Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Some people lived in houses. Some people lived in apartments. Other people lives in shacks, and ruled over those on the streets. The word house had no meaning, if one did not have a home. The word "Complex" was something that the blind Hashigaki was more familiar with than most. Kanashimi Complex was a massive series of gardens, bedrooms, and kitchens where an entire family of sightless Shinobi resided. One of the, though, was different.

A totally bandaged being stood awkwardly by the gates of the complex garden. Not a single part of her mummified body could be seen but her lips that had a funny color on the far right side of them, and the top of her head where wavy black hair spilled out of the bandages down to her shoulders. Her body was shameful to her, and shameful to her clan.

A loose medical belt hang from her waist with the usual supplies and a small pouch tied shut with a piece of rope-- sand. A small bag of sand stayed resided on her hip. Slowly sitting on the ground, covered with experimental grass, the 6'2" monster ran her left hand against the tips of her toes on her left foot. The right side of her body was limp, and didn't appear to even react to the prickling cold of the city.

The world was silent. The feeling of desperate need for sound began to well up in Itami's throat as she leaned against the wall of the complex. On the other side was the street of the rest of the residential area. Few people walked it at this time of night--even though night was slightly irrelevant to the dwellers.

Running her left hand, covered in bandages, through the experimental grass, the young woman sang a few soft words with incredible power. An entrancing lullaby that was sang at a hush. The Hashigaki's voice was her weapon, her power, her sentimental sound. Sound was the ought most precious to the woman who could not feel the right side of her charred body, to the blind, to the ugly. Itami did not speak in public, nor did she sing, but feeling slightly comfortable and alone, she allowed herself to utter the hushed lullaby quietly to herself to comfort her dark thoughts.

'Hush child, the darkness will rise from the deep and carry you down into sleep...'

~Come back home children, to where the heart is~

Home is where the heart is they say. Could this mean that where Sunagakure was now was not truly where there hearts were? Or did it matter that even though they were underground they weren't in their hearts? Does a village's location define them? What could truly be said about such ideals? It never made sense to Chou, he never cared too much for his exact place in underground, he only dreamt of the day where he could walk above ground, on the first men's land without a deadly contraption to hold him down. He wondered about the First Men constantly. Who they were? How they lived? Things they knew? He wanted to experience the same feelings they did when they walked Mother Suna's land but this, was not it. Maybe just maybe they were meant to break free of this ground one day and fix their home. Who knew, Chou sure didn't but his drive to "know" is what would push him. It's why he would leave the comfort of his content home underground and keep searching for answers to the next step. It's why he studied so hard in the academy, it's what pushed him... But a man couldn't do jack sh*t on an empty stomach. This is what led the shinobi back to the residential zones.

He was absolutely starving and this wasn't going to do. At this rate his tanned skin would turn pale. His black hair would go gray and his hazel eyes well they'd be lost forever. If he didn't eat death could be sitting right around the corner! No amount of black jackets would save him from that fate."I don't understand why that woman thinks it's a good idea to stock up on damned low carb snacks. The things aren't really even low on carbs! The whole world is just one big lie waiting to be shattered by a real ninja like me who will speak their minds and tell the world how they feel. Oh yes those real fruit juices!? They aren't real fruit. Those tasty little snacks? Made with lard. That water you drink bottled by company "Paradise"? Made with the tears of orphans. Hell yeah I'll expose the world and make them all give me their good stuff for free!" Chou stopped his rants as he realized he was speaking louder with each instance. No one is really out at night too much (If you really could even tell what night was). He had nothing to be wary of. With a sigh of relief Chou continued his walk back to the complex. His home, where his heart should be. The three story rectangle structure where his family resided. He was ready to enter the place and immediately beg his mother, aunt, somebody to cook for him. It would be absolutely amazing if they would. Maybe they would make pasta, or a roast, or some worm-meat!. His mind wandered for a bit as he continued walking thinking of food when something broke his train of thought.

There was a murmur, for what it was worth it was beautiful but he couldn't make out any words. No just the sound like the ending of something or a mutter but it sounded so pretty. Chou looked around and as he did his eyes would soon rest upon a person draped wrapped in bandages in front of a gate of sorts. She seemed pre-occupied with something but he wasn't sure what. Part of him said to keep walking and get some food but another side, a stronger side, said to approach the bandaged person. As he did he wondered if this person was even alive because they seemed lifeless. As he approached he saw black hair and a pair of lips with an odd color on the right side of them. Chou stood for a moment watching the assumed girl before even saying anything... but how do you approach a bandaged person, hell even her eyes were bandaged how could he begin a conversation with a person like that? Chou exhaled slowly and then said "Are you alright?" Simple yet quick seemed to be the way to go at least.

A presence began to lurk around in the darkness, and the voice stopped murmuring to listen. Her body froze and her left hand clenched hard on the metalloid-grass and tore some of it out as the being stopped near her, staring, as they all did. Her breath slowly sucked in as he spoke, as though she was reviving from some sort of painful death, standing quickly as she did so. Her toes exposed, now. The right ones a sickly black and red color, just as the right side of her lips were. She turned to face the being, that she identified as a male human by his voice. She gave a quick nod, the metalloid-grass falling from her bandaged hands.

The tension began to rise between them as the anti-social, semi-mute, blind freak took a slow step towards him, her right foot dragging slightly. With her inability to be able to feel anything on the right side of her body, she had to drag her foot a little above the ground so she knew where the ground was, and wouldn't tip over.

Her hand reached down to the medical belt that was loosely hanging from around her waist as she opened it and used the chakra flow to control it to spell out the phrase, in sand, in the air:

"A R E Y O U ?"

Itami was painfully aware that he was asking if she was severely injured, why she was covered in bloodied and dirt-covered bandages, why she was alone--and other rather personal questions-- but she didn't know what he was wearing without touching him or standing near something that emitted forces of air, so she could hear the clothes ripple against the other fabric. But instead, she had to assume that he could look just as bad, or better off.

Her teeth came forward and bit gently on her bottom lip and pulled it slightly into her mouth to show hesitation, for it was rare that people approached her willingly without despicable reasoning.

The girl draped in bandages, began to stir as if she was ripped from her process. Chou's body stirred and his muscles tensed as if he was preparing to enter a stance. He hoped she didn't go all bat shit crazy on him because fighting at this point would suck and he'd be likely to pulse energy at her right away. He had never been in an open street fight furthermore using his "jutsu" because of it's nature, but that'd be the best type to use in a situation of restraint. If only he knew how to control it completely. As she rose her height became apparent and she slightly towered Chou. Now this was becoming alarming because he wasn't sure of her intent yet. Come on, say something dammit. Don't have me all nervous and tense like this you amazon bandage woman. Just say anything please. One foot dragged it's forward and then she moved the rest of her body. The woman before him then reached down for something and as she did Chou's right hand moved behind his back, a small invisible force would surround it. He eyed her suspiciously now, his heart beat increasing and then sand rose. The thumping in his chest would become more rapid, as the sand began to swirl mid air. Is this her strike!? As he prepared to rock out with his invisible force, the words "Are you" appeared mid air. Chou confused, stopped for a moment and dispersed his energy quickly as he gathered it. His heart beat slowed down as the realization of her being mute arose to his head.

The girl was just trying to communicate not attack him, this was nice to know at least. A sigh of relief escaped from his lips as he held his chest for a moment. Well I almost f*ked up royally. She was just trying to speak to me. No harm done there I need to be more careful heh. Chou cleared his throat before answering the bandaged amazon."Yeah I'm just peachy... well actually I'm hungry as a anorexic sandworm that just realized it was actually never fat, just a freakishly large creature and suddenly came across what food was.... Yeah I think that or a Akamichi after fasting in the desert are the only two things to describe my level of hunger."He stopped his pointless rants about food and looked the girl up and down. With her size and control over sand you'd think she could overcome most things, what could have hurt her this bad to the point her body is wrapped. Maybe that odd coloring is a burn of some sort? What if her whole body is charred.

He stopped staring at her body and made his way to her face where he could see her eyes were wrapped as well. He wondered if she could see either. He didn't want to ask and be rude so he refrained from that. Instead he would begin with a greeting and hopefully pull some sort of connection out his ass. "So I'm Ikuzumi Chou, who are you, and if you don't mind why are you out here today at this time of night?" He figured she would ask him the same thing, why he was out here. He was prepared to answer that if he had to but at least this way he could further conversation. Give her something to ask and wonder about herself. Maybe she'll even be more comfortable speaking like that by having a chance to ask a question and not bombarded with "answers" as if she is incapable of getting to a conclusion to ask a question. He knew how people were and they over did their "friendliness" when it came to the handicapped. He would not do that for her or anyone for that matter.

The reaction was normal, if not regular. She didn't have to see the energy, she could hear it. She could hear his blood flow change, the hair on the back of his neck prickle, she could hear it. The blind woman took a step forward as he calmed down, finally speaking. Something about a peach? 'What is...peachy?' She wondered to herself as her body rocked back and forth at tremendous size as he spoke about food. People of Suna, they are not very bright. They forget to eat. Not bright. Not bright at all. Her left hand reached forward, taking his shoulder with surprising strength as she pointed behind her with her right hand before it fell limp by her side again. The sand swirling in the air once more:

'H O M E.'

Her mouth never smiled or showed any emotion, but rather stayed straight and a firmly pressed line. 'F O O D' began to form in the air again as she tugged on his shoulder, perhaps a little too brutishly, and released him, turning and slowly moving towards the house, the sand forming a third word: 'F O L L O W'. As she moved inside, listening for his footsteps behind her. Itami made little to no sound as she moved inside, holding the door open for him, assuming he followed as a man, just as tall, or even taller, moved into the room.

"Itami?" His voice was confident, as was his stature. A very tall man, with wide shoulders and a thick mass of black hair just like the woman's. "Who is that?' He asked. Though his face was towards the man, his eyes were unfocused.

Blind.

The entire family was blind. The entire complex was blind. Everyone who entered the house was blind. The man moved towards the newcomer, "Welcome to the Kanashimi Complex, can we help you?" A hard hand came down on his shoulder, Itami's hand moving to push it off, and she spoke:

"Fa--ther...Chou... he w-w...would like...f-food." Her voice was painfully hoarse, and nothing like her singing. Her breathing was audible and painful between words, and she had a slight lisp from the drag the right side of her mouth had. Itami was not mute, but rather, talking was painful and hard for her.

But her father could not read.

"Food?! Why! We've got some of that! Follow me!"

The bandage women stood in a stand still. He wasn't sure how to react, how to respond, once more she stirred. The girl made a movement, and grasped onto his shoulder. Chou tried to calm himself for he knew that she may have felt a sudden shock. There were only so many times someone could avoid not feeling anything from a human lightning rod. However he would pull away in order to spare her from feeling too much of this energy. The girl would then point towards the building behind her. The words "Home" appeared and then she allowed her arm to slip back into a limp state. This was her home, a complex much like the others in Sunagakure but he was unsure of what clan held refuge here. Chou awaited the women's next set of sand words in order to comprehend her intent. It'd be better if she could draw a sentence but he understood that may have been asking too much (in his mind). So instead he'd try understand her ways, to make this interaction comfortable.

The next word made him skip a little, due to the nature of his current feelings. The word was "Food" oh how wonderful the sound of food was to his ears. Next was the word "Follow", and he of course assumed she meant into the complex. As the amazon of bandages beckoned Chou to follow her into the complex, her home, he could only wonder what people would say to him or even think about him but he had only hoped that it wouldn't be a burden. As he traveled closely behind she held the door open for him. "Why thank you, but you've never given me your name? I know it must be tough to use the sand to speak so if I could just get your name this cou-" Chou stopped mid sentence as a man taller than the amazon girl came into the room. He spoke loud "Itami, who is that?"

Ah her name is Itami. This must be another clan member or something. The man came forward to Chou and then began to welcome as he also tried to touch his shoulder. Chou tensed ready to brace the hand and shrug it off quickly but smoothly. However that became unnecessary. However Itami came into the mix and pushed the hand and began speaking. "Fa--ther...Chou... he w-w...would like...f-food." Her voice sounded like a hand scraping on a board to Chou. She was seriously hurt but at least she could speak. However the large man quickly took heed and seemed to get excited. At the offer of food Chou could not refuse. "Well... Alright then but can we please do some introductions here!? I'm Ikuzumi Chou sir, who are you?" He was going to try to press for some kind of comfortable conversation while they went for food however he really didn't like not having a form of names or aliases.
Sorry for the wait I've been working and such:
-Wasn't sure if his eyes are distinguished as blind (like a glazed white color or w/e). So I'm going to treat him as though he's not blind unless further conversation changes that ^_^

A pulse of something. Something painful that traveled through her nerves (the ones that weren't charred, that was) and made the hair on her arm stand up as he shifted her off. It was a surge and a shock against her body, almost like a silent attack that gave Itami a strange look on her face--or, what he could see, would be a deep frown on her emotionless lips. It was very rare that the monster felt pain, because her nerves were so shot on a large portion of her body, by needless to say, she did not comment on it and continued on her way.

Her father, Kanashimi Kazuo, was a beast of a man. He was large and bulky in stature, built in muscule from training. His hands were deeply burnedand charred--similiar to the color on the side of Itami's lips. Little did Chou know, when the fire jutsu that was cast from Kazuo's own hands went awry and deeply burned his daughter, he grabbed her flamining body with his bare hands. He suffered through the smell of burning flesh and severe pain to drag his daughter to safety and cast a water jutsu, and, without healing, take her to the hospital.

His eyes, though blind, did not show any signs of such. In fact, they were raidient and beautiful. The entire family was blessed with entrancing eyes and voices, hailing from their Hashigaki blood. Itami's were the most unique, but never showed. Kazuo's were a bright cyan color, that seemed to even glow a bit. The lightest of blues' attainable.

"Ah, right you are boy. So polite." The man nodded to him as he began to lead him through the corridors, Itami trailing behind quietly. "I am Kanashimi Kazuo--the head man of this complex." He gloated with an amused smile on his face, "That is my daughter, Itami." He said, motioning behind him to the mummified girl who kept her head down submissively. "And my wife, Mizuki, is around here somewhere..." He murmured to himself as a great hand moved to grab a servant walking down the halls, "Ah! Reika, is dinner ready?"

"Yes, sir."

"Good, good!"

"You have a letter, sir."

"Urgent?"

"Yes, sir."

"Itami, take the boy down to the dining room--maybe eat yourself. I've got to take this." He said, moving to the boy, and nodding to him before heading back with the female servant.

Itami lingered for a moment, awkwardly standing in the corridor before she began to walk, assuming Chou would follow, until the smell of food began to become very potent. As they entered the room, it would become obvious that more than one intimate family lived in the complex. Rather, the entire living family on both sides. And the dead in the catacombs below. All sorts of food, and dozens of chairs surrounded a table. Itami moved and sat down in one of the chairs, inviting Chou to sit across from her.

"P L E A S E--E N J O Y."

So the bandaged girl was the daughter of this man. "Itami eh?" Chou was now wondering again why this man's daughter was so damaged. He wondered what could have happened to her to have her bandaged so badly. However his thought train was broken once again as Kazuo grabbed a woman passing by. These people are very "touchy feely, maybe it's a family thing." Chou would shrug as he watched them interact.

Apparently this woman was another person living on the complex or maybe she was a maid. Most likely a maid by the way he asked about dinner but on the Ikuzumi complex they had no need for maids. Everyone did their part, but then again not every clan was like his. This is what made Sunagakure diverse in their community of different people. Chou continued to listen and watch as they spoke of an urgent letter. A letter? I wonder what's so urgent in this underground haven. Maybe they've found something worth looking for. He wanted to experience the world but being in these caverns his whole life just wasn't the way to go about such things. However maybe there could be some excitement in an "adventure".

Kazuo left to take his urgent letter and left Itami to take care of Chou. The young ninja waved goodbye to Kazuo and turn to Itami. She stood there for a few, and began to move down the hall. As they did Chou spoke to her commenting on her father. "That was interesting, your father is an energetic man. You don't have to respond by the way." He did not expect her to respond and he decided to make it clear she did not have to.

They entered a dining room full of chairs around a large table. They must have had a large sized family here. It was definitely something to take note of especially with the amount of food sitting there. Chou walked to a seat across from Itami and sat to the right of it. He'd stretch his back as he sat in the chair and exhale. "Ahhh, this is nice just relaxing for a bit. Not like life is too hard down here. So where to start on this food. He'd wait for the okay to be given and then he'd eat. However he did have a question to ask Itami.

"Out of curiosity do you need help eating? It seems like you are very damaged and I've been curious, about what happened to you. I'm also wondering why no one intends to help you maybe you are more self sufficient than I think but you don't write many words with your sand it's usually one worded answers or small phrases. Not that I expect much but I was just curious is all. I hope I'm not treading ice and I'll wait if you need a lot of time to explain. Maybe I can help the injuries too?"

You don't have to respond. What an interesting way of permitting someone to be silent. The mummified woman sat across from the man, her face positioned straight forward, even when she talked to him. Itami had no need to turn her head towards him, and he had no need to expect such things from her. Chou seemed like an extremely laid back guy, as though he was in no hurry. The way he spoke, the way he leaned back (Yes, the creak of the back of the chair was enough for her to recognize his laziness) all showed signs of someone who was content where they were. As she gestured for him to start eating. The sound of the glass against plastic and metal made the sensitive-hearing woman wince every once and awhile, but her head never turned from the straight stare at the wall in front of her, until Chou spoke again.

His questions were normal, but more polite than most people who asked. Itami gave a brief smile, surprisingly, to him, before it would fade back into the firmly pressed line. 'No, h-help.' She answered briefly, tipping back in her chair for a moment as she pondered to herself. Her voice sounded like those who suffered from throat cancer and TB at the same time. 'Eatin-ing hurts.' Itami shrugged, 'D-Don't like... to-to...do it.' With the help of chakra, the Hashigaki could sing not only clearly, but magically. 'Fa-...fa....fath-er-father helped my.....brothers....train. I-I...little g-girl and get....in...th-the way.' She took the bandage on her right forearm with her left hand and pulled it back to reveal a burn scar, suggesting that it covered her entire right side of her body. 'He take.....me....burning by-by-by....by the hands....burn h-his hands Her voice became quiet for a moment as she took in a slow deep breath--that sounded like nails on a chalk board.

'I swa-swallow fire.' Her hand lifted and ran down her neck to her chest, 'Burn my...esop---esopho-g-gus...and lungs.' Itami hoped she wasn't ruining his meal with talk of sickness and death. Most people didn't like to eat with such a thing on their minds. 'Take me to--to hospital.... "can't help"...th-they say.... "She die."...' Itami shook her head, 'They ban-bandage me.....I no die.... too strong, Fa-father say.' Had Chou been able to hear her thoughts, maybe he would understand that she was no stupid, but rather highly educated. Her thoughts were formal, educated, and superior--but her voice was lower and limp. 'Too ash-ashmed.....don't....take off band-bandages.' She explained in her harsh and ragged voice, 'Many people try....try to help my...my skin.'

'Kasa only one who...who can.'
Itami said his name lightly, telling Chou she had someone to help her already. Her voice soft and reminiscing as she said his name. Kasa was a mystery to her. A beautiful mystery. 'Kuro--sennin....he help me...my...my eyes....me...help m-me see.' She gestured to her eyes, her bandages fingers touching the bandages where her eyes were supposed to be.

'Father doesn't.....doesn't kn-know.....shhhh...~'

Chou was waiting for something like a miracle sentence to appear from the sand however something more interesting happened. A raspy voice that sounded as though someone's lungs were nearly dead began ringing through his ears. He looked up perplexed that the words had indeed come from Itami who was now trying to speak and moving a bit more. She explained that she didn't need help, but eating hurt and that she didn't like to do it. However Chou himself wondered if that was a good thing for her to be doing because not eating wouldn't be helping her condition at all. At least her body could have some more form of energy but in this world of shinonbi there were many unknown or hidden variables.

She began to explain her situation, and with more movement than he expected. Apparently when she was younger, her father trained her brothers and one day she got in the way. There must have been an incident with fire based upon the burn scars she revealed. Itami explained that he grabbed while she was in the flames and burned his hands. "Ah that explains his hands, I felt it was a burn but I was unsure. Ah sorry continue, and if the pain becomes unbearable you don't have to speak any longer." He exhaled and began to refocus himself. He wanted to give her more time to explain.

Itami then exclaimed that she swallowed fire, and burned her throat, esophagus, and her lungs. Apparently no one but someone named Kasa could help her skin. Chou wondered how true that was but then again who knew how long she's been trying to get "fixed". He simply listened as she then said someone named Kuro-sennin had been helping her see with her eyes. "Kuro-sennin? Who is that if you don't mind me asking? Oh and how is he helping you "see". I take it your blind, but how does he help you see?" Chou sat back in his chair and began to ponder. He wondered what type of person she was. He wanted to know a little more so he asked one final question and would then top it with a statement.

"You said your brothers were being trained, Are they and your father shinobi? I'm sorry I've asked so much, you can ask me questions if you'd like." A conversation took two to tango.

Itami was a little shocked by this man who didn't know who Kuro-Sensei was. Her head tipped a bit at the idea before she leaned back a bit and the sand began to swirl above her head again: "A N B U-- S E N N I N" Had she spoke, her voice would have had a tweak of sarcasm, surprised that he was unaware of the status of this man. Her body turned a bit as her head faced toward a massive artistic jar sat in the corner of the room has sand began to pour down the sides of it before slowly entwining into the air as her fingers formed a few seals with her hands as the sand created a crystal eye in the air above the table.

Itami pointed upwards: "S I G H T". The excess sand spelled as she stood and handed him a plate, walking to the other side of the room, "T H R O W". The sand commanded, assuming he would do so, she would catch it with ease, before handing it back and sitting across from him.

"I--A M--N O T--V E R Y--G O O D--Y E T"

The crystal eye would shatter, and the sand would return to it's vase in the corner. "D O N ' T--T E L L--F A T H E R" Her hand massaged her throat from all the talking as she listened to his movements. "S E C R E T."

"W E--A L L--S H I N O B I."

[OOC: Sorry about the delay, it's hard to write as these posts, because Itami has gone through so many changes, it's like writing about the past.]
