gently prodded the beast's own chakra to heal itself. When she was finally done, the woman she was shaking from the contact with such malevolent chakra. The beast stood and growled, "For your compassion for this demon, I gift my power to you and your line." The beast nosed her stomach and disappeared. No one knew for some time what exactly happened, not until a great threat tried to destroy their clan. The woman used her new found abilities to protect her people. Surrounded by a cloak of golden chakra, she devastated the threat and tore up the surrounding landscape. The demon was passed from grandmother to granddaughter or mother to daughter. A list of names and dates graced the scroll. She saw her great-grandmother's name and then her own. Apparently she was now the container of the great tiger demon, and her father wanted her to start on her training. Needless to say, Kimi hadn't been happy. She punched and kicked him all the while growling herself. Why would she want to use the power of a demon? Couldn't it potentially harm her patients? Malevolent chakra tends to kill and poison, not heal and build.
Kimi hung her head in her hands and started to cry silently. What would she do if she had to give up healing? The story said that every host was a great healer, but what if something was different for her? She knew how to heal already, but what if she became overwhelmed one day and tried to heal too close to chakra exhaustion? Would she accidentally harm her patient? How was she to know how to control the other being's chakra, especially since it was potentially so much larger than her own core? So distracted was she, she didn't even smell someone creep up behind her. She still didn't notice anyone was there until a sweet smelling cloth was pressed over her mouth and nose. She tried to hold her breath and fight but the person pinned her arms. She eventually had to breathe. The next thing she knew was darkness and the sensation of teleportation jutsu.
