Suzume listened with trepidation as the man started through the file, unprepared to hear the depths of which it delved. She had figured him to be a bad man, he certainly had to be given what little she knew and what he had done, but she had never expected it to sink as deeply as it had. Inhuman experiments that the village was complicit with? Murder being taken as a minor charge? The abuse, violation and eventual murder of children even younger than she was? It was on the brink of being too extreme to be anything but a joke, but looking at the unconscious man, it all sank in as fact to her. A large part of her wanted to infuse this man with every last bit of evil and vileness that the world contained, to justify the horrible feelings that she had towards him. In other circumstances she would never admit to such, but the thought of him dead was succulent and alluring.
Not everything that he had read out made sense to her, however. She was not familiar with Lord Jashin, but she presumed him to be a noble of power somewhere within Wind Country, if not inside of the village itself. Then as she was handed the file, she began to skim through the pages. The pictures horrified her at first, but she could not bring herself to look away. She flipped page after page, image after image as he continued to speak. There were dozens of them, some horribly disfigured with expressions of silent agony and others simply bloodied and lifeless. Eventually she managed to look away, just long enough to peer at the creature with pure distilled disgust. Murder was horrific, but this? It took something far beyond that to even scratch the depths that this man dwelled in. Closing the individual case files, she read the front of the report, seeing his old incarceration and imprisoning date. He had been in prison once, and if he went back who was to say he would not escape once again?
The ANBU had become silent for a time as she read, but as soon as she slowly closed the file he began once again. She looked almost numb, her previous visage of fear and disgust almost completely submersed beneath a thick layer of numbed shock. Should he be allowed to return to captivity? Forced to live out an existence of suffering, yet with the possibility that he could one day regain his freedom, as he proved himself capable enough to do once before? The mere thought that he could once again roam free, no matter how remote, terrified her to her core. If he was ever free, she would suffer more than any of the others she had just seen, she knew it.
The snapping of his fingers to release Mukuro from his sleep startled Suzume from her stupor as well. She looked from him and followed his gaze to Mukuro who stirred once more, albeit slowly. She stared at him, the traces of fear returning as consciousness slowly took root in the maniac's murky mind. Greatness, she heard Kaen say as she continued to stare, she had greatness? She certainly did not feel great. Any sense of power seemed to fade from her as Mukuro looked from the ANBU to her, a sickly smile wringing on his face as he stared a lustful eye towards her. The gaze was broken as Kaen continued to speak, sapping the confidence from Mukuro as some of it slowly trickled back into Suzume. He proceeded to walk towards the door to stand guard, leaving Mukuro to his latest victim's whims.
Suzume took a moment to look from the prisoner, watching Kaen speak as he offered her the ultimatum. She could leave now and let Mukuro's fate be what it will, or take it into her own hands and do something about it. A lump formed in her throat as she slowly turned from him to peer back at the burnt and restrained Mukuro who seemed torn between pride and fear. He gave a firm pull against his restraints, but quickly found that his drained strength wouldn't be enough to free himself and with this collar on, one he knew too well, he could not tap into his bag of tricks to get free. He always knew this day would come, and he knew the only opportunity he had available to him. It was not perfected, and it was possible that it could kill him, but it was his only option that the desperate animal could see. He just had to wait for the right moment, or else that guard could get spooked and kill him before he even had a chance, he just had to make an opening.
Pulling himself together, he gave the girl a wide grin, the side of his cheek stung horribly from the burned flesh that reached just past his ear. "Couldn't stop thinking about me could you? Thinking of all the wonderful things we would do together." He licked his lips, narrowing his bulbous gaze towards her as he widened his perverse smile. Suzume visibly shivered from the insinuation, trying to keep herself from fleeing out into the hallway. "Oh, I could see it in your eyes. The forbidden thrill, it was intoxicating wasn't it? If you untie me, I'll make sure you get that good time that you've been dreaming about." He began to chuckle, ignoring the pain that coursed through his burnt and battered body. Pain was a sign of life, one that these two would be unable to enjoy for much longer, he simply needed that opening.
"Shut up!" Suzume yelled, trying to keep control of herself as a swirl of anger and fear wrestled for control over her.
"Or is it that man you got killed? If you didn't play so hard to get, he'd still be... whatever it was with that now widow of his." He was not sure what buttons to press, he just had to keep pressing until he got the results he needed. Sometimes you didn't have the right tool on hand, so you just had to brute force with the ones you had.
"I said shut up!" She yelled once again, her arms visibly shaking as she stepped forward to try and impose her meek will onto the helpless prisoner. The death of that man was not always part of her nightmares, but when it was the guilt came strong with it. Logicially she knew she had no blame to share in that, but if she were not in that alley, playing shinobi, that stranger wouldn't be dead. Seeing that her idle threats were having no effect, she rushed over to the bag and pulled out the first thing she found: a standard-issue kunai. "Now!" she yelled, likely looking to Kaen as if she had no real control over the situation.
He stuck out his tongue and made a show of slowly licking his dry lips. Maybe he just needed to jab a little deeper. "Or maybe you want to be the big tough top, you really seemed like you wanted to be the big proud shinobi back then." He gave her a sly wink, "I don't normally, but I guess I could give an exception to such a pathetically adorable little girl like y-" His words were interrupted by a cry of pain as she rushed forward and jammed the kunai straight down into his leg. The pain was succulent, delicious and very distracting, but he couldn't get distracted. Wincing away, her bit his teeth hard and snapped one of his canines in half from the force of the bite. Quickly, he swallowed the fragment before his jailers could notice. He had implanted a small amount of one of his old compounds into that fake half-tooth just in case of something like this. He had not used it in the prison, as he knew he had the means to escape there, but time was not in his favor with his impending execution.
Suzume held the hilt of the kunai with both hands, pressing down on it as he reeled with pain. An electric current surged through it into his leg causing it to kick out, nearly striking her in the process. Stumbling back from avoiding the reflex, she gasped for air, looking confused as if something had wrested control of her body and forced her to stab the man. At least it worked, he seemed to shut up for the moment, but the demons were already stirred inside of her head. He was just trying to rile her up, probably so she would just kill him and get it over with. Well, if that was what the bastard wanted, there was no way she was going to give it to him. "Y-Yeah! How is that!" Again she tried to sounds threatening, but she had stabbed a man before and the adrenaline was flowing though unfamiliar grounds.
Mukuro jerked as the fragment went down his throat into his stomach. Luckily it didn't get stuck. He only needed maybe a minute for it to start working, it had been quite a long while since he concocted the fake-tooth he was not entirely sure it was still chemically active. "Y-you, bitch!" He grunted out, his leg twitching from the surge of electricity through it as blood seeped from the deep stab wound. He only wished he could make them suffer, but Lord Jashin would just have to get over their deaths being too quick. "So high and mighty with your statue protector. Why don't you come over here and say it right to the face that cut that pretty little body of yours up!" He had to get her close, long enough for her to serve as a shield when the transformation occurred. Otherwise he was a clear target for that guard to kill him before he broke free and crushed both their skulls.
Even on the best of days, Suzume was a creature of impulse, and while she was committed to fighting this abomination to his last breath, she couldn't see an obvious ploy if it came and grabbed her in the throat. She looked over to Kaen, fear and hate in her eyes as she commanded, "don't move." It was an obvious ruse, even if he was completely restrained. There was a good chance that Kaen would let her die should it come to that, not out of spite but to let the girl learn her lessons on her own. The death part would be an unfortunate side-effect of learning that lesson. She spun to look back to Mukuro and stomped her way over to him, calling his threat and meeting it head on. "Y-you are going to regret what yo-!"
Suzume's words were interrupted as a surge of strength in Mukuro's arm broke his hand free from the cords that bound it. It was already twice as thick as the chemicals flowed through his veins, which bulged out from the skin as the rapidly growing muscles stretched it to its limits. Before she even knew what happened, his hand gripped around her throat and squeezed it. The change was far too slow. Had he made it in a lap yesterday it would have worked twice as fast with twice as potent of results, he would have popped her head like a grape within moments. Weakened from malnutrition, his bodily damage and the lessened effects of his trump card all combined together to keep the girl alive for just a few moments longer. It coursed through his body, surging his muscles as they expanded and pulled against his bonds, the collar around his neck straining just to keep from breaking from the force.
Choking, Suzume's eyes went wide as she suddenly knew the danger she was in. Her hands flailed trying to claw at the man's ripped arm, its skin tearing from the explosive increase in muscle mass. He squeezed hard on her neck and pulled, trying to use her as a shield to block him from Kaen's view for just long enough to rip his other arm free from the bonds. Now face to face with the mutating monstrosity, the muscles in his face bulging at inconsistent intervals as he gave her that sickeningly satisfied grin, rife with pain that it was. Suzume's eyes began to glow a bright neon, as if her squeeze somehow lit them up. Terror streamed along with electrified chakra through her body as blood almost completely stopped flowing through her neck from the immense pressure.
Desperate, she reached out and grabbed onto the man's head to try and fight for freedom. With one hand on each side of his head, electricity surged though her palms into the monster's skull. The collar around his neck snapped from the pressure, but it did him little good. His body convulsed rapidly and his grip on her neck released as he lost control of his appendages. Even as he let go, she did not, in fact she stumbled forward and gripped onto him harder, seeing the effects of such a large amount of electricity going through the man's skull as his eyes bulged even harder, fear and agony twisting his expression as his genius brain cooked from the inside out. Desperately, he tried to reach for her or push her away, but it ultimately failed as death quickly came upon him. The smell of burning hair and flesh began to quickly fill the room as almost every bit of strength she had funneled itself into him. His limbs fell lifeless to his side, twitching occasionally from remnants of electricity that equalized itself throughout his corpse.
Taking the first breath in what felt like forever, Suzume pulled her hands back from the man's scalp, some the smoking bits coming with it. The damage to her larynx was not life threatening, but she still had to gasp painfully for air as she reached to her own throat, blood and bits dropping from them as she worked more on autopilot than any conscious motions. She collapsed backwards away from the dead man, his body having stopped its mutation with the blood no longer pumping the toxins through his body. His outsides aptly resembled the man he was inside, a mutated and hideous amalgamation of malformed muscles and flesh. Suzume could do nothing but clasp at her own throat, as if trying to pull away the crushing sensation that had been strangling her mere moments before as she stared up at the lifeless body.
